Question with regards to Rooting

Hi all,
I have been using WM devices for many years and have recently switch to Android, HTC desire. When it comes to Android and Linux, I can be considered as a complete noob.
I have read Paul's thread on rooting but am unsure on the following items:
1. After the root process, my firmware will become root 1.15.405 with superuser, is this right?
2. If I flash the desire with the original HTC 1.19.707.7 firmware, my device will become unroot, is this right?
3. How can I have a rooted 1.19.707.7 firmware? I prefer using this version due to the inbuilt Asian support.
Please kindly advise.
Thanks!

Can anyone advise?
Thanks in advance!
no one care to advise?
I'm new to Android as well.
But, yes to your 1st question.
After following the guide by Paul you will get 1.15.405 with superuser.
The device will be unrooted once flashed with an original HTC rom.
I'm not sure how to have a rooted 1.19. But if you want support for pinyin, you can either use a Modaco Custom rom and include HTC CIME, or install Google pinyin from the appmarket.

hi bro,
thanks for sharing your experience. Now i am clear on the first 2 queries.
As for the last, can some kind-soul-experts advise?
I always build my own personal rom for each windows device. For android, I am also very interested to get my hands dirty and build my very own personal version. Please kindly point me to the right directions.
Thanks!

[Q] Latest Froyo Odexed ROM needed

I am looking for an Odexed and untouched version of the Latest Froyo stock sense ROM for the HTC Droid Incredible. I saw that senior member rmk40 had a copy in the thread below but the link seems to be broken. Their is another link closer to the end of the thread but that's for the deodexed version. Any help that can be provided is appreciated.
Thread which had link: "[ROM] Stock Sense/Froyo v3.21.605.1 *Official* (Rooted, Odexed OR Deodexed) [9/30/10]"
Update: Never mind I believe I finally found a link within the thread that works.

This is a rooted ROM built off the official HTC Sense/Froyo v3.21.605.1 release (pulled from signed RUU), which is being rolled out by Verizon via OTA as the final build.
ROM Details:
Completely unmodified (odexed version) and sourced from RUU_Incredible_C_Froyo_VERIZON_WWE_3.21.605.1_Radi o_2.15.00.07.28_2k4k_NV_1.50_PRL58006_release_1433 51_signed.exe.
Includes all system components and full boot image.
Rooted with Superuser 2.3.4.
Nothing removed, odexed and deodexed+zipaligned versions both available here.
Installation:
You must be rooted, have nand unlocked and be running a 2.x radio. Follow dadicus' guide for details on how to perform these steps.
Perform a nandroid backup of your current ROM, in case you change your mind or encounter issues.
Apply the zip via Clockwork Recovery. It has not been tested with any other recovery.
If you are coming from another completely stock ROM (i.e. Sense 2.1 or 2.2), you may not have to wipe data. I obviously recommend wiping data (since it will eliminate any possibly bad/stale configuration), but the update script will not do so automatically during installation. Use your best judgement to determine what works best for you.
Disclaimer
As with any modification (ROM, patch, etc), you run the risk of damaging your device. While unlikely, it is important to consider this possibility before proceeding. I take no responsibility for any such damage, data loss or otherwise.

How to get back to the original ROM from RCMix3D KINGDOM v1.9?

Hello everyone!
I own a HTC Desire HD.
Yesterday, I downgraded my software version of the HTC from a 2.3 GingerBread to 2.2, and rooted my phone. Then, I installed RCMix3D KINGDOM v1.9, the HTC Sense 3.0 graphical user interface.
However, now I want to go back to my old ROM, the original one, with GingerBread.
Or a 2.2 version, then I'll update to GingerBread myself.
My phone is rooted for the moment. I want everything back to normal.
Is there any possibility to do this?
Thank you!
Follow my Sig.
An excellent stock ROM, on the latest build. You won't be disappointed.

Flash an ruu file of what ever version you want (sorry no link since I'm not on my pc), that should unroot your phone.
Next I THINK you need to perform a radio s-on and eng s-on.. Please have a look in development section you should find your answer for sure..
And to point out try the Rom in my sig, interface same as the stock just improved performance...

I managed to make it work and downgraded from RCMix3D KINGDOM v1.9 to 2.2 ( GingerBread to Froyo )
I found a .zip of stock ROM and a program called "atb" or something here on the forum, along with some instructions of how to do it.
Thank you!

[Q] info about update..

hey people..
i bought a new desire HD and updated to android 2.3.5..
so at the time rooting it got downgraded to 2.1 ,so is thr any way to upgrade it to 2.3.5 again..witout loosing the root.?
The whole point of rooting is to flash other roms - besides the other things you can do.
You would need to search for one in the dev section, and if you aren't partial to sense roms, you can even get a 2.3.7 Gb rom.
Sent from a dream.
you must flashed other ROM same from XDA Forum dev
u must download custom rom and flash it from recovery, or u can download ROM Manager apk
if you're looking for 2.3 i would recommend Android Revolution(for full sense experience and much speedier over stock) or the BlackIce if you're into minimalistic themes and lots of usefull system/system tools.
You can try this rooted Ruu 3.12.***
you can easly use the custom ROM's or use the RUU ( officiall ROM ).
download any of them and go to recovery then flash the new ROM's.
enjoy it..

New to Wildfire S

I don't have this phone. My friend owns one. He's asking me to update his device to Android 4.0 unofficially.
I have some questions :-
1) Which is the best method to root this via stock?
2) Which is the most stable ICS ROM? Any major/minor bugs?
3) Please link me to a thread that gives instructions on how to install recovery and other procedure for installing ROMs on this device.
4) Is there any way to return back to stock if I accidentally soft brick it or make some mistake?
PS : I have quite of experience in rooting, flashing ROMs and other stuff.
Thanks in advance
