Some Google goodies for Froyo (Desk Clock, Genie Widget, Car Home, Music) - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

I have pulled some Google apps from the latest Cyanogen Mod and tried them on my SGS running Froyo (JP6). They are running fine, so I thought, I should share them with you!
Instructions:
- you can install them like normal apps (just open the apks)
- for car home you'll need to install both apks
- for the desk clock you'll probably also need the genie widget (for weather)
Bugs:
- the music tab in desk clock doesn't do anything (check the 2nd post)
Some pictures:
(BTW: I modified the first shortcut, as well as the 5th one you can choose whatever you want there)

OK, the stock music app is working, but you'll have to replace the galaxy s music app.
Instructions (with Root Explorer):
- Go to system/app and move Musicplayer.apk and MusicPlayer.odex to a backup folder (somewhere on you SD)(if it doesn't work, click the "Mount R/W" button at the top)
- copy Music.apk to system/app
- click and hold until the menu opens up, click permissions and change them to the following:
And that's it! Works now with the desk clock app (but you might want to reboot)!

It's working Thanks

All working great - excellent work!
Presumably to get the normal media player back youj ust do the opposite?

Yeah, just reverse the process.

loving the genie widget!
just a quick question, how did you get the background transparent?

here's a tutorial on how to make widget transparent http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=8450650&postcount=25

I didn't make any widgets transparent What you see is what you get The first pic is car mode the second desk clock

Thanks buddy.

Cannot download attachment on phone. Error: "The content is not supported on the phone".
Edit: Used Tapatalk to access the forum and then it is able to download properly. Trying to dl via the browser was a fail however.
Thanks for putting these in a single post.

yeah thanks for these

PERFECT!!
Thanks to orig poster.
As tony tiger would say, this is gggggrrrreeeat.
or something...
Very usefull applications.
I have also installed these along with the TouchwizGTG modified launcher which lets me rotate my home page, etc.
I also installed the replacement music.apk.
Icons are appearing a little smaller everywhere now and the music player appears......to have smaller buttons etc....
Much faster though than my stock JPM touchwizza.

look nice .

What you see is what you get?
For some reason the weather gadget isn't transparent on my device.

Instead of DeskClok I recommend Alarm Clock V2:
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.vp.alarmClockPlusDock
It's based on DeskClock but more configurable and the music tab works with our Galaxy S Music Application

Great trick for having music tab working!
I have clockpackage yet because of chronometer and timer, so have two types of alarm

Can someone tell me why the weather widget isn't transparent on my SGS?
Any help appreciated.

Thanks dude. I'm totally loving this!
One problem though, I have two clocks now - AOSP and Samsungs. Is it clockpackage that I have to delete, or? Thx

[Q] Stock Accuweather Widget

Hi,
I have seem to have over-written the stock accuweather widget that somes with the i9100. Is there anyway to get it back? I've had a look around for it online and can't seem to find it...
Any help would be appreciated...!
Cheers
Dan
how is it called? is it an apk? if yes i could extract it from mine and send it to you, because the same happened to me with the browser ;-)
Go to app manager and select the accuweather app, there will be an option there to "uninstall update". That will restore the original widget.
(I assume you overwrote it with the samsung apps update, that's what I did)

i think this is what you looking for
Does anybody know if it is possible to use this widget with the ADW Launcher (EX)? It seems to work okay in 2x1 mode, but as soon as I try to resize it (4x1 would be my preference) the widget goes haywire - the background won't fit the new size.
Everything works with the TouchWhiz-Launcher, so I guess the way the widget was coded prevents it from being displayed correctly.

Nexus Prime /Galaxy Nexus wallpapers [960x800]+[ICS Launcher]+[Analog clock]+[Music]

Hi all,
I've found the nexus prime wallpapers (very nice!) and decided to share them with you
i've resized them to 960x800 resolution to fit perfectly on the screen.
If for any reason the .zip file doesn't work for you, download the .rar file in page 3 post 26
There's also:
* Analog clock
* Music player
* ICS launcher (3rd party app but 100% working)
Credits to IntelSoftApps (SyndicateApps) for the launcher, Analog clock and music player.
To deactivate the haptic feedback of the 3 onscreen buttons, this is how to proceed :
Settings => Sound => Tick haptic feedback => Vibration intensity (Lower it to the minimum level (0))
Then Untick haptic feedback again and you’re done.
if you like them, just hit the thanks button... it's free

No need for root, just install the apk and download a home manager (free from the market).
is there a way to disable the software buttons seeing as the i9000 has physical buttons?

No, it's not possible for now as it's not a ported launcher but the original launcher designed for galaxy nexus.
Maybe in the future..if a good developer decide to port it to i9000.
BTW, it works good as it is and the software buttons are not a problem, especially the middle and right ones.
has anyone tried some of the other apks?
Give Launcher a try on JVT.
Report will follow.
Props to you, it works (and looks) great.

if the clock is not listed please reboot

[MOD] AOSP JB Music Player Holo + Lockscreen Widget (Update v2.0)

Hello guys,
I was tired of Google Music, it crashes sometimes, was slow and unhandy for me. As I am a fan of the old standard Android Music Player, I decided to mod the old beast to get a fresher look.
It works flawlessly with every ROM. I am on AOKP MS1 Jelly Bean, just for the record.
The player has a status bar widget, is available on lockscreen and recognizes "VOL-Button to next track", if your ROM supports this.
If you like this Mod, feel free to download and install. Just push the .apk to /system/app and set the permissions to rw-r--r--, reboot and you are done.
In addition I packed a CWM-flashable .zip just for your convenience. Old Music.apk's will be deleted then! Please make a backup if you are unsure.
Version 2.0 can be installed as a normal app! If it doesn't install, you can push it to /system/app - eventually you must delete old Google Music then.
Screenshots and file are attached, keep on rocking!
Changelog:
12-22: Release v1
12-24: Release v1.1, new icons and new Tab bar, small fixes
04-30: Release v2.0, real Holo design, fixed all layout issues
Can music from the Play Music cloud be played through this?
Sent from a cloud of smoke
No, because only the Google Music Player can do this.
Google hasn't released the API until now.
Awesome job! I was tired of that old Froyo look. Works great on cm 10.1
The relentless pursuit of the perfect rom
Thanks, glad you like it
I've updated the player to v1.1, mostly visually to fit Holo more.
Got rid of the old tab bar and styled the menu context icons.
Merry Christmas to all!
Awesome work!!
Great design and functionality.
I come from iOS so this is exactly what I was looking for.
I have one issue though. I use pin protection for the lockscreen, is there a way to set album art to fullscreen? So it could fully cover the lockscreen wallpaper.
Unfortunately there is no .xml for a lockscreen widget, so I suppose this is controlled in the framework of the ROM itself.
The only widget I can change in the app is the 4x1 music control widget.
What ROM are you on? Can you post a screenshot from your lockscreen with the music widget in addition?
Thanks, I have a Galaxy S II running Omega 19.1.
Here´s the screenshot.

Fantastic Work.
At last the good old MusicPlayer in new JB Style. I love it.
Only one thing under CM10 I9100G, there are the icons/buttons for playlist, shuffle and repeat not in one row.
Oh, a other small thing. Is there translation for menu possible? It appears only in English.

Thank you
Works nicely with CM 10.1...addition of the lockscreen control was just what I needed.

Hmmm
As I hated the stupid german translation and like english in music apps more, I deleted the extra languages - so for my mod: no, sorry
You can easily copy the translation from original app with apktool again.
Regarding lockscreen: indeed this is controlled by framework not the app, so I can't do anything about it.
You'll need to change framework-res.apk for that.

Thanks this works great
Thanks for this mod it's a great light player, just what i was looking for. I too didn't like all the bloat in Google Play.
I was wondering if there was the possibility of one addition?
I have .nomedia in my music folder so my picture viewer doesn't load all my album art (i fell out with quickpic)
Would it be possible to have an option to ignore .nomedia?
Thanks, Cuben

(WIP) Resizable Touchwiz Widgets

This will remove the need for modded apks that are being used on a 5x6 or larger launcher.
I've tested it myself on a modded s5 5x6 launcher I made, but would like to make sure it works for any of the other touchwiz launchers.
I made a resizable Apollo music player. If you currently have it installed, remove the widget first. Then as you normally would resize something, long press on the widget.
When i added it back to mine it automatically went to the sizing box as shown.
