[Q] something wired after upgrading to 2.2 - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there
I got my HTC Desire from mobicity a month ago and just upgraded to android 2.2 this Monday night, now I found out I don't have any Chinese IME installed, there was one before the upgrade and worked nicely, it supports handwriting too.
Now I have English, Thai and Vietnamese IME, this is something I don't understand, why just Thai and Vietnamese ? I cant remove them. Also if I click "Touch Input" option in language & Keyboards, it crashed a lot, for example, if I tap and hold on the web browser address bar, and select touch input from the popup dialog box, it will stop straight away "The application Touch Input (process )has stopped unexpectedly, Please try again"
I know there are other options like google piyin but I need the Chinese handwriting recognition, is there anyway I can install the old HTC CIME (I believe that is the name) and of course where to download it.
I live in Australia and here is some info for my HTC Desire, any idea ?
so I need help to
find and install the android 2.1 HTC CIME if possible
what is happening to the touch input ? anyone else has same problems ?
thanks

Can't change subject once it is posted ? just noticed that I wanted to say weird, nvm I think people should understand.
No one knows ? if you just upgraded your Desire, could you please check ?
thanks a log

Help Asian Language??

I just recently purchased this phone for work only to find out that I cannot read Korean fonts on sites or email. Im not a hardcore tech or anything but I was told by HTC and Microsoft that it can be done but I would have to go through some third party application. Can someone please help me out with this issue? I really need to see and write asian font. Thanks in advance.
Have you googled?
http://www.google.com/search?q=add+korean+support+windows+mobile
Hi Mesquire,
I've googled like you've suggest and I found very first one with touch pro installing font into windows/fonts/ but I can't seems to find windows directory on my TP2. Is there any code to unlock the hidden directory or something?
TIA.
I've ran into these and installed to my Touch pro 2. (it says it's from HTC HD2) http://www.mymits.net/zboard/zboard....page=2&no=5757
Thanks to James Kim, it work fine as far as texting and e-mailing in Korean. (I've installed it last night and so far so good)
It comes with "Moa keys" and I was able to get some info from youtube. (I'm learning)
I've got T-Mobile and it's working fine, but when I try to send to my friend with AT&T, it gives me message and tells me try to send it without the symbols.
I guess it doesn't work if you have AT&T.
with some googling, i was able to read korean throughout the os.
heck, i was even able to change htc sense language into korean.
however, i can't seem to find a way to type korean.
With all the winmo phones out there, it's hard to believe that there's no easy solution.
Please let us know if you find a good input method for korean.

[Q] Thai Font HTC Decsire

Hi guys,
I have recently purchased a HTC Desire. To my surprise it does not support Thai font. I frequently receive SMS messages in Thai, and all I receive using this phone is SMS messages filled with squares. My question is: Is there a thai font/language pack?. I have tried Anysoft keyboard and the thai language pack, however that did not enable my phone to read thai, rather it just installed the ability to type it.
Also I would prefer to have this ability without rooting my phone, as I am inexperienced, and if you will, almost completely technology illiterate.
If rooting is the ONLY way, I need a guide, but I have seen so many guides on how to root, and I still do not understand (think of me as your computer illiterate mother.... I just don't understand no matter how many times you tell me). zif rooting is the only way, can someone explain it in slightly more english.
Please help with this issue,
Cheers
I am also interested in this topic. Anyone knows if there's a way to make Desire support Thai fonts?
I would like to know this to.
You guys are looking for an app in the market place called: star tranlate
It translates sms and all sorts - also Thai language is supported.
Froyo supports Thai fonts. Couldn't be ass to wait for OTA update from Orange so I rooted my Orange branded Desire and installed LeeDroid ROM yesterday.
Only problem is, it doesn't have Thai keyboard (well, it has but it doesn't have Thai characters on it) but you can download C&N Thai keyboard from the market.
I solved this by installing AnySoftKeyboard available at Android Market. After this I installed the AnySoft Thai Language Pack. First I didn't realize that the installation worked, but after figuring out how to configure the input method and switch between English and Thai keyboard (you simply swipe sideways) it works like an absolute charm.
No rooting required, installation done in less than 10mins.
Recommended. Let me know if you need help configuring the input method, krub.
EDIT: I should add that all existing functions in the Phone where Thai fonts are being used are now displaying Thai. For instance, all information in the contacts and old text messages from my previous phone.
gud job keep it up!!!

[Q] WildFire S ::: Arabic Keyboard

Hi All,
I've got a brand new hTC WildFire S, I'm feeling like I moved from a country to a country, I'd a Tytn II first ages ago (WM) then a blackberry and along with now, I'm having this WildFone , the fone is nice, battery is ok, moving apps to sd improves the memory situation...
I just don't want to take risks, does anybody have an idea about how to make the Arabic Keyboard visible like the English one (like the IPad or something, there is a button like "Earth Planet" beside the Space Buttong ?
Especially, I bought it from Egypt and it's Arabic Enabled...
Simply you can long press the text field on phone ans select INPUT METHOD and then selected desired keyboard.
That was very useful...I've been trying for 3 days to work it out
Same issue, didn't work
Hi, I've just got a brand new wildfire S as well, but from the UK. It has 2.3.3 installed. I've searched the settings for international keyboards and arabic is not there, and when I tried the solution above (long press the text field) it didnt work.
Is it because my phone is not arabic enabled? When I receive text from family the arabic is shown as separated letters (arabic letters are supposed to join always). Are Egypt phones different from UK phones? How is your phone "arabic enabled" and is mine arabic enabled too?
Thanks in advance.
actually as your phone is from UK you will not be able to get the Arabic ROM for it which will make the Arabic letters connect any how if you can S-Off it you will be able to put an Arabic ROM on it otherwise no solution for this.

Please help me get the Japanese Keyboard

I tried this on the non-VZ forum before I found this one and no one was able to help. On my VZ HTC One, in Settings > Language & keybaord > HTC Sense Input > Keyboard selection, there are TONS of languages, even like 5 different Chinese ones but no Japanese If I go into Language & keyboard > Language, I have Japanese there (written as 日本語). So, I can change the system language but for some reason cannot type in it?
I *could* install the Google IME which is what I've been using until I got my One but that is not a solution it's just a workaround. The current keyboard does not allow me to switch IME unless the language is selected in the list within the Sense Input options. So that makes it very cumbersome to switch back and forth. HTC support is no use, they tell me if it's not there then I just can't use it. However I've asked two friends who also speak Japanese and they do have it (one has the JP variant, one does not). I have tried 3 different ROMs so far and have not found it.
So - does anyone know how I can get it? If not, does anyone know how I could possibly extract it from a HTC One J ROM or have a friend package it for me to install?
I'd really appreciate it, this phone is dope and I really don't want to have to give it up nor the Sense keyboard (call me crazy but I absolutely love it).

Same problem in snote. When you try to convert handwriting to text the app just closes. Math formula function is working though.
No solution but not an issue for me as I never used the function in the past 9 months
Only in Dutch?
I am a very happy user of the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition and yesterday l finally upgraded my device to Android Kitkat 4.4.2. l live in Belgium (Dutch region) and since the upgrade for The Netherlands is still not available I downloaded the firmware for France on the website of SamMobile, using Odin 3.09 to flash the system as described.
All went well during the upgrade and after only a few minutes l could enjoy all features of kitkat on my tablet. The device seems to work very smoothly and fast, there are no hickups or whatsoever.
There's only one issue, and for me that's a major one: the s-pen! It seems to be impossible to use handwriting for text input when in Dutch. When using French or English there's no problem at all, handwriting works just fine and even faster and more accurate than before, but as soon as I switch languages to Dutch it all goes wrong. It seems to me that the handwriting function for Dutch is simply not supported since I cannot find the icon for stylus input when in Dutch too. I do find icons for voice-input (the microphone), smilys, splitted keyboard and settings, but no handwriting icon. As soon as I change language on the keyboard to English or French, the handwriting option appears alongside the others. So my guess is this issue is not related to the Kitkat-upgrade itself but to the fact this upgrade is not foreseen to be used in a Dutch region. I don't know if there's a solution, besides waiting for the official firmware upgrade for an region (Belgium, which is mostly included in the Luxemburg-version and the Netherlands). l hope there will be an upgrade for these regions very soon, l use the handwriting function a lot and if it would take too long I will be forced to downgrade my device to the previous version again., which would be a bummer.
For the other people who started this thread: what version did you guys install, where did it come from, for which region is it meant and what languages are you using when encountering those s-pen issues? Is the problem similar to mine or do you also have problems using the s-pen when in English or French? Just to find out what could be the cause of all pain...
Please, when leaving feedback add this info to your message: region of the upgrade and language(s) you're using when encountering the s-pen issues.
Thanks in advance & regards,
Rudy (Belgium)
Jep, language is the problem. When I try to set a language for handwriting in input settings, settings crash and I'm back on the home screen.
[E] problem solved: you need to update your language packs. Go to settings/language&input and then enter the Samsung keyboard settings there press "+ select input language" and then you should see a little "update" button next to your downloaded languages. Hit those buttons for the languages you use and after the update handwriting recognition should be fine again. Hope that wasn't too complicated
