Doc Froyo 7.6.1 on Bell's i9000m - FC on incoming calls. - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

Hey guys,
I recently flashed Doc's Froyo 7.6.1 and previously 7.5 and 7.6. On all versions I've been getting instant 100% force close on incoming calls.
I flashed JPA version and JPO both with same result.
Can anyone help me?
I've tried flashing original bell modem a la "JPK + JH2 modem" over Doc's Froywhich just took away the R symbol for roaming but calls still instantly force closing..
Interestingly enough, i can make calls and everything else works 100%.
I have avoided using ODIN for anything else because I know the i9000m series + odin = corrupt SD after a while...
Any suggestions or help? I dont get what could be causing these issues as I''ve seen other people flash Doc's froyo and have no problems what so ever...
Thanks
Seven
U P D A T E :
Thanks to all the guys who provided real help and support. It appears the solution to this problem is quite simple.
Steps:
1. Reboot into CWM recovery (the one that comes with Doc Rambone's froyo builds..)
2. Select Advanced CWM features
3. Clear Dalvik Cache
4. Reboot phone
5. Pure win! (fixed)

Jh2 full rom or jg8 full as well with odin unfortunately, no repartition, then proceed to reset to factory. After you have tested everything is fine proceed to flashing 7.62. And never reset while on froyo roms till we get bell froyo. Do not keep jh2 modem on froyo.

Ok, gonna give that a try.
Just re-flashed stock JH2, just finished factory reset. All go now gonna drop the SIM in and then try to call my phone and see what goes down..
It should work, then I should do what? install clockwork, reflash 7.6.1 doc froyo and it should work? Which one did you flash? JPA or JPO?
Should i keep the standard modem that comes with JPA/JPO froyo or should it just work straight out of the box?
Thanks a lot for the help man..

This didn't fix much.
Flashed stock jh2 like u said. everything works on that perfectly. flashed 7.6.2... FC instantly on calls..
I know there were some people experiencing the same things... any solutions?

put sim in, call yourself, put apn's for fido test for 850 3g do all the tests while youre on eclair. then get clockwork and flash 7.62. feeling im repeating myself so read up lol. any modem will do as long as its froyo cause if you stay on eclair jh2 modem minor anoyance is you wont see signal sternght in setting but more importantly battery will be **** cause phone will never truly sleep with it.. right now using jpd modem that comes with jpd firnware but had no problem with 7.62 jpp either although some reported great reception with reduced battery life.
again avoid firmware reset while on froyo cause youll most likely lose 850 that way.

I'm not sure this occured with 7.5.. Damn it though now I can't remember.
Gonna try that again and see whats up. Crap I hope i dont corrupt my SD..
this is my second galaxy S.
So you haven't tried with 7.6 or 7.6.1, 7.6.2?

will do now. not calling myself at this hour though

well just put on vibrate mang this info could really prove useful.
So you're going to update right now? if you do... just put it on vibrate and phone yourself real fast plzz
thanks for the help mang, you rock

dont even have another phone guy. not waking up the wife trying to steal hers.

Ok.. 7.6 and up cause instant Force Close on i9000m.
7.5 works absolutely flawlessly. Thank god I kept all the files mang. Going back to that and hope i never have to touch this crap ever again.

that is odd, i don't have the same problem as you. ill leave my phone specs here if it helps you in any way. i'm also running doc7.6.2 with kernal 2.6.32.9
baseband: I9000XXJPP
kernal: 2.6.32.9
build: froyo_doc_v7.6.2_JPA.XWJPA

in approx one hour doc comes online. please report to him.

My gf's phone went through the upgrade to 7.6.2 and no issues so far. This is the steps, she went from stock JH2:
1) Copy the ROM, update.zip to internal SD
2) Reboot phone to recovery, reinstall package to load CWM
3) Choose ROM zip file and install
4) Choose to reboot to recovery (load the ULF kernel CWM)
5) Choose RFS Overkill (a=ext 4)
6) Choose factory reset without backup
7) Reboot the phone, done!
You might want to try re-dowload the ROM, and sometimes the files are corrupted in these free-storage sites. I will send a PM to Doc so that he can post checksum on all the files.

I tried many diff configurations. stock to 7.6.2, stock to 7.6, then to 7.6.1.. I also tried, original stock to 7.5 to 7.6 then to 7.6.1 and then .2.. none of them worked (as in, instant force close on incoming calls) except for stock to 7.5 which worked perfectly.
I followed the instructions exactly as instructed on Doc's thread and this is not the first time i hear about force close on incoming calls.. it must be something thats not compatible as I also tried Dark's froyo and also force close on incoming calls.
I'm sticking with 7.5 JPA as it works perfectly and battery life is great. No lag fixes or file system changes as this is one of the suspected things to further exasperate the corruption of internal SDs on the i9000m. As I'm on my second phone, I'm not risking anything.. No need for a lag fix anyways... Tw3 by GTG makes the interface speedy and it works much better than all other launcher alternatives out there

Any one tried this.
Im installing it now
http://incredibleroms.com/roms/jager/
I'll give it a try.
Failed on install in Rom Manager.
Reverting to leaked 2.2 now.
Bummer it looked great without sense.
Jager : Update
I got it up and running well. I installed it using ROM Manager, wiped the cache and let it do its thing. Something odd though. I cant seem to get the "Checking phone storage" icon in the status bar to go away. 720p recording, 8mp camera, wireless tether and adw launcher are all included and working. Im going to try to get ahold of the developer, seems like some good work.

Edit
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Its 2.2 through and through. Im giving it another shot and reinstalling it to troubleshoot the "Checking phone storage" error.
also failed for me in rom manager, coming from 2.2 sense leak

Fantastic rom although it took me a few time to get it to work. Here is what i did. (Tried it from rom manager and no go)
In recovery,
1. to wipe/factory reset.
2.wipe cache partition,
3. then go to advanced options at the bottom and format cache.
4. Format dalvik cache (not sure if this was necessary but i did it just in case)
5. Reboot
After a couple of minutes you will be good to go.
So far no real bugs in fact it less buggy than the stock froyo and skyraider and quicker it seems
Performance- Linpack results
Peak so far - 40.707 MFLOPS, .13 secons
avg - 38-39 MFLOPS .14 seocnds
Fully de-odexed and slim
I like it a lot so far but just my opinion but you should def try it out

...
Thanks dude. Let me know what the deal is. Also, something to look into, when you answer your phone, the htc sense slide up slide down is appearing, not the slide deal. Looking forward to trying out your work.

Which version are you using, because i am using 2.2.4 but when i tried the previous one which was 2.2 it didnt work. when i check about 45 mins ago the old one 2.2 was back up and the version i am on 2.2.4 was taken down for some reason. I just checked a second ago and the latest one is back up, so try that one if you havent yet, but dont use rom manager because it doesnt work for some reason and follow the steps that i put up
installed this rom and I had no data connection. Rest the phone and no luck, also did a battery pull and still no data. Did *228 and let it reset after programming and all seems to be working fine. Thanks for a great rom.

its back up now
This is an unusal situation but eventually everyone should be able to get it, like i said it took me a couple of trys. Its deferent than most roms because this on actually forces a full wipe, which is def unusual. Also one thing i noticed when i put it in the cooker just to see the specs and it show "unsecured boot" which is unusal for roms to have
Yea it is back up.
Some bugs I found:
Search feature is not working from home screen.
At first install the messages app doesent seem to be installed correctly and for some reason their is no phone app in the launcher home row.
MMS does not work
couldn't get teh wireless tether in AP mode working

Clemsyn's BEST FROYO w/ REBOOT PROTECTION (BETA3) ENG/SPanish ONLY 12-3-2010

OK guys, My solution to the reboot data corruption is to install an ODEX version. I figured out that the DALVIk-CACHE was the main culprit, thus with an odexed version there are less data written to the DALVIK-CACHE.
USE l1q1d's latest 11/29 kernel.
This is my latest build BETA 3 protection. I have made changes on the way partitions are mounted, extra mount options added to /data to decrease writes and more speed. All apps in data are automatically odexed and a few apps in system folder is odexed. Wifi tether, skyfire, estrong file explorer etc were moved to system to provide more space in data partition for odexing apps. Few files in the build are replaced.
BETA3
http://www.4shared.com/file/yDdKUQcL/androidinstall_8.html
HOW TO INSTALL:
1. Clear Dalvik-cache and repair permssions
2. Install androindinstall.tgz
3. Install all your apps, MAKE SURE YOU INSTALL TERMINAL EMULATOR
4. Open Terminal Emulator and type:
su
sh /system/bin/odex.sh (This will odex your apps without rebooting)
Wait till it is finish.
5. Reboot
6. Make sure you press the D-Pad while reboot to enter LAUNCHER
7. Clear-Dalvik cache
THAT"S IT Hope this helps and let me know how it goes.

Rename to androidinstall.tgz and install system/data on NAND
Requirements and tips:
1. LATEST 11-27 kernel by l1q1d 2.6.32
2. Install system and data on NAND only
3. Radio 1.65 - 1.70 (reported issues with 1.71 have been noted but not verified)
4. Overclock and Reboots should be done within reason
5. If you press the power button and it seems like it is not responding, It's on Fake Vsync mode. Open keyboard and press FN+Left Soft button, then FN+ Right Soft button and it should wake it up.
BTW, if you were having any issues with my Final Release, it would be the same issues with this build. This is basically just an ODEX'd Version of my Eng/Spanish ROM

A chance of data corruption since it is deodexed and would have more data written in dalvik-cache. Simply clearing out the dalvik cache and fixing permissions should help. With an Odexed build, there are less data written in dalvik cache coz the data is with the odex files.
thank you!
is there a way, to install it as an update?
so that it won't delete everything?
just rename it to "androidupdate" instead of "androidinstall"?

OK, did my igo GPS to go to McDonalds, did some browsing at McDo then went home played some music, pulled out the battery while playing music...STILL NO loop, FC or lost app...so far so good. If this is OK for 24 hrs, I'll take off the beta label.
could you please also update the corresponding one for installation on system/NAND and data/SD?
I tried the version of system/NAND and data/SD with the latest the kernel. it crashed and rebooted many times.

I don't think this odex will work with SD coz I haven't tried it. I suggest you try to Final release instead of this odexed beta for NAND installation. The main purpose of this release is to attempt to fix data corruption on NAND installation (which so far this odex version has done for me at the moment).
Update:
Pulled the battery out and reboot was OK. Ate dinner with the family. Went back and was stuck on white screen. Was on massive Fake Vsync so I pulled the battery out and restarted. Looks good except my Launcher had no app (black blank), it might have been loading but I pulled the battery out again....Turned it on and everything is back as it should, no FC no rpc loop, every app back in launcher. Still looks good.
Hey clem I'm testing ur SD build with latest l1qu1d's kernel (11-27) its rock solid but kinda sluggish... how's ur new build in speed? I mean, its odexed.. that's a pro, but I have my doubts bout having cache on the SD (look at my sig, I'm using a class 2 SDHC) could it be compared to a NAND or its more lika a SD installation?

Yeh, class 2 is pretty slow so that is your slow down. I would you ask you try this odexed build for NAND installation on both system and data. So far so good for my testing.

Thanks for trying it I think we really got it this time. I was driving with Igo Running, asked my wife to pull out the battery while Igo was running (this usually gives me errors and requires reinstallation) and locked on a signal. Then turned it back on...no errors, no loops, all apps still in my Launcher.
I will build an all language after 24 hrs of testing this.
Hey Clemsyn! Thanks for this build, I'm testing right now. So far so good. Turned off, turned on. Pulled battery, Still working.
Now I have a question, Way before, when I used Vanilj Eclair, I never had any problems with data corruption. I used the build for like 3 months before I decided it was time to upgrade to a more Up-to-date Android Build for my Kaiser. My main point is, Why is it just now that there are problems with Data corruption??? Thanks!

[ROM] Roto JME Pre-Rooted Firmware v4 [Jan 9, 2011]

Ok, I finished rooting/packaging JME for yous guys.
If you want to install ClockWorkMod, use CF-Root as its tested to work with Roto-JME and it does not change your filesystem format!
Get it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10053743&postcount=1
Flash CF-Root after Roto-JME has completed its installation rebooting and you test that Roto-JME is working ok.
These firmwares are for any GSM Tab, whether you have protected bootloaders or not. They don't contain and won't install protected bootloaders either.
All the files are here:
http://files.deodexed.com/ModADroid-Galaxy-Tablet/Rotohammer/JME/
Please backup your apps and settings with Titanium Backup from the market.
Write down ALL your current APN settings in Settings/Wireless/Mobile/Access Point Names/, the one with the green dot next to it. There is 14 settings in all.
New Jan 9, 2011 Roto-JME-v4
Fixes:
Full landscape Swype
OpenVPN works with CF-Root
Diodict FC fix
added car home
added all language locales
full version wipes sdcard
slipped Program Monitor widget back in

a945da9d28945132de1f509d1a1ee51b Roto-JME-Upgrade-v4.zip
From the feedback I've got so far, if you run a stock or JJx version firmware, you must flash the Full firmware with the pit file. If you have any JMx firmware currently, then you can flash the Upgrade firmware without the pit file.

The best option is to backup all your data/apps, flash Roto-JME-FmtIntSD.tar with the PDA button and partition with P1_add_hidden.pit. Flash the Addon-JME-Modem with the Phone button as well, or some other modem of your choice, as its going to be erased due to partitioning. Thats a nice clean setup, guaranteed to work the best
Use the upgrade if you already have a lot of apps installed and you feel lucky. Don't use the pit file with the upgrade firmware. Worst case is you flash the whole enchilada later. Backup your data anyways before hand.
Flash using Odin, using PDA button for any file you flash. If you need/want to flash the addons too, use the PHONE and CSC buttons, they all do the same thing.
Note: Anyone who flashed a previous Roto-JME-Upgrade.tar and now wants the *#1234# to show the correct values, just re-download/re-flash this file and you'll be fixed.

To get the customary question out of the way, by "everyone," you mean all carriers and locations can use this package?
You, sir, are a steely eyed missile man.
I don't have the thanks button (I run the classic theme) but consider yourself thanked.

I was referring to the bootloaders, but, these firmwares are for any GSM Tab.
Is this fast like jmc? I read some people complaining about lag with flash in this rom? Differences youvee seen vs jmc please. Thanks. Anyway to build these to flash through clockworkmod? To streamline the way to do it? I am on the edge of returning my tab i feel the lag is causrd by the increased resolution and the processor is loaded trying to keep up. Maybe im wrong. I am currently stock with root and oclf installed. I was going to try roto-jmc tonight before making up my mind. I still have hope for this tab after seeing nero v3 on wifes vibrant its blazing fast.

ClockworkMod only works with a stock firmware at the moment. Flashing with Odin is pretty easy though. Just like all the past Android phone, things start off sluggish but as more developers jump onboard, device performance increases. JME feels the best to me so far.
Someone like you could give us a better review of JME since you strongly know what you dislike about stock.
Roto you are the man!

Thanks roto...did upgrade from JMC to JME plus the cashe...so now got all samsung apps..not just the 2 like many reported....seems fine at present...so hopefully stay that way...
Thanks again roto..

I've been using JME for about one hour now and I wanted to post my first impressions. It is definitely snappier than JMC, but other than that I have not found any other advantages. Still no Samsung boot logo (not a big deal), but I am glad that I upgraded.
Hey Roto, just want to say thanks for all the awesome work you do for our Galaxy Tabs. You've made my experience that much more enjoyable. I would like to know if it is safe to flash your JME update package over the JM6 firmware I have now or do I need to flash something else first before I do JME.
Ill flash it tonight and let you know rotohammer
Only questions i have is.
Can i get back to stock? T-Mobile usa
Also will this make call after flashing your jme i only use it for wifi currently so 2g isnt a biggie yet

Yes, I posted the files to get back to stock T-mobile. Yes, you'll be able to make calls, but not with the T-Mobile internet only SIM card though.

That's pretty weird, I am stuck on Samsung logo at start, even though Odin tells me the flash was successful...
I am coming from JMC and just ran the upgrade...
Edit: reflashed it just in case, same story. I get the Samsung animated screen and then get to the Samsung logo where it stays stuck.. (Gives a vibration and blinks every 30sec that's all)

Try flashing:
Use the PIT included in the original post.
This will enable Reformat, that is fine.
PDA: Roto-JME-FmtIntSD
CSC: Addon-JME-Hidden
Phone: (whatever modem you need)
Flash. You shouldn't have any issues then.
If you are upgrading, its common to get these issues and you're pretty much stuck without doing a restore and losing ur data anyways. Thats why Roto recommends you do a titanium back up BEFORE flashing.

Mmh ok so my only way to go through is to erase everything
I did back up a few stuff (Not everything) but that's a pain... Unlucky I guess...
That said I didn't check in detail but I guess Titanium backs up everything on the SD Card so I should not let it be reformated, no ?
Hi there,
I just got my Galaxy Tab 2 days ago. I am with bell, and it is not on any contract...
I currently have a galaxy s (although it is in at bell for repair (internal sd issue)).
Do i first need to flash to JM6 before flashing to JME (as provided in the thread: Flashing Guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=886714)?
If i do, what files am i supposed to flash with? Or should i wait until the guide has been updated with the correct files?
Thanks to anyone who is able to help!
I've been using my tab with your new firmware for 2 hours and it's a blissful experience! Everything works perfectly and smoothly. 2010 finishes happily
Thank you.

AT&T SGH-I317 - terrible cell signal after flashing rom

Ok, I'm about to pull my hair out trying to fix this. About a month ago I flashed Scott's CleanROM ATT SE 1.5. Before that I was rooted, but on stock rom. I really just wanted to get all the ridiculous bloatware off my Note 2. Anyway, the flash worked fine, but afterwards my call signal descreased dramatically. It's not always terrible in certain places in my city, but I miss a lot of calls, sometimes at home it shows the circle with a line through it, showing no service at all. Many times, I will have 2 or 3 bars, but when I go to make the call I lose service altogther.
I reflashed the rom, flashed another rom and now am running stock rooted I317UCALK7. Nothing has changed with my call reception.
It wasn't like this before I flashed CleanRom. In doing my research I've found a few people with similar problems, but no real solution. I know that flashing a modem is worth a try, but I've not found any information that can point me to the right modem for my area. I think I'm using the same modem that came stock on my phone and worked in the beginning.
Any thoughts or experience with this?

Honestly... if your objective was to get all the ATT bloatware off your Note 2, you should flash CleanROM ACE 4.6.1 This one is built off the N7105XXDMB3 International base (not the ATT base which SE 1.5 is built from). I'm on ATT network and have been running the International CleanROM since December... absolutely love it.. great performance... never an issue. During install on 4.6.1, just select ATT as your carrier and select the ATT signal icons (if those are the ones you wish to utilize). Also during install, you can select (via Aroma installer) which Google and Samsung apps you want/ don't want to install. As far as the radio, you can flash modem separately (since it writes to it's own partition) and see which one works best for you. I am currently running the UCAMA4 ATT modem on the N7105XXDMB3 rom. Here's a link I posted regarding this modem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=38056319&postcount=10
Again, if you objective is to minimize the ATT bloat, go with CleanROM ACE 4.6.1.... select ATT as your carrier... and try either the more recent MA4 ATT modem or the previous LK7 modem for signal reception. Hope this helps.

ok so now your running stock rooted, if you want to debloat search for mr robinson's debloater, its aroma installer as well as DoctorQMM has mentioned. if you are looking for modems, you have 3 options available lj2, lk7 and latest ma4. you said your phone is running lk7? if you have a custom recovery what im going to ask you will not matter. have you checked for system updates or tried flashing stock rooted deodexed ma4? i would try lj2 modem and see if my signal cleans up, since you mentioned it was fine before SE 1.5.

Well, I have flashed all three modems without any change. Seems very strange. Don't really know what to do.
I would Odin flash back to 100% stock...use triangle away from the market to your phone. .and not allow it to update via the ota update that will be pushed to your phone when you do.
See if this corrects the issue. If it doesn't. .take your phone in for service.
If it does fix it...re-root...download twrp...make a nand backup of your stock/rooted phone and save it to your external sd card.
Then you can go about de-bloating your phone.
Personally. ..I think you have had a bad download of cleanrom to start..and possibly a bad sim card afterwards.
It happens from time to time. .but by flashing back to stock. .resetting your counter to normal. .you can at least return your phone if necessary.

Thanks Mac, that's kind of what I was thinking. As I search these forums and the internet, it's difficult to pin down a source for my original stock rom. I was a newb at the beginning of this, so no, I did not make a backup of my original rom. If it wouldn't take too much time, would anyone be able to point me to a stock rom for my particular phone?

Ugh. Ok, so I got as far as using Odin, passing, but then got stuck on boot at the Samsung logo. Everything I read said to reboot into stock recovery, but I can't seem to do that. When I'm stuck, the only way I know of turning off the phone is to take the battery out. I put it back in and quickly press volume-up, home, and power. But it simply boots back to the Samsung logo and stays there with the logo pulsing.

Alright, I know I am on the home stretch, just one more hurdle. So, I have been working on getting the damn custom binary counter reset since last night. Right now the downloading screen lists, "Custom Binary Download: Yes (1 counts) Current Binary: Samsung Official System Status: Official"
I ran Triangle Away before I unrooted, multiple times in fact, I just can't ever get the counter to go to 0. I read somewhere, that if I am simply taking the phone into AT&T and not sending to to Samsung, then they don't actually check the binary counter. Anyway, I'm just really tired of dealing with this.

I did a factory reset each time. I just did another one. I'm still at 1 binary count. I am unrooted right now, so I guess I need to reroot and try again?
Pull your external sd card and leave it out. ...delete super user..busy box..your custom recovery... factory reset..let phone settle then power off..
Boot it back up.. and go through the first time set up..Don't Update It... see what it says then.
Then check your signal and data.See if the issue is resolved. You might not have to take it back. ..but I would just for peace of mind.

I did it! lol
Used this (http://rootgalaxys3iii.com/how-to-reset-rooted-galaxy-note-2-flash-counter/) to finally get Triangle Away to work on my phone and then did factory reset.

Good..make sure you do a nand back up of your stock rooted phone before you do anything else to it..if you are going to re-root that is.
I have a seperate 16 gig external micro sd card..that all it has on it is that..my music and my movies..It's worth the peace of mind and very conveniant having it backed up and saved off my phone on it's own disc..

I ended up having to take my phone back to AT&T and get a new one. It seems that this is a problem with a certain batch of Note 2's. When I went in for repair, a girl came in with the exact problem with her Note 2. Anyway, they gave me a new phone and it has been fine ever since.

[Req] Best mod with much less bugs for I927R

Hi
Guys i need your help. Pleas can someone tell me for now what mods is much better for I927R (Also withe very stability and with much less bugs) ?!
I found Liquid Smooth but it have some problem so i need your guide about other mods.
Thank you
ICS Roms are the best and most stable... Stock ICS from AT&T UCLJ3 or any roms based off of it ... Dman's daily driver, Ice Pop Rom by RawRaw, LiteRom by TheGreaterGood...
Unfortunately none of those are being maintained but I had been running Dman's for the last couple months, great battery life when paired w/ JuiceDefender (20+hours of heavy use when I'm not sleeping).
Now the newest CM10.1 by Spyke seems pretty solid ... Just a couple of issues.
ICS is the only one you'll get bug free, though. Stock is hard to compete with when we're pairing up roms without a true Devdeloper.
On this subject, I've just reverted back to using IcePop ROM after (unhappily) downgrading from Spyke's latest 10.1 ROM - just mainly because of the Bluetooth headset issue, which I really need working for work purposes.
I'm just wondering if there are any ICS builds that have GPS working correctly? I tried flashing the Rogers modem (since my phone was originally a Rogers import, flashed to AT&T ICS, then played with ICS from there) and first time I ran GPS status it took 771 seconds... I'm going to keep trying just in case that was the first time only, but 12 minutes is still a very long time for an initial fix .
Also - I've found that I'm getting more and more bootloop problems even with clean installs - so wiping cache, data, dalvic, etc. Is there some way to do a *thorough* wipe without bricking the phone? I can back all my data up no worries, but next time I move to JB (in the optimism that the BT issues will be fixed soon, judging by the positive progress being made by Spyke ) I would like to do a clean build from scratch and not have to gamble being able to start the phone up again
David - I always go into mount options of CWM and format /system prior to a new flash .. I'm not sure if flashing with Odin will get rid of any previous settings, its something to attempt though.
I, also, had reverted to using JB Because GPS wouldn't work ... There's a thread in here (search for it) that shows the solution to the GPS fix, its editing sirgps.conf and gps.conf ... I was getting a fix on GPS in under 30 seconds.... GPS was a huge let down in the stock ICS rom, Even when using TheGreaterGoods LiteRom w/ GPS fix I found after a couple of days my gps didn't hold....
Thanks for the reply.
I was considering formatting /system this morning when I was getting stuck in a boot loop from trying to get M3 running, but decided it was a risk I'd have to check up on first . Next time I do a build from scratch (I'm going to resist until the BT stuff is working - fingers crossed!) I'll do that.
I remember having a look at the gps.conf fix but don't recall anything about sirgps.conf - so I will look it up, thanks!
As an aside, I've been checking the GPS fix a couple of times since my last post and it is coming up in under 30 seconds each time... I'm wondering if my attempt to flash the Rogers modem did in fact fix the issue... I'd do a reboot but I'm too scared I won't get the phone up again XD
EDIT:
Found the fix, I did a few of the changes (rather than all of them), and it's now picking up 8 satellites instead of 3-5, and getting a stronger signal from each... and all I did was point it to the AU ntp server, and tell it I'm not on the ATT network . I'll save the suggested settings to a text file on my SD card so next time I'm out and about and if it plays up I'll have access to the details.

Had to restart my phone tonight and got caught in a boot loop again... after trying a few things I flashed Lite Kernel (I'm still using ICS again at the moment) and that seems to have solved the boot loop issues. I'm thinking that with all the ROM flashing I've been doing the fact that I actually had the phone running without flashing an ICS specific kernel (after running JB) was screwing things up.
Interestingly though, I tried installing Spyke's M3 ROM from a complete user wipe, system format, everything gone - and I still got a boot loop so next time I try it I'll grab a copy of LiteKernel and do that separately.

That has to be very concerning to you, I've never had an issue booting any ROM. And very strange flashing the Kernel separately would resolve your booting issues...
Did you try to flash any of the stock roms w/ Odin ? I have read that we can only flash back to stock Gingerbread from JellyBean if we flash a GB or ICS CWM ROM and then go back with Odin otherwise there will be boot issues.
If I were in your position I would try and do a full revert back to the earliest version of gingerbread I could find on samfirmware and then use Kies to udpate - THEN I would retry flashing to a newer JB or ICS Rom.
Pretty time consuming but that is the price we pay to mod

My phone has an issue, simple I couldnt reboot it, I must power off and wait a little. You can try it when you flash something, just remove battery and usb cable, and wait 2 minutes, before you turn on.

Not yet. I'll have to check which ones I have - I'm certain I have the AT&T ICS rom from November but then I'd have to go digging through my email for the unlock code again, so I'm trying to avoid doing that at this point . If i can find the stock GB Rogers rom at some point I might flash that one back on before I do any more upgrades. The phone is up and running at this point though, so I'm not too fussed. I've also noticed that it's a little quicker than before so I think the version of LiteKernel I installed was a good idea anyway.

I've tried pulling the battery a few times, but probably no longer than 30 seconds. Next time I'll give it a couple of minutes. I tend to do this late at night when I'm not expecting any calls (except fire brigade but I have a pager for that too) so time without a phone is no issue to me
Yesssss
After much irritation at continually getting stuck in boot loops again, I've 'Oneclicked' the phone twice, got fed up with the AT&T ICS ROM within about 5 minutes, gave up on IcePop because of buggy GAPPS...
And thought, bugger it. Format /system. Factory reset. Clear cache + Dalvik. Installed in this order:
Jellybean 4.2 ROM from 0217
Spyke's M3 update
PAC rom
GAPPS dated 0427
"Kick-ass Kernel"
and it BOOTED FIRST GO
I am pleased
Does JB need already to be installed before putting the M3 revisions on? Maybe that's where I've been going wrong all along, because my attempts at running both the standard M3 and PAC ROM (even immediately after OneClicking) resulted in boot loops or eternal boot loading.
Uhh... what do you mean by "One Clicking" ??
I know there's a "superoneclick" that will flash and root the rom all at once, but I never personally found it to work for our glides.
Using CWM and installing the ROM through the CWM boot menu is severaly key presses so ... not too sure what you're referring to.
Also, I've always downloaded to a hardwired computer then copied over USB to my phone and flashed ... sometimes the download will have errors if I grab it from my phone.
I'm assuming it's a variant of SuperOneClick... The title is 'Odin3Excution v1.85' and then underneath it says 'I927UCLG9_OneClick'.
And it worked just fine, I did have a stock rom that I tried to flash with Odin but it kept giving me errors, the OneClick method worked.

Interesting... for future reference, www.samfirmware.com has the stock firmwares, then there's the superUser file floating around the forums that allows you to root by flashing it. Passed that, remove bloat.
Glad you got it working! Welcome to JB
