New G2 specific tones? - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

Does the G2 have new tones (rings, notifications, alarms) than generic Android/Nexus One?
if it does, can someone rip it and post? Thanks.

As far as I can tell, all the ring tones we have on the vision are old news. I've gone through them and didn't notice anything new...

No i dint believe u can have that same tone set for msgs and txt, etc
*This was posted from my Evo 4G*
Yes it is possible you need to download ringo pro and you can set custom ringtones for caller, text, voicemail but not individual email

I would have thought different
Maybe tboneheath knows something I do not. I don't know how to add ring tones/sounds to your current list of choices. I assumed it would be that easy, but I may be wrong. I have not tried it yet because I am to busy applying roms.

Thank you very much that will help

Notifications Question

Quick question: is it possible to add custom sounds to stock notification panel? By that I mean add a song to the alarm choices... I know how to do this on my X but I'm asking for a friend who is a Evo user TIA

I'm looking through my system directories right now to figure out where these sound files are located. If I can find them, I bet we can replace them.
EDIT: One easy way is to just drag your MP3 of choice to /media/audio/notifications on your SD card. It will show up in the list of sounds for notifications, so you can set a custom text message or email sound. Still working on the alarm.
EDIT 2: From another thread:

Trying it now.
EDIT 3: Yup, that did it. Just make a new folder called "alarms" on your SD card under /media/audio and put your MP3 in there. Thanks, I had been wondering about this as well.
Thanks you fckin RAWK just KNEW I was gonna get flamed for this post on the DROID devices it's pretty simple to add sounds but, I have no knowledge of Evo but wanna help a bigger "n00b" than me if I can

Just to cover my bases, check my edited post above, it does work.
That's how it's done on DROID basically... So it adds to alarms also on Evo?

Yes, I put a new MP3 in my new "alarms" folder and it showed up in my alarms options list for a new alarm. I also put one in "notifications" and was able to set it as my default notification sound (texts, voicemail, email, etc). But they are independent of each other - having an MP3 in "notifications" does not put it in the alarms menu.

Is this HTC Super Caller ID?

Is the what is referred to as HTC Super Caller ID or a different program?

If this isn't the right one talked about in the Froyo update then can someone point me in the right direction please
Thanks all!
That's not it. Essentially it shows the latest status update from Facebook and the birthday of the person calling. It's a gimmick.
so is this something that is built in to the new 2.2 android update or is it a seperate app that you have to install for this information to be displayed?
It's built into HTC's Sense UI with Froyo, yeah.
Not working on my phone for some reason.

When someone calls you, assuming you've linked their account in your contacts then it should just pop-up.

Yeah their picture pops ip but their status and birthday doesn't, am I missing a setting somewhere maybe?
I'm interested in this as well as I have the same features as 2.1 when receiving a call.

What are you guys going on about? This is an app called super caller id, it has nothing to do with htc, its a 3rd party app that shows the callers address and other info on the dialers incoming call screen, it only works in a handfull of contries atm tho

HTC Keyboard Question

I have rooted stock 2.2 (.6) The keyboard has no mic like what was available on 2.1. The mic used to let you convert voice to text while in email or sms.
Is this functionality gone, which I doubt, or is there something I need to do to enable it?
Bump

Search HTC IME Mod and follow the instructions. Should give you the old keyboard with voice option, plus a bunch of other added options.
I thought I heard they were going to get rid of censorship in the froyo speach to text.
I want to cuss at my friends threw txt dangit!!!!!
especially using swype.

Ringtones

So I haven't needed to find a ringtone for a phone in a long time. Typically I can find one I like but all of the ringtones on this phone make me embarrassed to have ring in public. Any suggestions on sites or apps for some standard ringtones?
I like zedge in the market. Its got alot of different ringtones, notification tones and wallpapers. You should be able to find something thats not embarrassing.lol There really are some ****ty ringtones on this phone.

Try soundjax.com and search for something you like
I'd recommend ringdroid to create your own from songs you like, or any other sound file
+1 for zedge
