Same problem for me and same ROM...

what you need to do is put your desire in recovery and use adb to delete google maps. just mount /system/ and use the command rm /system/app/maps.apk then you can just reinstall google maps from the market

Tried this, still fails to install. Now I don't have maps. Fancy uploading your Maps.apk please?
Edit: Scrap that, check out this.

You can also try this, did it yesterday and working fine.
To remove Google Brut so you van instal the original Google Maps follow the steps. Works fine.
1.
Remove the following files from your phone.
The first two files (red) I did not delete but temporary renamed with Root Explorer to com.google.android.maps.jar.old and com.google.android.maps.xml.old
com.google.android.maps.jar in system\framework
com.google.android.maps.xml in system\etc\permissions
maps.apk in system\app (delete this one from phone)
2. Reboot
3. Extract Maps.apk from the downloaded ROM file. Find it in system\app
4. Copy back or rename back the xml & jar file, and install the maps.apk from the removed rom manually using htc sync or the way you normaly install a APK file.
5. Reboot
6. Uninstall Google Map. You uninstal the installed version from step 4.
7. Reboot to recovery, clear cache & dalvik cache
8 Install google map from market
9. Done

Which comands to use to replace stoch maps with maps(brut)

Hi everyone,
i', new here in the forum so i tried to find some answers to my question but so far no luck.
I'm using modaco r3 with ASD+ and i'd like to replace the stock maps.apk withe the maps(brut) with navigation.
Which comands do i have to use in recovery to remove the original maps.apk and install the maps(brut).apk to system/app??
Many thanks
settings > applications > MANAGE APPLICATIONS > uninstall google maps, install maps brut with some sort of filemanager.. estrong, astro, linda file manager or whatever..
I thoud this was unpossible wo system/apps acces.
well i want to push the maps(brut) into system/app... (first delete original maps)
isn't that possible on the desire?
Brut doesn't have to go in /system/app, as I recall. I believe I installed it and the navigation option before I ever had root, so there was never any chance of getting into /system.
If you really do want it to go in /system/app, then you need to:
Boot to recovery (get the green menu screen)
Get into an adb shell
Inside the shell, run "mount /system"
cd /system/app
ls (to find what the relevant apk is)
rm <packagename>.apk
exit
adb push <location of brut.apk> /system/app
Reboot
That should be it. I take no responsibility, have a full nandroid backup, etc etc etc, but that's all you have to do.
thanks
i don't have to unmount system?

I don't think anything else is running that would even require the /system partition, as otherwise it would have mounted it itself, so don't worry about it.
do you really need the [brut] map now that the stock map has navigation?

I have root explorer and ES file pro and i can push the app into the system folder but when i try to install it in the system folder it starts to install but then at the ends it says did not install. Can someone help me out with this? When i overwrote the google quick search box apk it disappeared from the widgets tray. Now i have no google search bar widget at all and i really don't wanna do a restore over that. Help its personal now. I've al ready made the permissions the same. Maybe there's a way to push it with CWM?

Google search is a part of google framework service. So, clear the data/cache for both apps after you place the google search app into /system/app folder. Reboot your phone. Once after you place the google search app into /system/app folder, you need to check the permission is same as other apps in /system/app folder.
When you push a system app, you don't need to install it, just set the permissions right and reboot. Did you use a deodexed apk?

Well that doesn't work. Permissions are set right. I've rebooted. Just doesn't show up in the widgets tray or in the system applications list. Its in the system/app folder but its like its not installed on the system. I've cleared all the cashes several times and rebooted several times. Is there any way to flash it or manually install it?

Why would you like to install it as a system app?
Installing it normally e.g. on CM9 via play store works fine.

Basically you just install the Google Map first
Then install Root Browser Lite and open it (you may try other browsers but I personally prefer this)
Find and move Google Map (I don't know its exact name in there) from /data/app to /system/app
Fix the permission to rw-r--r-- (644)
Reboot
Done
Please refer to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844923 for more info

Force install Google Play Services in some ROMs.

Hi guys, today I will show you how to force install Google Play Services in some ROMs.
Method #1 (My thread, actually):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2248648
Method #2 (Only tested on Hyperion 8):
1. Download lastest Google Apps from anywhere.
2. Extract it.
3. Paste the files into their respective location (expect META-INF).
4. Change their permission to rw-r--r-- (if you want do it)
5. Reboot into CWM.
6. Wipe data, cache & dalvik cache.
7. Do fix permissions and reboot.
8. Open Play Store and tap Agree. Then let it download Google Play Services.
Method 3:
1. Download lastest Google Apps from anywhere.
2. Extract it.
3. Extract your ROM.
4. Paste the extracted Google Apps into the extracted ROM (into their respective location).
5. Rezip your ROM (and resign the zip)
6. Flash it, do fix permission and reboot.
7. Open Play Store and tap Agree. Then let it download Google Play Services.
NOTE: It is recommended to make Nandroid backup first. Do it at your own risk.
