[Q] Any know is a restart app? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm looking for an app that allows me to schedule a restart for my fone... anyone know of one?

That's a good idea. I was thinking just yesterday that my wife would benefit from this. I checked her Hero the other day, and it was on 620 hours of up-time.

holy crap, the last phone I had that would stay on for that long and be stable was my Excalibur

my blackberry was never powered off or restarted unless i flashed an update.

Actually, I left my last phone (ZN5) on for weeks (maybe months) without restarting. Never needed to.

CT Scheduler.
It's in the Android Market. Some are reporting that the reboot and shutdown functions do not work. I think their reports were premature. I got it to work, but you have to let it fail a couple of times until it asks for Superuser Permissions (therefore, root is required for this function). Once you select 'Allow', it works fine. Strange, but it works. It's a well designed scheduler. Very straight-forward and easy to use.
Edit: You will also need to have the Superuser Permissions app installed as well in order for the restart and shutdown functions to work.

CleanRAM auto clean

Great app! However, I seem to be having a problem with setting up an auto cleaning schedule. Its never seemed to work for me and this was confirmed when I tested it with a specific time and nothing happened. I've enabled it and set it to automatically run a clean every few hours or so to avoid having to soft reset often but it doesnt seem to be doing working.
So my question is, what is the procedure to getting the auto schedule to work and has anyone else run into this problem?
Thank you

yea it doesn't seem to be working for me either. i also was sure to do the enable sense in the registry too.
Sorry for bumping this thread. But I didn't want to start a new one.
Was just wondering if anyone has been able to resolve this issue?
I'm having a similar issue. DIdn't think the scheduler worked at first because I set it for a specific time (11:30pm) and it never seemed to work. After a while (several weeks later) all of the sudden my phone is rebooting at the same time every day (only it's at 11:30am). So strange and a little irritating.
I removed the scheduler but it still reboots every day. Not sure if it's due to this app's scheduler, but a lot of coincidence.
I use the scheduler for a daily cleaning and have had no problems with it.
yeah thats what i do, no problems with the schedular...

Do you notice it ever auto cleaning then? I never have done, so not too sure why it wont work. Is it noticable while it's cleaning?
I too have also noticed my device auto resetting a couple times in the past week at around 12.30am (I had to be looking at it at the time to notice it). Not sure if its due to the auto clean, as I currently have it turned off. Cannot be bothered to even begin to try and solve that particular issue atm though.

[Q] reboot random

Hello,
I had random reboot before with my leedroid 2.3b, and I had one also 30 minutes ago with AuraxTSense, so I'm asking if the cause is the rom or not.
When he reboot, he's not hot, I see it reboot sometimes and the phone was at normal temperature (approximately with my hands lol). it reboots max 1 time per day.
So I'm tellng myself that's it could be due to:
- radio
- S-OFF
- one app
For radio, I try tu update from 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14 to 32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23, and I'll see.
For apps, the problem is that I would have not to restore all my apps, to see if one app cause it.
What do you think of it?
Thanks
My question to you is: what are you doing with your phone at the time it reboots?
Playing a game, navigating or browsing the web etc?
I just got my Desire back from htc with a new motherboard, it used to reboot randomly also. Now it doesn't anymore
Are you using SetCPU?
Could be an issue with the kernel, or how one of the SetCPU profiles handle the kernel during screen off (interactive I think?)
Or as fnotsje said, could be hardware related

Sometimes I do nothing...maybe it's due to an app services?
But with your old motherboard, it reboots several times per day, or like me?

It's installed but not configured in smatass mode, you advise me to uninstall it and to test?

What is surprising, that if it's that, i t should reboot many more times than one time per day no?
Thanks

It depended on the usage, if I used it alot, it'd reboot more than if I used it less frequent.
But I'm not sure it is the motherboard issue, because you're mentioning the phone is not hot when it reboots..

Yes and always only one time per day, just one time maybe 2.
I desinstalled SetCPU, it changes nothing.
What do you advise me to do?
Wipe and install minimum apps, and see if I've that, and little by lttile, reinstall one new app...test few days again...?, it will be long :-(
Thanks.
Your phone shouldn't be rebooting randomly really. It's happened to me when I overclocked my CPU and played a game. It didn't like it at all. It sounds like something has buggered up somewhere down the line. If I was you, I would try quite a few more roms other than what you've tried. If it's still rebooting then it would need to get looked at by HTC or by going through you carrier (if they do it). That's what I would do.

With the minimum of apps, for example to see if it reboot or not?
Because if t's an hardware problem due to the radio, it censed to reboot even with few apps no?
For carrier as I'm at Orange like you, I think, they could change fastly my phone maybe. I will try that if anything works. You think that if I do that, I've to find an orange rom? I'm asking myself if they accept an HTC even restored with RUU.
Thanks
I have the same issue and ITS DRIVING ME MAD!!!!!!!!!!!!
I never experienced this with my stock ROM... so I firstly tried a gingerbread ROM... when it started... i then moved to a Sense Rom and still reboots occured... I'm now on my 2nd cooked sense ROM and still having reboots!!
WTF? is there a quick sollution?
thank you!
SO MANY follks seem to be having problems with [email protected]! Is there seriously no sollution to this or a common cause..?
had the same problem & is with HTC getting fixed
there are a few posts about it if you search - the only fix seems to be to send it to HTC for a new motherboard as some presume that it's overheating.
11 march still waiting on return of my Desire
I can relate to your issues. Mine kept rebooting when I tried to use the GPS. Like you I had mine rooted, S-off and was using a custom ROM.
After many tests, I downloaded a stock RUU, installed a different navigation app and once again, it rebooted.
Bottom Line: take it back. Its probably defective. Just make sure you're running a stock ROM. Download an RUU.

Phone just reboot by itself

Hi there.
Would like to ask a few questions regarding reboot issues.
1) It is normal for our device to self reboot itself?
2) How long can your device "stand" or "with-hold" itself without it rebooting? (if any)
I felt that it would be approximately every after 6,7 days. After this period there is a chance for my device to self-reboot. I tried several ROMs and it is the same outcome.

HI BUDDY
its weird.... your device reboots by itself? when he wants?
2-my device never reboots by itself
i´m reading in a spanish forum that there´s people that has the same problem.. but in a htc diamond and desire....
one of them solved it flashing a different rom.... you tried??
when your device reboots its hot??
SEE YOU TOMORROW.. i´m a little bit drunken..LOLOL
Sent from my nokia 3210 running the worst simbyan with XDA app powered by LOL
Hey man. How are you doing? Lol.
Yup. I tried several of them. ARHD also has the same outcome. Well, it is just so random that it reboots itself. Example, when I am halfway sleeping, without me touching the phone, it can just reboot itself. I notice the device reboot because of the R2D2 sound of LeeDroid's ROM. Thats how I notice.
It is possible that be that some of you all out there experience the same thing, just do not realise while sleeping?
Mine reboots itself too. I've tried to narrow it down, and the only thing that I found was using the Gingerbread keyboard on 2.2.1. When I use the default I can go weeks without rebooting, but as soon as I use it, I get a reboot at least once a day. Maybe there is an app working against you. My thinking is an app that is on the SD card is triggering it. I think this way also because usually when my phone does reboot, I have an update waiting once it turns back on. I'm still troubleshooting, but if I find any solid answer I will keep you posted.
Hi bobbyphoenix
Reboot at least once a day?? I guess that is kind of abnormal isn't it. Lol. Yea, it is probably the some apps is not working properly that leads the device to reboot itself. Maybe the use of Task Killers(though I know it is not advisable to use), can help kill the apps that is triggering it. And hence able to solve the problem? That is what I am thinking about.

YEP BODY!!!!
how are u?
you solved the device´s problrem?
i´ve curiosity..
i staid reading about your problem and i found another possibility:
you can test if your phone has a trouble with the "safe mode"...
you know it?
safe mode its developed for to solve problems with the apk installed by the user...
finally the all the changes realized by the user since the first boot of your rom...
maybe tryin it your device don´t reboots.....
if don´t reboots you are more near of the solution... you did something that went badly...
see you soon... and @super... sorry again for my poor english LOL
Hi SERGI.3210, I am fine. what about you?
I have not confirmed yet, cause yesterday I have been rebooting the phone for few times. Flashed Kalagas Mixed theme (that's why). Lol.
Erm, what is that "safe mode"? Bootloader? It sounded like a solution to solve FC issues to me.
So far no issue yet. maybe after 6,7 days again. Lol. Well, it just reboot once. Did not actually reboot so many times all at once.

Ram Manager - Possibly what every Nitro Users needs!

Was browsing the Android Forum on XDA and happened to run into a thread about a program called Ram Manager. Its getting pretty much rave reviews in the thread and market so I decided to give it a try. I don't want to get ahead of myself but my Nitro is seeming to run much better with it. Just thought I would pass it along to my fellow Nitro users to see if you guys think it makes your phone better. There is a paid and free version on the market at
https://market.android.com/details?...WFydHByb2plY3RzLlJBTU9wdGltaXphdGlvbkZyZWUiXQ..
The thread on XDA can be found here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305060
UPDATE: Ram Manager requires ROOT
I have no connection with this developer and just want to pass a possible lag fix down to the community.
What the heck, $2 wasn't going to kill me, so I bought it.
Only been running it about 10 minutes but I've been opening and switching back and forth to my most commonly used apps and so far it's been pretty much instantaneous. So far so good!
Thats what I thought also. Posted here because I wanted to make sure I wasn't nuts. I bought it too. Like to support the devs here.
guys is this something you have to start up manually after each reboot? i restarted after an install and didn't notice it running in my app manager... thanks!
ive got it running, seems ok. i think at this stage we're dealing in millisecond differences, lolz.
i think i saw a bigger difference in things when i installed juice defender ultimate and set it up properly.

You do not have to start it up after each reboot. It adjusts memory scheduling parameters and they are saved after each change made.

i installed it, ran it, restarted phone and its not running. so yeah i guess we have to start it everytime when the phone boots up, unless someone with more expertise can answer this.

Ram Manager changes memory settings on your phone (memory scheduler settings that prioritize certain appliciations and set the timeouts for applications before they are cleared out of ram) that persist through reboot. When you change your ringtone, do you expect to see a ringtone service running after every reboot?
You guys are so spoiled! The phone is lightning fast (as soon as you get rid of the laggy stock launcher). How much more fast do you need to be satisfied?
/me gonna try it now too...
thought on this so far? how are y'all figuring out if it makes an impact or not? i've been running it for several days now and disabled it this morning to see if i notice a diff

Ram Manager is executed After Startup, but all it needs to do is change memory settings, then it ends.
i've been trying to confirm that it *kills* apps that are running that are not being used. have several running all morning that haven't been used.

[Q] HOX Loosing the plot?

Hi all, heres the story:
At first, I thought I was loosing my mind, I kept checking my phone and the WiFi was always off, which is weird for me.
Anyway I turn it back on and go about my day, check half an hour later its off.
I was like "im sure I turned that back on" anyway same again half an hour later.
So I was watching it this dinner, and low and behold I watch both my WiFi and my network connections restart themselves like someone was switching them on and off, but the WiFi didn't re-connect and stayed off, wereas data re-connected ok.
It goes on ! I then realised that my phone was calling people by itself, which is also weird as theres no buttons to accidently press to call people? (ITS TOUCHSCREEN!!!)
Anyway, today I recieved a text off someone asking me why the heck I'd just sent them map co-ordinates.
So someone or my phone is sending people map co-ordinates....
The ONLY thing I can think of is Cerberus, could Cerberus be causing this?
Is this the phone telling me its on its way out?
Any solutions?
THANKS ALL !
You have kind of answered your own question. Just uninstall Cerberus and see if it fixes it.

Yay yet another completely useless response thanks but I said could it be Cerberus?
Does any1 else have a suggestion I could gain something from?
As stated before, I will try removing Cerberus but would like any information or suggestions please.
Malware? Maybe you installed an app that's malicious.
Hickory, Dickory, Dox...Snowflake approves of my HOX....
try and remember what apps you installed around the time this started to happen and work your way backwards

Thanks for all your reponses, thats the thing I'm really picky over apps, and havent really installed an app for months on my HOX, as I generally do everything on my N7 now.
UPDATE:
I un-installed Cerberus, cleared cache and tried to find any left behind data(wasnt any?)
Also deleted my device off the Cerberus app website
LOW AND BEHOLD THIS MORNING CONNECTIONS TURN OFF AND ON?!?!?!
What can be doing this? I only have apps from trusted Vendors such as Natwest, Vodaphone, couple of games, Tasker etc :/
Any ideas?
Can it be Tasker? It's supposed to automate tasks. Maybe there are some causing all this. Try freezing it.

I also thought it could be tasker, but Tasker has been setup for months and months, and not changed for atleast 2/3 months+
I checked tasker, and theres only 3 profiles, which have nothing to do with any connections.
They're profiles such as, plug headphones in and music player appears.
PS - Cannot freeze, stock and un-rooted.
My mate had similar issues with his SGS2. Upon examining the phone I discovered an app called Blackmart Alpha, I discovered it was a program which downloads cracked/patched apps. Did a hard reset of the phone and all was fixed, well not all, he was very pi$$ed with me for losing a heap of apps.

I don't download any dodgey things, all my downloads are through the play store.

Also its nice to do sometimes, like having your room painted isn't it, feel all fresh and happy haha.
