If I am not mistaken, that is a standard SDHC, and not the micro SDHC that our phones require.

I got this one and works fine:
http://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-micro...1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1281392547&sr=1-1

^That's what I have,
formats to about 14gb of space and is pretty snappy

There are a couple of off-brand class 6 cards that have shown up on ebay and Amazon called TopRam and 3C Pro. Anyone have experience with these?
I am familiar with the usual suspects (i.e. Sandisk, Kingston, Patriot, A-Data, etc). but was wondering if there have been any positive reviews with the ones above since then do tend to run substantially cheaper.

*Edit* Doh, not microsd!!

I'm going to get this and see how well it works. AData is a good company (bought some ddr2 for my media computer). The one from the Amazon link (SanDisk) is only a class 2 while the adata is a class 6 and a good price

The card you linked is SDHC, not microSDHC, won't fit. Wish you could get microSDHC class 6 for that price.

Just noticed that and was about to edit. That's what I get for surfing while working!

If you're lucky to have Micro Center stores in your area, their house brand 16GB microSD card is not bad at all. For $34, you get a card marked as class 2. But I've tested mine on my PC and its write speed is around 7 MB/s and read speed is around 14 MB/s, practically a class 6 card! No wonder this card always seems to be out of stock quick.

dang before when i checked it it was a micro sdhc weird

Class 2 = 2MB/s. The review I saw show the Sandisk can be as fast as 4 to 5 MB/s.

i know what class means. There have seen a few reviews stating 6+ writing. Sandisk is about as as good a quality chip that you can get so paying less and getting quality is a win win.

I tried my luck with a TopRam 16 GB class 4, and I have transferred a little over 8 gb of files onto it and use it daily with no complaints.
I purchased mine on Buy.com because it was a little cheaper there a few months ago when I ordered it.

microSDHC Card?

Any recommendations for a microSDHC card? I'd like a 16GB. I've been reading up on Class 2, 4, 6, and 10 cards. The consensus seems to be that Class 2 is adequate for most phone usage, except perhaps for recording 720p video.
Any thoughts on this? Brands? I'd like to grab a SanDisk from Office Depot for about $32.
I got an 8gb class 6 for $20 (search newegg for item N82E16820208453 i cant post urls yet sorry).
I figure I may be able to use it in other gadgets in the future and it was only a few dollars difference from a class 4 or 2.
An 8 GB doesn't seem such a bad idea for a starter. I have an 8 GB iPhone 3G right now, and I'm trading it to my daughter for her iPod Touch 8 GB. I'll use it for podcasts and music I don't listen to much.
I'll probably trade up to a 32 GB when they come down in price, and maybe in the meantime I'll grab another 8 GB as a backup / extra "film roll" for trips.
Class 10 is meant for super fast write speeds needed for higher end video capture and the like. Usually DSLRs and such. You'll see a significant price difference for class 6 and class 10 cards. I doubt the Aria camera and system really needs, or even can take advantage of those speeds. Best bet is any basic card I suspect. I prefer going authentic Sandisk >=8Gb. I've been burned recently by DOA Polaroid labeled cards so I'm going back to Sandisk from here on out myself.
I ordered a Class 6 Transcend 8 GB card off of NewEgg. I wanted a Class 6 16 GB, but one comment in the reviews scared me away from the Transcend 16 GB card:
Pros: Reasonable price, good transfer rates.
Cons: When trying to partition ext2 anywhere besides partition slot 1 it returns:
"ERROR: input/output error during write on /dev/block/mmcblk0"
Makes it so you cannot use apps2sd for Android.

I wasn't sure if this would apply, but I didn't want to risk it. The 8 GB reviews all said it worked fine with Android phones.
The 8GB card was only $20, and I figured that I can probably deal with that until the 32 GB cards come down in price. Also, the 8 GB card was a 5x Customer Choice Award Winner, with 624 reviews. Since my iPhone was 8GB, I'm pretty sure I can live with that for awhile, maybe getting a second one to take on trips.
I personally like A-Data, Transcend, and Kingston. I've had compatibility problems with Sandisk before. I like these brands because they've never given me compatibility problems. I've bought a lot of cards from Transcend, but recently, I'm leaning more towards A-Data because their cards are generally pretty fast, like this one.

I got a 16GB card from Sandisk on Newegg for cheap, slapped it in there and it worked perfect. It is a SDHC card also but so far no issues at all.

I got a 16gb microSD class 2 from frys for $17.99 after mail in rebate sounds like a good deal to me. The brand is polaroid by pny, but who cares about the brand.

I've been using the stock card, but used an A-Data 16gig class 6 to root the phone. I'm planning on buying another one to use in the phone. Class 6 may be a little overkill, but i use it in my helmet cam, and i'd like to keep a spare one around. i doubt i can fill 16 gig on the phone.
Bunnie Huang of xbox hacking and chumby fame has done a forensic analysis of a handful of microSD cards in the pursuit of the best quality to include with the chumby device. He determined, among other things, that:
"Kingston is revealed as simply a vendor that re-marks other people’s chips in its own packaging. Every Kingston card surprisingly had a Sandisk/Toshiba memory chip inside, and the only variance or “value add” that could be found is in the selection of the controller chip."
The article is an amazing read.

You'll fill it up quickly if you load all your music on it. Personally, I'm looking forward to when 32GB MicroSD cards are more widely available and the prices are a bit more reasonable.
I picked up a class 2 16gb Polaroid from fry's and I've had no problems. Usually I would never go for that brand (usually go with Kingston or patriot) but the price was good at 25 bucks. Have had no problems whatsoever with it.

16/32gb microsd - where to buy?

I have a HTC Desire and im after a larger storage than 4gb included.
I'm a bit wary of class 2 cards in fear they will be very slow. And I'm also wary of fake cards on ebay for example.
Also does class 4 vs 6 make a large difference?
I want a 32gb if its the right price (and not class 2?) but im not sure where to buy from. The site must be able to ship to new zealand.
Thanks.
I know that Verizon is supposed to be selling 32GB microSD cards, not sure about the class but I don't think their class 2. There normally $150 but have been on sale for $99 at least 1 or 2 times. So even if it is a class 2, still better than the $199 price for the Sandisk 32gb one on Amazon. Either way good luck, I hope you find the card your looking for!

I bought a 32gb from http://www.jr.com.
Seen the verbatim 32gb mSD class6 at amazon for 89$/free SH, and seen the 16gb's from 25-60 depending on brand/speed
Hey just wondering, where are you getting info on the micro SD cards? All I have found so far says 2 is faster than 4. I'm not saying I'm right your wrong but I just purchased a class2 today under that assumption.

lol. that is regular sd card not micro sd.
There is not a 32gb class 6 micro sd card on the market as of today.
Yeah, class 4 is about twice as fast as class 2 cards. I would say the best price/speed ratio right now is the Kingston 16GB Class 4 MicroSD card. Best places to buy micro sd cards online would be Amazon and Newegg. There's hardly any bull**** with the products on those 2 sites.
Amazon UK - You've now got 32 gb class 6 micro sdhc at £88.00 link class 4 at £85 link . I just ordered a class 2 for £64.49 including postage - link
Hope it helps.
Uhmm, a bit of confusion in my mind, wich class is enought for my Galaxy S?
The 'class' rating on the card can basically be thought of as the tested minimum transfer speed (sustained - not random. A random write can far exceed the class rating).
class 2 (~1Mb /s)
class 4 (~2Mb /s)
class 6 (~3Mb /s)
and the highest I've seen is class 10 (~4Mb /s) which I doubt any of us are going to buy.
So far as I know, there is NO CLASS 8 - don't buy one, it's probably a fake. By the way those ratings are in mega bytes not mega bits if you need the bit speed just multiply by 8.
Now if you're ever told 2 is faster than 4 you can laugh in their face - when (dealing with technology) has a lower number ever been better???

I meant to answer this earlier but any class would be more than enough for the galaxy s. The reason you want a higher transfer speed is that loading 8, 16, or 32 GB of data can take forever depending on the type and amount of data. As far as the phone is concerned, a class 2 is fast enough for a swap file, video/movie, or music.

Hey gang. I am new here. I just purchased a 32gb card class 2 for my Samsung Vibrant. I noticed it handles just about everything except recording hd video directly to the card. The first few seconds during playback show as rainbow colored garbled pixels then clears up to play clearly. Reduce the recording resolution of the video and it plays fine. Record hd video to phone then transfer to card and it plays fine. It is a brand new card (kingston) with next to no data on it so far. Anyone else having this issue? I am thinking I need a card with a higher class rating.....

To record HD video smoothly you are gonna need at-least a class 4 and maybe a class 6. Class 2 doesnt write fast enough to keep up, thats why you had the pixelation distortion.
As far as a 32gb class 6 card, I am afraid we are out of luck until these cards come onto the market. Samsung has been working on a new card I heard.
Hoever, newegg does have class 4 cards in 32 gb for around 100 bucks.
Hope this helps.

Hello. On ebay 32 gb class 10 is maximum 50 dollars, 16 gb is max 27 dollars. But i dont trust if they are real or fake. You know, they make Samsung's, sandisks fake and no clue to understand if it is like that.
So, where is best to buy, cheap and safe? Amazon, ebay?
And what brand, kingston Samsung, Sandisk?

AS far as I know the class 4 by kingston is the highest class 32gb micro that is currently available.
I agree with chaz. I purchased a cheap 32GB from Hong Kong via eBay and it was garbage! As always, caveat emptor.
Just bought 200 of them
Yea the 32gb card for under 40 bucks is a scam no doubt........or a once in a lifetime deal...Verizon has the 32 gb card for 49.99 for 2 hours and they got swamped with orders.
be carefull guys........there are lots of fake sandisk cards going around.. I personally have the 32GB Class 2 from Sandisk that i bought from Verizon and have no issues with it. My buddy bought a 16GB from bestbuy and it was only a 4GB.
Stay away! These cards are usually a much smaller 4 or 8GB card which has 32GB printed on it. The beautiful part is they are designed to appear to your OS as a real 32GB card, so everything will be all rainbows and lollipops at first... That is, until you start filling it and eventually end up going over the actual capacity of the card. What happens after that? Well let's just say it's not pretty.
Your data is not worth the risk.

I'm running the 32gb Sandisk class 2 purchased from Amazon for $75. Read speeds seem to be several mb/s faster than the stock 8gb card. I think it's a good value at this price.

I've been running this for a month or so, and it's fantastic. It's just what it says -- I ran some speed tests when I first got it, and it came up with something around 4.5 MB/sec write speed (didn't copy it down...should have). So basically it's a class 4 as promised. I picked it up when it first came out at newegg for $87.

Well, crap... My 32GB Wintec is in the mail right now. I hope it lasts longer than yours did.
So far, my Wintec 16GB has been working as advertised. As of right now, I would suggest it to anyone looking to upgrade their SD card.
I had to return 2 Wintec's b/c of poor performance. I Then tested a cheap Kingston and Sandisk (whch were both faster then the Wintec at most file sizes) but not where I wanted it to be. I have a a couple of high end cards for my dSLR but I didn't want to spend that much for my phone. I finally settled on Patriot LX for price performance.
If you have a Micro Center in your area you can pick up a "Micro Center Branded" MicroSD card there for dirt cheap.
I bought 2 8GB class 2 for $13.99 each and a 16GB Class 2 for $27.99
Heres the kicker. The supplier they get them from marks them as class 2 but they are Class 6.
All three cards have a write rate or 6+ MB/sec and a 13 MB/sec read. Tested on a 2 different windows machines and the SD Speed test app from the market.

I'm trying to find a good value, and I've found some class 10's on ebay for like $13, but I know there are variables such as what format they are, but I'm not too hip on what's best? I have a class 4 SanDisk 8gb, and it's time for something faster with more space for all of my backups. If someone maybe has an ebay or amazon link to something they've bought & have been pleased with that would be great! Thanks in advance.

You can grab a 32 gb from Wal-Mart for a little under $30. Why not go that route? I have 2 of them but use a 64 gb atm.

What class are they? Also, is there a certain format I should be sure they are? I have 4 8gb cards I've been moving from phone to phone forever?
Do you need a good one? Up to you, man.
**Good fun ribbing at your thread title. We call that an upswing in the sales world.**
Horrible way to close a deal, btw

Class 6 and reliable when I got mine.
I just ordered a UHS-1 30mb/s read speed, sandisk 32Gb micro sd card for 28 euro, for performance i would go with a class 10 or UHS-1 which operates as class 10s maximum speeds
Ideal for HD recording etc.
On a side note, any memory cards purchased off ebay should be tested for their true capacity, use a german software called H2testw, its gold standard for testing memory read/write speeds. And total capacity
One can not determine if the seller is 100% genuine or not unless its a credible company
It is possible to have a memory card stating its 32GB size for example, but in reality this card could really be only 8GB in size, a tiny program could be installed on a hidden partition and as you save more files to your card, once the 8GB limit has reached it overwrites your oldest files with the newly saved files to keep space, operating systems are fooled into thinking the particular card has a full capacity of 32GB which is not actually true

they have sandisk 32gb on amazon for $17 f/s.. not class 10 (i think 6) but for the price who cares.. class 10 is useless unless you coping large files.
I just bough a 32gb Micro SD card on Ebay for 14.49 free shipping SDHC Memory that's good enough for me.

what class? also be careful with ebay cards a lot of them are fakes.
Grabbed my PNY 32 gig at best buy its a class 10 and has pretty good benches online for $40 right now. It isn't as good as a deal as ebay or amazon but with all the insane amount of counterfeit cards I really felt the still over priced on sale micro sd was a better option.

The worlds fastest micro sdhc is the sandisk extreme pro at 95mb/s, the largest size is 16GB at present, but the speed is useless in a phone, as no phone supports UHS 1 specification.
if it's to be used in a phone then the samsung 16GB class 10 is the fastest at write 21mb/s and read 24mb/s, largest size is 16GB.

Thanks Man! I never heard of sdhc before? Until Android supports it then it won't do much good for me, because I only use sd cards these days for transferring files from between phones, media storage, etc. I generally use usb drives for all my other portable storage needs, but I'll definitely be keeping my eye on sdhc for any advancements in compatibility.
My new sandisk class 10, is well over twice as fast as those old class 4 cards I was constantly shuffling around! This is great for transferring large rom files & movies to external memory.
Better go for SanDisk sdhc class6:thumbup::thumbup:

I meant sdhc sandisk extreme pro, and in the midst of screaming children I didn't finish what I was typing. Though I did not know that 64gb or larger is called sdxc? Is that why it seems they have to be formated differently out of the box or ppl tend to have issues when using them with Android?
