1800mah eBay Battery Test - EVO 4G Accessories

So, with all the chatter about crappy batteries on eBay, I figured I would try some and give them a half way decent testing. This was far from scientific, but I didn't feel like putting any more energy into it, and I don't have the equipment to test them otherwise.
I got THESE mostly because the seller is in the states, so it wont take 94 days to get my stuff. Also cause they're red, which makes them 146% less likely to suck. Note: I offered the guy $20 plus shipping, and he accepted that evening.
Before testing, I gave the new battery a 100% charge, then full discharge, and full charge again. I wiped battery stats, then rebooted and began the test. I did the exact same for the stock battery, but it may have a disadvantage, as it is a few weeks old. Maybe I'll test again in a while, if I get bored enough. For this test, I ran the Evo OC'd to 1228 on performance profile, set screen to full brightness and to never time out, streamed Pandora, and continuously downloaded from Dropbox. Running VaelPak 2.2 with Kingx #11 kernel. There were some variables to this, as I did use the phone during these hours, some calls, texts, browsing xda, etc. I tried to keep my use similar between the two tests, hopefully I did.
Well, how bout some pictures and results, eh. Stock 1500mah HTC battery first. Time from 100% to 10% was 107 minutes, time to shutoff was 123 minutes. You'll have to excuse the time since boot count, as I forgot that I had a SetCPU profile set to drastically under clock when the battery gets low, which caused the phone to freeze up since it was doing too much at once.

And the 1800mah eBay special. Time from 100% to 10% was 139 minutes, time to shutoff was 145 minutes. Not sure what to make of this battery running through the last 10% so quickly, but oh well. Would be nice if this went away as time goes on, but I won't really be running it down that low normally anyway.
To conclude, I guess I didn't get screwed on these. Based on my non-scientific test, these batteries last about 18% longer. Which is pretty much what you would expect from a 20% larger battery. The biggest thing for me is that they fit with the stock battery cover so I can continue to use my Otterbox and car mount. Now, this was only one test, time will tell if they are really any good. I don't feel like working at testing any more then this, so I'll be happily oblivious to any degradation from these cheap batteries.

just got one of these cause i feel like my battery is defected or something so ill check this out extremely fast ordered saturday recieved today monday

thanks for the feedback on the higher rated batteries. I don't think the ebay batteries are crappy at all though. They work just as well as the stock battery for me. Had one go through the wash without any damage.

I've been using these red batteries since July. They definitely last longer than the stock HTC battery, and have not yet deteriorated in performance.

well hopefully mines gonna do good. charged it and its already down to 94% in 30 mins and dropped 5% almost immediatly after i took it off the wall charger then put it into the phone. but after that its only gone down 1% so 94% battery in 30 mins :/ running myns 2.2 with battery tweak

It will do that until you fully charge it a couple times and wipe battery stats, if you have amon ra recovery anyway.
Hey... I think this thing makes phone calls too!

ive been using the same batteries too for about a week i think they are well worth the price. definetly last longer than stock red HTC batt.

Well my offer of $20 was declined. Not sure how long i want to wait to pick this up.

battery is by far way better then the original from what i can tell but havent done any significant testing

I would like to have 1, but I don't need 2. Wish I could find someone to go in halves w/ me. Preferably someone local to Nashville, TN. Any takers??

Well I got two of them from his regular web site. We will see how they work out.

Ill go in half with you (not sure how, though?), but I live in the Nashville area.

I got the 2 battery package with charger on eBay for $26 via "make an offer". I just scrolled through the feedbacks to see the lowest price they accepted... Charging now.

I just grabbed one of these batteries and the wall dock and I'm getting roughly 18-20% better battery life, good stuff for the money and no issues thus far.

Anybody want to lend one to the batteryboss.org guy for some scientific testing? If not, I may see if I can get 2 for $25 and send one in.

Well, if you don't have these batteries already, the value ship has sailed. Seller got greedy. They are now $60 for 2 batteries and charger on ebay, and $100 on Amazon.

It's definitely a 3500mah battery. Just an typo I'd assume.
The back is thicker than the phone.. no thanks I will just continue to carry a spare battery.
These kind of batteries suck. If you need a decent backup just get an external battery. You can get an 8900mAh external that will last you more then you need. I always use mine when going on hiking or longer trips.. Generally where you would have a backpack of some smaller stuff. You do not need something like this for a days worth of common use.
I had one of those for my hero, get a big boost in life,. I went a three days without charge
What the hell is the point? I am getting nearly 20 hours of life out of my stock battery with two days of business use, and wifi. That looks awful as well.

You must not really use your phone like I do. Started at 8 today and its now 11 and im down to half battery even with overclock widget clocking it to 200Mhz when the screen is off
I bought one of these when the g1 came out and it gave me about 2 days off the charger. But im not sure how well this is gonna work with this phone. I really want to know how it worked with people who bought the smaller battery
If you dropped down that much you need to check your syncs and what using data. Is your phone set to cdma? I'm at 87% with 5 hours off the charger. Might as well solve whatever is eating up your battery first.

I take my phone off the charger around 6 every mourning and I don't lose the first bar till 1030 or so.that's with lots of text, internet, and some phone calls. Not a complaint here
I remember everyone was talking all this hype about the extended Seidio battery for the Mogul... I bought one... and was completely unsatisfied, I sent it back in, the mfg, acted surprised and sent me another one.. .Honestly even the replacement was exactly the same.. The Stock OEM battery lasted longer, and was more reliable.
Unless something has changed with Seidio since then, (which I highly doubt) I won't be "upgrading" my battery -
- I'm with the other member, I'de be more inclined to get some kinda external battery, or something. Too bad the USB connection changed on this new EVO 4g.. cuz my IOGEAR AA battery emergency charger is SICK! hmm.,.. actually i'm going to look for a USB converter, so that I can keep this iogear around.
Woah! I've been waiting to finally see the design on this as I've owned Seidio extended batteries in the past on other devices. The design on that back is a definite no go for me. It's horrific! I just can't F'up a rather well designed device with that hunchback. No way!
will people start complaining when they want 3 days of batter life? And do you guys not go home at night or day or evening (depending on when you work) to charge your phones? my phone with heavy use last about 8to9 hours.. and light to no use 20hrs.. i charge it every night..
i have the same battery used for the hero from seidio, so i hope they give the option to purchase just the back battery door. If not, i will have to wait for nakedcellphone from ebay to get his Mugen extended battery line (which have very decent door designs) and he sells em separate.
No need to drop 60 again, right?
had one for my htc diamond.. ive been checking the site everyday for that.. the back is bulky because of the battery size but like whoever stated.. you can go nearly three days without a charge depending on use.. i love those batteries
Wow. I guess it works for some. Personally I keep a micro usb cable at my desk at work. That + car charger and I'm never far from a source to charge my phone

Extended Battery Review

Hey everyone.
I purchased an extended battery for my Vibrant and I've been running it for a few weeks now. I thought I'd pass on my experience for anyone on edge about getting one.
I got it on eBay for somewhere around $16 or so. It's a 2800mAh battery.
I love this thing. I had a rubber case (from T-Mobile) on my phone when I was running the stock battery so my phone was already a little thick. Going to a larger battery backplate wasn't too big of a jump for me but I definitely could tell the difference in the phone, especially when using it in landscape mode.
The BEST part about this phone now is not having to worry about my phone dying in the the middle of the day. I can finally leave the GPS and WiFi on all day and not have to worry about running out of juice before the day is up. I've run both stock and custom ROMs (Fusion, Nero, Axura, etc) and in all cases I have about 50% battery left at the end of the day. I text and email ALL day long. I let it run once to see how long it would go and plugged it in after 28 hours or so, with 10-15% left to go.
I attached a few pictures. Hopefully this will give you an idea of the increase in size.
I hope this helps.
Enjoy!

if that is true its sold for me !
I love my extended battery and have been using it for a couple months. Screen at brightest setting, 3g on all day, stream music for 4~5 hrs etc. the pics make it look huge, but its not that bad. Its as thick as a lighter. Extended batteries are the first thing im buying when I upgrade.

I'd get one but I love my Otterbox way too much. In an ideal world they would make good cases to accomodate these.
Yeah, that's one of the only drawbacks. I really liked using my case which obviously I can't use any more.
On a side note: after I took the pictures and posted yesterday, I thought I'd throw my stock battery in to see how it held up against the Axura ROM I'm using now. I charged it to full and unplugged it around 2:00pm. By 11, so roughly 9 hours later with very light use, I was at 35%. Needless to say I much prefer my 20 hour runs on a daily basis... with 40% batter left.
So to recap..... I LOVE my extended battery!!
Can you link the battery you bought off of ebay or provide the sellers name?

I bought this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170570526562&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT
I am loving it so far. Usually when I get outta of school (8:00 AM -3:30 PM) I would have about 75%. With the new extended battery, I am at 90%.
(PeperKake 3.52 btw)
Turn on 2g, and use wifi calling, and the stock battery will last 3x as long. Do that with this battery, and should get a few days time out of it.
I use to barely make the day on a charge but since 2.2 came out I can go 36 hours on a charge with the stock battery and Juice Defender.
I am not streaming music and watching videos all day but I have been rally impressed with the battery use lately.

damn, your phone must just be sitting in a drawer then
Lol.....no...there is a problem with the phone reading the actual charge state of the battery. How it is fixed sounds crazier than 60 hrs unplugged. You just charge your phone for 8 to 10 hrs on..then charge for 2 hrs off...then back on for another two hrs or so....and bam! You may have to repeat this once a month to hold up the charge but it works.....look it up i may have left out a step though!

Doesn't that method wear out the battery a lot faster then normal charge methods?
Man i am not sure..HTC sent out the process to their customers...they of course did not say that but they were trying to shut up some angry customers!!

I will say that they said if you do this and your battery life doesn't double as did mine then you should replace your battery.

http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/1...bump-charging-and-inconsistent-battery-drain/
The method you were saying sounds exactly like bumping the battery, which result in wearing out the battery faster.
Since I already get superb battery life, I have no reason to bump the battery. I was just warning others who might do it.
I got that same battery in december after seeing another member post about it.
It actually works well and last all day (and only one day) on an oc'ed dragon kernal with heavy use or not.
The case is somewhat thin though and when I shake it, the battery seems to wobble around, but the phone doesn't loose power or anything like that.
Was worth it at 15 bucks including shipping.
lol, that backplate reminds me of these phones:
how long does it take to charge the beast with this battery ?
Not to threadjack. OP, thank you for posting that review.
I also got myself a 3000mah extended battery. It came with a new backplate as well.
After 15-18 hours of use, I'm left with 55-65% battery life in the tank. That's a substantial gain for me. Needless to say, I can use the phone for 30-48 hours (conceivably).
Longest I had it going before it died was 38, which, still ain't bad.
I know the horror stories about extended batteries and whatnot. I purchased it from a brick and mortor store, so if anything went down, like it exploded, I knew who's door to know.
I'll pass it along to you guys too. They are good people. I'd recommend it, but the choice is up to you.

I just posted a thread about these actually, I highly recommend, amazing batteries.
I've been using one of these (bought the 2 pack with charger) for roughly 6 months, and have been very pleased with it.
I can't confidently say that it is much better than a NEW stock battery, but considering my stock battery was over a year old, the Anker definitely improved my battery life, vs the stock old one.
I was hesitant about buying a non OEM battery, but I'm very pleased with mine, and for the cost was well worth it.
I have to +1 these being amazing batteries. Got mine for $13.99 on ebay with a desktop charger. I have gotten 24+ hours out of one charge. Highly recommend it!

Got it in today!!
The charger is interesting, it should fit just about any battery as the prongs will slide left and right, where ever the + and - is on the battery. Then also the bottom part that holds the battery is on a spring and you just pull down the length of the battery.
It charged one of the to 89% pretty fast, probably an hour. Had to take it off for a emergency call.
Ill be able to give a better test soon. I need a fresh flash of CM7 anyways, too much bog and FC's. Probably not good when the main process FC's.
I am still running the same battery that I took off the charger when I made that post. I am at 1 day and 3 hours with 30% left. I haven't really been making any calls, just some txts, most of it was me playing around and flashing different things to make my ICS experience better, using drew's P7. The battery went down fast from 89% till about 60%, but the other battery I got took about double the time to fully charger than with how long this battery has been in my phone. I am excited so far, looks very promising. I think this was a worthwhile purchase, simply for the wall charger, to charge any phone battery!
I'm getting pretty great results with these batteries. I haven't been using my phone too much and lots of idle time. I took a fresh battery off at midnight and went right to sleep. I slept most of the day. When I got up it was at 81 I think after 14 hours. I used my phone here and there for some texts and some small phone calls. I started installing lots of apps and played around with Widgets and settings, it popped down to 59 around that time. I installed juice defender also and I think it only went down a few notches all night till the morning. I haven't done much today besides a couple dozen texts a short and then 20 min call. I'm updating a bunch of apps right now while typing this, its lagging a bit so its slow and took me a few min and lost 1% but I'm also updating 11 apps at once
I am running drews P7, I have been running unvisible tweaks, but I just installed the nifty tweak zip and popped in a fresh battery, so this may be even better battery life now that I got juicedefender and the nifty tweaks. Cant wait to see! Im also thinking about running one of the KANG CM7 roms, as I already got about this with stock battery, I think it could last 3 days if I went back to CM7. God, I can't wait for CM9 and custom kernels!!
Here is what my current up time is.

Post some results.
Is the 2300 a Galaxy S II battery? That's what I'm seeing in some goog searches. Looks like their replacement for ours is 1850. But if it fits, hey.
Lucky you, i had to stick a piece of paper on the top left of my battery pocket in my phone in order for the contacts to align.
There's actually a thread about this battery here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445938
So far I'm getting a little over 24 hours with little-moderate use on ICS passion.
In the wide majority of test I've seen of Andida batteries, they always add somewhere between 30-50% of their actual capacity. In short, just about every third party manufacturer overrates their batteries and only the OEM numbers are accurate

Apparently some people can't get the contacts to line up correctly and the battery doesn't work out for them.. so it might be a gamble for you.
1800/1500 = 20% increase
2300/1500 = 53% increase
I'm pleased with the batteries performance and understanding of the issues related to fitment. For $20...it was well worth it to me. My phone can stay away from the charger throughout the day.

I understand on paper it should be a 53% increase compared to the stock battery, but is it showing a 50% in reality? I know samsung batteries are legit and should be close to the labeled mah rating. I don't know a thing about andida. I just don't to end up with a battery that might not even fit and is only really putting out like 1900mah.
This is a huge improvement for me. My phone used to be dead after 10 hours unplugged.
Another oddity since putting in this battery, my GPS started to work and lock on again... maybe the pressure it puts onto the phone helped the contact...weird positive side effect for me (I've not bothered to do the GPS contact fixes yet)
Sorry I don't have the fancy Battery stats screens that others seem to have :\
My 2300 andida is running about 14 hours as well. I can get through most of the day without thinking about my charger.
I'm on ics one comsics rc3.1 and I get more than 36 hours on light use, more than 24 hours on moderate use and like eight hours on real heavy use. My heavy usage usually involved full account sync and surfing the web on the mobile network non stop with screen on 75-90% of the time.

i'm on passion, i might have to try out one cosmics if battery life is that great..
Even of the contacts don't fit, you can put paper on the top left corner of the battery socket. And somehow, the battery doesnt need the paper later on. I think the battery gets "used" to the battery socket...

May not be necessary, some videos are reporting superb battery life. Easily one day with mid to heavy usage, and some reported it lasted 2 days w/light usage.
I hope so, this phone looks like a beast!

You're probably right, most mfgs have stepped up their game to ensure that we can get at least one "typical" days of use out of our phones before the need to recharge arises.
However,it's nice to simply swap out batteries when getting home from work/etc..... & doing the same when the next (work) day starts anew.
I prefer this vs leaving a phone on a charger, keeping that charging-generated heat away from the phone entirely.
i hope it comes with it, i loved my V10, but it ate batteries. Having a spare was practically a necessity
can I use my v10 battery charger to charge the V20 battery?

Personally, I wouldn't advise that.
V20 is available on Verizon today,I was hoping there would be a battery give away

I can't imagine they'd be the same physical size since v10 is 3000 and v20 is 3200.
(hmmm I automatically assumed you meant the spare battery charger case that came with the v10 extra batteries. If you mean wall charger then... Hmmm dunno lol)

Thanks for the link KOLIOSIS!
yes I was referring to the spare battery case. I'd rather not buy a new one, if my OLD one, worked okay.
The batteries are different widths, but I could just take the door off.
just being cheap...guess I'll buy the NEW set.
I picked one of these up today, battery life wasn't lasting all day like I hoped but its a feature packed phone with a big a$$ screen and I can't put it down. Hate to have to tether it to a wall for charging plus the couple days of sitting in an airport coming up will make this back up battery well worth it.
I got 9 hours with 4.5 hours of talk time, and 4 hours of screen on time. I am happy with that result. I can see on the days I don't have a lot of phone/conference calls I can see the phone going 16+ hours and possibly 6 hours of SOT.
I will more than likely be buying on of these just for my busy days as a backup.
I'm curios why ebay is the only place to get these batteries.

i believe since the phone wasn't supposed to be released until the 28th here in the U.S., we won't see official lgusa accessories until sometime around then.

ebay is not the only place, many other places are available.
$59.75 after shipping? No thanks. Wait till lg comes out with it and hope for some deals. So I can buy like a 6 pack. Getting phones with swappable batteries these days is rare. And having a few extra if you plan on keeping more than 1-2 years or selling after a year or two really helps resale value so next person has a couple fresh batteries for their "new" toy. Might buy some more gnote4 batteries while I can. I have 3 new ones left and I just popped this one in about 3 months ago.
Can't wait until these are more readily available and at a much more reasonable price. Will be so nice to go back to the time when I could just pop a new battery in and not have to worry about charging my phone for days at a time.

Even if it lasted all day with heavy usage, I'd still use the user changeable battery pretty often. I swap when I am in the field, on loooong bike rides, on vacation, or after I leave work and just don't want to sit waiting for the thing to charge. I'm so happy LG kept this feature.
I'm really happy people are reporting good battery life though.
Batts are back on Amazon. 59.99 is a bit steep in my opinion, I don't need one that bad yet!!
