Adroid sounds in HTC Rhodium CMDA Sprint (IDEA FOR BABIJOOE) - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Android Development

Hi i dunno if here its the right place to post but i hope.
I was following the Babijoee thread for the XDandoird project hope some day he could do the Rhodium get sound, and i mean, in applications and ringing (in the log said that it does but in my phone isnt works ).
Well the point of this is that i was seraching for internet and get in to the PPCgeeks forum, where a user post that he can do it, and i tryied the version of Android, installed in my SD and open the haret, and it work i mean i have sound in my Rhodium Android, but... the data and the signal isn't work.
Im not developer and nothing but i just get the idea to mixed the Babijoee OS and the Ppcgeeks OS, i was playing around a couple of combinations and finally get one that can connect to Data, Signal and Sound... But the problem with this is that some times just reset by itself or just get a black screen (like if was locked or Stanby) and cant wake up.
So i was wonder if maybe babijoe could check this "combination" and maybe get his own SO works following some configurations from the Ppcgeeks version... that way we can have a Rhodium sounding and working with the cool babijoee Android version, cause i love it, its very fast and works awesome in my device.
well hope this can be readed for babijooe and tell my what he thinks about the idea. Cheerk for evertyone

Uhm... DUDE! Use the search!
Your radio/data not working it probably due the the startup.txt not having the force cdma command in it... Or it's set to 0 instead of 1 (assuming you're using a CDMA device... if Sprint, then yes.)
Sound works. You just need the newest kernel image.

Also not sure why you put "For Babijoee" when its a simple question. The system that Joe uses is XDAndroid, the system that I use is XDAndroid. They are build from the same git repo, with our own personal touches to each. They are the SAME THING. THEY BOTH HAVE DATA, SIGNAL, SOUND.......
The reason you dont have sound is obviously you need to update your kernel, and seeing as you have not read very much you probably have a jumble of files on your SD card, and your startup.txt probably needs to be set up for cdma/gsm depending on what you use. Maybe you are getting crashes and FCs because youre mix and matching 2 different OS systems together??? My instructions are pretty simple, and the FAQ is pretty clear. It seems to me you need to read up a bit more before you dive head first into projects.

I dont said that Babijoee's system dont have data/Signal, i said the one i get from ppcgeek dont have it, i dont want to be unpolite but, maybe u should read first again what i post.
and i know that be newbie is not a excuse, i just want to give an "idea" to babijooe intead just askin for things, i was trying most of the RC from He and i really like them, i see my mobile go faster without crash, in comparison with other Dev's i have been tried on the web and other forums.
its just like a "feedback" from his great Dev's, and i was thinking that i have something to "help" whit his devs.
P.S. My SD is in order "/andboot" and the rest of files u know maybe i dont read all the posts and dont know all the terms but im doing what i can to understand this new thing for me.
Sorry if i bother you with my doubts.
good vibes!

We both are using the same RC What Im saying is, you can have data! We have data on our builds for both CDMA and GSM, so its only a matter of figuring out what settings are not correct in your startup.txt!! It should work for you with only a few changes!! There is no need for a "fix" because its already working!
Read the FAQ about the startup.txt document! It holds all of your settings and must be changed in windows, winmo, some kind of txt editor (it must remain txt, and not be changed to word or office document).
This will work for either joe's build, or my build either one!
look for this line:
force_cdma=1 <=for CDMA
force_cdma=0 <=for GSM
Change your accordingly!

Firs nothing i want to give u my thanx, cause i dont know if its my idea but this "time" ur been totally different from the firt post.
Ok i check my Startup.txt. file and i dont have that config, so i change the file for the one i was using before, i only have this info, its this ok or something are missing:
set RAMSIZE 0x6000000
set RAMADDR 0x10000000
set mtype 2292
set KERNEL zImage
set initrd initrd.gz
#pwf dm.txt 0x8e0000 0x20000
set cmdline "msmvkeyb_toggle=off gsensor_axis=2,1,3 lcd.density=240 htc_hw.force_cdma=1 physkeyboard=rhod400"
boot
And thanx again, i really enjoying lear new thing like this.
good vibes!

So then you use Sprint? (rhod400=sprint CDMA) Did you try to remove your SIM card before you boot? There is a piece about that in the FAQ.
Try this one! Only download it and rename (obviously) to startup.txt.

Make sure you put those 3 lines back in there!
Also for your sound fix, try this. Download file below. Extract contents. Delete old zimage and modules files that are inside of Andboot. Replace old ones, with new ones from unzipped package.

Well this is working really good, i have sound in all aplications like Twidroyd, call, sms, gmail.
Most things works fine, ehy i dont say everything cause:
- Just one time i get a reset
- the battery just gets crazy, some time its totally drained and 20 seconds later are full again (kinda crazy lol)
- same with Data (3g conectios/internet) some times just dont get any connection and after some minutes gets ok again.
Really thanx i hope, get better and better with the Dev's cheer from here and good vibes!
----
Edit: The Data stills doing it, ge the icon but not the data/transfer :S

Ok after a few days trying this new Dev, works really good most of the time, but i dunno why some times just get on a reboting loop , just starts android in the Launcher Pro Home, and by itself it restarts, and again i enter to the SD (from WM) start Haret and after the bootscreen (android) it restarts again.
Does any Configuration maybe its wrong? or, the zImage? or the Kernel?
Please if somebody can tell me, the truth is that i dont have any clue cause i dunno this thing of developing, but like to lear.
Thanx if someone could help!

Excalibur in 96 DPI: Finally A Semi-Working Solution (Testing Purposes Only)

Hello Guys,
Finally, we have an almost working solution. A member has posted a .cab that changes your DPI from 131 to 96 DPI.
It works ! I have personally tested it myself. However, it still needs work done.
This looks great but it still needs some minor work done. If I do come across any solutions, I will keep you guys posted. If you guys come across anything, please post here so we can figure this one out.
Setup Instructions:
1) Run the WM6.1-131to96dpi.CAB file
2) when it asks for you to restart, do not restart.
3) Click Start, Accessories and run Command Processor, and click the "..." button.
4) Go to Menu, Browse Folder, and select the folder where you put the dpi.ccs file.
5) Now you will see the dpi file, and then go ahead and run it.
6) Wait for it go back to the homescreen and then reboot your phone.
Uninstall Instructions:
1) Start > Settings > Remove Programs
2) Select .CAB (131 to 96 dpi)
3) Click Remove Program
---------
Issues:
1) Programs in storage card - do not run OR files are missing
2) Rinku's Iconbar is slightly cut off from the bottom
3) Smart tool kits "start" button is misaligned
4) Wallpaper is slightly cut off from the bottom
5) NRG Miniweather - Date & Day are not properly aligned either
6) Pocket Nester Plus not working (maybe due to ROMs stored on storage card)
ATTENTION: PROGRAMS ON SD CARD ARE NOT WORKING, NOR ARE MY IMAGES FOR MYFAVES SHOWING UP. HOWEVER, STORAGE CARD SEEMS TO WORK.I UNINSTALLED IT AND EVERYTHING WORKS FINE.
I am posting screenshots for you guys and I have attached the .zip (which includes .cab and dpi.ccs) for you to download. The experts out there, use this as foundation and see if you can fix it for our phones.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
DISCLAIMER: USE THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. FOR NOW, THIS IS STRICTLY FOR TESTING PURPOSES ONLY. I'M NOT RESPONSIBLE IF YOU BRICK YOUR DEVICE OR ERASE THE CONTENTS OF YOUR DEVICE.
Credit goes to falleny for posting this .cab and pudgedaddy for instructions on how to fix dpi.ccs - Great Job!
Best Regards,
lukybandit
thanks for your updated screenshot...
try to delete lcd.ttf and plumsip5.dll from your windows folder
if it still have problem, i may ask the guy who make this cab

One thing i have a question with is how does this behave when using PIE or Opera Mobile or Opera Mini? or other applications such as games ?
Secondly, now un-installable is this app? If it's not something i want to use at this point, am i at the point of no return without hard-reset?

i can sure this is safe and uninstallable...have a try, if u don't like it...just uninstall it...from your setting menu
aiight it works fine...if u have LCD installed and use medium or larger format in Opera it won't look right. and yea...other than that...seems to be working fine...another note.
dpi.css.zip has to be renamed to dpi.css and then in CeleCMD you have to make it so it can see all files then u can run dpi.css...at least that is what i did. and all works fine.
edit: Or that.
works great...few issues...the messaging icons are a bit messed up...in celetask the 'reboot, shutdown, etc' icons are a bit messed up...hmmm...picture viewer is acting funny....and i cant access folders on my storage card just the storage card itself.
What's the purpose of lowering the dpi?
Please Check Post 1
I have fixed the dpi file by renaming dpi.css to dpi.ccs as well as unzipped it into the ZIP folder in first post. Thank you pudge for the instructions
Now you can follow the instructions and it should work as shown but there are still some minor issues except one being major that is SD programs are not working. I don't know how to fix this. If anyone comes across any fixes, please post here.
another issue...PocketNesterPlus not working (ROMS are stored on storage card so that may be the issue) get :
Error
_____________________
can not open or Mapper not supported
Thank you, and thanks to everyone that worked on this. I have been waiting for this for a while.
I was going to install it earlier today but i was getting a corrupt message from the dpi.css; Im glad you updated it very quickly.
If anyone is running Rickywatts vanilla ROM, you can find the command processor in "My Tools". Just a heads up.
Dang it, that sucks cause I got guitar hero three on my SD card... What the heck...
this is a great day thank you for your hard work. I tried this myself but my WM kung-fu is lacking anyone else?
First of all, thanks to all the developers and researchers responsible for making this happen.
Second, I'm getting the following error when I try to Install the cab (I open the cab, the progress bar goes all the way 'till its end the this is displayed):
"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions".
Is anybody else getting the same error and/or knows what should I do to get past it? I really want to try this...
BTW, my excalibur is app unlocked already (surreal networks app used).
Thanks in advance.
Cheers.
I really like the way this looks, but is there anything i can do to make the text a bit bigger?
Im running WM6.1 and the small text is somewhat hard to read.
Sorry guys if this is a repitive question, but what is the purpose of lowering the dpi? I have read post one Lukybandit, but it doesn't say what the benefit is.
Would someone mind posting a few reasons why this mod is desired?
Thanks.

Although i personally wouldn't recommend installing this at the moment ( issues with the storage card and alignment issues)
basically this works similarly to increasing your screen resolution on your PC.(minus the actual resolution changing) meaning it fits more stuff on your devices display since it shrinks down what is placed on your screen.

Hey,
Sorry, that post wasn't directed at you.
The only benefit I can see from this is what pudgedaddy said. By lowering the dpi, you are able to fit more things onto the screen and i guess it looks cleaner. Like that of a pc. I hope that answers your question.
That's great. Appreciate the info. Sounds like a fun mod. Will give it a try when you guys say it's ready .
man - great find. this would be so awesome if we can get the storage card isue working. the extra screen real estate is great for contacts, texts, damn near everything.
works as advertised and uninstalls perfectly.
Anyone have any progress with any of the issues? So far, I haven't been able to dig into it.
This thread is especially for people who showed deep interest in this project. I suggest you start testing, post feedback and try and find solutions since this has been made possible for those who wanted this.

Hi!
I'm willing to test it, but i can´t get around the problem i posted before:
"I'm getting the following error when I try to Install the cab (I open the cab, the progress bar goes all the way 'till its end the this is displayed):
"Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions".
I've already checked my phone's registry for any lock on the policies, but it's effectively unlocked, and other cabs/apps signed and unsigned install without any problem... BTW, I'm using Ricky's wm6.1 v23 ROM...
Can someone give me some help on this? I'd really appreciate it!
Thanks in advance and cheers.

Recommended tweaks & installs for Touch Pro 2

(lets see if this becomes a sticky )
Hello all. I just received my brand spanken new Touch Pro 2 and im currently playing with it to figure it out. Now most of you vet WinMo users know generaly what you want/need to do with your phone as soon as you get it. You know the tweaks that need to be done to make it faster, and what Aps work better than the defaults. While i know that knowledge is spread all around the forum, i though it would be nice if we collect that knowledge and pool it into one thread so that new owners can go right to it, and pick out everything they want with out hunting..
To that end, now that i am a new owner, i would like to know what I should do to it first and foremost. Ive heard their is a way to tweak the camera to make it preform better (for instance), and i know theirs a way to turn off, or make a quicker way to switch on and off 3g. This is manly the kind of stuff im looking for..
Also. Ive seen a recommendation on how to charge the battery for the first time. Pretty much Anything you guys can think of that new owners should/or need to do to get their Touch Pro 2 working in Top order. I would like to know this (so i dont end up running a slower version cause i missed something..
So how bout it? (i will edit this post as suggestions/links are posted)

That is a *little* more than i want to be throwing at first time WinMo users. IVe been using smart phone edition for a while so i can atleast find my way around, but given this is a new phone, and my first time using a full Winmo, i dont feel quite comfortable (yet) playing around in the registry. What im looking to collect here is "Out of the box" type of adjustments that most here would say should be made.
That other thread is good for later, but i just want to get the "ok you have your phone, now set it how it should be" mode.

Keyboard backlight

So I was going through just about all the posts yesterday and ran through the FAQ as well and couldn't find the answer. Anyway to get the backlight to turn on for the keyboard. Realized it doesn't automaticaly turn on last night when I tried to text in the dark =P
-------------------------------------
Sent via the XDA Tapatalk App
there is only one solution for that at the moment, i believe. B4 u boot up Android, while in windows mobile, open up the keyboard so the light comes on. then start up Android. whatever lights are on b4 the boot, will stay on the entire session unless u boot back to windows mobile. ur keyboard lights will stay on constantly, even with it closed.
there ya go, easy, simple, nighttime wrkaround ;-)
ya i figured that =/ thatll suck the heck out of the battery tho. i appreciate the response tho. I was surfin through and found there's basicaly an equivalent to "cooking for dummies" on the forum so im gonna start gettin into developing and see if i can help contribute to perfecting 2.1 for everybody as far as workin on what needs to be fixed. btw off context i was really interested in the overclockin but i cant find where to enter it in the startup.txt so i copy and pasted the code with my desired frequency. did i do it right?

interested in overclocking huh? lol no problem . i could write u an essay detailing it but it might be easier just to just go to the Rhodium Android Project page. theres a section on overclocking and startup txts. If u cant get it going, juss post back here or send me a PM and ill upload mines for u. then all u have to do is make a backup copy of the original startup txt(for just in case). then delete it, the startup txt in andboot folder. then just download mines in there. In the main rhodium android thread ive posted mines up. its a few pages back though..lol also Atmosphere does a good explanation of the overclocking also. let me know when u ready if u cant get it to wrk.
Demandarin, I think you need to do a [MOD] thread on overclocking to consolidate all your info there. Jussayin.

i feel ya on that one. lol It is explained on the Project page but no one really be lookin at it...lmfao that might be a good idea though. I know im all over these threads with the overclockin thing. It seems as if i started a revolution or somethin. Everyone wants to overclock now. which theres nothing wrong with that. its just if people devices start goin on the fritz, they gonna look at me...lmao people have to do the research first on it, instead of just jumping in blindly and then wondering how to take care of issues when they arise. It goes for anything having to do with modifying ur device. good idea though. i just might do that. or someone might beat me to the punch.

[Q] WIFI not working in neopeeks december built

hi every1
recently i went on to try the neopeek edition hoping it would keep my storage card cleaner when i work in windows mobile but have tumbled upon a problem...
perveiosly perfectly workin wifi on FRX 03 edition is no longer working for me in neopeek...i definitly want to keep neopeek edition...
to solve the problem ive copied the latest kernel from 18th december and copied it to both the root of the storage card aswell as "zimage" into the folder named "npkinstall"...but it didnt help the cause(something i must have done incorrectly here)
i am newbie in android world so please guide me what do i need to do to get the wifi going(carrier data is working fine for me)
Help please
Why didn't you post in the neopeek thread...? Oy. I can help you with FRX03, but neopeek builds are a little different, and you should probably keep posts about that build with that thread. Normally, you'd place the zImage and modules-xxxx.tar.gz file where you run haret.exe from... Keep in mind you should delete old files before replacing anew, and there should be a modules file that goes with the zImage.
ops sorry abt not postin it in neopeek
thanks for takin time to reply to my query though
actually FRX 03 here was more helpful than neopeek1 which s been shifted to other domain where people are rather slow to response...ive also posted in there but no help has comeso far
ive come back to FRX 03 and everything is smooth i was jus curious all those people sayin neopeek is faster
sorry mods about creatin the new thread..i did use the search function though

Why didn't you post in the neopeek thread...? Oy. I can help you with FRX03, but neopeek builds are a little different, and you should probably keep posts about that build with that thread. Not that much.
You know I tested through a couple of Neopeek's builds and that I am using/testing Xdandroid FRX03.
Neopeek uses Xdandroid kernels and I am quite sure that its better performance relies 99% on just the swap partition.
I can say I am pretty sure of this because purposely performed an install of the latest Neopeek without building the swap partition, and it was as fast as the FRX03 actually is.
Discovered that, there's no more interest for me testing Neopeek's builds, as I believe indeed that they are just "cosmetics" (even the hardparted SD) on Xdandroid, so I prefer staying on the main build.

To try helping you about this problem, Neopeek's "optimizations" ruined some features on Rhodiums, with newer kernels.
You should try using older ones, step by step, until you get the right one.
As the Wifi completely not switching on is related to the system_process going berserk (ForceClose - Wait), I suggest you to give it at least a half dozen reboots until the system_process problem is gone (if it is) before jumping to the next kernel.
Some kernels seem to be more susceptible about this.
However, as of my experience, if you intend to use Android a little more than "shoot it up, play a bit and then get back to winmo", I would suggest you to stick to Xdandroid.
While trying them a lot, I got the feeling that Neopeeks builds are just style excercises, with no follow ups: all dead tree arms, like if the dev there just tries one new thing each day, just to see what happens.
This to me makes them nice shiny toys to show to friends for 5 mins, nothing more.
I use FRX03 on TP2 workphone, I sync contacts, calendar and emails both with corp Exchange server and personal Gmail account. I use proper GPS nav on it.
With nothing more tha 1,5 batteries a day.
No Neopeek can do this.
took ur advice and now am back on xdandroid
add line "wifi.interface=eth0" to build.prop and remove "wifi.interface=tiwlan0"

[Q] how to install buttonremapper on XDANDROID FRX06?!

HEllo i woud like to install buttonremapper on XDandroid frx06 but in wont let me because i think it's not full rooted! how can I install it?!
Huh? Guess I'll have to try it on my RAPH110 to see if that is the device you are talking about. Not sure what you mean by "not fully rooted" as if it wasn't fully rooted, I wouldn't be able to install half of the apps/programs I have on there...
At best, it might be a device compatibility issue but this XDAndroid not fully rooted deal is hogwash to me(IMO).
[on another tangent]
Don't just say stuff like that unless you know for a fact that is the problem. It makes your problem less likely to be solved by the devs that work on the project and possibly from others that would otherwise be willing to help. And if you don't care one way or the other, why post about it?
FRX06 is most certainly 'rooted'. Titanium Backup wouldn't work otherwise...
I looked at that app, and I don't think we can use that app. You can remap buttons in the rootfs, which native Android devices do not have...

I posted a opinion, not a fact!

Question: Are you dumb?!
@arrrghhh
Well, maybe you can help me in another way. My problem is the following: my qwerty keyboad has the "A" & "F" letter unfunctional and in windows i had rebind them to other keyz. Does exists a solution for this problem on XDAndroid?!
Not really but I was being a tad sarcastic... I'm goint to take a stab in the dark and say you didn't catch it. Oh well, I don't suppose you want to tell us what device you are attempting to run this on(which was my main question and yes, I have seen other device owners post here). So, there's no way I can be of further assitance, my friend :enter sad face of choice here:
Additionally, you should take Arrrghhh's suggestion to remap the buttons in the rootfs... No idea how to help you in that arena either
Yea, you'd have to make your own keymap basically. It's doable, read thru F22's rootfs thread - there's tips on how it all works. Bust open the rootfs by bind mounting it on a Linux box and see what's inside. I believe the kl files are the ones you'll need to modify, just make your own and reference it in the startup.txt.
F22's rootfs thread link
Find the rootfs thread mentioned above HERE

****! i thaugt that there is a app that can easily do it like in winMO. I don't have a clue of what you where instructed me! hope someday i'll have time to learn how to succesfuly rebind them! Thank you arrrghhh for now!
@R^7Z leave the sarcasm for other that have a nice life! It's not easy to buy a new keyboard when the price of one piece is half of my income/mounth. :|
"To each their own" my friend! I hope you find the good in the day...
Sorry, your situation is pretty unique. Perhaps there's something simple missing why it can't remap buttons on the fly, but I'm not aware of what. I would look into it deeper, but again - because of your unique situation I don't think it would really be worth it.
Just installed it in Gingerbread (alpha) and it FC'd when I attempted to run it but haven't had a desire to downgrade to FRX06 yet...
I might consider it later when I actually have the time...
