Moto car dock issue - Droid X Accessories

Yesterday using the dock and navigation I noticed that the phone would kick me to the car dock mode and the navigation icon would disappear from notification bar. A few seconds later the icon will reappear and keep destination but I can't figure out why it kicks me out of navigation for no reason. Sometimes it takes a while to do it and sometimes it will do it after 10 seconds

I had this happen to me once when using nav, a reboot fixed the problem and I haven't had it since.

I'll give it a try.I think I remember restarting the phone right before the trip though. I have to say I am in love with the dock. I was streaming pandora and running navigation and using voice to text to send text messages all with out a skip in the music. Verizon had great coverage

Happens to me too, and others after reading a few other forums. I now close the car dock app and start the nav app from the app drawer. This seems to fix it for me.

I have to say I bought the droid x over all other phones because of the accessories. Before my 30 days were up I was trying to get an evo but now aster getting the car dock I don't want to get rid of it. I'm sure the multimedia dock is awesome too

how do i stop sms from waking up the screen?

when i get a text my phones screen turns on is there a way to stop this?
No, there isn't a way to practically do that.
Although, if you cover the proximity sensor, the screen won't wake up when u get a text, but u can't cover it because then the screen will go off as soon as u make a call too and u wont be able to end calls and stuff...
I hope this gets fixed in Mango !!! As when I leave the phone charging on my desk at work people can read my text messages when they walk past if I receive an SMS.........
Temporarily cover the prox sensor? Put your phone away? I wouldn't leave my phone sitting out unattended at work.

I just checked to see if it showed the text if the password is set. It does. That probably should be an option

just keep your phone face down while charging
That would do it.

Charging @ work
If you keep a spare work charger the you can try what I do. In one of your desk drawers, or if there is enough space between the top of the drawer and the bottom of the desk, run your charger wire into the drawer and you can charge your phone in the drawer

Tasker, but it might be out of your league.

[Q] How Often Does the GN check for an NFC Signal?

I'm considering buying some NFC tags and making one launch the Car Home app since I'm tired of waiting for an official dock. Then I could put the tag on the dock so it would launch Car Home like a normal dock.
However, I'm worried that if the phone and the tag are constantly in contact, that it will keep sending the signal to launch the app over and over again.
Does anyone know how often the NFC chip scans for contact, and under what circumstances it happens (based on screen on/off/lock)
Why would they be in constant contact?

For example, if you put the NFC tag on the back of the car dock, and set the phone in the dock (the phone would be in constant contact with the tag on the back of the dock).
Yup, that's why! I edited my post to be more clear.
from my experiance, several times a second, but only if the screen is on. depending on the dock, you could have it slide past it as you insert the phone into the dock.

[Q] White dot in notification bar: what's that?

Hi guys, few days ago I was using my Galaxy Nexus when a strange white dot came out on the left side of the notification bar. It appears and disappears with apparently no reason and, if you try to open the notification menĂ¹ while it shows it, there are absolutely no notifications related to this strange symbol.
When you close the notification menĂ¹, it reappears and then goes away without any interaction.
Today I discovered that I can reproduce this kind of "notification" by opening the Clock app and then touching twice the screen to reduce the backlight and to raise it back.
Anyone knows what's that?
Here's a screenshot:
That is a Google Now Card Notification, just pull down your Notification Bar, and swipe it away, it'll get rid of the dot.

I never noticed that. That dot looks VERY faint. My Google now notifications look different IIRC.

Thanks for answering but that's not related to Google now and when I pull down the notification menu there's nothing showing.
Any other ideas?
Run addon detector from the market. I think you downloaded an app with push notifications.

Well that is odd then. Puzzling. Every time that dot appears for me, it is due to the fact that I have a Google Now notification. Try a Task Manager to see what app is open, and when you close it, see if the dot continues to appear.

Thanks for the smart suggestions. I'll try both the solutions and reply! :good:

I just saw this same exact dot today. I was watching a full-screen video with an embedded YouTube link. The 3 soft buttons went into "discreet" mode and turned into 3 pale dots. All the notifications on the notification bars all turn into a single pale dot like this as well.

Did anyone ever figure out what this was?
I had this show up on a Nexus 7, playing a YouTube video in full screen made it go away so I'm guessing as stated above it has something to do with video controls hiding or something.
Is it related to SIP VoIP accounts? IIRC that's about what it looks like when connected, except green. Did you try to set something up there and it's showing that faint white dot to show it's not connected?
Mine is a blue dot and I recently found out what it was hehe
Same here, on my Nexus4. I can make it pop up at any time by tapping on any picture to hide notification bar and buttons and then tapping again to show them back (in my case it works every time i hide and show buttons, no matter which app im using - gallery, video player, youtube, etc). That white dot then pops up. Sometimes it stays for only a fraction of a second, sometimes for half a minute, and then just disappear, whether i open the notification bar or not. My guess it's just some weird FW flaw (besides, this dot looks just like these white dots indicating hidden buttons).
Any news? I have it using different roms, I assume it is something app related...
Eureka !!!
Had this dot with the fading lines. Noticed the dot disappeared right when I updated an installed app on Play Store (first it was replaced by the downloading arrow and then disappeared completely)
If you have this dot, check for apps' updates. You probably have at least one...
*Noticed it's a two years old thread just after posting... sorry
Confirmed for me

some apps you guys are opening have GPS related features, such as the photo apps ability to give you the location in which the picture was taken. When the dot appears for me, I turn off location (GPS) and it disappears every time. Hope my experience helps someone! If anyone still needs it :highfive:

I haven't seen this in a little while but I thought it was related to google now weather (they've since updated that icon to be clouds and whatnot)
I can also see this small white transparent dot on the top left corner of notification area it appears on my phone mostly when I check my whatsapp shared media images from whatsapp, I just attached a screen shot here,no idea which application responsible for this dot :silly:
For me it was the "Ok google" setup that i started, then interrupted. Once i went back into the "Ok google" detection setup under "Voice" and finished setting it up, the notification disappeared.

Page buddy triggers

Hi all.
I'm looking on a command to trigger the page buddy for the dock.
I have a bluetooth dock and I would like to get an automation that when the bt is connected the page will appear.
Thanks.

Tick in page buddy in display.

Sorry, maybe I was not too clear.
I have all of them turned on, but I'd like to use a command to trigger the dock page, without really docking.
Pretty much to simulate the action that shows the page.
any ideas?
Uhm.
And why is that that you want it.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
I would think you could set up tasker to do something when the BT is connected, like popup a custom scene or something. Not the ideal solution but I would imagine it would be tricky to make the launcher respond this way.

He expained why in the post above.
Well, the reason why I want that is simple.
For example, when I pull out the pen, the s-pen page appears with all the tools i need right there.
Same when I plug in the headphones, the page appears with the music widget, podcast, and so on....
But I'd like to use the dock page when the phone connects to my bluetooth speakers at home, so i can configure tunein and some other apps i use mostly at home.
I did use a tasker to get an action for the bt connection to the device.... just I dont know the action to show the page buddy.
