Welcome to the HTC Vision (TMOUS G2 and Desire Z) Radio ROM & Official BLs Thread!
Well, my old HD2 Radio ROM Thread became a reference for all HD2 users, so.. I'm retrying this here now

Installing:
0. Make sure you've got the ENGINEERING HBOOT installed on your device!
1. Download the archive
2. Decompress it, you'll have a .img file (its name should be "radio.img")
3. Copy it into your fastboot folder
4. Boot your device into FastBoot mode and connect it to your PC via USB
5. Go into your Android SDK folder with CMD (Windows) or Linux terminal
6. Flash the Radio on your device: "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
7. Wait until the process finishes. You should read "COMPLETE" on your device's display.
8. Reboot
9. Enjoy!
Please note that you should flash a new radio only if you really know what you're doing!
NOTE: 26.04.02.17 is known to work on G2 and most probably all the radios are flashable on both G2 and D-Z.
Happy flashing!

FAQ:
...Now Coming...

Is this the ship desire z rom? And if so, can someone please explain how to flash it too this G2. Thanks for help.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

These are only Radio ROMs.
Anyway, it's dangerous to flash a Desire Z on a G2 and vice versa: I don't know if crossflashing will brick the phone.
Flashing a Desire Z Radio ROM on your T-Mobile G2 is at your own risk.

Alright, thanks for the insight

Can I suggest leaving the G2 stuff out for now until we know it works ok on a DZ ? Otherwise this could be a recipe for disaster ?

If you have to ask... you probably shouldn't be doing it.
Search is your friend.

Would there be any benifit to flashing the Hboot to the g2 , Im looking to try and get the Z rom on my G2 , the current posted ruu fails to install and so i was thinking if i could flash the hboot then it might think it was a Z not G2 and would work , any thoughts?

I would like to flash a better radio in my wifes phone... She has a G2 but I have an HD2 and have experience in flash my HD2 but not on the G2 ... He radio sucks constantly falling out of HSDPA
Edit: This question belongs in the HTC: Vision G2 Forum (General). If you have not already done so, please visit that forum for your answer. ~TheRomMistress

New Radio and hboot added.

Flashin Desire Radio
I have a Hd2 running the desire Z rom. Does it make sense to flash the Desire radio posted here?

If you flash it on an HD2 you'll brick it.
These radios are only for HTC Vision, and I'm not sure even if they're cross-flashable (G2 radio on D-Z and vice versa).

In some forums there is a thread like "[REF] ALL ROMS | ROOTING | FAQ's | STICKIES | POSTING RULES - Read before posting"
Searching information about android is like walking in a maze. I know some questions are irritating but it is easy to say: "hit the search button".
Sorry for my crappy english.

NO NO NO, do not do that! Check the link in my sig w/ my current radio for a list of compatible HD2 radios. Just remember, if it is TMO you should ONLY flash .50 radios

My god, this is a dangerous post, a very dangerous post!
The one sure way of bricking your phone is flashing the wrong radio,
User Beware!!!
JD

Yes you should beware, but I am almost certain the G2 radio's will be fine (source at HTC told me) but I have not tested.
Someone will need to be brave enough to take the first step

Do we even know how to flash a new radio yet ?

i just installed curso v1.0 on my hero. i installed the rom only, didnt install the radio or spl. i even installed curso 0.5 kernel. no problem so far.
edit
spl i had installed way back.
my radio is 09.26
From what I understand the radio upgrade is to prevent the phone from getting bricked (when updating the spl), so if you already have the mentioned spl you should be fine.
Also I don't think anyone who has has at least the Hero EU radio has to worry about wrong radio when going for flashing the spl, but I could be wrong.
That said I'd think twice before flashing a Rom that needs you to have the unlocked spl. Because the risk of bricking your phone is very real, when flashing an spl. (This is for those who do not have the said spl of course).
Is this really for the GSM HERO?!
Well if you look at the guy's sig, he seems to be using it himself on his hero... what's the worst thing that could happen?
tried it and booted up fine on my hero.
huh?? no where does it mention that this rom is for the GSM hero, it seems like it is meant for the HTC magic, even the instructions given to change the spl and radio are for the magic. Also in his signature the creator of this ROM himself uses the modaco 3.1 on his hero, and his own creation on the MAGIC 32A. I wouldn't recommend flashing this rom onto your hero. nor would i recommend following instructions mentioned there to upgrade your SPL or radio, follow instructions given in the HERO section only.

is what it says in his sig... seems as if his using it on his hero. anyways, it IS a magic rom. it even said so on the introduction screen. but it can be used on the hero, just like they can use hero roms on the dream. the spl is the same as modacos posted here in the hero section. and the radio is also the same as the hero-radios found here in the hero section. I can guarantee there is no prob flashing this rom. With that being said after playing around with it I found no faults in it, but on the other hand nor did I find a reason to use this instead of MCR... but variety is still a good thing.

you could try and make a goldcard and flash a generic rom, apart from that there is not much you can do, you cant root the 1.75 roms yet
ok then how do i go with the goldcard thing? btw what is a goldcard exactly ?
use search pls..there are many threads about that in the Developement Thread.
btw, mine is also tmobile branded. there are some apps ok, and the startscreen..who cares
i wouldnt install an official rom..warranty is gone and fota doesnt work as easy as now. (yeah you can flash back the stock one...)
just my 2 cents

Man tmobile makes the phone run a bit slow ( talking about fastboot).. takes 2.5 sec on official rom,, takes a minute on branded rom.

I'm in the same position as Leather|Face. I know almost nothing about rooting/flashing a phone or gold cards. I also have a DHD with T-Mobile UK but want to get rid of all the branded stuff (especially the boot screen which makes booting the device take around a minute !!).
I have tried searching these forums for a solution but due to the fact I don't exactly know what I'm looking for it is quite difficult. I see a lot of "ROMs" on here for download, I don't know which one I need or if I need one at all, nor do I know how to install them. There seems to be a LOT of help guides for this kind of thing for the HTC Desire, but not the HTC Desire HD - probably because it's a lot newer, or not? This is the way I understand the process, please correct me if I'm wrong and point me in the right direction to complete these tasks;
1. First step would be to "root" my phone, which I believe gives me admin/superuser priveleges, and that's all it does right? I don't know how to do this.
2. Next I need to find the correct ROM, which would be the stock ROM for HTC Desire HD (don't know where to find this either, tried searching). Does this ROM include the unbranded version of HTC Sense UI etc, or am I on the wrong tracks?
3. Install the stock ROM, which I believe is more commonly referred to as "Flashing a ROM", is this correct? I don't know how to do this either.
As you can see from above, I have limited understanding of the process, and what I think I understand may be completely incorrect anyway! I want to find a guide to get back the stock DHD Android/Sense UI, ideally with explanations for a newbie telling me WHY I am doing specific tasks and how they affect my phone etc.
I'll be thankful for any help

1. No, first step if you *really* want to do this is to look at how you downgrade from 1.7x to 1.32 (I think, check elsewhere).
2. HTC ROMs, the stock version, are just that. Networks add their stuff to customise it and that's what you're stuck with right now. I don't know which you'll need unfortunately, I'm on T-Mobile with the DHD but I got one before they were available on the site to everyone and it has no branding at all. The ROMs are RUU - ROM Update Utility but I don't think you can just flash stock over a T-Mobile branded version.
3. If you don't know how to flash a ROM then you're going to have to learn how by reading lots of threads and asking careful questions.
I can't give you links because I don't know how to go from branded to stock, I only know what I need to for my phone. I was in the middle of typing out what I think you need to do but I got stuck due to the stock ROM. I don't know if the downgrade process will work or not, and if it does work I don't know if that's downgrading to a stock ROM. I'm sorry I've just added more confusion
Suffice to say you'll need at least this information...
How to downgrade from branded to stock HTC firmware
One-click root tool at some point
Possibly / probably an install of the Android SDK to use ADB commands, not sure on this but I have it already from my G1 days.
Information on which is the stock EU or UK ROM version (RUUs remember?)
The search isn't handy when you don't know what you're looking for but hopefully this will give you somewhere to start.
Thats strange, my DHD is from T-Mobile and has no branding on it whatsoever.
right..you cant really call it fastboot on tmobile rom.
dont you think we could claim them for "doing" that? they sell the dhd with the spec "fastboot"..so its limited in its features..

Dunno about colours but battery life and overall speed and performance are way better than stock
I was in the exact same position Dutch vodafone branded 1.75 softwareversion. I somehow managed to create a goldcard, downgrade, root my device and then S-OFF. I used the provided tutorials in the Android development section. Before that I just read alot untill I convinced myself I could do it. After that I used generic 1.72 RUU.exe via pc to flash my DHD. My device is now unbranded. Creating the goldcard was the hardest part, pay attention as you need to write mmc2/mmc2 instead of mmc1/mmc somewhere in the process.

I was just about to start the first process above (downgrading) when I noticed my current Build number = "1.39.110.1 CL278886 release-keys". Now I don't know what most of that means, but in the downgrading forum it says this;

[Q] What radio version I have + more

Hello,
This is a silly question but i have searched the entire forum+google and I didnt find an answer on this.
So 3 questions
I am considering to install the Virtuous v3.2.0 ROM and in the thread it says
You must be rooted, have nand unlocked and be running a 2.x radio. Follow dadicus' guide for details on how to perform these steps.

NAND unlock = S-Off(?), checked
Radio 2.x??? How do I know what radio version I have?
My Baseband version is 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
1) So is this my radio version? And if it is how i determine if it is 2.X?
Also I read the thread for updating a radio
I have rooted and S-OFF the phone with Easy Radio and S-Off tool. My question is:
2) It is ok to jump to Step 3?
3) And the version of the Radio that i will flash has anything to do with the current version? I mean to put 2.X i need to have 1.X?
Thank you for your time!

Edit: I've just re-read your post and you've linked to a Droid Incredible ROM but you're posting in the Desire HD forums... The DHD radios won't work on a Droid Incredible, and the Incredible ROMs won't work on a DHD. Ignore everything below unless you're on a DHD!
I assume by "2.x radio" they mean a radio from one of the Gingerbread 2.x bases. Go to the Radio Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877295 and check the description against each radio.
For example your radio for your 12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M it says "HTC WWE 1.32.405.6", so I would think you need to update your radio. A lot of people are using the radio from the official Gingerbread final release
28th April 2011: Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - HTC Ace Gingerbread S 2.36.405.5
Regarding flashing the radio, I haven't read that thread in detail but it's for the Droid Incredible, and the method won't be the same for the DHD. There are better instructions in the radio thread I linked. Hope that helps.
Nice one my dear me

Heh, no problem. The radio info is good then. You're on a very old radio, so if you want to try a custom ROM based on Gingerbread then it would still be a good idea to update it. Check the thread and also follow the link in it to the info about Radio RILs.
And there is a Virtuous "Unity" ROM for the DHD by the same team, the thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1115312
Thanks, maybe that was the one that the guy suggested then
I will check the links. Respect

Can I jump directly and install 28th April 2011: Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - HTC Ace Gingerbread S 2.36.405.5

Or because my radio is so old I will have to make some intermediate updates?

You won't have to make any intermediate updates, but I'm not 100% sure how the Gingerbread radios (2.x) work on Froyo ROMs - might be worth asking in the thread. I know people are doing it the other way around, i.e. using older Froyo radios (1.x) on newer GB ROMs.
But if you're on a Froyo ROM and about to change to a Gingerbread one, most custom GB ROMs have the RIL files for the radio above included. In that case you're fine, and it doesn't matter whether you flash the ROM or the radio first.
Yeap its me again Sorry for the many questions but I read that flashing a radio is too risky and I do not want to attempt anything before I am 100% sure that I have the full picture...
In the thread that you gave me with the radios (and thank you for that) next to the radio version there is a provider
eg
25th February 2011: Radio_12.28g.60.140f_26.05.05.27_M3 - Orange UK 1.84.61.2 / CSL-HK CHT 1.84.832.2

Does it matter?
Also the author suggests to download this one
[*] 4th January 2011: Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_SF - HTC WWE 1.72.405.3 R2

What I need to know before choosing the correct radio?
Thanks again :|

Hi again. Don't worry, this is the Q&A forum after all.
I guess in theory flashing anything is risky, but it's very difficult to "brick" a DHD (i.e. make it completely un-fixable). I've flashed radios dozens of times, searching for that elusive perfect one. And if anything should go wrong (unlikely), as long as you have a working bootloader you can restore just about anything else. Just take your time and follow instructions written specifically for the DHD, the best ones are generally found in these forums.
By the way, you need to have Eng S-OFF (engineering bootloader) to flash radios in the standard way, do you have that yet? If not, jkoljo's tool for that is the best way, it has loads of fail-safes built in to make sure it works correctly.
To answer your questions, you can ignore the provider name (e.g. Orange, Cingular) - that just means the radio was released specifically for that carrier, but it often works well with other networks. For example the best radio for me on Froyo was the Cingular one, but I'm on Vodafone in the UK.
It's hard to tell you the best radio, as it depends on your network, location, etc. - for example one radio might use more power, and use more battery in areas with good signal strength (e.g. cities), but it would work better in areas with a poor signal. This is why some people flash different radios to test them.
It can also depend on which ROM you're planning to use. Gingerbread ROMs are generally built to work with the 28th April official radio, so I would suggest starting with that if you're on a GB ROM.
By the way, the key bit of the radio name that identifies it is the part after the underscore character "_", so for the
Radio_12.54.60.25_26.09.04.11_M2 - HTC Ace Gingerbread S 2.36.405.5
radio you can refer to it as the "26.09.04.11_M2" radio.
If you're on a Froyo ROM, I would start off with the 26.04.02.17_M2_SF radio Drakknar recommends. If you're on a Gingerbread ROM, I would start with 26.09.04.11_M2. If it works fine, you're done. Unless you're like some of us, obsessively searching for something just slightly better.
Just don't forget that if you flash a radio other than the one recommended for the ROM, you should also flash the matching RIL file. The radio thread has a link to the RIL thread. The RIL for the ROM's recommended radio will already be included in it, though.
Anyone else reading this should feel free to jump if they have any differing advice!
I already have ENG S-OFF and I am using a Gingerbread ROM more specifically TRUE SENSE 3.0 - i00 ROM 5.5 (Since Android version that my device reports is 2.3.3)
But I have some issues with creating and renaming folders on the Home screen, and I cannot report it as bug because I do not have the required posts
Anyway Thanks again for the quick and detailed answer!

Ah, that ROM does recommend the 26.04.02.17_M2_SF radio, I see what you mean, I assume they have included the relevant RILs so I would start off with that one. It certainly performed very well for a lot of people, despite being an older radio.
Good luck with your homescreen bug.

[Q] How do I root my DHD? (2.50.45.2)

Hey, I´ve used the search tool, but couldn´t find anything.
I would like to Root my HTC Desire HD, so I can Install the new Android Revolution 6.x (Android 2.3.5 with Sense 3.0 )
My Phone is currently running:
Android 2.3.3
Sense 2.1
Baseband Version 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
Kernel Version 2.6.35.10
Build Number 2.50.405.2
Software Number 2.50.405.2
My Phone has no branding!
Is rooting possible for me?
Can Someone please help me?
I am totaly new to rooting, so I would appreciate a step by step tutorial.
That makes two of looking for the same information, any help out there please
YES rooting is possible.
I rooted my Dhd about two weeks ago and all went well.
I spent about a week reading lots of different sites. All using different methods in the end I used a guide on driphter.com
Forum > Everything Android > HTC Desire HD/Inspire 4G > General Discussion > [GUIDE] Downgrade, Root, Radio & Eng S-OFF DHD/Inspire 4G in 9 Steps
if your unbranded you can skip the goldcard step.
i also had to download the PD98IMG using my phone and move it to the root (not in any folder) of the sd card using astro
the only other step i changed was to install visionary+ from blackmart alpha (google it. Its a blackmarket market) the install from the toolkit didn't work for me.
JSL is very good/quick to answer questions on that fourm.
Hope this helps.

If this has been posted already a BIGGG SORRY, just could not find a definative answer...
I notice cm-7.2.0.1-bravo.zip is availabile for download for the Desire GSM. On Cyanogenmods site it says "Must use the latest radio" for v 7.1.
Does this apply to this 7.2.0.1 version too ???????????????

If you are already running CyanogenMod7 then you do not need to mess with the radio unless you find issues with your signal. I've been using the same radio since I've upgraded to Gingerbread.
Now if you are still in Froyo rom and moving up to Gingerbread by going to CM7 then updating the radio is required.
i am on latest radio 5.17.05.23. would recommend this or the previous 5.17.05.08 Just to make sure the ROM and hardware works together.
I'ts not difficult to flash radio - and not that risky.
