[REQ] Stock Clock Removal - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've started using time/weather widgets, and now I feel like the clock in the notification bar is just redundant and taking up space. Is there a way to remove it?

this is on my todo list once i get the power options working 100% with my theme. it has been done with other android devices so i dont see it being a problem

Awesome! Are you just including it in your theme or can you make a flashable zip for the clock removal by itself?

It will have to be a stand alone cause not everyone use going to like it

is this possible for the Epic4g?

This was part of a theme in the g2/desirez thread.
Is there anything like this for the Epic4g.

+1 on this
The dual locks would be awesome.
Pretty sure I would **** bricks if we had a lockscreen like that. I use sms popup, but this would be awesome.

once the source is released for our phone we'll get a CM rom. then we'll have this.
I had it on my hero, it was pretty slick.
Widget Locker does this.

If we're talking about the lockscreen then, like alfiej said, widget locker can fill it up with sliders and widgets. I do have a question about that link tho. Does the gingerbread lockscreen actually have multiple sliders and/or can it be customized like that on stock? Or is the multiple sliders a change made in CM6.1?

I really don't like running apps in my background (especially lockscreens).
1. They dont work all the time.
2. They take up too much memory.
I used widget locker and my phone died much faster than without it. I had my phone unplugged yesterday for 15 hours before it got down to 80%. With it, it was down at like 60%. Sorry dude.
No need to apologize dude, I just was naming what does this. I bought widget locker a few weeks ago and got a refund within an hour so I feel your pain.

What's dope about this one is above the sliders you can draw gestures and it will automatically launch those apps
I actually really like our stock lock screen because it basically has these same features. I'd probably go for this one if it was available to us because I like the vanilla layout better.

Trouble with unlock screen

Had this phone for Two days now and LOVE it. Way better then evo 3d I had. Only issue I have is I struggle to unlock it every time. Maybe the size maybe the touchwiz screen. Either way it makes me crazy. Anyone make a suggestion of a different lock screen that is stable and won't mess up the excellent battery life.
Btw I have no interest in rooting but don't mind buying an app if needed. Also I have no issue with other parts of touchwiz just the lock screen.
I use widget locker. You can set that up any way you'd like. I have the stock aosp lock screen. Does wonders.

Widget locker allows you to customize the lockscreen with a ot of different options. So the AOSP lockscreen is when you slide the icon across to unlock you phone. It is Androids stock lock screen that ships with Android if Samsung or HTC wouldn't add their own.
Agile lock is pretty good too. It gives you a lockscreen similar to sense 3.0

I replaced my stock lock screen with widget locker and haven't experienced any problems (including battery life). It could be that people using widget locker are placing battery intensive widgets on their lockscreen.
Yeah I haven't had any problems with battery life or any slow downs either. This phone handles the battery and speed well. You can set it up however you like, the possibilities are endless. You can even download themes. I just like it so much because I don't have to use the original lock screen for our phone.

Thanks again! I downloaded and have been playing with widget locker and love it so far. Only question I have is ... Is there some way to get rid of the icon in the notification bar that shows widget locker ongoing. I keep thinking there is something I have not checked and it kinda bothers me. Tried to find a setting to get rid if it but no luck. Thanks again

Transparent Status Bar/Lockscreen

Maybe I sound like a dummy but I notice that if you put in your own custom wallpaper, the statusbar turns black like on the S3, but if you use the Samsung wallpapers, it is transparent. Is there anyway to make it ALWAYS transparent?
Also, is it possible to have multiple widgets with a PIN? Because I notice once you put a pin in, Samsung disables alot of the things you can do with the 4.2 lockscreen, which is dumb and defeats the purpose...

Nope. You answered your own question. Even without a PIN, they hork a lot of what 4.2 can do stock. Yet another reason why AOSP-based ROMs are superior.

Changing clock in notification bar

Hey all I was looking at alternative Clock apps and found Timely and I was wondering if their is a way to make it the default clock app to open when I single click the clock in the status bar? If it's possible a quick how to would be awesome! Since the app can sync across all android devices, I want to apply the same setting to the status bar clock (if possible) on my Nexus 7 tablet (1 generation) as well. I'm running [ROM][SPH-D710][JB][4.2.2] CyanogenMod 10.1 Official Nightly Builds on my phone and Official Cm10.1.3 on the Nexus 7. All help is much appreciated!

Disclaimer: This is based on AOKP, I'm pretty sure it's this way under CM too, but not 100%, so I apologize if this doesn't work for you
Settings => Rom Control => Clock (under statusbar)
Then you can change the actions for clock short click, clock long click, and clock double click.

CM doesnt have Rom control in the settings
You can try to backup and delete the CM clock and see if timely pops up. It's worth a shot.

Tried this as well but the status bar just continuously force closes till I restore the clock

It requires to re-map the clock to the timely app, then. Which is beyond my knowledge.
Is the long-click stuff mentioned here helpful? https://jira.cyanogenmod.org/browse/CYAN-962
Based on my linux skillz, it does seem like their should be some way to do this via symlinking, but I can't even find the clock app in the places the other apps seem to live, so I don't know how to go about doing this, sorry

Heh actually the guy was asking the same question as I am. The long press I already knew about I just want to click on the clock app and it use my clock. The forum also said what I knew that older versions of cm allowed it but for some reason 10.1 doesn't or at least I don't know how to access it

Transparent Nav and Notification Bar?

Are there any devs or someone smarter than me, that could theme the top notification bar and bottom navigation bar to be semi transparent/fully transparent like how it is on the homescreen w kitkat, so when im in an app it could still be transparent instead of big black bars?
I'm a newb when it comes to editing ui files etc, thanks for the help.

I think when you update to 4.4.2 Google gave all the devices the transparency on both the nav bar and notification bar. Its even on the lockscreen too. If you open up some app they take advantage of it. Some apps don't such as fb. I think its up to the developers to update their apps. So I'm not convinced you need to modify your frameworks or anything like that its all enabled bone stock =]

yeah im just wondering, if its possible to modify the files to make it to where even if an app hasn't, the black will still be semi transparent, b/c im sure there will be plenty of developers who choose to not bother adding it

Sent from my Nexus 5 using Tapatalk
I tried this before on aokp jellybean, its ugly because the transparency isnt within the apps (just like iOS) but the homescreen you can see your wallpaper while inside an app lol i guess it all depends on the app if it wants you to use full emersion :/

Use gravity box module with xposed
Only nexus 5 has transparent bar, nexus 4 update to 4.4.2 cannot install latest android home launcher.
You mean like this?
Sent from my 2013 Nexus 7.
ROM: CleanRom 2.6
Kernel: ElementalX 2.3
CPU: 1728 MHz Overclock
GPU: 450 MHz Overclock
Governor: Ondemand
Just went thru an rooted installed this mod, literally does everything, except transparency lol Thanks tho for the help/replies guys.
Just use a custom rom with it built in. Custom roms have had transparencies way back in the day. Where do you think Google got the idea?
Xposed does this well. You have to enable transparency AND have a launcher and touchscreen that supports it. If your launcher doesn't support it then it won't work. Gotta have both.
