[Q] Pre-Flash Safe Apps to remove from Zip - Desire General

Hi there.
I where in the need of a list of included Apps in official HTC rom that can be safely removed and couldn´t find any list with descriptions so i wondered if anybody have such a list so it could make it easyer and less fustration to remove apps you don´t want in the roms without you having to reflash 100 times to figure out what ones can´t be removed without making it buggy.
so does anybody have a list of Safe to remove apps Perf. with descriptions of what the apps does/is for?

Removing unneeded apps

I want to remove some of the unused apps from my phone could you please tell me what App to use

Dude - are you sure you should be removing apps if you don't know what to be removing them with. No disrespect, just saying.
Anyway, if you want to remove apps, I assume you aren't talking about just any old app ??? Because of course, you can just uninstall apps within Settings, Applications, Manage Applications on vanilla Android.
If you want to remove system apps and stuff that can't be removed in Settings, Apps, ..., then you need something like Titanium Backup (I'm sure thats what most would recommend). Again, if you didn't know this already, I would recommend reading up on it. It needs you to be rooted, which isn't a problem if you read the threads on here. It also needs some know-how about what is safe to remove (see here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1089470).
If you just need to get rid of bloatware, you could flash a cleaner firmware that doesn't have lots of useless apps (I'm thinking of all the apps included in the France Orange firmware).
I hope this helps.

[Q] Upgrading ROM's from one version to the next - Script to remove unwanted apps?

I'm an AOKP fan. As anyone knows, this is one of the ROM's that are frequently updated. Problem is, every time I upgrade I have to re-flash Gapps and also remove all the unwanted apps all over again.
I end up removing about 15-20 apps every time I flash an upgrade.
Is there a script or something I can create to take a ROM zip and automatically add only the Google apps I want and remove all the apps that exist, which I don't want? Something other than doing it manually every time?
I've never made a complicated script before. Not quite sure if it's what I need or how to make one.
If your interested in setting up a gscript script I could probably do a quick tutorial for you. I used to use it on CM7 on my dext to get rid of unwanted system apps. Let me know and I'll shoot you a link to the tut I did on Simply Android.

[Q] Is it safe to remove some system apps in CM7?

I see that there are some apps like Dev Tools and Spare parts, that was already in CM 7 and as I need more space I was thinking of removing them but I am not sure if they will cause problems afterwards, does anyone know if it is safe to remove them and will not cause any trouble?
You can delete them . no worry
thanks

[Q] How to remove all samsung bloatware?

I want to make a rom for this phone but i can't find out which apps are needed to the phone to work properly and which not, i just want to make the rom light as possible and just keep the really necessary things, i've downloaded stock rom that is posted here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48781713&postcount=1 , thank you so much in advance for helping me :good:
You can remove SamsungAccount.apk, some other Samsung stuff, JUST NOT THE PHONE, CONTACTS OR MESSAGING! (as of now) Use Link2SD to remove them. (And add more apps as system apps) P.S. You'll have to copy the system folder though. Try using other rom as base.

[Q] General inquiries: Firmware, Knox, Debloating..

Hi all
I just got my 8.4 Tab Pro and need some advice before I apply my usual tweaking. Sorry if something similar has been discussed in other threads, I was not able to find definite answers to my questions.
As with all my Android devices I'd like customize the Tab Pro to minimize load, remove bloat and basically have the most control over it as possible.
- I rooted the Tab Pro with Towel without triggering Knox. So far so good. From what I read though, installing a recovery mod and/or a custom rom, Knox will still be triggered. What if I use an 'optimized' (debloated, tweaked) stock rom, is there a way no to have Knox in the way?
- If there's no way to prevent Knox from triggering: Any advice on which processes/apps can be safely removed and which (eg build.prop) tweaks would make sense for this device?
- Is there an overview which shows available Firmwares and maybe even changelogs? I'm a bit confused by all the different available codes and their corresponding origin countries.
That's it for the moment, thanks in advance
as soon as you flash a custom recovery, you will trip Knox. There is no way around that at the moment.
you can freeze quite a bit of the stock apps to get the device to run smoother. check your settings -- apps, and go to the running tab. Note which apps you don't use that are running in the background, and then freeze them with Titanium backup or similar program. Note some apps have multiple APK's that need to be frozen.

Hah, looks like my Auto-Correct trolled me with "Knox", nice one :silly:
Corrected it..
Thanks for the reply, that cleared it up for me with the trigger.
Regarding the other topic though: I'm aware how one can identify and disable unnecessary apps, I was hoping to find (for example) some kind of a list like the one Rom Cleaner uses where stock Samsung bloatware is identified- which would make it a lot easier to work on with the ridiculous amount of stuff included in the device.
Not sure if there is such an app yet for the tab pro..
I made a list of apps I froze in the battery life thread, here's a link to the post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54229116&postcount=26
Keep in mind, I started off with a rom without the All-Share APK's, and without the Knox APK's (there are several of each).
since that post, I have also frozen S-finder and Security Manager Service. Started getting random reboots, so I re-installed Security Manager Service, and it seems to have fixed the reboots.
Nice, thanks for that- that'll be a good start.
Any ideas regarding the different available firmwares?
I'm on ND3, which seems to work for me. Using Freeza's nearly stock rom for now and all seems well. haven't tried any of the CM based roms on this tablet yet though.
