[Q] Cleared data in Swype, and now its gone. How to get it back? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I wanted to reset the dictionary because of a few typos that were messing me up. I cleared the data under Settings > Applications and now Swype is gone from my keyboard options altogether. It's still available under keyboard settings, but I can't select it in any typing app. How would I get it back? Thanks.

Long press anywhere that you can type, wait for it to say "input method", then you should be able to select swype.

That's the thing, Select Input Method doesn't have the Swype option anymore. The only thing there now is Android Keyboard.

Did you turn it back on?

How do I turn it back on is my question?

There is no shortcut for the app any longer, though I can't recall if there was one before. In keyboard settings swype is turned on, but it doesn't show up under input options or while typing.

I would just run a reinstall if that's the case.

Try rebooting your phone... maybe it will bring it back to life by undoing your changes...

Reboot didn't help. How do I reinstall it on the g2?
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

maybe you can try the factory reset button. that might reload that program for you.

Bummer, dude. Factory reset.

I know on my Nexus I had to uninstall the app and redownload it via the swype installer...
However I'm not sure about this on the G2 since its a built in app.

So I ended up doing a factory reset and had to reinstall my apps. Inconvenient to say the least. Don't clear any data on preinstalled apps I guess!

Launcher default issues

This started happening to me out of no where. Can anyone think of a solution or the cause of this issue ?
Everytime I hit the home key it will ask me to choose a default launcher. After I do, it will ask me again every time I hit my home key.
Im choosing Touchwiz, the other option is Go home since it comes with my rom.
I'm running Calkulins 2.9.2 rom.
I have uninstalled apps related to Widgets and launchers, cleared defaults etc..
How could I uninstall the go home app completely? Maybe that will do it.
Thanks in advance everyone !

First, you are checking the default checkbox before you select the launcher after pressing home right?
Yes. lol
I could only wish it was that simple.
Its not really a big deal but after a while its annoying having to push an additional button.

Well, just use root explorer or something to delete the application, or just use like titanium backup and un install it that way

[Q] Disabling T-Mobile My Device?

Hey guys! I use the T-Mobile My Account app to pay my bill from my phone, its pretty convenient. However, it comes bundled with a little sub app, My Device, and My Device is annoying as hell. It will tell me when my battery is low, every time I restart my phone, it asks if my issues have been resolved, etc.
I can't figure out which file to freeze in Titanium Backup. Anyone know how to shut My Device down?
You can disable the notifications in the programs options.

any way to get rid of clear defaults message?

every time i click a link in youtube it pops up with the message
clear defaults
clear default app settings by going to settings, applications, manager, all
even if i tell it to open with the youtube or internet app by default and select every time it asks me this same question every single time.
is there any way to stop this from happening? obviously, it is a touchwiz thing because its never happeend on any other devcie i've owned. so annoying.
It was on my nexus too..Obviously not running touchwiz.. seems to almost be a bug with the note. When you select to use that app every time, i would think it shouldn't come back up. .I've noticed it too

Keyboard Spasms

Lately my keyboard has had a mind of it own. Every time I type something I lose touch control and my phone starts to use the swype like feature on its own. I might sound crazy but this is really annoying, any ideas on how to fix it?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
My keyboard seems to jump to the beginning of the line sometimes while I'm typing (like pressing the "home" button on a PC). I'm going to try swapping keyboards for a few days and see if that helps. After that, maybe a cache wipe is in order...after that, I'll keep an eye out for an LG rep haha!
Will post results.

Google Now settings issue

I was wondering if anybody knew the cause or solution to this issue. I am trying to get to the settings. I press menu but it pops up and then it blinks off the screen so fast I can't even read it. I am rooted using ACE 4.6.1 with Splash v7 update 5 installed. I have removed Google search 2.3.xx and downloaded it from the market again and I still have the same issue.
Its an issue with tw phones I believe. I read multiple are having the same thing in the google now play store spot.
Im having it too.
Most likely they are working on it

I see you are on a custom ROM so this will not help you unless you can get a hold of the stock Google Search apk. I am on stock and uninstalled the updates for Google Search now all is well.
Google now
I don't think that's the case. I am using note 1 and have the issue. Using stock rom
Type A letter into the search bar. Press menu and go to settings. Go to voice. Disable hot word detection. Problem solved.
All you do is go to the voice app instead and hit settings promblem solved
