New startup animation - Touch Pro, Fuze Android Development

I know it doesn't do much for your build and it doesn't increase your battery life, but i'm working on an upgraded version for the neopeek startup animation. Should be ready soon!

i dont think you needed to create a new thread for this. You could of easily PM neopeek or post within his thread.
On that note i'm going to close this thread.

Difference between ROM's

Hello,
because for a noob like me, it's very difficult to see the differences between ROM's, I want some hints and advice for this.
I noticed the ROM of Shady and the ROM of Emrulez. For me the difference is not clear.
Can someone compare those ROM's please?
Also the word kitchen isn't clear .... :$
There is no differences. You should say Kudos to Microsoft for these ROMs and their effort. The cookers here only add and delete programs using kitchen.
thats my question, whats the difference.
nobody?:s ...
Yes it is a good question.
I am trying to figure it out myself.
At the moment, only thing that I am certain about, is that build number is different
is there any difference about battery drain ?
well the build number is like an update of the windows, higher build >>more recent release.
and roms differs with stability, free ram, storage, bugs, addons
that's why every1 r keep trying till he got the rom he like.
and about the battery drain,, they r differs too, since some have a UI interface which drains battery and other background processes assuming they use the same radio version since the radio version is one of the important things with battery drains.
to build a rom u need to build a kitchen with by it u can do it... there some ppl who like to share their kitchens to make any1 can modify the rom with his needs.. but to do that u have to know a few things
hope this helped
maybe it's a good idea if someone (I? ) creates a new topic with a Rom-overview?
The first message will show all the ROMS with the following info:
Date of last update
Windows version, build number
Programs added
Programs deleted
Free Memory
Bugs
Link to the topic
...?
Based on that message, users can choose their favorite ROM. I do not want to make a competition of this, only make it user friendly to choose.

Hello thanks for your information. So there is no general kitchen which i can use to modify the ROMs? has every ROM it own kitchen? And I wonder where the people always get the new OS versions since I never seen you can download them at Microsoft or so....
@ babbelut
well yes i think cud be so helpful too , but i think it's too hard specially when a lot of roms r being created !!
@ TalhaX
well ya there is no a general kitchen, each cooker has his own kitchens some share it as u can find.
u can build ur own kitchen or use one of these kitchens,,, couple of days ago a saw a kitchen called superjustkitchen i think this may help u.. i don't know about these stuff. and where from they came with these builds but u can search here,,, and if r planning to do this make sure of what u r doing
I've made a wikipage:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=XDA_ROMS
Please feel free to contact me or add some ROMS !!
It's not so wise to make such a page. ROM i for specific device and will not work on other.
Here is a page for Artemis
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Artemis
and you should make your subpage there.
I use xdadevelopers many years and it's sad that everyone works alone on ROMs. There are only a few people owning each model and doing their own kitchen/ROMs. They should work together to make one, best kitchen, and set of quality ROMs.
Now we have for example SHADY's kitchen which is probably very good, but ROMs have many bugs. And there is nobody who can fix them, because Shady don't have time, and others fix their own ROMs. And now we have new build and new kitchen and new ROM and new bugs. Yes, they are the newest, have all bells & whistles, but are useless because of bugs
I'm looking to replace my Touch ROM, which were very good, but author has abandoned it.
it is a subpage of artemis, not?

How do I add fonts to system.sqsh ?

Hey all,
I put the 02.02.10 build on my sdcard, and it booted perfectly. I still had a problem reading SMS in my native language because there is no out-of-the-box support for my language.
On many threads that I found, people said they added few fonts to system.sqsh, I tried to use it as everyone explained( with squashfs-tools 3.1 because version 4 doesn't work with android ), but I'm stuck on the second boot screen( the nexus splash screen), it loops forever( gave it 25 minutes before I tried a second attempt).
I backed up the old system.sqsh so I can have a working android, but I need to find a way to add these fonts.
Thanks.
Please use the sticky 'General Android Questions' please

Update notification (for new releases)

Hi folks
there are a lot of software developers which release their software in the specific forum, for example "Windows Mobile Software Development".
Normally all do it the same way: the first post contains the latest software version, and then the disucussion is ongoing.
when a new version is coming, the author is editing the first post with the release notes and the new link. then the discussion continues at the end of the thread for the new version.
As a user of some tools, I want to know when a new version is released.
The problem is that I did not found a way to get a notification for this.
A subscription to the thread for new posts is not helping. It needs something like 'subscription for editing the first post'.
It would be great to have a such feature here.

Wifi Issue on Neopeek - My Fix

I had posted this fix somewhere in the neopeek thread, but I think it got kidna lost so I wanted to post it in a new thread so people could easily find it.
On the neopeek builds, I noticed that wifi does not work for Rhodium even though someone keeps saying it is fixed. below is the fix I use every time I redo my rom which seems to work for every neopeek build. I am not sure if it is the "proper" thing to do to resolve the problem, but it seems to work for me. Those of you having wifi issues, please try and let me know if it works for you too.
1. Within linux (I use ubuntu) I mount my sd card
2. using a terminal I navigate to /SDCardMountPath/system
3. I run "sudo vi build.prop"
4. Next I find the line that says "wifi.interface" and change the value to eth0 so it should read "wifi.interface=eth0"
5. perfrom :wq!
6. Boot Haret.exe
** NOTE **
You cannot do this within android, when you reboot it will be reset to what it was before, you HAVE to do this within linux on your mounted SD card
wifi has been working for the last couple weeks on his builds..i think you were a little too late to figure that out

LOL +1. Also, why did you feel the need to create a new thread for this? Resist the urge to hit that new thread button!
Not on my device, (Rhod100) Even though everyone said it was working for them it was not working for me for some reason, and I have the latest test superfroyo build (was previously using the stable cm6 build)
I dont know why it was not working on my device but this fixed it every time so I thought i would share.
@arrrghhh - If you read my original post I stated exactly why I made a new thread. - Resist the urge to flame before actually reading.
Thank you RickoT! I have on the latest release (=Barebone) changed some thing sregarding init + build.prop! So on the Barebone it should also be fixed for you. Try it out and let me knwo if you have time! Otherwise RickoT provided a very useful info for Rhodium users due to the fact that right now atm not all builds include my changes from Barebone Release. So if WiFi is not working for you in any old build than you can fix it as stated by RickoT
FINALLY!! I thought everybody forgot about us unlucky Rhodium users! how exactly do i do this? on my comp and then put it on thereor with ubuntu on the phone? sorry, i'm a noob of sorts

If you're fixing something for a Neopeek build, it would make a heckuva lot more sense to put it in that thread...
Oh, and I only flame AFTER I read. I don't flame before I read, that would just be silly.

rom version related posts

When a developer publishes a new rom version,
all of the rom's forum titles are changed to the new title.
if I want to read/post concerning a specific version -
it takes ages to find the right place for it.
why not announce the new version in the OP but leave the old titles as they are ?
anybody feels the same ?
The only thing that generally changes in the title is the latest release date. It helps when people are choosing which rom they want. I personally wouldn't have it any other way and it is pretty typical format.
hey guys maybe wring forum but please direct me to the right one? i am after a ics rom that i can flash onto my samsung galaxy s2 4g GT-I9210T
Wrong thread but that's OK. Check out development here:
