Thanks for choosing my theme.
But to answer your question... no. You must have root.
An alternative would be to look for a home app substitute such as ADW Launcher, Open Home, DX Top, etc. You wouldn't have the black bar and additional effects but it'll give a a slightly different look with some extra options.
Good luck and we'll see you again when your warranty expires.
ooh yea, ur theme is pretty cool, i wont lie its reminds me of the evo. Thing is i got this phone and it still has warrenty on it for atleast another year and since iv never really had a touch screen phone nor a phone with such a screen id rather not crack the screen or mess up the track ball and be screwed, but its pretty temping. i have a T-Mo Dash(S260 / Excaliber) iv hacked. Thanks to Xda
Heres another question for you. I dont think ill brick my phone but if i were to root my phone and someting happens couldnt i just re-flash the orignal firmware and t-mobile would never know it was rooted ?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=529062
this is soo F$#%ing annoying. i downgraded my phone installed flash recovery... backed up recovery img but thats all i can do.. " download new img " is greyed out.
Edit : i got pissed off enough to just rename the hacked recovery file "recovery-backup" replacing the real backup XD and IT WORKED
Success !
Firmware : 2.1 update 1
Kernel version : [email protected] #1
Mod Version : Cyanogen-5.0.8-DS
WOOOOOOOOOOO !!!!!!! it really took about 6-10 minutes to root with out having any andriod knowledge and was really 5 steps LOL download 2 files on to sd card(rec img and rom) > install flashrec > flash rec file > reboot into rec mod > wipe phone & install zip from sd... DONE ! lol
ps. i used the the 1 click method simple as hell, instead of making the goldcard ****

Thanks to Stericson for being the 1st and paving the way for me to make this theme possible and for helping me over the last few days
thanks for romeo0119 and Luda for beta testing..
thanks to JesusFreke For his mod rc 30
Hey this is the release for Back to the future ..after long nights well only 1 lol.. i work fast i was suppose to release this friday ... most of my updates will come in the mist of the night because thats when i have the most time to myslef.... ok .. before u drool over the screen shots let me explain a few things.. im NOT responsible if you brick your device .. its less likely you will because i didn't but also i dont kno about the auto rotate browser files if they will work in my update.. as i dont use it .. if i need to auto rotate i just use steel...
RULES!
make sure you have the dev bootloader..
but in the case that you do brick your device..Make sure you have a micro sd card reader .. or an extra phone that reads it .. or even a device .. and then download 1st ever android custom theme made by Stericson as it is known to work with the Auto Rotate and just put his file on your memory card.. and then follow the instructions
Yes this will delete all your apps and stuff.. i didn't have time to figure out to get it so it doesn't do that .. maybe some1 can reupload it so it doesn't delete everything i will be gladly to post the mirror in my 1st post
Instructions
just put update.zip on the root of your memory card..
reset your phone ..the call button (green)+menu+ power button
then hold down power button and the home button as soon as you reset until you get to a screen with a phone and exclamation mark you may have to
then press ALT+S .. and it will install and there your G1 is as cool as mines lol
SCREENSHOTS !!!

and now ladies and gentlemen the actual file
FOR RC MOD 30 only !! until RC 8 is up and fixed..
FULLY WORKING .just no custom app icons like the firefox icon for my browser.. I will fix that soon ..soo all app icons will be defualt icons for now.. but that still doesn't ruin the experience for the theme the app icons just made it better
http://rapidshare.com/files/176541374/update.zip
Mirrors Accepted .,
theme retired no more work on this one .. sorry .. i have to move on to other projects..keep moving foward ! (( meet the robinsons quote ))
and Enjoy
i will upload the .psd's and everything else later for now just enjoy the new look next theme countdown from me 7 days or less
yay
thnx alot im download the file now. I hope it doesnt brick
thanks for trying ...did it work... ?
nope im stuck at t-mobile g1 screen
what version do you have do you have the mod RC 30 .. or Mod RC 8 also it has to be 1.2
and also do you have the bootloader
Oh goodness....You need to pull that file off until you can fix it Dave and specify that it is not for RC8.....Oh, and the auto-rotate browser will have no effect on your theme because your theme should overwrite it. Now if they install it afterwards then it may cause a problem...possibly...I don't know if Koush's version is resigned or not. Not trying to be mean but you need to make absiolutely sure you make your theme correctly, resigning everything and making the update.zip right, before you release it....If you need help on anything, feel free to leave me a message.
Also, the update should work even with Jesusfrekes first modrc30 update.
Stericson
i have the modded firmware rc30 and the dev bootloader
i dnt think i have the version 1.2 rc30 though im trying to fix it now
LUDA: put Jesusfrekes modrc30 update back on your sdcard...reflash it...then re wipe your phone. You should be back up and running in no time.
Stericson
ok thanks. so should i try to do the theme again since i updated to v1.2 rc30
no, the orig mod rc30 was not the problem, these updates should work with every mod RC30 update. However, they will not work for the RC8 update unless they are built for it specifically. it's something in the update, something probably isn't signed right. Let him look it over.
However, you can try it again if you wish....It is your phone afterall.
If you do try again let us know the results.
Stericson
So I take it this theme is no good right now? Hopefully the issues get worked out.
well i tried again and the same thing happened so i guess its your file
im not sure why its bricking your device .. i updated my 1st post with the update.zip that is on my memory card as we speak... that i just updated my phone with .. and no brick..let me know the result on yours so i can figure this problem out
I tried, got stuck at G1 boot loader too. I have the 1.2 rom. I flashed the first theme and it booted up fine and then I flash your theme and now it's stuck at the G1 logo. Please look into it
im trying again now with the updated file. lets see what happens.....it just rebooted....loading at t-mobile g1 screen............................ and it stick again. idk but i know im doin everything right.
i PM Stericson as why it would work on mines.. but not yours .. is it alright if i PM you luda with a private build ?
any progress on it? i really like this theme but i already flash my phone twice already and its still not working

I assume you mean the initial splash screen that pops up when you startup the phone. I did this on my G1, which was used on AT&T until I just got a Rogers Magic yesterday.

I've verified that it works, I now have a pretty bootsplash on my new Magic.

It should. Tough luck if you can't figure it out from there.
I've been struggling with this for a few days and may give up due to the risk involved.
Basically, it all depends on what version of the device you have.
1. You need to root your phone.
2. Check this website: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Sapphire_Hacking
It has detailed information on how to edit your boot screen.
Issues arise if you have a perfect SPL, like I do. (which is most likely what you bought) With a perfect SPL you will need to follow Ra's 30 - 40 steps to creating a Gold card (which might brick your phone and super complex) and then install an engineering SPL. After you've installed the busted SPL you can then use fastboot to push a new boot screen you've created using tools found is several other threads in this forum.
To do just about anything with the boot screen you'll need an extra non-scan disk SD card, RA's engineers SPL, the boot screen image converter created by JesusFreak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=467064) and some other stuff. I'd recommend doing some homework. MT3G is a super pain in the ass in comparison to the G1.
You might want to keep an eye on the thread I started yesterday... which is basically what you are asking... except I've done a lot of reading. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=568434)
http://ostebaronen.dk/?p=124 gives a great detailed instruction PLUS a load of splash screens!you dont have to make them just use his tut

Yeah, that wont work for his American MT3G.
it should do its only flashing the splash screen, not the android screen
"fastboot flash splash1 mysplash.xxx"
its very simple, u can change the bootsplash on the mt3g, but first you have to change the spl, the one that comes on it already ends in 0006, you have to change it to 2005 the same one from the g1, after that u can change it the same way with the g1 thru fastboot flashing....thats how i did mine and a few of my frineds mt3g...good luck
Follow my walkthrough here to get root access and the correct SPL on a bone stock MyTouch 3G from t-mobile so you can fastboot: http://alldroid.org/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=76
Then follow this thread on how to create and flash your new boot screen through fastboot: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=555114
If you only just got 5 posts I really recommend you to help other people first and search this forum.

I was reading through and my question that I have is if I am already loaded with cyans lates 4.2.5 and all But I do not have the engineering SPL could I load it like it stated in your posted link from alldroid just like a basic update.zip and still be ok.

Let me guess, blond....flash a custom rom or kernel with 2e recovery.
Why only themes?..make your phone blasting fast, girl
He he! not blond but blue eyes!
I have allrdy rooted my phone and (why is it so hard to remember) "Voodoo-stable-5.1-Froyo-2.2.1-GT-I9000-odin-pda"
"GT-I9000_P-SBL_RCVDL_FIX_ODIN"
and something more... But it took me like one hour to understand how to do it because the 3 but thingy didn't work on my galaxy because of the update!
Then you have Cwm 2e recovery..so, it simple than. Get "quick boot" application (must have) from the market.
Now you can reboot in 2e recovery and take a theme from anyone on this forum.
Nice one "Jumba NeonGT" very sexy and fits to you blue eyes..
Put the file intern sd and run it in Cwm...
Omg!!!! Cwn? Now i rly feel stupid. What program is that? Hahaha!
let me know which rom and kernel are you running and I can help....the only thing with all this custom stuff is there is NO 100% safe bets....if you want 100% stay with stock rom and use http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=900738 theme which is can be used on stock rom (jpy only). Also you need to be rooted (which will void your warrnty) and be running 2e recovery to flash this theme. So let me know the detials and I can then advise / guide you. But again there is nothing 100% safe in xda forums.

Is it a program thats missing? Tried but that whiped out mu games and my music.
download rommanager(attached) from market and flash the first option, should be something like flashing clockworkmod recovery, from there you have to flash it and it should give the option to boot in cwm, from there you can select the appropriate .zip for writing roms, kernels, themes and apps in places you normally couldn't.
Ahhaaa... So I have to do it from off-line mode if you say like that! Ohh thank you thank you thank you!
As it stands in the beginning. I'm a noob! I still havn't figured this out. I had to wipe out my phone 5 times this weekend!
I must be doing something rly wrong because when I follow the instructions and restart my phone it becomes a wanna be dildo that's vibrating like hell...
I have checked that it's .JPU and I'm packing it up from "off-line mode". Why can't I be as good as you ppl?

The simplest & most error free method would be to first grab a STOCK 2.1 ROM. If you don't have Odin, check my signature for Odin3 1.7, Download that too.
Open Odin, select ONLY the pit file, that would be 512. select re-partition, put you phone in download mode, connect it via usb, & click on start. Once its flashed, usually no more than 8-10 seconds, Remove the battery BEFORE the phone starts. In Odin, select the PDA, Phone & CSC from your 2.1 ROM, don't use pit now, DON't select re-partition, put your phone in download mode again, connect via usb & flash.
Allow your phone to start. Once you are here, tell me & I will continue.

"MODEM" in phone and
"CSC" in CSC...
It's downloading now so when you read this it should be done!
Is it downloaded? What files do you have now?
can anyone tell me why my htc desire is stuck at this screen when i put in the battery?
-- 1 minute later --
well, i can't post a pic since not allowed to link until after 8 posts
it looks like a boot screen with 3 android dudes on the bottom.
any ideas?
Your stuck at the bootloader. Means that there is no boot.img. You've done something to it. Just flash a rom and it'll be fine. Don't forget to wipe data.
ok, thats positive news so far
the things is, i think its water damage but not much water at all really. just a bit from snowing while skiing.
the power and volume buttons do not seem to respond AND the ohone turns on by itself when i insert the battery.
is it still just a case of 'flash a ROM'? or is there more?
oh, and here is the image..... finally,

You don't have root or a custom recovery, correct? You just want to go back to the stock Froyo?
I think if the power buttons don't work it may be a bit of a problem selecting options in that menu, since the power button works as "select" in that menu.
I think you could boot to recovery using command prompt, but I am not 100% sure about that.
Also, are you rooted? Do you have a custom recovery installed?

Do you have a note of which rom was installed in your device? Is it carrier locked? Branded?
Select the newest RUU that fits your phone & carrier from http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bravo/. Extract the ROM, rename to PB99IMG.zip, place in root dir of sd-card and reboot. Should do everything else automatically.
don't really follow the whole ROM question?
my phone has android v2.2, is NOT branded, is NOT locked and NO rooting.
and i should add that i am sweden if that matters.
The file you download from shipped roms is an exe file. When you execute the file it will extract a couple of files to your harddrive. Among those is a file named ROM.zip. That's the one you're looking for.
When I extracted it the file was here C:\Users\*User Name*\AppData\Local\Temp\{722DC7D5-7B69-4EBC-B6FB-B63AE38C01DE}\{50F2F878-636A-496F-A7CB-544C067E0C4B}
The ROM on shipped ROMs are all the standard carriers version that are unmodified.

Yeah but there are different versions of 2.2 depending on carriers etc, thats why I was asking!
I *think* any of the ROMS here with RUU at the beginning & WWE in the filename should work. (I am not 100% sure about this, as I have not had an official rom installed for AGES).
You will then have to follow sonoftobit's instructions I think, don't ask me how to extract the ROM though, as I don't know how to do it!
PS sonoftobit - Ignore this liquidmonkey!
If you go to the CM7 nightly thread and go to the 2nd post, Kali has a script for enabling Apps2SD. That is what I am running, tried to use S2E but it screwed things up royally and I had to restore a Nandroid!
Yeah, I had the same problems with S2E. I'm using DarkTremor App2SD now which has worked flawlessly ever since (both Sense Froyo and CM7). Also there's A2SDGUI for DarkTremor now which makes it even better.

why on earth would you write that?

i have had the phone off for a few more days and then put in the battery and BANG, it started up after a little while.
problem was that my battery only lasted 10 seconds so i was not able to fully test things.
then i put the battery in again and i was back where i started, crappy boot screen.
is there something in the phone that keeps memory of the boot screen and then disapates after a day which would explain why it started today.... or?
Hi y'all, somebody gave me a DesireC, it needs "Scrubbed"
Really can't do much other than play with the phone coz it's got that "CarrierIQ" crap in it, never mind my good freinds phone number --
Got it to root and S-off, factory reset it, (her number still there, tried that 3 times) as well as boot screen from her carrier...
I've tried making a gold-card? Learned alot but never succesfully made one. There is uncertaintly in the instructions wether to reverse the HeX string needed for the Gold card. Or Windows won't format the SDcard rightly...
Wouldn't all this be easier using Debian? [Linux]
I just want it bare nekked, no carrier, no number, NO SNITCHWARE (carrierIQ)
Do I NEED the gold-card to make this phone anonymous? If so, please point to the CLEAR instructions
Thanks in advance --

no joy, her number's still in it I'd be much happier if the phone number was blank, or xxxxxxxxxx (or whatever the default string is for a never activated phone)
Don't have (or see a need for) a carrier for it, coz I've not yet learned wether I can have it activated as a plain CDMA "No Gee" cell phone, If I gots Wifi I don't see a need for even 3g... It's loaded apps OK over WiFi. I'm a bit skittish even using WiFi till I'm sure it's clean with no CIQ
Once I get it's innards wiped (without any snitchware gunk) want to load a clean, battery efficient, more usable ROM (I don't need Fap-Book or Twiddler or games)
will loading a custom ROM remove the US Cellular crap and number?
Thanks in advance
Virginwidow
Yeah, installing a custom rom removes the apps from your carrier
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda app-developers app
well, so far the contrary little varmit won't let me load ANY rom,
keeps sayin error in /sdcard/update.zip
status 7
using the clockwerk recovery... going to try to force feed it an 4ext recovery image :crying:
There's a old post says if your desire/bravoc is "branded" mine is you gotta make it a gold card, thought that might be what's wrong?
I've tried everything fix the permissions etc... hell I loaded suse5 when I was a kid surely I can figger this out. For some reason the recovery thing is rejecting the ROM image
Thanks folks

which rom are you trying to install?
"US Cellular"?
Holy cow! it worked!
Cyanogen Mod 7, DL'd from clockwork Mod site -- I figgered don't try anything fancy (I tried some of the custom ones, the Slim Jelly Bean, for instance) ...
Naturally I hadda unbrick (I think? It was stuck in the HTC screen) a couple times before tried "keep it simple stupid" :victory:
I'm quite pleased with the ROM its ever so much nicer than that HTC crap == BUT IT STILL SEZ "US CELLULAR"?? How do I get rid of that?
THANKS

Try asking in the Desire C section. This is the Desire (bravo/bravoc) section.

Hi abaaaabbbb63-
I got a old Desire CDMA (PB99400 Bravoc) with US Cellular. Unfortunately it is S-ON and I want to root it. The deal is that the HBOOT version is 1.09.000 and all the tools I have found are for HBOOT 1.06.000
Do you know if it is possible to downgrade the HBOOT?. My phone looks like Picture 1 in your post.
Any advice will be highly appreciated.
Cheers
D
