Does anyone have correct O2 (UK) apn settings for MMS? - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there,
Currently running Pinky 1.6, but having no end of troubles getting MMS to work. I can receive them fine, but I'm not able to send.
I did manage to get the APN's setup correctly on a previous rom, but for the life of me I can't find the settings again that actually worked. Googling has given me a thousand and one different answers, none of which are actually working for me!
Can someone who is using O2 and Handcent Messaging, and that has managed to successfully send a MMS, please post their APN settings?

Multiple MMS messages on v32 M2D Vodafone

Hi,
I use Arcsoft MMS 5.0.31.7 installed on Artemis v32 M2D rom using Vodafone UK. I have a problem with multiple MMS messages. If I send myself an MMS then I get one copy immediately, 1 after 3 hours annother one 2 hours later and a final copy after 3 days!!!
Has anyone else had this problem? I don't know if it is a problem with my phone or Vodafone?
Updated: Still got this issue. Anyone else got the same problem or can confirm they only get one MMS on Vodafone UK like you should do?

I've still got the problem with multiple MMS messages. Has anyone got the same issue on Vodafone UK or can anyone confirm that they are OK and only get one message?

Looks like if you set the retry count to 1 in mms options you won't get this.
However this is a workaround. I believe the cause is on Vodafone's network as this has happened on different phones and rom's for me (All Windows Mobile Phones!).

Thank you for the reply. I tried that one and it doesn't work. I do have some information on what it is though. The artemis should send a POST HTTP message back to the MMSC's once it has downloaded the MMS. But it is using the wrong URL. It should be sent to the MMSC itself but is sending the post back to the url of the content location for the incomming messsage. This is wrong.
Still no closer to the solution though!
Not found any registry setting for where the POST is sent.

not receiving mms via T-Mobile

Hi all,
Been loving the Desire so far but this evening I got an mms from a friend, presumably showing me his own new Desire, and while the messaging app shows an unread message waiting it doesn't seem to want to download it.
The picture messaging settings seem accurate in the network settings so I'm at a loss as to what's up. This is all via T-Mobile, as per the subject, and everything configured itself when I put the sim in.
Any ideas?
I'm on t-mobile and receive and send mms mostly okay but there have been occasions where my mms wouldn't send at all. tried a different picture and it worked. I've had problems with mms and t-mobile on my iPhone before I got my Desire so I think it's a problem with t-mobile not the Desire?

You need to enable mms for you account, they are not included in the contract and thus you need to activate them online or by contacting them if it doesn't activate when you receive or send an mms.
All good suggestions, thanks.
I checked my account online and it's set to allow picture messages. I also just sent a picture to a friend, which arrived fine. I did notice that it disconnected from the net both before and after sending, so I'm thinking it's using different settings to send them.
Under Settings/Wireless & Networks/Mobile Networks/Access Point Names it does actually show two connections. One called T-Mobile Internet and one called Picture Message.
They're both very similar, except the T-Mobile Internet has no username/password set and no MMS server details. Also the APN type is set to "default" and "mms" respectively. Wondering if I should try combining the two...
Fake Edit: I just asked the same friend to send me a message back and this time it worked. Guess I just need to keep trying every once in a while to see if it happens again.
T-Mobile accounts generally are enabled for MMS to begin with, but to finalise the settings and actually activate it, you have to SEND an MMS. This activates the service.
Once you have done that, you can then normally receive.
if you hadn't sent an MMS before this, that is probably why.
Yeah that could be it, too; although I'm sure I'd sent MMS messages on my Touch HD before (same SIM). Ah well, it seems to be working for now at least! Thanks again all.
If you're using Handcent for sms / mms, that might also cause your issues...

O2 UK MMS

Hi folks,
I've tried a few ROMs recently and I am having trouble sending MMS's. The only ROM I've found MMS works is Leedroid.
Can anybody help me work out what is wrong please? Thanks
Have you looked at the APNs to make sure they are correct ?
I had similar MMS issues with T-mob. I checked the APN settings and all was good.
I eventually found that using a messaging app like Chomp would not send MMS yet the stock messaging app would!
Therefore I now use chomp for sms and the stock messenger for MMS!
Try it out and let us know if that works

Verizon HTC One CM11 APN Settings

Alright, here's my story, after switching from Sense to CM11 when I first got my HTC One a few months ago things were working alright, then at some point I lost the ability to send or receive mms messages. I looked online and found that there were a few people with the same problem, most said the problem had to do with the apn settings, the solution to was either modified apn settings or using an alternate messaging program, such as 8sms.
Anyways, I tried several different apn setups to try and get my mms back, my LTE internet worked, but no mms. Eventually I found a setup that allowed me to send a mms to someone, but not receive one. I figured that was a good as I was going to get it.
After a few OTA nightly updates I decided to tinker with the apn settings again; my hope being that one of the new nightlies would have fixed the problem if I restored my apn settings to default. This didn't help and cost me the ability to even send mms. Needless to say I scoured the web to find usable apn settings again (I prefer to use the stock messaging app), eventually I ended up Frankensteining several together and found a solution that allowed for me to send and receive mms, as well as my LTE internet!:laugh::laugh:
[TL/DR]
Found APN settings that enable sending and receiving mms, as well as LTE internet (with a lte subscription, it's not a hack or anything).
Android Version - 4.4.2
CM Version - 11-20140430-NIGHTLY-m7vzw
See attached picture for settings...
still having mms issues

[Q] Can't send/receive MMS

Hello,
I can't send or recieve MMS messages on my Z1 Compact.
I have verified my APN settings are correct. (My provider is Telus.)
I have tried Google Messaging, Hangous, Textra, and 8SMS.
I'm using Slim-amami-4.4.4.build.9.0-OFFICIAL-8314.
I have scoured the internet and tried most of what I found.
Any help would be appreciated!

It might have something to do with the size of the picture attachments. I flashed an RU version of the .108 firmware when it came out, had the same problem with MMS. Turns out the standard size for a picture message on the RU build was 350k, in the UK service providers have a limit of 275k. If no one else in the Slim thread has this problem then it's time for a complete wipe and reflash.
Have you tried the Slim thread?
Thanks for the reply.
I've ruled out max size as a problem because I can't even send an empty MMS, and because I can't receive MMS. I have posted in the Z1C Slim discussion, with no response.
I'll try a reflash and see what happens.
Cheers
I think I remember having a similar problem a few years back and discovered it was because I hadn't activated mms requirement with my carrier. Strange but apparently true.
Update: It's the ROM
With a clean install of Slim-amami-4.4.4.build.9.0-OFFICIAL-8314, and the included messaging app, I still can't send or receive MMS.
With a clean install of cm-11-20141112-SNAPSHOT-M12-amami, and its included messaging app, MMS works just fine.
Can anyone point me the right direction for troubleshooting this issue? Thanks!
