ORB

Hi Guys,
Just downloaded and installed ORB. Brilliant piece of software. Only problem being im not a techno whizz so im struggling a bit. Is the only way i can gain acces to my pc from my touch hd by using opera and opening up the orb site?
Thanks
Nichio
yes
You can ad to favorites www.mycast.orb.com
Then you don't have to type your password all the time.
It's indeed a great piece of software.
I'm streaming my satelite from home on it
Also music or movies(even vob files) he plays.
regards stef
Thanks Stef. I have already done that, just didnt know if any of the genius techies on here had came up with some kind of App if its possible.
Thanks Nichio
I am now looking into connecting my sky box to my. once i have done that would it be possible to stream that to my touch hd?
if it has an ethernet and it can stream ike my dreambox, then yes you can stream.
Open notpad and make an line with your sky box/drea,box ipadres like this 192.168.1.10/video.m3u and save it to anyname.mp4
The configure orb.
and add that mp4(video)file.
regards stef
Great Thanks.
I have another problem with orb now. i installed it and all was fine. How ever first time i tried to reboot my compter i am now missing a windows system config file. Anyway around this?
Nichio
I used Orb for a while but found it was caining my cpu randomly so had to remove it. I'm now using TVersity. The interface isn't as cool but when browsing from you mobile it's perfect cos you don't have to render loads of graphics etc. The only thing about TVersity is that you need to open ports on your router and use something like dyndns if you've not got a static wan ip.
What I liked the most was that you don't need to go through a third party website to access you stuff. I also use it to access music on my PC from my Wii.

NAS Mount Manager App

I've got a QNAP NAS that has a number of shares I would like to be able to mount these shares on my Nexus.
My Nexus is un-locked and rooted.
Can anyone recommend an app that will allow me mount these shares?
Thanks
What shares are you running on your NAS? I run Samba on my server at home... "AndSMB" is a nice app to manage them with.

They"re Samba shares.
I'll give Andsmb a go.
Thanks
Not sure if it's what you want, but I use ES File Explorer to access my QNAP NAS and their own Qmobile works on N7 but I had to side load it

I also have a Qnap, and my wife has her Nexus 7
X-plore (sorry, can't give link, it wont let me)
Works great, you can set up a connection in it to your servers IP address and password and browse the thing to death
Great easy way to get files to and from the device.

Astro File Manager with the SMB module.
I've used this previously and it is pretty good.

Send phot/video to TV (DLNA // Allshare)

Hi,
I have Samsung smart TV at home. My other Android device (Samsung Galaxy S3) is able to stream on demand to the TV with the Samsung app named Allshare. But that's a DLNA application and we have other DLNA apps for non-Samsung devices like Nexus 7.
For example, iMediaShare is a good DLNA server app. I can connect to my Nexus 7 from my TV, when I run DLNA app on the NExus 7.
However, I can't send photo or video to the TV on demand, as in the Samsung DLNA app (Allshare)
Is there a good DLNA app for Nexus 7 which could do what Samsung Allshare does ?
Thanks.
Maybe Skifta is what you are looking for

From what I read about skifta, I understand that it's not DLNA but uses a proprietary protocol, which works with only it's own server-client software. I need plain DLNA which works with TV's DLNA client.
Why dont you try twonky? Works fine for me

does it have the capability of pushing a file (photo for example) from the Android device to a DLNA player (TV) ?
You can try BubbleUPnP. It sets your tablet as a UPnP server.

skifta can do all you need i'm using it on my gnex and N7 and connect great with my samsung smart tv es8000 allshare app.
you can send photo/video/music to the tv from n7....(open skyfta, select ource N/, select player smart tv, then browse your file and tap on the desidered )
or if you want to act from tv: open skifta on your n7, it will trasform your android device into a multimedia server named 'skifta'; open all share on sammy tv and you will see 'skifta' server, select it, browse your n7 files and play it! very easy man
after skifta installation, in the 'share menu' of your N7 will appear the entry 'skyfta' you can use it to share from gallery, file browser etc
sorry, it's only in Italian, but you can easly see how skifta work

with bubble up connected to the tv thru wifi .. i can send video from my desktop pc wired to the same network. thru the tablet and output on the tv wireless.. it Just works... I do have custom kernel.. not sure if it has anything to do with it or not . Not tried it on stock.. I discovered this to work with my acer a500 . one day when i went to connect it i thought i had plugged in the cable watched a move then realized it was NOT Plugged in ..
SO im not sure how but it JUST WORKS. the all share does not really show where the connection is coming from.. Guess it would be in the settings but i have not really looked .
there is one called Via that also worked on my acer not installed it on the nexus

Just tried using bubble up on my vizio tv .. dlna..
it works just the same. The reason i was able to stream movies to my tv thru the tablet was . ES FILE Browser launched before hand with the network drive MOUNTED.. way Bubble up sees the files as local on the device .. pushing them to the tv is easy just browse the menu on the tv . it will show the mounted resource.. on my tv it shows /mnt/bonniespc/m/movies..
the files are on the network on bonnies pc on a seperate drive called m in a directory called movies.. On the pc we have the samsung media share server program running under windows 7 64 bit.. The M drive is a 2 tb seagate drive all of this is connected thru a 45.00 netgear router. with a dlink 8 port switch.. the pc in question is on a dedicated ip as it also host our website and ftp...
anyway GOOD LUCK GETTING it to work . it can happen ..
Thanks.
Skifta really worked for me.
It can detect the TV and push any file (photo/video) to it.

Live streaming and possible file sharing??

OK so this might be a tall order, I've been looking for a way to Stream to my nexus 7 and nexus5 from my laptop...I know about the apps out there but they don't quite do what I would like them to... Those apps allow me to access files on my laptop,...here's an example of what I want to do...run media on my PC...say powerpoint and have my mobile devices see the presentation....but have it controlled from my PC..bonus points if anyone can find a way for this to work on android and iOS..... thanks in advance for thinking about it.

I think you can use iDisplay for this, it makes the tablet a secondary monitor for the computer
Chrome remote desktop. It shows everything thats on laptop screen on tablet. It allows control from PC or tablet.
I use chrome remote desktop as suggested and it working very well. Kind helpful when monitoring my pc when i'm away from home.

Which File manager app is best for Android TV OS built into Sony TV?

Hi,
I'm looking for best File Manager app for Android on Sony TV. Preferably one that is not bloated and is not a resource hog.
Any recommendations/suggestions would be very appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
I use the x-plore app. Can browse my home network. Works for me.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.lonelycatgames.Xplore
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nextapp.fx
One more for X-plore, started using on old Symbian Nokia Phones!
Mixplorer works great for me. I use it on my phone too and can copy from phone to shield where the folders are shared.

I always use total commander. Many great plugins (LAN, cloud drivers, sftp, etc.). Can directly download from web without requiring Google Play.
Cheers,
