[Working] PSFreedom for Raph/Diamond - Touch Pro, Fuze Android Development

http://wiki.psfreedom.com/wiki/HTC_Raphael
Thanks to everyone who made it possible!
Cheers

I'm not sure our devices can act in the 'slave' mode that he speaks of... but that would be interesting - and I'm not nearly proficient enough to understand a lot of the things he is talking about.
But, there are several devs who probably do and I'm sure if it's possible they will do it!

Isn't Headsetmode Slavemode,too!?

Update: There will be a Support for MSM72K Android Devices So Let's see if it will work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772795&page=31

Guys from Desire forum have got it working.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8025114&postcount=452
Is there any chance of getting this working in Haret system? USB controller should be the same in Diamond/Fuze.

It should work on raphael.. //psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?title=Device_compatibility_list (place http: for the link cant post full links)
Although it seems that it needs to be compiled for it first and maybe its a matter of time till somebody does it. Dont know how to compile so have to wait

Can't we just include the files of the G1 Package in the ext2 and then it should work?
http://psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?title=G1&oldid=140

Change the title of the thread for something more... interesting.
"[DEV PETITION] PSFreedom for Raph/Diamond (it's working on G1)"
Or something like that...

well a HD2 Version is out i will try to modify it to get it working with our devices ...
http://gamesquare.co.uk/PSFreedom_HD2.zip

There's nothing in that link.
Edit: oops. Link works. Just paste the url in the browser.

Tried to simply exchange rootfs intrid and kernel and edit the startup but a pitty wont work so simple

It seems doesn´t work in HD2 too...

New build for HD2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=777120

Tried it too... It doesn't work.

Been trying to get something to work on my Diamond 500. I can get the haret to run, but errors out saying invalid execution or something... Then reboots...

Anyone try messing around with the files anymore? Maybe we can try to tackle what may be working in the HD2, that has it working on their phones.

It´s Done

Working Android on BA! (tested myself)

Hi, yesterday i was trying to launch android on my BA and i DID IT!
It works like ****:
Touchscreen doesn't work (you can activate list scrolling by pushing it on the side)
Some buttons don't work
No sound
Navigation:
D-pad (left, right, up, down)
Enter (on the keyboard, since D-Pad center doesn't work)
!WARNING! there is no end call and back buttons, you can't exit applications
How to? Here is the tutorial:
Create a folder on your memory card
Get the latest HaRET from here http://handhelds.org/~koconnor/haret/
Get the latest zImage from here http://www.angstrom-distribution.org/unstable/autobuild/htcblueangel/
(i use zImage-2.6.21-hh20-r16-htcblueangel.bin)
Rename it to zImage
Put that default.txt
Code:
set kernel zImage
set initrd "initrd-android.gz"
set CMDLINE "rootdelay=3 root=/dev/ram0 ramdisk_size=23504 init=/linuxrc"
boot
Now you need the system - Android
Get that: http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/initrd-android
Don't forget to rename it to initrd-android.gz
I've got it from here http://it029000.massey.ac.nz/vogue/
it stays in jumping to kernel... i followd the steps above, did you copy pasted the command correctly??

Just launch Haret.exe
Speed... hm... Almost like WM6
a lot slower than wm6 the android image should be tweaked in order to have proper drivers for touchscreen keys and sound
wow...very cool, I'll be looking for updates (if there are any)
hi friends,
i tested android and seems a good toy
i did make a rar with all files needed, you need only to extract to SD and run haret
Code:
http://rapidshare.com/files/147524450/android.rar.html
i'm really interested to go further on android.
about my tests, i can conclude two things:
- D-pad works, but not very well
- Touch screen is not working, but i know it detect moves on it
(try to dpad a icon, then touch the touch-screen, you ll see)
I'm not a expert on pocket pc, but i have my skills.
I found an other thing, hardware specification.
Code:
http://www.handhelds.org/moin/moin.cgi/BlueAngelHardware
if the information is right, the touchscreen is from the same family that the vogue one.
To continue this adventure, i need some lights. I know we have a developer from the kernel/Opie/GPE in this forum. If you are him, i need some lights about your work.
The other thing, i'll try to do is asking help to vogue/kaiser android project, to give me some lights how they touchscreen work.
The last thing. All the help is appreciated, everybody is invited in this project and all the help is welcome. And i really need it lol
udapte (23/9/2008)
Well i talk do vogue android project man, and the answer from him is simple. His work was only to port kernel to vogue platform. I will have to find who made the one we are using.
The touchscreen is detected, but somehow it doesn't work.
i have failed .
my BA get a FlashDIsk and ramdisk in WM6 enrironment..
when i run haret ....
after jumping to kernal
an error occur
can't mount SDcard .it's halt..
why...
How about your work? I'm working on this task also. Need more information to make it working. Could you give me some patches for BA's kernel.
Also the SC Card Message, any adivice o workaround?
w0w...
it runs on my BA. Great!
However I cant do anything inside. But thanks to all of you that make this possible.
I'm waiting for the next release, hope it will run faster, and all get better.
Thanks.
Is anything happening with this?
Any news?
Is vogue version working? I have try to build a kernel for BA but false to boot
Will try and report later....
kernel
I have A LOT of, like everything I could find, files to load linux on the Blue Angel. Angstrom, Familiar, QT...somethingsomething... Anyway, it works well except the wireless which I think should work until the thing goes into standby. Would the zImage/initrid files or any of the others help? I'd like to help ya get this working, I think most of the works been done. I must say, however, I am just learning about how this stuff works. I can't code, but I have a BA, lots of experience repairing hardware like ppcs and I really would love the chance to finally give back to this wonderful community after they've given me so much.
It would be great to get this working. It would give my pda2k a whole new lease on life.
any updates on this?
Thanks
so, any news? android would be quite nice.
i concur. i'd liketo see a android on the blueangel, why isnt there one? linux runs fine on it, theres an older android that supposidly boots on it.
cmon somebody make the damn thing work.

**Android On The Dash** Is Partly Working, But We Still Need Drivers

Okay so me and a few helpful people from the #htc-linux and #linwizard channels on freenode have built a version of linwizards kernel for the wizard to run on the excalibur! At first we had no framebuffer so no screen at all but thanks to tmzt, the framebuffer is fixed. Also myself, tmzt, and ali1234 made a (semi) working keymap. All the buttons work just a few tweaks need to be made.
**UPDATE**Thanks to some brilliant work by starwarrior we now can load android and play with it, the phone functions do not currently work, more details on post 76. Have fun.
I have included all you need to run the linwizard kernel on your excalibur. It is as safe as a soft reset; nothing permanant is done to your phone. You will have to remove the battery to reboot and get back to your normal windows enviroment.
Currently there is no support for the following and are a work in progress:
X
Sd card access
GSM usage (calls, sms, gprs)
Anyone with this type of experience or anyone who wants to help at all please email me at gentoon at gmail dot com.
Thanks to everyone working on the linwizard project and everyone who has helped do far.
http://www.sendspace.com/file/gfme0e
To run all you have to do is extract run the haret executible and click run. You will see some text letting yo know its loading the kernel, then some garbae as the framebuffer adjusts... then a login screen just enter root and nothing for the password field. Then there you go a working linux enviroment!
I know little to nothing about Linux but I am always up for something new. I have a "spare" Excalibur- and in another week I will have 2 spares so if you need anything specific tested let me know
Ummm so do you have the program available or no...

sorry about that forgot how long uploading over a gprs can take, im visiting family and have no pc, so i have been doing everything over my dash. I added a link to the first post.
Okay operamini doesnt want to let me edit my post so sorry about the double post, here is the link:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/gfme0e
also you wil probably have to do a soft reset right before you run haret to avoid it freezing. Have fun.
Is it possible to see a screenshot of what it looks like on the excalibur.
Thanks
IDK for some reason I am hesitant to try this...
The main project is located at http://linwizard.sourceforge.net you can see some screenshots there of it working on the wizard. Of course our port doesnt support everything they have working on the wizard yet, but with some moe help we could.

Well do you know anything about linux? I can get the kernel source uploaded. We need a better keymap first of all( we need \ mapped, also control and esc are mapped but dont seem to be working), then someone who knows something about X, it would be nice to have a GUI. Right now I would just like some people to test it on their excaliburs. Also all of the credit for the original kernel goes to the linwizard project. So thanks guys.
Hi,
Here are the patched files for Excalibur. Remove the .txt extension and copy them over the corresponding files in linwizard kernel tree.
Im going to be adding a detailed to do list on the main page. Once i get some real developers rounded up we are going to make this an official project on sf.
hey..i have seen this day in my dreams..lol
anyways i have ubuntu on of my pc's and love it...so i don't know too much about linux but i would definitely be willing to help!

[W O R K I N G] Kaiser-Buntu - Ubuntu on the HTC Kaiser (!UPDATED w/DL-links!)

Hello everyone,
I am happy to inform all those folks who waited for a full Linux operating system on the HTC Kaiser PDA that today a little bit modified version of Zubuntu finally booted successfully on my HTC Kaiser.
It is a really in the alpha-state but it works, let's see what do we have:
TouchScreen: works perfectly with calibration
Screen: looks good. but programs doesn't support Kaiser's small resolution. You can fix this by using INTERPOLATION, but this makes picture quality a lot worse. To try it out edit the default.txt, find the mddi.height and mddi.weight values and change to for example 480 and 360.
Keyboard: works exactly as expected, some fine tuning with the keyboard map will be done
ScreenRotating
Not tested/not working:
WiFi (MY #1 ISSUE, TRYING TO FIX): I extracted the wifi section from an Android rootfs, successfully modprobed wlan.ko, dmesg shows that the driver is loaded OK, but:
Code:
iwconfig
tiwlan0: no wireless extensions
ifconfig tiwlan0 up
ifconfig: ioctl (SIOCDIFADDR): Can't assign requested address
TI's WLAN_LOADER program didn't work either, so now I am moving to the other driver (wl12xx)
Bluetooth (Driver is there, no BT programs installed, couldn't test it)
3G
Cameras
Phone (NO dialer, nothing, however perhaps gsm-libs can help us firing it up)
Many many thanks goes for all these people form the #htc-linux IRC channel: randomblame, Markinus, ali1234, Ondalf and bombenbach for their outstanding support and help!
I would like to say thank you especially to phh for his awesome help and patience with me!
Click on the image for more pictures!
Stay tuned for: hopefully working WiFi, screnshots, YouTube-demonstration.
If you are interested, want to say thank you, want to help, or have an idea how to fix some things please write into this topic.
Also if you like my work, please consider a little a donation for me
After all, I am pretty sure now you want to try this on your own too, so here is the link for the Google-Code website. Download all the files and read the Wiki to know what to do.

Would it be destructive to flash it to nand at this point in the project?
I wouldn't count on it even remotely fitting on the NAND. Besides, you'll probably have to have half the apps on an SD card anyway...
how about a build that will work with the new nomorootfs installers so hose of us like me can try it without going back to winmo, Would like to install to ext2.img files or sdcard partitions.
And is this remotely close to the MER Linux build that progress seems to be halted on I was able to get it to work
working XWindow?
I wouldn't recommend installing it to NAND (it doesn't work so good, for example I didn't have time to test power/suspend).
Xwindows works perfectly (except the resolution issue).

resolution issue. can you please explain that? (whats wrong in resolution) before i flash back to ,WM and try it

The problem is that the rootfs is not for the Kaiser and the Xserver uses some hardcoded resolution (that means there is no config file for it) so circa half of the windows are too big for the screen. It is not a big problem because you can move them around so it is easy to get to one of the corners and resize them so you can see the whole thing at once.
Fixing this is on my To-Do list
sorry for the dumb question but...

mod: I found this: http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy/comm/gsm-utils and this http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/gutsy/man8/gsmctl.8.html perhaps I will try it later (or someone can try it and report)
This intrigues me muchly, but why ubuntu/debian based?
There are other, (and imho simpler), bases to build on, slackware springs to mind, and there are some tiny distros out there, which may also be worth looking at, to say nothing of the likes of Familiar, an interesting candidate for a non-android htc-linux.

Working Android 2.1!

Hello everybody,
I would like to share with you this working/booting version of android. Because I read many people have trouble, getting the phone work, or problems with looping boot. I putted this together, with the right zimages and rootfs and an working startup.txt. everything is pulled together from this site so the credit goes to the other ones. But I think it is nice to have an zipped build of android 2.1 ready to go for Topaz!
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=NRXPN3FV
The version is without sense.
Extract the rar to an empty sd card and run haret!
Have Fun!
How is this different from any of the other builds on this site?!?
To the untrained eye it would appear that the ones that are located in the (obviously) main thread are somehow broken or not working... People have issues, we do our best to help them hash it out. Threads like this are just going to create more confusion.
because it's copy and play, usefull for members who don't understand how to compile everything together, this is an good build, even usb works!

A) What are you talking about USB works?!? Are you saying that YOUR build has things that work in it that other builds do not?
B) The others are "copy and play" as well... I haven't compiled a kernel in months, but I still get updated packages. Just copy them to the SD... how is yours easier again?
that was what i was saying indeed, things work what on other builds does not, but enough i understand you don't want it

How are you having USB working? afaik the system is read only. And you can't mount USB as Android is being run on it.
Be abit more specifigc about which USB functionality you are referring to

PSFreedom Android via Diamond?

Just wondering if anyone was working on getting this ported to our phones? Works on the Desire and few others via this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=772795
They also have our phone on the wiki as showing in progress.
http://psfreedom.com/wiki/index.php?title=Device_compatibility_list
It's listed even two times! They have to make up their minds about the used usb controller though *fg*.
I wonder who is actually working on it? I have watched the thread all day.. I see its listed, but no proof of anyone actually working on it. I guess it just listed because of the usb controller it uses is compatible..
Anyone know what may be different between our diamonds and the HD2? They have it running on the HD2 now

Please someone, help us !

Trying now. If this works, I can finally return my TI 84 calc.
After following the guide and getting android installed i get the following error trying to insert the module "insmod: can't insert 'psfreedom.ko': invalid module format".
im using the newest xdandroid i could find here on a diamond100
actually dmesg returns "psfreedom: version magic '2.6.27.46-01162-g741ab49-dirty preempt mod_unload ARMv6 ' should be '2.6.27.46-01130-g0ac6681 preempt mod_unload ARMv6'"
nevermind... apparently i missed an important step
OK
I tested on my Diamond.
It's ok for me.
Now I'm tested the fixed version with backupmanager.
I'll update soon.
NB
The first boot is very slooooooow.
I have install and run Psfreedom on my old Diamond GSM.
I dont have PS3 right now.
But it looks like working cos.... when I type "insmod psfreedom.ko" and press enter I have next line "#" no any errors and messages.
And at that moment my PC recognize "Unknow USB device". So I think that something is emulating on my Diamond.
One more thing!
When I copy file "modules-2.6.27.46-01162-g741ab49-dirty.tar" to SD
I have renamed it to "modules-2.6.27.46-01162-g741ab49.tar" and replace existed old one.
I have XDAndroid 2.2 (rel 1.6) no any updates.
