Facebook S! - Samsung's Facebook Application - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Today I was surprised to find a pretty cool addition to the store in the form of Facebook For Samsung or Facebook S! Apparently Samsung's isn't too happy with the current iteration of 'Facebook for Android' and decided to offer something better for its users. I found the app on the Galaxy S and am not sure if Samsung's other Android devices have also been blessed with this update.
I already have Facebook for Android installed and did not have to sign into the Facebook S! app after I downloaded and installed it. The major draw of the application is Samsung's location integration which lets you tag your status with your location either using GPS or by picking a location on a map.
A bunch of screenshots and a run down of the other features is here.

Gingerbread 2.3.3 port from Official Nexus One Rom

Acording to engadget today Nexus One is getting the 2.3.3 update today (or maybe in the next weeks...) ! Anytime soon we're getting a good stable rom i hope.
Any thoughts on that ?

Meh. The only thing I miss from Sense is the interface for selecting windows in the browser.
And maybe the little magnification window that appears when you're selecting text.
All the other features are pretty easily replaced. And my phone is faster now than it ever was on Sense roms.

I haven't found a replacement for the contact linking feature (linking gmail contact with facebook data too)
Anyone know of anything for this? It's basically the only reason i stay with sense

Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3) update now rolling out to Nexus S and Nexus One. Be patient, may take a few weeks for OTA to complete

Well from what I read, the facebook linking is gone with the new version. I also used the htc sense just for that but gave it up because sense is a battery hog.

there was an update to the engadget article about the facebook thing (see link above)
We believe it is very important that users are able to control their data. So in the over-the-air update for Nexus S, we have a small change to how Facebook contacts appear on the device. For Nexus S users who downloaded the Facebook app from Android Market, Facebook contacts will no longer appear to be integrated with the Android Contacts app. Since Facebook contacts cannot be exported from the device, the appearance of integration created a false sense of data portability. Facebook contact data will continue to appear within the Facebook app. Like all developers on Android, Facebook is free to use the Android contacts API to truly integrate contacts on the device, which would allow users to have more control over their data. We are removing the special-case handling of Facebook contacts on Nexus S and future lead devices. We continue to believe that reciprocity (the expectation that if information can be imported into a service it should be able to be exported) is an important step toward creating a world of true data liberation -- and encourage other websites and app developers to allow users to export their contacts as well.

Facebook sync

So, I've really enjoyed the switch from my Evo to the Nexus. I had quit using all of the Sense bloat already and was happy to see it go all together. However, I am finding I do miss one thing: having the integration between Facebook calendar/contact and the calendar/contacts from my email (in my case Exchange/Corporate email). It was nice having all of my Facebook contact avatars show up on my phone contacts and having all of the FB calendar events show up on the phone's calendar. Does anyone know if there's a way to duplicate that functionality? Anyone have any experience with an app that can sync everything? I looked at a few things in the market, but didn't find anything that could sync.
Thanks,
Rob
Google isnt allowing it. There is a rom that does though i guess.
edit - heres the xda thread

I'm wondering though based on the 4.0.3 sdk post if it means facebook might work once again.

Google is adding it back in with Android 4.0.3,http://www.androidpolice.com/2011/1...brings-bug-fixes-and-new-apis-for-developers/
"Social Stream API, Applications that use social stream data such as status updates and check-ins can now sync that data with each of the user’s contacts, providing items in a stream along with photos for each. This new API lets apps show users what the people they know are doing or saying, in addition to their photos and contact information."

We just have to wait for Facebook for Android to implement the API.
Here is what I am currently using:

Was going to say, Facebook still has to update their API and it seems (or at least I heard) that they aren't actively following Google's API information.

Does it work well on the gnex and ics?
It seems the FB non sync issue is more than about the API. FB info cannot be exported so google says it can be used
http://www.slashgear.com/nexus-s-lo...sync-as-google-tightens-data-policy-23135396/
I use friendcaster, not that great an app imo but it does the contact sync that the facebook app used to do and it works on ics
I feel a root/new ROM coming on.

[APP] Job Discovery - From WP7 to Win8

If you're not aware of this App, it was originally designed for WP7 and currently still exists but undergoing even more feature and UI changes, so keep looking out for it on WP7.
Anyways, this is a totally unfinished SS of the App and another SS of the App being able to send data to a snapped-App, my other App that is Facebook for Windows 8 (just showing how my Job App can send to pre-existing Apps and my Facebook App able to be used to send data to an auth'd end-users account; View FBMetro thread for more details).
Again, this is nowhere near done but check out the WP7 one to kind of get what will be added (Augmented Reality, Map, GPS/Turn-by-Turn Nav, etc).

Anyone running rooted stock figure out new Google calendar?

Along with the release of Lollipop today, Google released an improved version of their calendar app. The improvements are long overdue, and I was excited to install it, remove the htc calendar widget, and use Google's.
However, in the Play store on the calendar page, it lists numerous issues with HTC devices. I imagine though these are all software related though...and I am wondering who has tinkered with this yet and has figured out how to get calendar to utilize all the new features... I started by disabling the HTC calendar widget, and am now trying to disable the HTC calendar itself.
Add any comment below. Perhaps collectively, we can figure out how to get it to work.

Wearable widgets app working on Galaxy?

While I am waiting for my Galaxy, has anybody tried the older Wearable Widgets app for S3 on the Galaxy, and its phone companion app? Not sure why Samsung refused further store entries and hence development of this at first sight genius concept...bluetooth streaming regular Android widgets to the app face. Would open a huge number of widgets for apps not yet (or never) supported. http://wearablewidgets.com/gear/
Good news from a German forum, WearableWidgets running if fresh installation, not taken over from a S3 install. Letting you see for example the status of your smartphone battery.
