Wifi Channel enable help - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there a way to enable channels 12,13,14 without rooting the phone.
My HTC is a Telstra branded one and in the advanced wifi settings it does nopt show the domain settings.
Is there an app to get around this or something
Cheers

Roaming and data connection

Hello everyone,
I'll get my Desire in 5 days and I have a question for all you that already has one.
I use "3 Italy" as provider and I need to know if there is a simple way on Desire to block data connection when the phone will go in roaming.
On my good old HD2 I've used NoDataInRoaming. There is something similar for the Desire (or the solution is built in the the phone)?
Someone has a solution?
Thanks,
ghale

Thanks mate,
I've not the manual with me because I've not the device but now I'm downloading (the italian version) it and I'll start to read it.
Thank you very much!
In Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks settings there is an option for data roaming, I think it is not ticked by default so the desire will not connect to data when roaming.
When you select to turn it on it gives a pop up warning that 'you may incur significant roaming charges'.
Hello,
thanks to you, too.
I've just find that on the Desire Manual.
Thanks.

[Q] HTC Desire HD Wifi proxy settings

I believe that wifi proxy settings on HTC Desire have been a very controversial issue. Is it fixed now in the HTC Desire HD? Are the settings now available? Please help me, I really love this phone and I'm planning to buy this and I am hoping that wifi proxy settings will be available in this phone.
does anybody know if wifi proxy settings are available in DHD already? please let me know
I got a Desire HD yesterday and cannot see where you can add proxy settings. In my opinion, it is still not possible. Perhaps in 2.3?
you can... rooting and installing transparent proxy

this quite an old thread, but anyway, here it goes...
Settings>Wireless & Networks>Wi-Fi settings>press menu and choose 'Advanced'>
Then you have your settings.
Wi-Fi proxy for proxies ofcouse, just tick "Enable Wi-Fi Proxy" to ... well...enable it!
hope that helps
i also tryed my best with different proxy apps, even with transparent proxy but not a single one work for me...
BEST OF LUCK

Cant help directly as im on T-Mobile but Vodafone seem to provide some quite decent support on their site
http://help.vodafone.co.uk/system/selfservice.controller?CMD=BROWSE_TOPIC&PARTITION_ID=1&CONFIGURATION=1058&TOPIC_ID=267315&parent_id=8051#s
yeah ive looked there.all over the vodafone website.cant find support for the defy.
i havent registered my number with vodafone.maybe if i do that they will send me settings.
You shouldn't need the settings sent to you.
If it's a Vodafone locked/branded handset then the settings should be pre-loaded and if it's an unlocked/unbranded handset then it should configure itself automatically when you put the SIM in (that's what my phone did anyway).
If you go into Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Access point names, is there anything there?
Your last option would be to manually enter the settings I guess.

i swear froyo has hotspot built in by default? you shouldn't need an app...
menu > settings > wireless and networks > portable wifi hotspot
there's a separate setting menu where you can set up your network name and password, make sure you're connected to 3g and you're good to go
I think us cellular took out the ability so I need to know if I can get it back or make one with an app thanks for the reply

hah this is beyond me then. i've heard stories about mean US carriers...but hey at least u got access to 4G...
maybe tethering apps without root, or rooting and custom rom should give you the ability. however will your carrier still detect either method?

Vodafone (UK) Wifi Calling on Android 10

Sorted wifi calling on Vodafone UK using https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=78858125&postcount=6
Updated to Android 10 (Keep typing Windows 10 which is scary!!!!) and now the option is gone.
When I enter the code and go into phone information Wifi provisioning is greyed out and cannot be turned on.
I have turned wifi calling off via the vodafone app and turn back on again but still no joy.

I didnt have wifi calling at first, i did search for it on settings tab and it re appeared, im vodafone UK also.
Make sure carrier settings is up to date aswell.
Wifi calling is still here
Can someone on vodafone uk compare your wifi calling settings with mine please? Was working before update. Cant move the settings to on.
Thanks to anyone who can
Show your IMS settings, there u see, if u're registered for VoLTE or WFC.
Perhaps anything went wrong with APN settings after update?
Choose back to default on APN settings, or check them manually with the providers one.

Mines provisioned, but they are administrator only, hence greyed out and you cant toggle them yourself, only your carrier unless you root it, try adding clearing carrier settings, if you do you will have to clear the message app aswell, but sync will bring back messages, download shortcutter, navigate to carrier settings and toggle wifi , and also add ims apn, name ims, apn name is ims, set to ipv4 and ipv6 on both, dont fill anything else in and save it. now toggle it, it should jump back to default after you toggled it. If you disabled the wifi tab on vodafone website, each toggle takes 24 hours to register
All sorted. Took 3 attempts with vodafone. The last person said they would force the settings through the server and hey presto. All sorted.
Am now on vodafone settings version ending in 305.2 (It may be of use to someone!)
