Help Please - unable to install CM6 - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I followed the method to root 2.2 (it came installed on my Evo) in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765496
It appeared to work perfectly, when I look in my list of apps, I see superuser permissions...
However, every time I try to install CM6, I get this error:
assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "0.76.2000"; assert failed: getprop("ro.bootloader") == "0.79.0000";
I am running bootloader 0.93.0000 with S-OFF.
Can someone please tell me what I'm doing wrong and what I need to do to fix it. I have searched and searched, and spent several hours trying to figure this out before asking for help.
Thanks...

same problem here!!

The way i fixed the problems was. I went to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752832 and flashed the PC36IMG.zip file from it. Now i have no problem installing cm6

Damn this has been asked frequently. Try checking the Q&A where, by the way, this should have gone.

Checking for a bootloader version is the cheap/wrong way to be checking for the ability to write to a partition.

HELP!!! Update

okay so I have been rooted for some time now and decided i wanted to unroot (for reasons im still trying to figure out) so now i am on 2.1 update 1 and cannot update to froyo. when i go to settings>about phone>system update it says my phone is up to date and when download the official 2.2 update and rename it to update.zip and try to install it it says a bunch of stuff then e: error in sdcard update.zip (status 7) update aborted. my radio (baseband) version 1.00.03.04.06 . i have done the PB1IMG thing then tried to update and i get the same thing! I am pissed!
any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Matt
I haven't unrooted in a long time, but maybe it's related to the fact that you're still on the old radio? You might need to be on the official froyo radio which is 2.15.00.07.28
Thank you how do I get the new radio?

Be sure to take extra care when flashing radios. Don't pull the battery while it's updating and even if it looks like it's not doing anything, LEAVE THE PHONE ALONE. Read up in that topic for more information on how to flash radios.
I appreciate your help, I will study up and perform the update tonight. When I post back tonight with the results hopefully I will be updating to froyo

If you are going to go through the trouble of updating the radio and then hope the OTA will push, why not install the update? Its the same process and you'll be assured you have the 3.26 build.
Because I can not install the update right now if you read my first post I explain. It says update aborted

Your doing it wrong. My idea is you would be using hboot to flash the update. It will work and not fail.
You issue using the update.zip idea is phone is checking for files that aren't there and then aborting. Hboot will not look for these files and will upgrade you.
An even easier idea would be just to run the ruu if you have a windows PC.
I'm just trying to save you time and headache. You don't have take my advice.

alright, I flashed the new radio(2.15.00.07.28) and i am still having the same problem, not being able to update, either way(manual or by ota) and i am still frustrated. the one weird thing is that after i flashed the new radio when i went to recovery to try ro manual update it was clockworkmod!? I have no idea what the heck is up with my phone! does anyone have any ideas?
thanks,
matt

You will have to either reroot or flash clockwork through hboot when you are done if you want root again.

Don't open or unzip the file. Simply rename and move to SD card. Check the md5 to make sure the zip didn't go tits up during download.
The ruu is a .exe. I'm in class and don't have time to explain. Just Google it.

[RELEASE] 2.2 Froyo Update For the Moto Bravo

here you go xda, in case you missed the beta program:
2.2 for the bravo for anyone who wants it:
http://www.multiupload.com/P7GBI5GE8V
put bloat back first! put all mods back first. root can be left but you will lose it. re-root works with superoneclick, psneuter works best.
copy to sdcard, rename to update.zip boot to stock recovery by holding power and vol down, choose update.zip from sd. update takes a while, enjoy.
Thanks to heydabop again for working this all out with me.
EDIT: If you have trouble flashing this, just use the 2.2 SBF that is in the other xda thread. It works and is the same version as this. SBF does NOT wipe your data under normal circumstances, after flashing the SBF you will be updated and will have all your apps and data easier.
To those who don't know (I didn't), touch the lower right corner of your screen to get a menu once you're in recovery.
Oh and by the way, my overclock app will be updated for 2.2 this weekend
We are seeing 1100 stock on 2.2 with no overclock.
Moto has it running at 1.1?
Sent from my MB520 using XDA Premium App
I'm only seeing 800 on mine. I haven't OCed it.
Edit: The perils of being new...thought you were talking MHz. I'm getting 1200 in quadrant ;-)
Edit 2: Ran quadrant again for kicks and scored 1309. Only modification is my sd read ahead (changed to 2048). Wild!

Are you talking about firmware? Cause the current version for the Bravo is 2.1.
When he said we're seeing 1100, he meant Quadrant benchmark score, not processor clock rate, in case that is what anyone is talking about.

Ooo, haha, no, Moto has the Bravo running at 800MHz. It overclocks quite easily to 1000MHz, I've yet to go higher.
Figured. Wasn't sure what the 1100 was about. Ha ha ha.

yeah sorry, 1100 quadrant we were seeing its still clocked at 800mhz max stock. but my overclock app will be ready soon for 2.2 and i am curious to see what I might see at 1ghz
That's crazy! Froyo. Feels as fast or faster than 1ghz and eclair.

Installing new update with s-off?

Is it possible to install the new update with s-off. I have a stock rom and read the new update supposed to fix the battery threshold and I like the look. I know its not rootable yet but ive been reading some have been successful and just put amon ra recovery on it.Anyone know?

You can just get the rooted version of it on this site if you do the ota you will lose root and so far there is no way to get it back yet .

Why install the OTA when there are complete ROMS here that are better than what you're gonna have with stock 2.3.3???

It is possible if you're s-off with Unrevoked Forever on Froyo. I had to switch to Amon Ra in order to install the update and then reflash Amon Ra after the update. Had to update Superuser after that but after that was fully rooted on the update.
There are several stock rooted versions of the OTA available, there's no reason that you need to lose root just to have the latest update.
If you are keen on losing root though, then go for it. You can install it with S-Off just fine, and since it'll remain S-Off you'll be able to flash a recovery on there and re-root by flashing a rooted rom.
If your intent is to have the latest update but also have root, then just flash one of the already-rooted stock roms available in the Android Development forum.
To hip kat, I actually don't like any custom roms, I'm an ogee only person and I tweak what I want or need myself. To tempe, how did you get clockwork off first assuming you had it? Also I used the unrevoked3 method but since mine is sprint, it automatically does a perm nand unlock.

Well, easiest is to just use Rom Manager to flash alternate recovery, that's what I did before running the OTA. After, you'll need to do it manually. If you search here on "recovery" you should find threads that have the pc36img.zip files for both Clockworkmod and Amon Ra. After installing the OTA, turn off the fastboot option under Settings/Applications. Copy the pc36img.zip file for the recovery you want to use to the SD card, shut down your phone and then hold volume down while turning it back on. Just follow the prompts on the screen from there. After the recovery is installed you should be able to boot up and have root. If the Superuser app give you FC's search around here for the fixed superuser zip and flash it.
You can go S-on with the Unrevoked S-On tool....
I don't want s-on hip, trying to keep s-off. And thanks tempe for your help.

According to the error you posted, it's just the blockbuster app that your missing. Did you uninstall other system apps? Or just that. You need to have all your system apps installed for it to work. I'll attatch the blockbuster app for you. You'll need to install it to /system/app using ADB or using Root Explorer. If adb, do this
adb remount
adb push Blockbuster_htc.apk /system/app
adb reboot
If using root explorer, just copy the apk to the /system/app folder and set the permissions the same as all the other apps in the system folder.
Also, it would be much easier for you just to flash a rooted stock rom. Here's a link for ya. You'd just flash the rom like normal, from within recovery. It'd save you some hassle.

As much as I would love to see that happen (for my own amusement), I do believe in bad karma and if you let someone do that knowing what they're about to get into then you're properly gonna get the bone too......who knows, your phone might just blow up on the way to work while you're playing angry birds or some crap...hahahaha
I've already chosen to just do the rooted ota but I'm trying to figure out if I need to flash the radio. The second link in the topic is showing 2.15.00.04.08 but mine is higher at 00.11.19. The combined link with pri and wimax is the one I don't know yet

I don't believe flashing the radio is necessary if you're doing the stock ota, I didn't have any issues with my current radio while I was using stock 2.3.3 (or any other ROM that I've used so far)
Alright I did the de-odex rooted ota but now the problem is once booted up, I cant update the prl or profile, it gives me an error. Im re-wiping the dalvik cache to see if that fixes it but is there any other steps I should try?
Side question, is a stock rom that came with the phone or an ota update a odex or de-odex?
Thanks for this thread, I have been searching high & low to see if S-Off would stay off or automatically turn back on. Thanks for the clarification!

I ended up testing myself to know for sure and S-Off will stay off if you do the OTA update. If you want to start rooting again, just download Amon_Ra Recovery, and Bam, flash any Rom you want! Thanks for the starting of the thread! Confirmed!

[Q] Cannot get any rom to work (says I'm not marvel or marvelc)

Hi,
I have an HTC Wildfire S with HTC sense, and at the boot screen it says it is "marvel", yet when I try any marvel rom, it gives me an error:
Error: assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device") == "marvel"
etc.
I tried a marvelc rom and I get the same error (but saying marvelc).
Why would neither work? Or have I overlooked something? I have an unlocked bootloader and have rooted my phone. I am S-ON but I have read that as long as my bootloader is unlocked I should be able to load custom roms. I'm in the UK. I'm just interested to try out a newer version of android.
Thanks,
Most likely your build.prop file is corrupted. There are helpful posts around here which can help you. Say hi to the Queen for me!

Thanks for pointing that out. I've checked my build.prop and it looks fine. It does say "marvel" by ro.product.device. I removed the line that checks for this (in updater-script) and have successfully been able to load some roms!
