[ROM] 09/08/2010 FroydVillain 1.1.9 BETA - Froyo for Hero with Camera - Hero, G2 Touch Android Development

FroydVillain 1.1.9 INFO & Release Notes:
Hi folks, ninpo has been working on this one non-stop for the past few days, so he is having a well-earned rest, and I'll write up this release.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
REMEMBER the ROM will only be at peak performance after it's been rebooted a couple of times, and when you've opened your apps once prior.
adb install won't work on this ROM, until you tick "Unknown Sources" in the Menu > Settings > Applications menu.
This appears to be a new security feature. Similarly, apps pushed to /data/app won't work either. You might not notice the issue, but the app does not get any of its permissions it should have, meaning that it is probably useless, and might FC constantly or whatever. So remember to tick the Unknown Sources box
VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
When you install this ROM, DO NOT USE GOOGLE BACKUP OR RESTORE. It really slows the ROM down, like all Froyo ROMs, and it uses loads of battery even when you think you're not doing anything. So it's not cool. So turn it off in the setup wizard
This ROM does NOT come with the optimal kernel installed. It comes with a safe one. You NEED to read the section "kernels" below for more information about these, and which to choose Then, once installed, open the app "CPUSpeed" and set up your CPU speeds. This ROM uses the interactive governor, which gives much better battery than other governors... So, set interactive as the main governor, then set your minimum and maximum. Then repeat this for sleep mode. If you have a 352MHz base kernel, set both the max and min sleep speeds to be 352 MHz
So... What's changed?
[*]CAMERA WORKS FOR VIDEO AND PHOTOS (thx cyanogen)
Includes DSPManager
Autobrightness fixed
Includes new CPUSpeed app- no need for SetCPU
Faster boot process
New boot animation
Pressing menu twice will unlock screen
Big kernel changes (more info to follow)
Different build method to improve binary performance
So... How do I get it?
A full wipe is MANDATORY for this ROM, regardless of what you're upgrading from
See here for download information etc.

woo hoo.. downloading now... 1.1.1 is so stable, can only get better from that

Yaaaaayyyy!

Trying to install! You're great!

wow peeps..nice work ..flashing right now!

Isn't it safe to let Google Restore do the work restoring all your files and information etc and thén turn it off in the settings? That's what I used to do and it doesn't seem to slow my phone down or consume more battery.
Otherwise. Cheers on this probably amazing ROM once again! Flashing this after I get back from work.

Oh my this is amazing and amazing and amazing oh my oh my......

awesome rom, tested a bit and i'm finally gonna drop my 2.1

Just FYI, the two kernel variants (19MHz base or 352MHz base) are for the two different types of Hero users. One group apparently cannot put their phone to sleep at anything less than 352MHz or all hell breaks loose and the others can set low speeds no problem.
So choose based on your past overclocking methods.
EDIT: I'll post a kernel changelog tomorrow. Too tired now. Lots and lots and lots and lots of fixes though.

Just one more quick little question if y'all don't mind.
Does this release include the stock keyboard dictionaries that were missing in 1.1.1? Like Dutch etc.

just flash - or do a dalvik wipe before kernel-flash?

Ok, awesome rom. There is some strange thing in the settings menu - "@221390573215" or something. Pressing it causes a FC.

No need to wipe anything when flashing a kernel.

Yeah it's a bug, my fault. I cheat and use Cyanogen's repo so I don't have to make my own Hero vendor/devices. I didn't strip CMparts out properly in this one.

[ROM][Sense 2.1][Tue 15 Jun] ChocolateEclair 1.0.1 "Very powerful stuff"

This ROM is based on the official HTC Eclair 2.1. Thanks Behnaam for the kernel sources and [email protected] for his repack.
As I am not a Sense fan, interface-wise I've replaced some of the icons, sounds and some other goodies. I have to say that I find it pretty usable, but even so I prefer vanilla. Anyway, I'm sure that some of you will like it . I built this to be more usable than the default 2.1 Sense.
ChocolateEclair 1.0.1 changelog:
- removed chinese widgets
- zipaligned apks for RAM usage optimization
- changed bootanimation(not glowing anymore)
NEW: Full Right-to-left language support thanks to genich1971.
If you're running 1.0, you don't need to wipe!
The next update will come out when HTC release WWE version, so I can add more languages. Sorry if your language isn't available here.
Features:
- stable and fast kernel, pre-overclocked @ 691MHz / 160MHz
- tweaked internal task killer, scheduler and battery life management
- all hardware working
- A2SD - enabled by default if you have an EXT partition on your SDCard
- Launcher PRO
- very fast boot process(~40s)
- included modules(cifs, cryptoloop, loop, tun, ramzswap)
- USB tethering works properly
- compcache (using heyodee's script)
- excellent battery life
- root
- you can change music volume while the device is on sleep mode
- youtube HD
First boot will take a few minutes, don't panic.
I have also included LauncherPRO in case you're not a Sense fan. To enable it, go to Settings > Applications > Manage applications > HTC Sense > Clear defaults. Then press the home button and choose Launcher Pro from the list.
CAUTION: YOU SHOULD USE THE NEW RADIO(63.18.55.06OU_6.35.15.01), BUT THE OLD ONE SEEMS TO WORK FINE TOO.
Additional information/FAQ:
How do I enable Apps2SD?
Apps2SD is enabled automatically if you have an EXT2/3 partition on your SDCard.
Can I use SetCPU or OverclockingWidget?
Yes, you can, but you can't do anything with it because the frequency table only contains three elements. I suggest you leave it as it is.
What's next?
When HTC release the WWE update, I will add more languages... but nothing more. I think this has already reached its highest level of performance.
At the first boot, I can see the Android boot animation but then the screen goes green.
Don't panic, it still does its thing - building dalvik-cache to be more specific. At the next boot it won't do it again.

Well I'm a fan of your vanilla rom, but I am tempted to try this, as your work is very good.

Thx downloading now.
Let me know how it works. I find it snappier than VanillaEclair, and that annoys me in a way... but I'm happy with it.

LOL. I'll let you know.

Going to try out this ROM. I report back
Oh, that's what I've been waiting for. Multumesc!
Can't wait for your feedback.
Cu placere
Booting now! Thanks in advance for your great work (also on VanillaEclair)!
Linpack scores anyone?
~3.05MFlops
First impressions..
I find it like you said RaduG, more snappier (faster?) then VanillaEclair.
Very nice bootscreen! Everything seems to go very fast.
I don't know if I keep this ROM because I too love vanilla
I report back in a day or 2
Does A2PD work in this rom?
When will A2PD work in VanillaEclair?
A2DP works with this ROM. A2DP will be also available on VanillaEclair soon, but I can't tell exactly when.
I just enabled Launcher Pro and wtf, it's even faster
Can't you just "copy-paste" the files needed to make A2DP work in Vanilla, from this rom?
Or ask Villain/Cronos guys for help. A2DP is taking too long, already.
If it was that simple, I would've fixed it since the first release came out
FC's appear on first boot:
Clock (process.com.htc.android.worldclock)
HTC Widgetr Download Manager (process.com.htc.RosieUtility)
There's no reason for that to happen. It probably does that because of the high frequency... I'm building a more resonable kernel in a few minutes.
FC's
My auto response to Force Close's... Did you do a full wipe before flashing?

[ROM][Sense 2.1][Fri 16 Jul] ChocolateEclair 2.0 "Why is it always me?"

ChocolateEclair 2.0 is based on the official HTC 2.1 WWE update, which means it supports a whole lot of different languages.
I've put a lot of time and effort in getting this release ready, so it should be the last major update the ChocolateEclair project will get. I really hope you enjoy it.
ChocolateEclair 2.0 changelog:
- Dalvik-Cache to /cache
- new bunch of kernels(only default and freekernel for today, the rest will come tomorrow)
- added some very nice wallpapers(HTC wallpapers -> the last 7 of them please tell me if you like them)
- changed boot sound - i like it more this way
- desire lockscreen - there is no big difference, it just fits better with Sense IMHO
- updated Astro and Launcher PRO
- added ipfilter owner module to all kernels(requested)
- data roaming enabled by default(requested)
- speed improvements

What has been done to the official ROM:
- added root
- added busybox
- changed kernel
- a whole set of changes and optimizations
Note: The recommended radio version is 63.18.55.06PU_6.35.15.14.
Note: Please perform a full wipe if you're coming from a previous relese. It is not mandatory, but it's much safer to do so!
Features:

- tweaked internal task killer, scheduler and battery life management

NO, it is not deodexed. And A2SD worked before, didn't stop after a few apps... I don't know what you are talking about, really.
Have the icons been changed from the standard Sense ones? The Internet one looks different. And come to think of it, the Footprints icon looks like the Gnome icon?
All icons are stock.
Good!!
nice work bro.. keep it up..
Radug,
fyi:
I wiped everything with amon-ra recovery image.
installed, got a gapps FC, so I couldn't sync with my google account.
But a reboot fixed it...
[EDIT] launcherpro, maps and astro doesn't appear as installed in market... can I just reinstall them using the android marketplace?
or do I need to remove them first using astro for example.
Everything seems to be running fine
BTW I installed with just a dalvik wipe from 1.1r2 and it's still running fine.
so are the different kernels purely for different CPU speeds? or do they offer other differences too?
How many other kernels will come? Will there be a 768 kernel?
I will backup now ;-)
Great work man! And my theme still works for this ROM. Very nice
very good rom!!!
but boot sound is very strange...(notification sound?)
and lock screen is strange(the wallpaper don't move....

Yes this works great on my VM Intercept. Make sure you flash stock Sprint 2.1 then stock Sprint 2.2, then flash this. For some reason going to 4.2 caused a bunch of FC's, so I flashed 4.0 and then flashed 4.2. Has been working great ever since. How to link is below.

I like nightlies! As soon as my girl let's me mess with her phone, ill slap this baby on there. 4.2 is the best her phone has seen. 2weeks, she hasn't had a fc or needed to reboot for those odd reasons that occur time to time.

Sorry if this is a noob question, but which custom recoverys work with this phone? I read in an unrelated post about inxane's, but haven't found how to get it on the phone yet.

I, and Team Villain, are proud to present you with the third major release of the SenseGinger ROM. This is completely rebased on the latest Vision RUU, so most if not everything should be working as well as you would expect from a Sense rom.
It also includes a couple of my own tweaks and fixes as illustrated below in the screenshots.
Now on to the release. As you might expect there are a couple of things that are not working, some being more critical than others. I'll try to keep the list below as up-to-date as possible, so please read that before reporting any bugs.
As always a picture says more than a thousand words, so here are some screenshots:

wooohoooo!!! cant wait!
YAY Villain! CONGRATS for the awesome work you do and sorry you've been busy but as always it's greatly appreciated!
EDIT:
man this thing is huuuuuge. 176 megs? yummy.
EDIT (again):
Can confirm this is working nicely! My HTC launcher (bottom bar on the home screen) was compressed and looked all funky (looked like the images weren't aligned correctly) but is back to normal after a reboot. Woohoo!
EDIT (bug):

Fastboot is for when flashing the recovery, if you already have CWM 3.0 you can skip that part and just flash the rom.

Fudge yeah!! Got gummy on my nexus, and love it! Can't wait for working 3g so I can throw this on my xoom!

is this a new version of gapps from the 11/28 one?
Titanium Backup would not restore user apps from previous ics nightly .

Thanks for this.
Installed Rom and apps no issues.
Couple of things I noticed.
On initial start up, it says it is skipping Wifi setup, then takes you to the Wifi setup screen.
Love the battery icon, but the Network icon is still there, any chance you could remove that ?
I like that you have included a file manager, I keep my backups on the external card. It was a bit of a pain as I had to go to the market to get Es file manager just to get to the External card with the other rooms.
Wallpapers are a nice touch but I find they do not scale correctly ? That's why I have to use Wallpaper Slide show to sort out scaling ?
Have not tried OTG yet, but I feel its an app issue to get that working for large internal drives.
Seems to be a problem with the md5 checksum for the rom. I've downloaded the file on 2 computers and on my Xoom. All three report a checksum of B6C410298E5816E3DE1AB206FC1BFBE5. Not a match. Well, going to assume the one in the OP is incorrect and flash it anyway. It's the old no pain, no gain thing I guess.
Flashed and up and running. Haven't been running it long enough to check everything out but I like what I see so far. Very responsive and running smooth.
Thanks for the ROM kejar. Nice, just as one would expect from you. Only thing I know of so far that could use a little tuning is that md5 sum in the OP. . Thanks again.
So great to see you on the xoom cant wait for all the awesomeness to come
Looks promising. Hope for working 3g soon. Installing on my xoom now.
