Moisture Indicator - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

I have saw a few of these threads but none related to the tilt 2 on ATT. I need to make a warranty claim but my sticker is pink. its not completely red or anything and my phone is still mint, never been near water. I see on sprint the same sticker has crosshatches and wasnt sure if thats how mine was. i wanna say it was solid white, like the sticker by the battery. The only sticker with red crosshatchs on the att branded tp2 is on the battery itself. Can anyone confirm this for me?

My Tilt2 has no such sticker.

yes my battery also has the same sticker. its on the bottom where the connectors to the phone go.. but on the battery if that makes any sense

Hi,
My touch pro 2 has an indicator on the housing surrounding the battery (on the right side) and on the battery itself. A fresh indicator is one with the pink hashes or lines and a tripped or wet indicator is one that turns pink. these could be triggered by sweat, but they may be merciful regarding warranties when they see the internal indicator on the battery not triggered.
In Aus with telstra, generally you get a verbal warning and you sign to say that they can fix upto $150 of damage before they call you, IF the factory deem damage to be out of warranty (or liquid damage, which is generally out of warranty).
I have a HT touch pro 2 T7381 (Rhod110) Aus Telstra model.
Hope this helps

I've got a ATT Tilt 2 and the moisture sticker is on the opposite side of the SD card. I SWEAR my first two didn't have them there. This most recent one does. Ill give you one guess where my sweaty thumb goes when you pull the back cover off to reset the phone when it freezes all the damn time.

This is just really pissing me off. The speakers are starting to crackle...again. And im worried if they are going to get me a new one.

I take it back, I DO have those things on my Tilt 2. Didn't know what they were. Thought they were larger and more obvious.

Is your on the same spot as my pink one? like 2 inches below the freaking reset button?

Yeah, but none on the battery, just in the compartment.

Interesting, I have the indicator under the battery, and on the battery itself. But none below the reset button. There is a space for it, a small recessed square in the plastic, but no indicator sticker. Just bare plastic. Release version of the Tilt 2.

Yes very interesting, especially when i had show image above, i have mine on battery (the same place as image above), but the other one was near the microsd slot. The sticker was not white it's was like red crosshatchs on white background. Mine was Touch pro2 (model T7373), what's interesting? why it's not in the same place as other?

I believe the stickers are put on by the carrier, not the manufacturer. That might be why there's no uniformity as to their location and placement.

since yours does not have the sticker below the reset button like mine, about when did you get your phone. I had one that didn't have it, and in July had to have mine replaced, they mailed me this one. If i need to have it replaced soon ill just talk to one ATT store, then if there is a problem, yank the sticker and go to another. because either way they will want more money. bastards haha

I do have that one, just not the one on the battery. I got mine new in June from someone on Craig's List, not AT$T.

bleach makes the stickers white.
If you want to freak out your carrier though, use some hydrogen peroxide to make it as red as you can.

Display problem..defective..?

The display on my TP2 appears to have a liquidy substance underneath the cover/plastic top.. I can only see it when looking at it from a certain angle and it moves around when I touch it.. Is this the result of a defective display? I've had this phone since..late august, early september, and noticed it awhile ago.. never thought anything of it.. Just wondering if i could get a replacement or something, as i have insurance..
ill look for a picture that shows what im talking about. but can someone tell me what it is, if it will affect my screen, and if i can get a replacement?
thanks.
If it looks liquidy and moves around when you touch it, it sounds like... liquid. You may want to check the water indicator underneath the battery to make sure it isn't activated. If it's a solid pink/red color, your warranty won't cover a repair or replacement.

My touch screen stopped working this evening, also has some filmy moist-looking substance under glass, but I didn't expose it to anything, and my water indicator sticker under the battery cover is still in good shape. Called Sprint for replacement, but any ideas while I wait?

From what I've heard and seen, it's caused by a manufacturing defect on early models. The only way to fix it is to replace the touch screen. I don't know how the HTC service centres are in the US, but in the UK they are very, very helpful and replaced it free of charge within a week.

This worked for me!!!
sorry wrong thread. about a month ago my touch screen stopped working, after taking my phone apart not finding anything, i stumbled on that page and found that i had a tiny piece of something under the edge of my screen, after i relived the pressure the screen started working

just ruined my one x screen due to flex issue.

Ok here's a warning to all of you, the edges of the screen are very sensitive to pressure I noticed the other day light pressure on the edge of the bezel would make my screen discolored, I just took my phone out of my pocket now and I have a yellow vertical band down the right hand side of my screen, I'm guessing my phone squeezed in my pocket when I got in the car for work this morning, just a warning to everyone be ultra gentle with your screens. :-( not happy.
having tested and unboxed over 15 HOXes
i can confirm to you some of them ripple under light pressure, some under some effort and few impossible to ripple
the ripple is a sign of imperfect screen lamination, if your's was very sensitive to begin with than it was defected out of box and hence the damage you have now
out of the 15 i tried, only one of them that my cousin own is completely ripple free no matter how hard you push
the one im talking about feels completely different to the rest, its extremely rigid on both left and right sides with such a tight gap that no dust can get it, like i said it has been an impossible task for me to find another one like it, this one is also perfectly clean and even on whites when viewed at every angle, ie: its lamination is flawless, early HT23 white
something is seriously messed with HTC screen fitting and its only time before more and more cases like this will appear
This phone gets better by the day...
Might dump it on ebay and .....
This is rediculous.... somone with money and power DO SOMETHING!!!!
Mod edit: Edited for language
The glass is pretty fragile anyway TBH. Mine has been in a pocket on it's own and still managed to become scratched after a week, whereas my last iPhone 4 went about two years without getting a mark on either side!

You should get a Samsung device, I here each of their displays are identically perfect. Seriously, I've never seen a mobile device forum where there weren't a percentage of complaints about the display. You can't build millions and have every unit perfect. Google "iPad/iPhone display issues" and you'll see no one's immune.

Thats the good thing about being able to manufacture your own screens and not have to rely on 3rd parties I suppose. Imagine being able to buy a HTC phone with a Samsung screen in it! Minus all the Hardware issues too!
Oh wait, were you being sarcastic!?!? lol

Bottom Button Light Alignment

So, I just traded my Galaxy SII for a One X on Craigslist. He told me of this problem before, but hey, I didn't care. The phone functions perfectly fine. The one issue that I'm just annoyed at is the bottom button alignment. I don't know if this is common or not (I tried finding other posts but I didn't find any), but the lights behind the buttons are a bit to the bottom left. But when I press the buttons, they respond, the lights just... aren't behind it? Sorry, I don't have a great camera (used my Captivate) but I tried my best. It doesn't seem prominent, but it really is in the dark. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Or can I possibly send this to HTC (if I just tell them I bought it from AT&T, I don't know how they would figure out I didn't. I have the original box too)

in my phone, lights are perfectly matched to buttons
well try factory reset once and if the issue is still there then you can talk to htc customer care and send it to them {if the phone is not rooted}

Here is my issue. I already called them and they told me that they could diagnose it and possibly fix it. If I don't want to have it fixed (due to a high price for the services) I am required to pay the $40. So basically, I'm screwed.
Looks to me like the LEDs behind those buttons somehow got shifted. Can’t imagine something like that passing quality control at HTC, perhaps the screen was replaced by the previous owner and whoever responsible did a shoddy job.
Look very closely at the very edge of the screen and the thin black strip surrounding the screen for tool marks. This is how you take off the screen of the One X, the process is likely to leave some marks at the pry points (especially if it was done poorly). If you can see marks, that is a very good indication that the screen was replaced. IMO there is nothing much you can do without taking it apart and re-aligning /replacing the LEDs.

Yep, I just looked and talked to the guy and he said he did open it once. I think I'm just going to leave it as is because the phone functions perfectly fine and I don't even use those buttons that much (I'll just stop them from lighting up with an App). I was also expecting a problem here and there seeing as the phone essentially cost me 160 off contract. Thanks for the help.

And here is a repair guide for those of you who are brave enough!
And a https://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/OnePlus+One+Teardown/26484 for those who wish to repair the phone themselves.
@zephiK thanks ill add to op
In the ifixit teardown I noticed that the battery is not TOO difficult to remove. Does anyone know if replacement batteries are available for this device.
It is using a 3.8v 3100mah LiPo battery.
OnePlus probably woudn't sell the batteries on their own. I also read on another forum somewhere (can't remember which one now) somebody was thinking of creating a way that the battery connector could be extended and fit into the battery compartment. This way you wouldn't have to unscrew the plate just to take out the battery.
Even if this is not feasible it would still be reassuring to know where to purchase replacement batteries from. If anybody knows anything on this, please let us know, thanks.
Thanks for the link. Where is the repair guide? I see a Teardown link.
Sent from my A0001 using XDA Free mobile app
When installed does this have little dots on the top of the screen. A friend just recently had a new 3rd party screen/digitizer installed on her G2 and you can see like small dots spaced perfectly across the phone. I am wondering if she just got a low quality replacement.
I've tried many times to repair my phones myself, every single time there was something gone wrong  Anyway glad to hear this :victory:

I'we seen 6 OPO's (with different dates of production) and all of them have yellow band at the bottom of the screen, so I can assumed that the most of OPO's have yellow band. My three friends says, tahey have no yellow band, but it is defenitely there (maybe they don't want to see it).
Go search for "Yellow" in OPO pages and you will see that so much people talk about it.
Even OPO admitted, that every 1+ have slightly yellow band on bottom of their phones.

Mine doesn't have the yellow band either. I thought it was a bold statement.
I received 2 and neither had the yellow band. I am certain that I have at least average color differentiation.
Can confirm no yellow banding on mine

What does a white to now red circle indicator above the SD CARD mean? Water damage?

The white circle indicator just to the top right of the SD card is now red for my LG G4. Does anyone know what this indicates? I haven't exposed it to any water that I know of.
I've been having random problems with reboots especially when the phone is hot, charging, heavy use, etc. I want to send the device into warranty but I'd like to know what I am dealing with first.

The white circle above the SD card is now red for me. The other red indicator above the battery in the stock image is water damage according to T-mobile. On mine it is white.

Quick update. I took the phone to Sprint and they state it's water damage. However, the tech wouldn't provide documentation that the white circle that is now red is indeed water damage. Instead, he deferred to the internal components with damage that appears consistent with water damage.
Do the photos I've attached look consistent with water damage? I haven't exposed the phone to any water that I know of so I don't know how this could have occurred. Couldn't the peeling of the heatsink over the processor also be due to heat? My phone has non-stop overheating issues now.

Looks like it could be. Could it be from being in your pocket on a hot day while working out or something. I know if I leave my M9 in pocket when I mow the lawn it can get pretty humid in my pocket.
Add TEP and bring it back in a week.

The thing is I have total equipment protection (TEP) but I don't want to pay 200 for the device replacement when I got the device for $0.01 months ago. I ideally would like to confirm that it is water damage vs. possible heat damage so I could atleast have a case with LG warranty. It doesn't feel right that I have to just trust that the indicator is water damage. If it is, I would just like to see the documentation that it is water damage since I haven't exposed the phone to any water beyond working out. If this is from being in a pocket then I don't understand how the other water damage indicator by the battery isn't tripped.
I guess my options are
1) Pay the 200 for TEP
2) Try another Sprint store with more lenient repairman
3) Send to LG warranty and hope for the best
I'd try LG for warranty. The know there's a heat problem with the phone. Their repair may take three weeks though.
Yeah, to be honest, I think when he pulled the top off he separated even more of the heat sink off. It now doesn't even get past optimizing android at the start up because it freezes. This is even under a box fan at 60F.

Get you some high quality thermal paste and cover that thing, put it back together and see how it works.
I'd contact Sprint corporate and go ape ****, I'd tell them your phone was at least working when you brought it in, and their incompetant tech made it much much worse, and I wouldn't relent until they fix it. In all the time we've been working on your phone, it's not been as bad as it is now, right?
Id try the thermal paste option though first, and contact Sprint and don't quit, contact them every day, at a corporate level. Filing a complaint with the BBB goes directly to corporate and you will get a call from someone in corporate. That's how it's worked for me in the past.
Good Luck!
