Samsung OEM Blue Dot Matrix Case vs Body Glove - Captivate Accessories

Has anyone gotten the blue dot matrix case from Samsung? Im thinking of switching the bodyglove case for it.
http://www.daydeal.com/product.php?productid=45327&cat=5096

haven't tried it but it seems to have the same fit as the body glove which is the best fitting case i have seen.

I have the bodyglove right now, but so does the misses so Im lookin for something else.
the bodyglove is TPU but the samsung is "gel." I was hoping someone had it so they could compare the material.

i have a body glove case and I will definitely suggest it over samsung as it fits perfect and strong enough. it also looks cool..!

I have a body glove on mine and it's great. Tight fit, looks good, doesn't make the phone too big, feels strong enough to protect it well. Definitely worth the $25. Although I do like the look of the Samsung case, especially with the Galaxy S branding on it. But aren't silicone gel cases a dust magnet in your pocket like a rubber case?

My wife has the OEM gel case with the pink filigree and I have the Body Glove case ... the fit is very similar to the body glove case. Note that the power and volume buttons are covered (as opposed to the Body Glove case)
A couple of pictures here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7636234&postcount=36
The material is definitely softer (than Body Glove) - but not flimsy like other gel cases I've owned in the past.

Hi:
How is your case holding up? I have the one with Pink, and after only a week and a half of using it, the black has rubbed off the corners, and now the pink is exposed. I have never even dropped it, and only use it inside my purse or pocket.
I wonder if I just got a defective one.
Thanks!

The same is happening here - I was considering emailing Samsung to complain, but kept forgetting.
Thanks for the reminder! I'll let you know what Samsung support has to say about it. If you contact them and hear back, I'd be interested to know what they tell you too

Quick update - after waiting 2 days for an email response from Samsung support, I called. Since I'm outside of the 30 day return period, they will be RMA'ing my wife's gel.
I imagine that the new one they send me won't perform much differently - but I've got a fortte case on order to replace it when that starts wearing too
Cheers,
Carlos

Well, I got a reply after 2 days saying I had to call. I haven't bothered to, since I bought mine on Ebay (new in Samsung packaging), I doubt they'll do anything for me.
Hope you have better luck with the new one.

You might have a chance if you deal with their warranty center (since you can provide a record of when you purchased it on ebay). It does carry a 90-day warranty ... so it's probably worthwhile to call and check. The worst that will happen is that they'll tell you they won't honor the warranty.

As for this vs the Siedio case, I'm thinking this one is a bit thinner and would fit in my pocket easier.
wow like the bodyglove cover.whats the price? and can i buy one online?

It's 29.99 - and will be available at Sprint stores upon launch. You might be able to grab one now depending on how charismatic you are...
As for online, the online sprint store may be selling them - not sure, you'd have to check on the 4th.
Nice I like the look of that case and I just orderd the ghost armor case as you get the whole body armor for 14.99, the bodyglove might be better but I might use both, and then be covered for everything...
im usually not a fan of these type cases but i think ill grab it for the honeymoon period also
Will never get another body glove again. Their tabs break off all the time. Went through two of them in a month for my TP2.
damm i checked the sprint accessory online store and its not available yet i guess but ill b heading to the store to c if they got any before launch.so far got screen protector for the SUPERSONIC.
I've been searching online for the past couple of days for a case for my Evo. I really want this body glove case. I am going to stop by my Corporate Sprint Store tomorrow on my way to work to see if they have any and if they would let me buy one. I called them earlier last week about another matter and the store associate started talking about the Evo. When I told him I would have mine this past Friday he was shocked and wanted to see it. So maybe...and I mean maybe if I go up there show them my Evo and everything they may be nice and let me get one of the cases. Plus I have a Sprint Premier Account, so we'll see.

YES! I've had the exact same results with the Samsung moment case, the front panel is held on by 4 small plastic tabs.
These tabs easily break off just by taking the case on and off. I replaced my case twice after giving up completely and going naked. I'll never buy Body Glove again.
I would be very careful with the Body Glove or Seidio cases. I bought the Seidio Innocase II and put it on my iPhone 3GS on day one. When I got it ready for sale a few days ago, I removed the case to find some scratches on the chrome bezel. The felt on the rear protected the back just fine. If they lined the entire case with it, then it would be good. The bezel on the Evo appears to be shiny plastic, so I would expect it to scratch even easier than the metal iPhone bezel.
I've tried other cases...

I have tried other cases, they are of the cheaper rubber cases that have this interlocking mechanism on top and bottom that were okay, the fit wasn't good but the cases were good. The unfortunate thing is that comparing a TP2 case with the Evo case is apples and oranges.
That IS until I saw that the Evo case is also a 2-piece snap on. If there is no sliding keyboard why then is it a two piece snap on and not a once piece hard case? The tabs break, pure and simple. If the reset button is under the back cover, every time you take off the back bodyglove cover, you risk breaking the tabs holding the case in place.
When I say I have gone through two bodyglove cases, I wasn't kidding. The thing looks good, until the case parts start randomly popping off because the tabs have broken off. Not really a protector then, is it?

Hmm, well thanks a lot guys, I've definitely changed my mind on this case. I'll probably go naked until Otterbox comes out with a case (in which case the honeymoon phase will be over, and I'll be more worried about long-term protection).

Give the Sprint Silicone Case a try. I got it and love it. It's nice and cheap especially with a 25% premier customer discount. It covers everything, slips on easy and comes off easy, good fit, and it actually makes the power button easier to hit and feel.
http://shop.sprint.com/NASApp/onlin...=Carry+&+Protect&selectedAccessoryID=CZH1980R
Its pretty nice. I have it and its decently built. Only structural issue I see is by the volume keys. But otherwise seems quite solid.
I like the look of the case, very cyber, but if it splits the longest way around the edge& is only held together with little tabs, I'd look elsewhere. On a one-piece phone with no moving parts there is no sense in it. I'm looking at the Seidio since it has the smallest seam, it goes around the middle, and is made to be held in holster. I don't like shoving phones in my pocket any way and especially not this giant thing. Second choice might be the Sprint one with multi colors or the silicone one.
I love my Evo body glove
I bought My body glove from the Dover, NH Sprint store from wireless link. The thing is amazing picked it up for $20 (special discount)
When I bought my evo, they had that body glove case at the store for $20. I got it, and I like it. It almost has an "iron man" type of look to it. The thing I liked about it was that it was thick enough to protect the camera, meaning when you laid it down, the camera didnt touch anything.
It is a pain in the butt to take off though. It has the back piece and then a really cheap-feeling front piece, and they clip together around the phone. Its hard to un-clip them at that point. I've already bent the hell out of the side of the front piece, but it still looks alright.
Regardless of that, I'd say its worth getting.
i have it like above mentioned feels cheap when taking on or off but when on its great protects camera lense i have no complaints so far i might be grabbing one of those 3500mah batteries so ill probably have to change sooner or later

Looks awesome but I would still get a Zagg cover
Im gonna go ahead and order it and post pictures and such.
I've got the Body Glove that I bought with my phone in a Sprint store and think that its awesome...
Very thin, but fragile when taking it apart because of how thin one part of it is and how you need to seperate it.
The back is the only part that is tacky, do unlike the Body Glove for the Hero, this one does not stick to everything from every angle so they clearly learned their lesson. The rest is high polish black plastic and is quite attractive.
I'll take some pictures later.
R
I was going to get one but if you look up some reviews on it, it appears it might break (meaning the tabs would break off), I have 3 batteries and ordered a 2 more knock offs to go with the 3 htc I have as a couple were from my touch pro 2. The problem I have is if I change the battery a lot, would the case crack the mounting tabs? Also I have heard from people with the body glove cases they scratch the sides of the phone. I did install the ghost armor and was thinking of putting this over it, but the clips breaking or possibly breaking with me changing batteries really worries me.... There is a review of someone with video clips of the case... I wish they had felt all around it and I would probably get one.
i got this case, and think its pretty good, from the front you can barely tell a case is on there, the back is kinda tacky, but its growing on me. i do think it will be hard to get in and out of the case, but im ok with that. if i dont like it i may just go with a cheap silicon case after a while...or maybe the seido case. i like it better than my silicon case on the hero because it always got stuck in my pocket, this one doesnt, its easy in an out.
oh yea, and its doesnt get as dirty, or have lint and **** stick to it as easy as the silicon case. plus silicon cases just look to cheap ass...this phone deserves better.

They had this at my sprint store. The salesman was nice enough to let me try all the cases they had on my phone (today not launch day). By far I think the silicone one is he best, it's the cheapest thinest easiest to put on and remove and it says htc on the back. I hated the body glove one for the same reason as best buys platinum one. It adds to much thickness feels cheap in hand and is a pita to take off.
Oh yeah and with the silicone one its much easier to hit the power button than without any case and the body glove one made it a bit harder to hit the power button over stock.
i have the body glove.. picked it up as I wanted to have atleast some sort of protection.
Its ok so far. Doesn't add bulkyness at all.
I brought the body glove case as well from sprint today. I like it but as the op stated earlier it is hard to hit the power button. The one thing about it that bothers me is that it doesn't snap completely at the vol up/down area. I'm not sure if anyone else who owns the body glove case has the same issue as I do.
Well that helps me decided. I guess I'm sticking with my Silicone Gel from Sprint. Its pretty good for its purposes.

I actually modified my body glove case where the volume buttons are I snipped of the thin flimsy piece on the top half much better.
Also incase anyone wants to know the evo with the body glove case fits in the leather belt pouch sprint also sells. For me this is all temporary until they release the charging case.
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
I would not buy that case. I got mine on release day. The piece of plastic around the volume rocker area is super thin. I had the case for less than a day before that thin strip of plastic broke. I think I'm holding out for that charging case.

i bought it and i like it alot i though it was gonna be like the body glove from the hero that i also liked but not the bulky but the way it protected hehe
my room mate went out and bought some 3 pack from a sprint store in the mall, and gave me the body glove one posted, and to be honest, mines perfect.
the entire thing snapped together perfect, i havent had to take it apart yet.. so i suppose it could wreck it, since it is kinda flimsy, but i think its about perfect.
i have some thin blue resin rubber case on my nexus, and thats what i really wanted, but ****, this makes the phone look pretty sleek, and ive dropped it a few times already, and the case seems to take it, no splitting.
again, volume rocker area, and power button area, are snapped together perfect, no gaps. need pics?
I have it I like it no issues with the volume rocker area because thats the first corner I snap together

case broke in 1 day
I got this case Friday with my new phone, but by Saturday evening, it had broken. There is a really thin and fragile piece of the case that goes around the volume rocker, that got a lot of stress just from it's placement and broke.

That is what happened to mine. I returned mine to sprint and they gave me a full refund. Now I'm in a bind between getting the 3 pack from sprint or getting the innocase II.

Which hard case would you recommend?

I much prefer slim hard cases, typically seidio brand. I can't seem to find a good alternate. Quality is much more important to me than price. What do you guys suggest?
I'm on my fourth case and they all suck. One scratches the phone. One turns it off when I'm not looking. One fits too loosely, and one got all dirty the first day.
I'm going to buy this one next in silver. I like the fact that it looks like there's really no case and it got good reviews on the case mate site. I'll let you know how I like it if you want.

I've been using my case-mate tough case ever since they came out with them, and I can't speak highly enough about the quality and fit.

I haven't noticed any issues with the silver barely there case that I just got. But as far as protection goes, probably not the best one for this thread's request.
I also have a tough case, which I highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid case for protection.
Case-mate tough case is great, as someone allready stated I cannot recommend it strongly enough. You won't find a better case for the money or more imo

What about the body glove case? I was looking at that one for a hard case. What do you guys think about it? Anyone use it?
I have a body glove case and frankly it leaves alot to be desired. The case easily doubles the thickness of the phone, and with out fail turns out my jean pockets every time I use it. I'm not sure if i got a bad case or what but the case does not seal properly all the way around the phone. I have had the misfortune of dropping my case from table height (appx 3ft high) and the body glove case did protect the phone wonderfully. I have the full black and chrome case, not the clear back shell. I am in the process of deciding on a different case and thus far I am heavily leaning towards the case-mate tough case.
Mesh case. Love it... every other case makes a thin phone too large.

Hope that doesn't happen with the one I just ordered. But everything else you say about the case sounds great to me. I don't know how many times I have almost dropped the phone from it slipping out of my hands while pressing the volume or power buttons. Do the black Case-Mate cases have a rubberized feel to them?
My vote is for the bodyglove case. I have been through 4 cases and this far is my favorite. It protects gives the extra bulk and looks slick. It also has a kick stand which I use all the time.

Case Mate tough case for me. Silicone inside prevents scratches and tough plastic outside offers some protection from falls.

Here is a couple pics of the body glove in action. By the way it protects well I have dropped it a couple of times and the case comes apart instead of the phone breaking. I dont know how you wear your phone but I slide the phone in my pocket with the clip sticking out.
Trident Case for Samsung Vibrant
Got the TPU case, good fit, but feels cheap. Got the mesh case, looks decent but not much protection. Got tired of waiting for Otterbox. Almost got the CaseMate Toughcase but they only come in black or pink. Then I came across this last week. Check out the plugs and the buttons, even the back camera has clear cover over it. Liked the attention to details so pre-ordered it. According to the website, they're being shipped this Wednesday 11/17. Since I'm new, I can't post the link, here are some photos of the product. Just google Trident Cyclops Samsung Vibrant. Be sure to "Like" them on Facebook to save the $6.00 shipping. I wish ElementCase would make an ION3 or Liquid Carbon for Vibrant. I'm so sick of iphony and ipotty getting all the good cases.

I got my silver case mate barely there and it is awesome. I guess it is more of a looks than protection thing, but the front of the case is over the bezel so when the phone is face down there's still a gap. The silver is really good looking. Case mate also sent it the day I ordered, and I got it from GA to CA in 3 days.

Are you sure it wasn't just a coincidence? The complaints were about the chrome, not the metallic silver. I haven't seen anything, and my phono widget says the signal is as strong as ever.
I really like this:
h tp://cgi. bay. om/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370454207751&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
- sorry - no outside links allowed on my xda account yet(?). You can figure out what shoud go in the spaces...
It's hard plastic with a rubbery feel. It's smooth enough to slide into my pocket and not pick up lint, but sticky enough that it can sit on my center armrest in the car without worrying about it sliding off.
There's also about a 1/16th inch high border around the screen that does a good job of keeping down any chance of a drop resulting in the screen touching anything the ground.

Figures!!! The upper left corner of the body glove case doesn't want to keep closed. I just sent an email to the seller for a refund. I'm thinking of just getting a extended battery with a rubberized back cover, and a new pouch to fit it.
Yea that's why I have the casemate now, hopefully you didn't order it on ebay there was this one seller that I bought it from and he would not repond to my messages about the case, also my bodyglove case won't stay closed at all anymore. I just think their quality control isn't all that great.
The tough case feels like abs plastic and is textured so it doesn't catch on pocket lining when you pull the phone out your pocket but it still feels good ib your hand and doesn't feel like its going to slout og your hands

The textured sides give very nice grip. The description says silicon/gel, but I'm told by someone on this forum it's actually TPU. I can tell you it's nice and firm and feels very protective. Bought mine from a shop called chitterchatter for £5, where I also got my phone from too. Case is even cheaper on ebay. Here's pics I took of mine. Screen protector needs redoing, too many bubbles, lol.

I originally bought one of those silicone ones in the first post, it was quite loose on my phone and the surface kind of stuck to my jeans pocket making it annoying to take out, so I then bought one of the gel/tpu cases that looks identical to the one in the post above, which does a sterling job.

I bought this from ebay for £2.90 and am very pleased with it, collects a bit of dust at the bottom but a lift and gentle blow gets rid of that. Feels grippy and adds a nice bit of bulk to the phone aswell.
About six weeks ago, I bought 4 TPU cases very similar to those mentioned in the OP, for US $8.00. Fortuitously, they arrived on the same day I took delivery on the SGS2. They fit pretty well, although the long sides are a little loose, but not enough to be a danger of slipping off. On my case, the power & volume switches are covered by the case, which has button skins stamped into it. The back is textured with a diamond pattern, and the sides look slick but do have some grip.
Like most cases, it has the top right corner cut out to accommodate the antenna on the Korean version of the SGS2. The first few days I had the case, I noticed it attracted quite a bit of dust, but that appears to have subsided in the last few weeks. Overall, it's much better than I'd have expected a $2 case to be; I'd bought 4 figuring they'd be so crappy that only one of them would fit well, or they'd fail in short order and I'd have to upgrade to a CaseMate, PDAir, or Krusell.

I've ordered the 2nd and didn't get it yet but I'm afraid it will be crappy

I picked up one like that from Amazon. I sent it back today. It did not fit well and I hated that it would not slide in and out of my pocket easily. It also attracted lint from my pocket.
I prefer a hard case.
I have my eyes on a SGP Silke case.

Just ordered the above case, initially had the same type from the same seller for my Atrix and it was a really good case.... Lets hope this is just as good
Yea, i bought 2. But you need them TPU one's and not those gel covers. Mine fits pretty wel and worth the 2 bucks.
I bought one S line TPU case, but I find it prety hard to press the buttons. overall it's a really nice case fits perfectly (hard to take off )
i decided to buy this aluminium one :

It is really nice! although the silicone part attracts some dust, but not much, the mic holes are not perf cut, but no problems during calls etc.

Incipio Silicrylic vs Speck CandyShell

I'm trying to decide between these two cases, and Ive heard good things about both of them, but I'm just wondering which you guys think would be better.
Update, links

My vote goes to Incipio.
The dual layer Incipio Silicrylic should provide more protection than Speck, and Speck's are getting a reputation for cracking. (Another reason that I'd never buy from Speck is because they send lawyer nastygrams to people reselling their cases on ebay!)
i went to the att store yesterday and the guy there pulled out TWO spec cases. on one i couldn't get the up on the volume rocker to work. on the second one it held that button down
my vote goes to the incipio dual pro but i'm prob gonna end up naked. the incipio adds more bulk to the phone than the speck AND dirt still gets in the incipio one. i'd like to try the case mate pop case. that'll prob be my last try.
alternatively, the official samsung cases that come in a two pack are awesome. i'm just looking for something to cover my buttons because it's very annoying that they're kinda loose. was expecting GNex quality in the button sturdiness area (extremely stiff/held into place).

Had not heard about the cracking issue, so that is definitely something I'll keep in mind. And, I had heard about the reselling issue, which is quite sketchy in my opinion.

Also had not heard about the volume rocker issue... making me think that Incipio is definately more the way to go.

yeah i was naked for over 6mon with my GNex. still haven't dropped that one... lol
i don't drop phones. the S3 is very thin, though, and i feel i need to put something on it at least. i'll prob go back by and pick up a pop case just to give it a try. if all fails, samsung oem case it is for me prob.
Casemate Pop! beats both in this case IMO. It has the look of a Speck Candyshell (which are usually my favorite), plus kickstand, plus rubber grippage on the sides. The buttons are very tactile. And of course the case extends above the screen so dropping it on the screen won't break it. It fits even the largest headphone jacks (looking at you, big monitor-headphone people) and has a big space for large aftermarket USB chargers.
The silicrylic is very nice it is what I have on mine. I had the unsteady buttons and the silicrylic covers them perfectly and makes them feel extremely solid and stable and takes just the right amount of pressure imo to push them. I have the white s3 and the light / dark gray case it looks very good. I have had a lot of people say they really like my case. It also makes the phone very easy to hold onto compared to no case and seems like it provides good protection.
I've owned both and honestly, the speck is junk. If I were you, I'd order both and see for your self, then send back the speck.
FYI, I found on another thread where you can put a piece of paper or scotch tape inside the case above the volume rocker and it fixes that. I was upset when I ran into that problem on mine but it works well now. Easy fix on that particular issue.
I have the speck case only because it goes well with the MoshI ivisor. It looks good but has only been in my pocket with nothing else and looks rubbed and scratched on the back. Does feel like it could crack easily. I won't take my phone into work until I find a otterbox, which I will more than likely remove the built in screen protector.
