[Q] Accurate battery mod? - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

When i had my Vibrant we were able to flash an accurate battery mod that would take the battery status icon and add percentages and such. Is this possible on the g2 now that we have perm root?

Yes, it's possible. Somebody needs to make one.

ha. yea. i would say its probably possible with root. plus a ton of other stuff that no1 has had a chance to get around too yet.
can you image a gpu hack for more ram? lmao.

cyanogenmod will have it

Setcpu

Is anyone using setcpu? I bought it back when I had the hero but I'm not sure if it will work now on this phone. I'm rooted using toast's method if that even matters for something like this. thanks in advance!
It's the same CPU as the Nexus and it has settings for the Nexus, so in theory it should work. I had a Nexus before this phone and it worked fine.
I believe, like the Hero, you need a kernel tweak to have true overclocking.
yeah I dont wanna overclock i just want to downclock when the screen is off to save battery. I tried using the nexus one settings but it didnt seem like it was working using on demand. The clock speeds it was showing were kind of goofy. Guess i should wait for the programmer to update it

what?!? what do you mean u dont want to oc... theres always room for more speed!
true that but i have always been nervous about burning up the processor hehe
Overclocking would be nice, but I'd also like to save some battery with the on demand profile. Does anyone have it working?
I posted a patch in a thread in the development forum that would enable full support, plus overclocking, but nobody seems to have noticed it.
I might have to buy an EVO just to compile and test kernels... Or, if anybody wants to help me, shoot me a PM.
I used the unrevoked method to root and picked the N1 for the device in setcpu and it seems to be working great with the on demand setting. I have noticed a nice increase in battery life so far.

Is it linked or built-in?
If it's linked I'd be more than happy to test!
yea i use 1.5.4 pro edition... i make it go to 245mhz while idle/sleep... it works perfectly... and it runs 'ondemand'... if you dont need speed it wont go... i keep it to start at boot, and have ATK to ignore it so it doesnt close... theres no lag btw when it moves back to 998mhz

[Q] Display sucking battery dry

This could be a normal thing but I've never really paid attention to my battery life until now. Since I have rooted and switched to different roms my battery life has been sub-par. Since using Desire-Z the life has improved, but still not as good as it was before I rooted.
Anyway, it says the display is taking up 89% of my usage which I find obsurd. I had the brightness set down to 30% so I don't see how it's possible. Could it be I have a very vibrant wallpaper set? Should I tone it down? The screen is set to turn off after a minute but when I'm done i typically lock it manually. Other than the wallpaper i don't see what I can do differently???
Is there some bug that I don't know of, is it just a false reading? Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.
go to ziggy471.com and try his latest nov kernel,14th I believe, and give it a try. after that try dl setcpu and just setup a profiles for when the screen is off to run under 600 mhz. thats what I do and get pretty good batt life. otherwise try some other kernels and see how they work out. another thing I actually don't know how much the display sucks from the battery but I keep my auto-bright off and display at like 10% maybe all the time

This seems to be the case with both the Desire Z and HD ROMs. I'm not exactly sure why but it happens to me and I saw a few other people talking about this.
I had a lot of trouble with this also... with stock battery I was lucky to get 8 hours out of the phone... I bounce between CM and MIUI and it seem the newest MIUI rom has greatly improved this issue... it did however introduce a new battery hog with the wireless drivers, but atleast that can be addressed with some tasker profiles or by manually turning it on and off. Im only 2 days into this rom and not quite ready to give someone a hug for the improvements yet, but i seems as though things are much better.

Non Root Battery Percentage

If like me your waiting to root and rom but want a battery percentage instead of stock battery img. I found an application that places a battery percentage over the stock image. I like this instead of having two battery notifications in the bar.
Not perfect, stays on while in full screen apps but is easy to disable from app drawer when playing games or whatever.

Why are you waiting to root? You're using a Google device that is specifically geared towards development lol.
Or u can use Super Status bar....Its friggen aWESOME. It also has in-App-purchases, so u can buy extra status bar MODs. its replaces then whole status bar. Theres a free version, so u can get a feel for it. It works really well, and has no ill effects on the battery
Or use Quicker. Only a few pence and puts a little battery percentage in the status bar along with your stock battery. P.S. Why would you be waiting for a root? The phone was rooted before it got released, it is a developers phone remember

Quicker just adds a second battery. My ocd can only handle one battery notification.

Can someone post up their battery usage.

I'm not thrilled about mine. Its OK, but seems a little much. Just looking to confirm.
This time stamp is inaccurate. Just wondering about the os usage. Anyone else near this?
Without context battery stats can be misleading......
That said your system usage seems high. What ROM are you running? What programs are installed? Is your phone sleeping when the screen is off? What have you already done to trouble shoot the issue? Etc, etc?

Would you mind posting up the other screen. If 85+ % android system is normal then I won't worry about it. Just curious. Battery life isn't terrible. Just seems like a super high number.
I'm on rooted el30. No major mods. Stock kernel. I put a little battery mod w uot kitchen. I leave my data on and GPS . Pretty much everything w sync set out as far as it will go time wise.
Like I said, if high android system is normal for an epic 4g then I won't sweat it...but if most people don't see these numbers then I will Odin and start over haha
I'm on CM7 (stock). After 14hrs of very little usage my Android System is at 2%.
What are your use details on that?
How about someone w a tw based rom. I'm sure aosp will have different readings than tw. Thank you though.
Slightly different yes...drastically different, no.

Looks right to me if you have about 20 minutes of usage and then it depends on what you are doing. Everything reports as Android System in Gingerbread.

I can handle that. Thanks.

Over clocking???

Dear ppl of this fourm you kick butt. I was able to unlock and root my g power 2022. I'm a little nervous I can't get twrp back up working, I know it's out there I just want it more main stream.
Here's my question. Over clocking is it possible on this phone. The battery is great and at the end of a long day I'm well over 60% I'd love to turn the clock up on this phone. All the apps you see on ps don't do anything, they also say 2301 is the max mhz. Is it a locked CPU????
Thanks for your time guys and girls
Overclocking a phone is not advisable, because of the extremely limited cooling capacity.
Also, don't use profanity on XDA. Post edited.
I'm very sorry about that. Thanks for fixing it.
I did some bench marks of my phone and the temp bearly moved. I understand the heat that builds up during over clocking and also that mounting a water cooling solution is not possible. I just wondered if it was possible to move the cpu clock ???
Any other ideas on speeding it up??? I'm sure there is a ton I don't know about.
So I did find an app root booster. It's free for the basic over clocking and you can go extreme for a one time but. I am using the free version. And I picked up 6 points on 3d mark. The phone has been very stable all day. It's all preset stuff. Witch is probably better than trial and error.
