Flight Profile and PIN Entry - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hallo Guys,
my Name is Veit and im from Germany, so please dont hang me up if my english is incorrect.
Ive bought a HTC Desire and i know an App called "Best Profiles" from my Nokia-Symbian-Phone and now i want to get something else on my Desire.
Best Profiles could switch my Nokia during the night into a "Offline-Profile" where Networking and WLAN is disabled so save Battery. In the morning it automatically switch back to a "Online-Profile" WITHOUT entry of the PIN.
I found some apps that could switch between several Profiles by time-schedule but always the PIN needs to be re-entered.
Is there a way to get it like on the Symbian-Phone ???
Will it be possible with a other App or with a Custom-ROM ?? My Desire is already rooted and my current ROM is the Offficial Untouched Froyo 2.2 from the Forums here !!
Hoping for future answers and a big THX for the guys who do the hard work here !!!

Have you looked at JuiceDefender on the market?
Can do all you want and more
It's free for controlling the mobile internet but you will need to buy UltimateJuice if you want to be able to control WiFi etc.

Hey, thats a good question. I didnt know that app before now.
So if i install / buy that app i should set the phone into Flight-Profile ( Disconnect from Network, shut down WiFi, shutdown Bluetooth ) and reverse all those settings after sleeping without retyping my PIN ???

Hello,
its me again. Ive tried 3 different Apps but everytime the same situation:
I have to re-enter my PIN after reconnect to the Network !!
Any suggestions ????

I don't think you will get an app to do exactly what you want.
When the desire is in flight mode it turns the radio off, turning the radio back on requires the pin entry.
Ultimate juice can turn off wifi, apn's etc, but would leave the radio on so it's not ideal for you.
Other than turning the pin prompt off, I can't see an easy solution for you.

S..t,
OK if its the only way i will switch off my PINcheck and will secure my Phone with the Unlock-Figure.
Maybe in the future some of the ROM-Kookers could switch of the PIN-Reentry procedure after switch off the Flight-profile.
Regards
Veit

Good idea! It might be worth asking for this feature in a specific rom thread so you can be sure the dev knows about it?

Disable the radio(phone) on a Qtec 2020

Hi all,
Is there a way to disable or remove the radio (phone) software. (not switching to flight-mode, or there must be a way to keep it in flight-mode, so i can switch it on/off with a password or something)
My goal is that the Qtec2020 doesn't have any phone capabilities. is there a way?
or
Is there a way to completly disable GPRS / Data??
thx in advance
why get a gsm pda then ?
to disable grps you can just remove all the settings for it
when i exit flight mode i have to type in my sim card pin code just like when i softreset my device guess that depend on the sim and network
here everybody have it to make it impossible to use if people steal it
ok why buy a gsm pda
well we at our company sell software, and the customer will rent the qtec 2020, we don't want our customers to use them as phones.
that's the only reason why i want to disable radio/phone..
we have more that 30 on stock and we don't want to buy new ones
hope that someone can help me.
btw.
hopefully a solution in which we are able to restore everything to it's state in which the phone can be used again. in case our application is going to use gprs/data
you could also put a prepaied sim card in it without any money on
of cause they would still be able to put in their own sim then
otherwise you need a program which keep all phone activity from happening this dont really sound like a program which are out there because of lack of demand maybe you could get somebody to make it
but the program would have to be put in the extented rom to be sure it would still be there if the user hardresets the device
and then you cant really stop a person who knows how to edit the extented rom from removing the program
that is unless you would be willing to open and remove the gsm part of the device
but removing the gprs settings would require the user to know how to set them up again and which settings to put there
and judging from how many people ask about such things here the normal user would not know how to do that
Delete all links to Cprog.exe (Phone Dialer)
then I believe there is a Reg Key that will remove
Turn ON-OFF Flight mode..
You will also need to unmap Green Phone Button.
That's all i can help you!
can't find a reg key
is there no such thing as a dummie radio-stack???
upgrading the PDA with a dummie radio-stack??, or leave the radio-stack out of the upgrade process?? (enough pda's without gsm phone  )
just thoughts!!
thx in advance

Well yes you could kill the radio stack by forcing error on upgrade I suppose.

The WiFi issue after Standby - Solved

Hi guys,
I saw a several post for the problem with the WiFi which dont want to connect after phone waked from standby
in my case - WM6.5 WWE Official Rom
how I solved this
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
string Value - "EnableAutoConnect" must be set to 1
this work for me.
At first when you powerd from StandBy you will see that the WiFi icon still missing, but when you open the browser or Im .. or whatever using internet
WiFI Start to connecting
Thats from me
I Hope that this will work and for you guys
Regards,
patzkata
Thanks! Hope this works.
Is there any way to have it connected w/out editting the reg? Also, what program is best for doing so?

I don't know
did you tried it already?
it seem that this is some king of bug in WM6.5, and after the phone sleep (stanby mode) after that the WiFi is ON, but it dont want to connect
so if you chance the registri like i said, you will have no problems any more
Regards,
patzkata
The Registry Settings dont exist on my device. im running 6.5.3
Trying this - hope it works.
On do this.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms]
string Value - "HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended" must be set to 1

that worked for me. Thanks
the EnableAutoConnect edit worked for me, but the HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended did not hold after a restart. It would be nice if i could get my wifi to stay on. Any ideas?
BTW I got an HTC Tilt 2 with original rom WM6.5 rom ver 1.59.502.3 WWE
LiquidXed what i use and has worked with no problems so far to Keep Wifi enabled and on always ( even through standby) is Wifinostandby
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=5353195
just install it and it will basically do what the Tweaks do (BBtweaks etc) but it does it auto on startup every time since the registry keys don't hold after restarts.

WIFI used to autmactically connect

On a previous build/ROM, my wifi would automatically connect when needed. So if I clicked update weather, it would turn on wifi and connect if I was at home.
Look at this image. Under wifi it shows "Connect to wifi network" It used to say "Automatically connect to wifi".
Now it doesn't automatically turn on when I click update weather, but if I turn it on, it never turns off. (It turns off when I put my machine in standby, but it comes back on when I turn my device back on) It used to stay turned off, but automatically turn on when needed. A VERY nice feature.
Anyone know how to 'hack' this feature back into existence?
ps. I'm running NRG ROM, build 23554
On the stock roms, yes , the wifi would stay off until needed and then turn on and automatically connect. But on the custom roms (not sure if all custom roms) its hacked to stay on all the time because alot of people like it that way. I'm pretty sure its just some registry values that you would need to change. I would suggest rooting around in your registry looking for your wifi settings, and then change stuff until you get it the way you want it, just make sure and write down what all you changed, and what the values were, in case you screw up your wifi and need to revert back to the way it originally was in order to connect. And remember that in order for registry changes to take effect, you have to do a soft reset
I, too, suspect it's just a reg settings, but I haven't come up with anything... WIFI on all the time is such a battery drain, I don't see why it would be popular to have this way...
anyway, if anyone knows how to change it back, it'd be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. I'll give it a try!
I had the exact same problem as described in the first post after I upgraded from a stock Manila 2.1 ROM to a stock Manila 2.5 ROM. This cab worked perfectly for me. I think it will be a real battery saver, not having the wi-fi needlessly reconnect every time I turn the screen on!

Network connection error

Hi guys,
I have a problem with my rooted HTC Desire Z.
I use it as a car phone and so I have tasker and secure settings enabled to turn on the phone when starting (powering) my car and go in to airplane mode when turning off the car.
So far so good.
But I discover a problem with my cell phone when turning my car on. So, the phone gets powered and tasker discovers it's been powered and turns off the airplane mode (with the help of secure settings). But unfortunately, often the phone doesn't find the network (I'm on O2 in Germany) and so I have to manually search for available networks and neet to manually connect. And also this doesn't always work.
I don't know whether the problem is known or unknown.
At first I thought it could have something to do with the unroot via HTCDev and so I unrootet it with the instructions in this board. So I have an totally unrooted phone with S-Off. The behavior is the same.
Ok, thought it could have something to do with the Custom ROM I am using. But all the ROM's show the same behavior. Sometimes it works to connect to network and sometims it doesn't.
Is there anybody who is discovering the same behaviour or is there anybody who is in the same configuration like me and it works perfectly?
Perhaps it has something to do with tasker and/or secure settings?
Perhaps it has something to do with my carrier?
Perhaps it has something to do with my anti virus software (Dr. Web)?
I'm right now using the ROM (SlimBean 6.2) with radio 12.62.60.27U_26.13.04.19_M
I appreciate any help.
Thanks.
I think I got the same problem, after I root my phone and installed Rom, I found that when I checked mobile data and it show up the tick as soon as possible as there no need to load... and I found that the logo (arrows pointing up and down ) doesn't show up ... is this the same problem as you have???

[Q] SM-P605 - Disabling phone

Hi all,
first of all I would like to say hallo to all members and thank everyone here for the continuous support provided, this site already helped me out a lot.
I've owned the SM-P605 for quite some time now, it's a really awesome tablet but one thing bugs me out completely ... I use a multi-sim and everytime I get a call on my normal phone I have a missed call on my tablet ...
I would really like to disable the phone function completely ... can anyone direct me to a mod or a rom, which lets me disable the phone function?
I know that for the N8000 there is a mod which let's you disable the phone ... but I've been searching for days now for the SM-P605 ...
Rooting, flashing, etc. is not a problem, done it a lot with various phones ...
I'm fine with anything, prefered would be either a mod or a ROM which has the stock Samsung interface and functions and the support to disable phone support.
I get over 50 calls a day so this is really annoying ... I'm really desperate ... and I really don't want to get another SIM for €30,- per month just to get rid of the phone function :/
Please help

Hi,
Why don't you just put your tablet in "Airplane Mode" when you don't use it ?

Hiya and thanks for the reply!
If it would be that easy...
I use the tablet in meetings, while on the phone and during appointments ... and I need internet connectivity for that...
So airplane mode is out of the picture sadly...

So...there is no problem at all..! you can easily put your tablet in airplane mode and then open the WiFi at no cost !
in that way you won't get those annoying calls plus you will be connected to the internet!

There is rarely a wifi I can connect to though, basically only at home (which is only about 5% of tablet use) ... means I need to use mobile data, which goes with enabling cellular network, which goes with receiving phone calls :/
Buuut I just found out about "Stocky Rom", seems like you can disable the phone with that one plus it has all stock rom features! Looks like exactly what I've been looking for ... I'll give it a shot (guess the dev was in the same situation I was lol)
If wished I can report if it worked ... I'm still open for other ideas though, in case the new rom won't do.
If anything fails I guess I could still open a hotspot on my phone, put the tablet in airplane mode, enable wifi and connect through my phone, that might even work x.X
Never checked if the hotspot still works while on a call, I'll have a look at that.
I wished there was just a switch in the stock ROM, German forums are full of people with the same problem ... the provider only says "sorry out of luck, purchase a second card with data plan only" (of course) and the other users either never found a solution or didn't post it.

Have you tried Blocking Mode ? I think it will work like a charm if you want to keep your 3g connection and just disable phone..!

That's actually worth a try ... but I always thought it "rejects" the incoming calls, meaning they won't get through on my phone either?
I'll give it a shot and report back.
