[Q]is it possible to use HTC Mail Widget on the launch pro +? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Flashed fresh 3.2.0.0 roms, sweet roms so far, except for one problem here. I didn't find HTC Mail Widget in the "Add to the home screen" menu. I was wondering if there were any way I can make that widget showing on the launch pro+? If so, how should I do it? really appreciate it.

HTC widgets can only be used with sense UI
Swyped on my EVO

Launcher pro does not work with sense widgets like the one you are trying.

Are you sure it is missing? I'm running Fresh 3.2 and the widget is there. I guess it is possible that something went wrong with the install but if that is the case try ref lashing.
If it still doesn't show, post again and I'll send the apk to you.

Hi,
I have a HTC Hero, and I whould like 5 desktops, not 7. Is there a tip ?
Thx.
Not got time to give a full answer, but it would help if we knew the position of your phone?
I.e. Are you rooted?
and if so what custom rom are you running?
Thanks
When you answer these someone else will be able to give you a full answer

Sorry
I have a rooted Modaco Custom Rom 3.1
Strange request! It does beg the question as to why you would want to "restrict" the number of screens as opposed to simply not using the if you don't want them?

Dave

It's simply a matter of speed ^^
I am interested in this too. I only ever use three screens. Any way to change number of screens? I am running rooted stock HTC Rom. 2.73.61.66

You need a custom launcher.apk I believe.
Don't know if anyone has created a 3/5 screen Rosie launcher, I guess because there are so many fullscreen widgets.

Yea, it's true there are a lot of full screen widgets... but to be honest, I don't use any widgets except for the htc settings widgets for wifi, bluetooth etc.

If your on a 2.1 rom you can always use espresso rosie that has 5 screens by default.
Default android has 3 so you can just turn sense off on your hero (or install a rom with it removed altogether to get just 3 screens

go away sense

i've seen videos on how to get rid of htc sense on this phone i really don't like sense is there any way to get rid of it on a uk version it seems as if all it has installed is normal htc sense and not home any fix?

well if you have seen many vidoes how to do it then wheres the problem ?
the problem is i follow what they do and it doesn't work i think the problem is that it doesn't actually have home installed on it i've looked thru all of the applications and its not there is there anyway to install it?
Why would you get a desire and NOT a nexus one if you don't like sense?
Find Launcher.apk, Launcher2.apk or one of the launcher replacements in the market (ahome, openhome, home++) and install them to replace the sense homescreen.

You could try installing Launcher2.apk from Nexus One. Some people report it working fine on their phones. It didn't work for me though. Maybe I had the wrong APK.

Complete Android noob here please explain
In overly simplified terms, Sense UI is HTC's home screen, where as Launcher2 is Google's home screen for N1.
All programs on Android come in APK files. That's like a CAB installer on WinMo.
So all you need to do is search Nexus One forum for Launcher2.apk, download it on your phone and install it. Then when you press home button, it will ask you which home to launch. Choose Android home (or something similar) instead of Sense UI, but DON'T make it default just yet as it might not work.
If it does, next time you can make it default an voila - you have yourself a "Nexus One".
Though Sense UI will still be running, so you don't really save any memory or anything.
I have posted in this forum how to turn of Sense on the Desire. Search 'How to turn of HTC Sense' or something.
Since in that clip there was ACTUALLY a Desire being used, it should work. From what I remember:
Go to settings, all programs, search HTC Sense, turn it off.

i've just downloaded launcher2.apk and now just to finish this phone call then i'm gonna test this out will report back. i feel like a crash test dummy lol
You could also try to install the Helixlauncher2 app from the Nexus One forum. It's a modified Nexus One launcher2 with a lot more features. I already made a thread in the Desire Themes and Apps forum since I'm curious whether it works flawlessly or not on the Desire. Maybe you can crash test that launcher too?
ok default launcher 2 doesn't work gonna try the other one mentioned now

you also loose all the nice widgets so i'm gonna stick with sense for the moment.

[Q] Weather/clock widget woes!!

Hi everyone!
I'm having a problem with all the DHD ports, I've tried as of late and really need my help before this phone gets thrown at the wall!
The weather/clock widget doesn't seem to stick to my home screen anymore!
Meaning: that every time I reboot my phone, I have to reinstall the damned thing!!
If anyone has a clue, please post below!
Thanks
Bump for the morning crew!
All DHD Ports? I am using the latest InsertCoin, and do not have the problem. Did not have this while on RCMixHD 3.0, too.

Thank you very much for answering.
Am also using the latest Insertcoin since yesterday and the same thing happens.
D2Ext or A2SD+? I do not have this promlem on A2SD+.
Also try taking of the battery for 10 secs and try after that.
Also can be a possible conflict with other widgets.

I'll try the battery idea but what other widgets could it be conflicting with?

Hmm, strange, other people said that after pulling the battery and re-booting they had missing the widget, so they had to add it again, but it was not gone after
Well, Custom widgets, like SIMI clock, desktop clock etc.

Any of those have animated weather like the stock HTC one or do I have to go with Beautiful Widgets?
Found this.
Still thinking about, why the default widget has the problem for you, but can't come to any solution.

p.s. Let me know if you find a solution please!
Well, I settled on Fancy Widget which seems to be working very well.
FOUND THE ANSWER!
Went into the clock app, cleared data and it's all working now!!
Haha, wanted to post that, but just got home, so I'm late with the answer.
Anyways, good to hear, you managed to solve it

Notifications in Lockscreen?

I've been using my iphone for the last few months but have recently decided to go back to my trusty old HOX. The problem is I've forgotten how to get facebook and twitter notifications to pop up on the lockscreen as they appear in real time. I can't even remember if they ever did do this, but I'm sure I remember something along those lines.
In ios7 the tweets and fb conversations pop up and light up the screen so you can just glance at your phone to see what's going on without actually turning it on. Is it possible in android? I noticed the social networking lockscreen option has disappeared, this might be what I was thinking of.
I'm using sense ARHD latest version, would consider flashing AOKP/CM to get this feature if it's possible.
Thanks.

Thanks, they are already syncing I just want the notification to come up on the lock screen.
I thought maybe there was a setting somewhere I'd forgotten about but now I don't think it's possible, at least not natively.
I might look into 3rd party lockscreens. If I find a solution I'll post here in case anyone else is interested.
Thanks for the help guys
DashClock (and the appropriate plugins) should be able to do that.

If you use ViperX rom, you can add applications on a one-by-one basis in their tweaks for the lockscreen. It comes up a little differently than normal Productivity sense 5 alerts, but I think that should be more what you're looking for.
