[Q] Application Query - Windows Phone 7 General

Sorry if this is in the wrong place but was not sure where to post it.
Just wondered if anyone had managed to find/spot a Application anywhere that does additional camera modes just yet, I know the camera has a half dozen effects builtin but it's missing such as Pencil and Xray.
I had these via a App on my iPhone 4 called Camera Illusion, however I decided to sell my iPhone 4 as soon as I could get hold of a HTC HD7 as I got a little bored of it lol
Thanks for your help guys.
Jamie

Hi Jamie
I don't think any of the launch devices have these abilities built-in, but I'm sure there will be apps that do this in the near future, if there aren't already.
In a mildly related topic, I have read the the Omnia 7 provides advanced camera options for exposure etc as well as having decent camera hardware.

We needed the same thing last week. The company that built the software (IAstyle, http://www.iastyle.com) got bought by HTC recently, and it doesn't look like they'll be selling much any time soon.
and one would resell or offer this api? it will help a lot the comunity

I will try to use classic trick by capturing screen buffer while picture soft is running...
then my soft will put it to jpg remove jpg header and in sequence it will send it to my video stream server which then distributs it on broadband computer to more users which they will see something like this http://spaced.no-ip.com
however camera has 1 bug its picking up GSM-GPRS signal induction lines... anyway there is always way around it.[/quote]

Custom Camera Application

Hi, I'm new to mobile development but I'm trying to develop a custom camera application to pick up the tech. The mobile device I'm current using is the HTC HD2.
What I'm trying to do is to develop a custom camera application without launching the HTC camera interface. The samples that I've tried always launched the default HTC camera interface. I've been looking into several articles including the ones in codeprojects and msdn but most of them suggested using the managed code CameraCaptureDialog or the unmanaged SHCAMERACAPTURE. I've tried looking into the samples using both and they are not doing what I'm want.
The reason I'm trying to use the default manufacturer app is so I can add additional features such as laying different grid patterns on the screen as composition guide.
I appreciate any help or pointers on this. Thanks.
I too am very interested in a camera API for HTC.
The best example I found so far is:
http://alexmogurenko.com/blog/directshownetcf/
This works, and the examples are good, but it only gives you a very low resolution.
From what I gather, this is a problem with HTC not supplying the required drivers. I can't imagine why HTC would not give developers a good API for the full capabilities of the camera, as more devs using this API can only benefit HTC.
This seems like a very common need, I'd love to see a good solution.
a selfish move for HTC...i guess they think this way they can increase sales in their new product lineups....

Evo front-facing camera only does mirror images

The HTC Evo front-facing camera will not take an image in standard left-right format. I can see the argument for providing a mirror image to the display when setting up a picture (self-portraits), but the result (the actual picture) should not be mirrored.
If using Skype through Fring to video chat (which is really cool, BTW if just a little choppy) the video feed I'm providing to the other party is again mirrored.
It's clear there is a deliberate manipulation of the images going on here, but I can't make out why they would do that. Is there some fix, upgrade, or setting that will clear the problem?
I have not yet rooted my phone, and honestly I'm new to Android (much more familiar with security unlocking and re-flashing WinMo phones up to this point) so I might need the less-than-expert explanation if that's what's needed. ;-)
Thanks!
Rich
I remember a few people talking about this right after google i/o, I think they found a way to fix it, ill look around a bit to try to find the thread. It could be a setting in the camera settings also..

Looked around, but couldn't find a solution, but a few people think its a software issue, and has to do with qik and fring. Im not sure though.
nvm, i was wrong

[Q] Xperia M camera is out of focus when using Skype

Hello community !
I own "Xperia M" for a while and I can tell you that the 5M pixel back camera on this phone is worst than on my old "Xperia ray" ! I compared the streaming video on Skype, in the same conditions, with the same Skype application version - - the result is that Xperia ray shows much better quality, on Xperia M the video is darker and lacks in AF. I consider bad quality of the camera as an issue and I would like to know if this could be fixed with a possible camera mod ?
Thank you in advance
No answer ...yet...I think I will post this question on sonymobile website. I need to know if there can be improvement made on the camera. If not I 'll get rid of this phone.
Thanks again.
The C1905 camera really bad, i had trouble with blueish photo taken and worst in night
Looks like a case-closed on "Xperia Care" web portal. This is what I got from there, kinda chat between me and "uliwooly - Forum legend" :
uliwooly:
It's not your phone's issue, its the app, even if its the same version Skype/microsoft has to address compatibility issues not Sony
me:
Ok. Forget Skype for now. I get out of focus image when I connect directly the phone to the computer, via USB cable, using explorer as camera viewer.Or how do you explain, on the phone, not seeing a focused image in preview mode, before taking a picture - as someone mentioned in another thread.
uliwooly:
This thread was about skype, if you have other camera issues, you should post on that ongoing thread, so other users can help you, also don't forget to check this
http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/FAQ/Capture-better-photos-in-low-light-conditions/m-p/395397#U395397
one more thing, keep in mind that we are here to help each other, we, users.
me:
I don't know if your job is to create confusion, here on the forum, among us the customers. But:
You provided a weblink - I DID NOT mention anything about low conditions.
If you have admin privileges, please change the title pointing as a general issue for the camera, not only for Skype.
To conclude, I just want to know if the camera quality - a decent quality- can be obtained by software upgrade. If it's a hardware issue I am afraid I already know the answer.
Thank you
uliwooly:
Just contact Sony directly

The feeling is that they believe the camera on this phone is working properly.
Personally, I am going to wait a while to see if a workaround will be provided here on xda-developers. If not, finally I will switch to another brand.
And this is my review for Xperia M on gsmarena:
This phone is having issues with the camera focus in preview mode. Preview mode is used when you launch the camera to start shooting photos, but before you half-press the button to adjust focus. As a result, video calls applications like Skype will look very poor.

Questions about a third-party panoramic camera

Hello everyone, I was recently gifted a 360 camera for my phone. Its A "LOLLY360 Panoramic Camera". Its cool. I found it on Amazon and apparently costs $80. You need to download the Lolly360 accompanying app in order to use it though. Which is kind of a bummer.
Herein lies my question: could there be a way to hack this thing to get it to "take over" the main camera of the phone? That way any app can utilize the 2 cameras on the accessory device?
I'm not sure where to even ask this question. Because its really more about hacking. But its hacking an accessory.....or possibly software? Like a man-in-the-middle approach? Any help would be appreciated.
This is what I think, because when I first installed the app and connected the 360cam, a popup asked me if I wanted to launch the app anytime THIS usb device is connected. And then, once connected, how does the camera talk to the app? Could there be a way to hijack this communication and use the accessory on ANY app that uses a camera? My fist instinct was to use it as a dash cam, since it has 2 super-wide angle cameras.
Anyway, thanks to anyone who can give some feedback...or a mod that moves this to the right forum...
following
I'm still curious if anyone has any input on this....so...bump
