[Q] How to find my nv_data files? [SOLVED] - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

I'm sorry about this new thread, but I couldn't manage to find the right answer for me.
I flashed to JPC and my product code has changed. I don't have any problems with network/sim lock, but I wonder If I can revert to my original product code.
My SGS is rooted and I have this program Root Explorer, but when I get into the EFS folder there is nothing, no files at all. Can somedoby please tell me where's the problem? By the way this code *#272..... doesn't work also

How can i see changed product code?,i am using JPC too.

posted about this this morning!
Don't know if this will help you... but I posted this this morning on another thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7997364#post7997364

Thanks, but my EFS folder is empty
This is not a problem as long as I can install another new firmware without any problems. And I think that Samsung MUST create an option to select your region and this fix your product code. And I'm sure that they already know about their fault with this stupid KOR :|

If root explorer isnt working for you, try EStrongs File Explorer (enable Root option in settings), its free so no need to buy anything. I dont have root explorer so cant help you with that.

Thanks, this Estrongs Explorer works. I have managed to find my .nv_data.bak files and they are dated 07/02/10
The question now is how can I fix my product code without reflashing my firmware to another version. This JPC is good for me at this point

[Q] Update from JPC?

root it, install root explorer and browse to /efs. Look to see if you have .nv_data.bak and .nv_data.bak.md5 dated from before the JPC install. If so you can delete the nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5 so the originals can get recreated on next reboot.
Also, edit the /efs/imei/mps_code.dat file inside root explorer to change KOR to whatever you need for your region (XEU for me).
Then you should be fine to upgrade when the official Froyo comes out.
I'm sure this is impossible, you can't update to a non-final release without putting your phone into test mode. Otherwise there would end up being thousands of people with beta firmware who haven't a clue what they are doing.
Anyway, you can put your phone into test mode and change 2 registry keys to upgrade in future. Use search and look for kies hack
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Now this is odd!
I had my product code change to the KOR one when i upgraded to JPC which I fixed by deleting the nv backup files. Now when i connect the phone to Kies and check the registry my code is back to what is was previously (GT-I9000HKDCPW).
However, in the mps_code.dat file I still see KOR....is this normal?

[Q] [HELP], Dead phone now, Downgrade from 2.2 JPK to JM8

Hello, I got 004999010 ******* this IMEI
Is it the correct IMEI?
I am living in Norway, it is a Tele2 phone, unlocked.
Please, someone give me some suggestion.
Nope, that's a fake IMEI number. I hope you've got a good backup of nv_data.bin, or you're buggered.
What, OMG, where can I get the correct IMEI number? Is there any chance to make it work? Please...
Help, Somebody, Please, Please, do I have any chance to goback?
Have you installed JPC previously?

I Installed Froyo 2.2 JPK, before this, I used the stock version.
If you would have read the instructions before start deleting stuff, your phone would be working.
The instructions specifically says NOT to delete the .bak files.
If you deleted them you´re in trouble deep.
Samsung probably wants to sell you a new phone, as they usually do not restore the certificates (for security reasons).
have you delete the files which is in folder /efs

How to fix 3G/2g after debrandig/flashing

(NOTE: You need to backup the files before you install a diferent rom)
This will help you keep the 2G/3G settings (WCDMA) for you country after debranding or flashing another ROM.
Im from Portugal and I bought an orange UK flipout from ebay. Once I got it the first thing I did was debrand it and installed the non-motoblur version found in the debranding guide. I noticed that I did not have 2G network, since when I changed it to 2G I would loose all network.
After reasearching in a lot of forums I found a solution:
- Before changing the original rom (if you live in the country where you bought the phone) backup these files from /etc/motorola/bp_nvm_default:
File_Audio
File_Audio2
File_GSM
File_Seem_Flex_Tables
generic_pds_init
- After you install a new rom (if you notice that your network is working wierd) just replace the files in the new rom for the ones you backed up previously (Dont forget to check the files permissions after) and reboot.
In case you get stuck in a boot loop you might have forgot to copy one of the files or forgot to change the files permissions. Solution is to flash again (for me at least, maybe you can change it using adb);
[What I did was:
- I installed the rom with the frequencies I wished;
- backed up the files above;
- Installed the non-motoblur rom;
- Replaced the files with the back up ;
- Checked the files permission;
- Reboot.
Voila, I have 2G and 3G working perfectly]
(You have to have ROOT and I used root explorer)
This will allow everyone to install the non-motoblur version in their phones withought loosing their coutrys network frequecies.
Since the new update from motorola aparently corrects reception, maybe someone can share these files after they aplyed the update? In case you do, please specify where your from and if you know the frequencies your countries network works on, e.g. Portugal, 850, 900, 2100.
Sharing the original ones might help someone too, so please go ahead. I'll share the ones from the Italian rom (according to the debrand guide have the most frequencie support, once I get home)
Hope this helps !
(NOTE: You need to backup the files before you install a diferent rom)
[Just in case your wondering, I got this from this guide:
http://www.simply-android.com/discu...-3g-after-flashing-the-wrong-firmware/#Item_5 ]
Hmm.. Interesting.
But I was wondering..
/etc seems to be a symlink to /system/etc , wouldn't it be better to edit the files in /system/etc to make it more clear? (the results are pretty much the same, though)
You probably right but I dont have that kind of knowledge...
If you think its better I can change the location in the post?

Nah.. It seems to me that /etc is just a symbolic link to /system/etc
while the rootfs (/) is just a ram image.
Editing whatever from /etc is just the same as editing stuff from /system/etc
i have problem with rom for italy and uk with motoblur. when i installed is i dont have range 2G, only on deblur rom it work properly. do that method works with my situation? on chinese rom i dont have this problem
Yes, that was my issue too
ATT files
can someone please post these files for the att flipout, my phone is stuck in a boot loop and I fear the only way to fix it would be to flash one of the roms, in which case I would really like to have 2g
How you check "file permissions"?
I'm using this on Linda File Manager.
UPDATE: Thanks anyways ROOT EXPLORER Solved the permission stuff.
I'm trying this on a Telus Charm that was flashed with a T-Mobile ROM. Everything works OK apart from the phone (calling) functions.
I do have another Telus Charm working properly to get the files.
But every time I put the file on the folder the phone restarts and I have to do a factory reset; I modified permissions so the look just as the phnes in the original folder (on my Charm rw-r--r--) but still my phone still don't get signal. The only file I can't find on my working Telus Charm is generic_pds_init so I can't replace it on the other phone.
Best Regards.

When I first tryed this I thought that some files were not needed so i would get stuck in a bootloop. If that file does not exist try to find one that might be the same (similar name?) That file must be important and related to the others. Worst case scenario maybe try copying the entyre folder?
A quick warning - using Motorola Charm (not flipout) it seems that once you flash the T-Mobile ROM no other ROM will work (it updates the bootloader with a locked one). So avoid T-Mobile unless you it's you only solution.
It might be the same point-of-no-return issue on Flipout.

This Telus Charm was semi bricked because I flashed the "de blured" SBF and I could only get to bootloader.
After I flashed T-Mobile SBF I've a semi working phone, as everything works apart from the phone functions.
This is only for 3G? I'm not getting neither 2G nor 3G.
Am I missing any file/folder?
Best Regards.
Hi Guys!
Sadly I saw this post too late.
I flashed my wifes Flipout with the deblurred ROM from the Orange debranding guide.
Now we also have got the missing 2G problem.
I´d really appreciate it if is were somebody out there who could upload the correct baseband files for Germany.
Thanks in advance,
Moe

Hi, I'm from Germany and can confirm that these files not working for german Motorola Flipout devices on O2 network with deblured US version. Use the uk files mentioned in ITA/FR/etc. Thread instead!
I have the same problem. I have a samsung gt 5830i phone. Where do I download the file? So I can have a 2g signal.

[Q&A] [EFS] LG G3 EFS Backup and Restore

Q&A for [EFS] LG G3 EFS Backup and Restore

Anyone verify if that LG IMEI backup app worked the same way? I flashed the zip with flashify and it worked fine.
I made a restore before flashig a rom, then I found out that my IMEI numbers where 0 and no signal. Now im trying to restore but after restore it just boots up in TWRP again. I flashed the zip file and restored again... did not help. Am I doing it wrong?
Backup Verification?
Is this all you need for EFS restore on the G3? I used the manual method through cmd terminal/adb on my pc and successfully created the two files. Can someone explain to a noob how I can verify that it was successful, i.e. a way to check the two .img files that were generated? Thanks in advance.

How to check if EFS is still on my device?
Hi guys, I'm an owner of a new LG G3.
Now I have a problem. I went to TWRP, deleted EVERYTHING in the wipe menu, without backing up EFS. Then I installed ChupaChups 2. with the ChupaChups skin and SuperSU 2.37. Now I don't know if I lost EFS or how to check if it's still on the device. Because in the settingsmenu "about phone" I can still see my IMEI and data seems to work fine, at least on 2/3g. Can somebody tell me how to check on this?
Someting odd at last, I experience Bluetooth-hickups with the rom, anybody can confirm this?
Thank you so much for your help, I'm a bit desperate here because I don't know if I really just destroyed my phone and I am hoping I'm able to restore to stock.

Hello,
It depends what you have in mind when you say "my info". If it is precious personal data, and you don't have a copy on another media, this is not too good. :-/ . If it is about the operating system and it's features, I have read that flashing back to stock rom is possible, as LG provides them in their Open Source section.
/Edit: ddaypunk06 I can't answer to the new content of your post. Someone else will.
I am interested in making a back up of my EFS folder, but I'm not rooted. I read here :http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/efs-lg-g3-efs-backup-restore-t2907329 that it can also be done using 4 ADB commands. Is it still necessary to be rooted to use the ADB commands ? by the way I'm on V20f.

Hi,
As I understand things, the 4 ADB commands mentioned are meant to root the phone. From this part of this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/development/root-root-lg-g3-easily-purpledrake-lite-t2821000
But, what if I don't want to run your script to root?
Well then, I'd be a little hurt, but you can still do everything the script does manually.
Download the package, and extract it. Open a terminal in the main folder of the archive and run these commands:
Code:
adb reboot --bnr_recovery
adb push ./assets/start_restore /temp/start_restore
adb push ./assets/permaroot.bin /temp/start_restore
adb reboot
That will perma-root you, however there's no protection from doing something stupid or the phone being incompatible. Please be careful!

So be it with 4 ADB commands or with the help of the DrakePurple-Lite script, you need to be root in the filesystem of your phone, if you want to be able to perform administration tasks.
So how I understand things, you can't access to the said files: the 2 parts of the bootloader, if you are not root in the Android operating system. Please see here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=54254062&postcount=2
EFS Backup:
Backup EFS after jailbreaking your G3. EFS is split into 2 partitions modemst1 and modemst2.
img files will be on root of internal sdcard. Save the .img files somewhere else besides the sdcard... email, cloud, etc..
I have made a new thread on EFS backup and restore which can be found HERE.

Hi there.
Go to Settings>about phone>Status.
You should see your IMEI, MAC Address and operator connection.
Also go to Phone and dial *#06# and you should again see your IMEI.
Make sure that it is not all 000000000s.
Edit: If you play with flashing roms backup your EFS folder!

I only have a 4.4.2, LG G3 S stock, untouched, not updated. I am waiting for a missing clue to root it using DrakePurple-Lite in my Linux distribution. Which codename does that one have? With all the new words I am learning these days, I start getting into confusion, and "KitKat" and "Lollipop" looks to me like lots of sugar. I'll try to keep my phone on a low diet. lol

Can't find EFS folder
Hi!
Today I flashed EFS Backup but I can't see in windows or in the phone with root explorer..etc. But I see in the Recovery..So i can't copy to my computer or anywhere else..
Can You help me?
Thanks
I'm sorry for pulling the noob card. I have managed to backup my EFS using TWRP. I would like a second type of backup to be sure before I move any further. I've been down the lost IMEI on my Note 2. So my new G3 is a VS985 and this method does not seem to work? It goes through all of the steps, but when I look for the created folder there is nothing. Even the folder does not exist. One thing I have noticed is that when I try to create a backup from TWRP to the internal storage the same behavior occurs. Something is written and even TWRP can find it. Although when I am looking around for the created folder... I find nothing. Although when I write a backup to the SDcard it can be found. So if someone could help me with this it would be great. Thank you all for your time.
I think this is the same issue as the poster above me.

Galaxy S20 ultra G988B/DS SIM Network Not available (status ng) after flashing stock ROM

Hi Guys !
Greetings to y'all!!!
I'm honored to be a part of this prestigious community at last and looking forward to give back, someday soon. My huge respect for all the contributing members, I have been using this forum to get help since 2016 and without even posting anything I've always managed to get helpful information to resolve every problem encountered till now ((rooting & flashing)).
:'D
So here goes my first thread:
A friend of mine recently tried flashing stock ROM on his SM-G988B/DS since his update firmware option wasn't working for some reason. Even though it was a success, in doing so he flashed wrong version of firmware and caused network failure, flight mode if tapped got stuck (greyed) (wrong modem was flashed). There was no backup and original firmware number wasn't mentioned so I tried flashing different versions of firmware (U1,U2,U3,U4 & U5) and finally got it working on flashing CP(modem file) of G988BXXU5BTJ3.
However, for some reason I still was unable to make a call, so I searched for it and found out that by dialing *#0011# my IMEI status is NG which is bad , even though my IMEI number is still intact as found on the back of the phone. I researched a bit further and found out that this has something to do with the EFS file and whilst going through comments in another forum I found someone else had the same issue and got resolved by deleting nv_data.bin file and its backup and IMEI folder in EFS file after rooting and reflashing stock ROM. I tried the same but found that nv_data.bin was missing in EFS folder, so I backed up EFS file and deleted just the IMEI folder in it and reflashed stock ROM, have tried flashing different CP versions aswell still no success .
I've seen some videos of Chimera IMEI rewriting and certificate patching and Z3X tool on youtube but in their case IMEI is missing and I don't want to go for those solutions for the instance. I'm wanting to learn from all this exercise and want to know whether what is what and how to resolve this manually (maybe by writing some hex code or script etc) if possible.
Summarized:
Phone: SM-G988B/DS
ROM: Stock (G988BXXU5BTJ3) (rooted)
Status: SIM Card Registration failure ( IMEI status NG)
IMEI : Intact (As on the back of the phone)
EFS file ( nv_data.bin and .bak missing)
Previous Status: SIM Card was working fine before flashing ROM
Your valuable suggestions in this regard shall be highly appreciated.

First, do a TWRP backup, all partitions including efs & modem.
Open the root explorer app, open the efs folder, delete the files named nv_data.bin
, nv_data.bin.md5 & the folder called imei. Then open twrp, wipe all partitions. Flash the latest firmware with Odin.
