i got the same error also..you will need to remount first..
mount -o remount, rw /system
thats should be okay then..^_^

doesn't work, cause the phone not able to boot after cping the 3 files.

it didn`t work for me either ...
I get a no space for copy error too ...
is it possibile that the one click lag fix could be causing it ?
anyway my phone booted with normal skin ... but got few odd vibrations on startup
EDIT:
Managed to get it working using Android SDK tools. ROOT needed
Connected my phone via usb with the computer ... USB debuging needs to be enabled before connecting the phone.
copy the files included in Dena Themev1.1 to your internal SD card.
1. adb shell
2. su (grant su rights on your phone when asked)
3. mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock3 /system
3. rm system/framework/twframework-res.apk
4. rm system/framework/framework-res.apk
5. rm system/app/settings.apk (if no file is found try Settings.apk ... no ide if it matters tho)
6. cp sdcard/twframework-res.apk system/framework
7. cp sdcard/framework-res.apk system/framework
8. cp sdcard/Settings.apk system/app
Then reboot your phone manually.
Worked for me with a few minor bugs tho.
So i suggest you bacup the original *.apk`s

cp: no found
help me

Install busybox.
And a please would not have been too much

Those files autometically comes on /system/sd and it not deleted. Saying delete faild
How to delete?

When i format the sdcard and delete partition and create a new pertition and flashed apps2sd enable rom. Then in /system/sd , there is no file like that. So then i can install any apps. But again when i install another rom like repencics,corbits or etc. Those files autometically comes on /system/sd and i unable to install apps. Getting restart.. Very important thinks that using root explorer with w/r and in cwm , it is not deleted and plz see this pic

Unless you know what those are for and what exactly they do, I'd recommend leaving system files alone.
Anyway, to delete make sure you mount as r/w.
and if u delete them without knowing what r they use for ....
then ur whole os might get crash
and will result in some probs !
its better to leave them as it is
You'll have to mount it as Read/Write and then you'll be able to del them ..
U are using Root explorer .. so there is a toggle button to switch between [Read and Write] and [Read Only] .. at the top with labels Mount R/W and Mount R/O respectively..
So make sure you have mounted it as Read And Write and then you can delete or rename or whatever you want..
But why do you want to del those files?
Those are system files so its better not to touch them unless you know what you are doing!

[Q] Phone apk [2.3.7] Abtekk's Custom ROM [V3] [25-JAN-2012]

Hello,
I have a problem with the calling feature of this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458749
and by the way i love this ROM, big thx to Abtekk
The problem is that i can not touch the # and *, there are behind the keyboard and i can not access them during a phone call when the robot on the phone aske me, WTF ???
Is there an extra phone/call apk that i can install or flash someting ?
Thx a lot for your help and sorry for my english
I ran this ROM for quite a while and never experienced any problems with dialer. Sorry, but I don't know what to suggest, only the fact it was fine for me. Might be worth trying a re-flash.
Do you know how can i change the dialer ?
Here is a picture

}
So as you can see i can not access the # and *
Thx a lot
You could try putting this file in System/app with a root explorer then reboot, its from CM 7. Do a nandroid first though just in case.
I can not copy it in my /system/app , it not allow me to copy on /system/app !?
(i try with io file manager)
EDIT: I read some info on the net and my phone is S-On, i try to put it on S-OFF for editing system files
Thx
You need to mount the /system partition as read-write.
Easiest way (and free) is to download ES File Explorer and in the settings tick Root Explorer and Mount File System.
You should be able to copy files into /system/app now.
Ok i install ES explorer, give root eccess, super user permission and mount system but it still not allow me to copy something to /system/app !
Maybe it is because of the S-ON thing ?
Thx again
You should be able to flash it I think, use winrar to place your apk in the /system/app folder in this zip http://db.tt/ji223eQK then mount system and flash it in cwm.
The contacts.apk that's already in the zip is from cm7.2.

I directly use your zip with the contact.apk inside, i reboot on recovery, mount system in the advance recovery menu and flash the zip like a ROM. Flash complete but nothing has change when a make a phone call, it's still the same dialer ...

[TUTORIAL][SOFTKEYS] Change Softkeys at GNex with ZipThemer and without (CM11)

The Problem at CM11 is that the SoftkeyZ app doesnt work.
This is baecause of the following problem:
The folder is normally /system/app (for SoftkeyZ),
but in cm11 it is /system/priv-app.
But it can be done manually by two Methods.
Not only for CM11
You need :
-Root Explorer
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.speedsoftware.rootexplorer&hl=de
First Method:
Now:
-Go to /system/priv-app/SystemUI.apk
-Extract to sd card
-Go to folder of the softkey you downloaded and put the .png files to :
/SystemUI/res/drawable-xhdpi
-Paste them and overwrite the old files.
-Zip the SystemUI folder with the new data.
-Go to SystemUI.zip and rename "SystemUI.zip" to "SystemUI.apk".
-Put the renamed SystemUI.apk to the /system/priv-app.
-Overwrite the old SystemUI.apk.
-Reboot manually ( the SystemUI.apk is mostly crashed at the first time doing this).
-After reboot set permissions of the SystemUI.apk to rw-r-r
Second Method: (Tested only at CM11)
ZipThemer is usable with this Method and you can make FLASHABLE ZIPS!
-Download the softkeys you want
- Extract them .
- Go to folder of the extracted
- There is one folder named "SystemUI" and a "nameofsoftkeys.xml"
- Open the .xml file with Text editor it look like this :
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",
"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",
"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
- Then change the line "<path>/system/app/</path>" to "<path>/system/priv-app/</path>"
- Save settings and go back. (delete the "nameofsoftkeys.xml.bak")
- Zip the folder where the SystemUI folder and the .xml file is included
- Go to Zipthemer (NOTE: Extras -> Update Edify -> browse for actually ROM -> Configure !! If not it may not work.)
- Go back to ZipThemer and search at "+Theme" for the new Zip
- Build it. And then go to Recovery and flash the zip. If this doesn't work then flash the undo.zip to reactivate the old softkeys.
Done
Screenshots can be posted here. :good:

Install recovery without pc[only rooted device]

I have Tried this on my Xperia S LT26i Working
LOCKED Boatloader

[ download ]
CWM6-cDM_v2.2-DooMLoRD-Xperia_S-JB
DOWNLOAD ABOVE FILE AND AFTER DOWNLOAD EXTRACT IT WITH 7ZIP OR WINRAR
IN THAT FILE GO TO FILES FOLDER
THERE ARE SEVERAL FILES IN THAT BUT WE NEED ONLY chargemon , cwm-install.sh , recovery.tar

ya well said its will easy for new commers
or just put chargemon, tar archive, .sh file and busybox in data/local/tmp (i dont know it is important where we place it, but this localization is in PC install script) and when we paste files - just run .sh file. thats all.
IMP thing of Recovery
Whenever you Format /system in recovery Dont Close Recovery(Reboot or TURN OFF)
INSTALL STOCK or CUSTOM ROMS AFTER THAT OR RETORE IT (WITH YOUR BACKUP)
BECAUSE AFTER FORMAT THERE IS NO OS IN YOU DEVICE YOUR MOBILE WILL STUCK ON SONY LOGO ..
IF YOU CAN CONNECT XPERIA S WITH PC ITS WILL EASLY TO YOU .. YOU CAN FLASH
BUT THOSE WHO CAN'T CONNECT TO PC [USB NOT RECONISED, UNKNOWN DEVICE] THEY HAVE TO GO TO REPAIR SO PLZ DON'T TO IT
SO BE ALERT ...!!!!!!!!!

Enable init.d support on any rom [Stock] without any app

One thing that i like very much about android is init.d support which enable user to run script during the device boot up so by putting Boost script in the init.d folder which is present in /system/etc/init.d can significantly improve device performance..
So without say much here is the method :
Requirement:
1 Rooted Phone obviously
2 File Explorer like Esfile Explorer with root access option enable
3 BusyBox Latest 1.22.1
4 A Good Luck
Process:
1 Open ESFiles Explorer and navigate to /system/etc and look for init.d folder if there is no folder name [init.d] then create one by click on +new button on ESFiles Explorer, or if init.d folder present than Goto step 2
2 Navigate to /system/etc folder and look for file name "install-recovery.sh" if present then Goto step 3
3 In /system/etc folder Create one file name "init.post_boot.sh"
4 Now open both "install-recovery.sh" & "init.post_boot.sh" one by one and write down following command at the beginning of the both file
Command:
#!system/bin/sh
run-parts /system/etc/init.d/*
{Above Lines are case sensitive}
5) Download the test.init.d.zip file from the below attachment link
6) put the 0test file in /system/etc/init.d folder and set permission rwx-rwx-rwx
7) Reboot device :fingers-crossed:
NOTE after Reboot open ESFiles Explorer and navigate to /data and there you will see Test.log file meaning init.d support working perfectly

HIT Thanks if you like the post
Nice Turotial. But there is already an app called "Universal Init.d Support" that does all the job easily with just one click.
Here is the apk.
Credit for the app goes to its respective owner.
Yeah thats true But being a geek I like to do things by myself also uni-init v does the same thing as what I said it. uni-init enable works the same way and did the same tweak to enable init.d support
nice information,,thanks for a great script
