Best, most stable ROM? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm searching for a friend who's got an EVO. He is rooted, but his current ROM (not sure which one) has MMS issues. Which ROM (in your experience) is the best for a novice rooter and has everything working and has decent battery life? Your replies are appreciated.

Calks evio is top notch IMHO

Myn's 2.2 or Baked Snack 1.9.

Pretty good possibly since you could have done a little research and come up with your own conclusion instead of starting another useless thread...

Yes I agree you could have done some reading on your own and maybe test out some ROMS. This section is intended to be for benefit of ROM development. With that said I am closing this thread.

Alright guys, Avalaunch released the 2.2 Update (with wimax and radio update)

I swear its true...
This thread is a request for kernels for official 2.2.
FLASH IT!!!
DO IT!!!
OMG NO WAI this really needed its own thread.
hey everyone else can do it... i wanted in the loop... but yea Ava 2.2 Kernel thread... this is it
A novel idea: Make a thread when there IS a kernel available.
total waste of time
now we have to wait for HTC to release the kernel source

if you're implying that the CM6snap kernel will work with this I highly doubt it... since its an AOSP kernel... and as for the
one found here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=726854
ill be testing that soon
People loooovvveeee to make the same threads on this website and see who has the most responses in it... heres 1 for your thread.
this is becoming sad, really sad.. it stopped being funny when we realized they are just actually stupid ppl here that werent kidding around

im starting to think that is really what it has come down to..
Not to fuel the fire, but if you were creating a thread for the sole purpose of kernels, don't you think you would add that in the title. "AVA Froyo Kernels", or AVA Froyo Kernel Requests" rather then, "alright guys, a stock 2.2 has been rooted"

[Q] Evo Simple User

I just rooted my phone, but I lack the knowledge of what type of ROM should I install on my EVO.
I'm a simple user, use some games, not complicated ones, use Facebook, like to use as a router, use PDA net, started to use open home, just for the look of it.
msn also used, a lot of text messaging, some you tube videos.
But I personally DISLIKE unwanted stuff like the sprint add ons, and would really want to eliminate those things.
I like to custom my phone with nice skins and usable tweaks.
could anyone give their opinion on which ROM would you recommend?
cyanogen, but first you should have read forum rules, as i think this was an appropriate question that could have been asked in the Q&A section
P.S- prepare for flamers lol
true my bad, its the part where I have this forum page as a fav and I did not change the forum and just posted this here, since I'm working on the phone right now, but a mod member could relocate the post if he wishes, and flamers dont bother me.
thanks for the info.
OMFG! WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN BY POSTING THIS HERE!? FLAME ON! GAWD WHY DON'T PEOPLE READ!?!?!?!!?
But seriously...CM6 is probably correct. No sense, no Sprint Bloat, etc. In the themes/apps section there are quite a few themes out for it. I'd probably start there.
Jajajaja
me jodi yo ahora...
true about the post in the wrong place....
and thanks looking foward to it, but trying to download unrevoked for evo and problem with web page wich sucks...

but doesn't CM6 lack 4G support?
Still not rooted the phone, im in 2.1 update 1
and I need the unrevoked file, could anyone upload it, since the webpage shows some type of error?
Regarding the 4G theres no 4G here in Puerto Rico yet... wich sucks...
I dont use the HDMI and I really dont need the Radio.
so Ill try this rom as soon as I finish rooting.
Thanks for the info provided.

Yep. It does. There are 'non sense' versions of 'sense' based ROMs that DO have 4g, but for most people (I live close to Philly, so I'm one of the lucky ones) 4g doesn't really exist yet.

Yup cm6 is best. I get superior battery life with cm 6 snap combined.

The winning combo for me is Fresh 3.2.0.0 + KingxKernel bfs6 + manup revolution.
I tried CM6 for a couple days and I loathed it.

Wow you have just confused me more.
I have read something about Fresh, im ok up to there, but the rest I have no Idea,
what u do a mix of 3 roms or I have no Idea on how to even explain...
Fresh is the rom. Kings kernel is exactly that a kernel. And man up is a theme. Stick with fresh, ava, or ojm until you learn a little more. They are solid roms that stick close to stock.

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you.
I really like Fresh. I have tried quite a few ROMs and Fresh is my favorite. Evio and BakedSnack are also good ones.

[Q] DamageControl ROM done? Now what?

It does not look like Damageless is going to further develop his EVO ROM. I've so much enjoyed the great work that was done. Battery life was great and it was very basic.
All good things come to an end, at least thats what I've been told.
I'm asking for suggestions for a ROM I can switch to that might be similar to this one.
Big Thanks!

Thank you for the helpful reply... I'm sure it will satisfy a lot of those searching the forum thinking of asking the same question.
To OP: they are quite close, and you really need to try both and decide for yourself sorry. It is very easy, just make a nandroid of your current rom and install one. Use it for a couple of days and then install the other.
I can only tell you that my personal preference is oxygen and if you are only looking at the lightest rom you might as well try out dev-null(it's very lightweight, but lacks all of the extra features from oxygen and the others)
Haha epic video

It's not really my problem when you get disappointed in posts which inter alia tells you to use the search.
Anyway, I finally tested both and Redux has a much better battery life. At least on my device. In case it helps someone to decide ...
hahahaha i agree with reaper... epic video.
to the OP from my own i would say LeeDroid GB307 data++

Notification Toggles like AOKP/CM on Stock?

As we all know, stock android is definitely a lot less laggier and more smooth than AOKP/CM10 at this stage.
Is there a Stock Android ROM that has the notification toggles that AOKP/CM provide? Even an app would work.
Notification toggles.... extended controls....widgetsoid... there's quite a few apps that does this.

Power Control is my favorite one. https://play.google.com/store/apps/...t#?t=W251bGwsMSwyLDEsImNvbS5wYWlubGVzcy5wYyJd
matches ICS/JB -- holo themed

Umm, no, you're still confused. You made a useless statement in that it lacked any actual actionable information that could actually help someone other than perhaps your ego.
I then made the open-minded and patient mistake of assuming your statement might be right (despite the clear lack of any motivation behind your post other than one-off trolldom) and opening myself up to learning from you.
You opted again, not to explain or support anything you've said, and instead post yet another empty post.
It seems my whole 10s of patience really /was/ wasted on a troll. So much for expecting all posters on xda to actually understand the point of xda…
