Ghost Armor? - myTouch 4G Accessories

Has anyone had any experience with these protectors?
My T-Mo screen protector is toast, after I accidentally dropped my keys in my phone hand, while getting out of the car. Big, annoying dent in the surface (better than in the phone, that's for sure).
The pack of replacements I got at the store were used and bent (taking them back, because that's bull****), but the cool T-Mo dude told me I should go get Ghost Armor instead. He had it on his HD2, and it looked decent enough. I don't think I'd want it to cover the whole phone (because of the docks coming out, and so forth), but I'm definitely interested in having it cover the screen.
What say you, forums?

I have ghost armoured every phone i have ever owned. They are great, prices seem to have gone up but they install it for you and once you have it and something is wrong (like say, your case where there may be a dent in the cover itself) you can have it completely replaced for 5 bucks. Only thing i say about it is MAKE SURE you baby the heck out of the phone for the first 24 hours, that is when you will screw it up!

I like the ghost armor a lot more than the zagg ones

I used Best Skins Ever on my G1 when I got it; still looks like the day I put it on (only covered the face, not the whole body) aside from a small spot on the screen edge where I would push with my thumbs to slide it open. Held up like a champ for over 2 years!
Here's the HTC section of their site: http://www.bestskinsever.com/catalogsearch/advanced/result/?manufacturer[]=19

Pretty sure Zagg and GA are pretty much the same exact thing.

So I just had mine applied, and it's obviously still drying. But, I have to say...
This looks like garbage-ass, in any amount of light.
The material has all kinds of bumps and imperfections on the surface that show up in the slightest amount of light. They didn't have the kits, so the dude did a notoriously bad job on a custom cut. There are pen marks all over the window tint material, and the cuts are not even, so the entire surface of the phone is not covered. Brilliant.
Dude rush-jobbed it in like 5 minutes, and was busy douching it up with a bunch of other customers, or else I would've just told him to re-do it.
It strikes me that standing up at a mall kiosk is probably not the best place to perform delicate work on smartphones.
Anyway, he told me the custom-cut kits for the myTouch 4G come next week, and then I can get my replacement for free. I plan on doing that. I asked him multiple times about that 'for free' thing, and he assured me that they don't charge for custom cuts while you wait for the kit.
So, we'll see. As it dries, it looks like someone rubbed oil all over the glass. That will change as the liquid evaporates, but to say that the material is 'crystal clear' (as they do) is a bit disingenuous.
The ****ty T-Mobile skins don't cover the whole front of the phone, and they scratch easily. They are super over-priced. That said, at least they are smooth as glass. Ghost Armor - at least when custom-cut by some dingus - looks like a bad window tinting job when the screen isn't on.
Update:
I don't think the dude properly lubricated the squeegee, nor did he clean or watch out for debris. My screen has a bunch of bubbles, and some spots look like they were stabbed with a ballpoint pen. Lame.
Besides the amateur hour rush job, I dislike how rubberized the screen becomes. If ever there were multitouch games, I could easily see them being unplayable, due to finger friction. But I guess that's the nature of the beast.

Zagg protectors take a little bit of getting used to.
When you get the temp one from the kiosk they will put the fitted one on for free when it comes in.
I remember getting one on my Nokia N900. After it was put on, it was sticky feeling, had bubbles, and also had this "orange peel" type of look.
But after 48 hours the screen protector seemed to tighten up, the bubbles disappeared, and it had a nice feel. After about a week it lost that "thick" feeling.
Stick with it and give it some time, you might be surprised.
Or you might totally hate it and pull it off after 5 days like my wife did when she got one.

Invisible Gadget Guard Screen Protector - Review

Review of the Invisible Gadget Guard | Screen Protector Shield for HTC Aria
Better then the one from at&t...
Size
...still just a little too big. The need to take a millimeter off the top. Also, the hole for the track button is a little to big... or I could have just stretched it while applying, but I'll get to that. Otherwise I am happy with the fit of the protector.
Application
Be afraid. If placing a near dripping wet "vinyl" sheet on your phone doesn't sound like a good idea, then this protector is not for you. This application method dose provide with a wide margin of error, if your like me and fail at applying screen protectors 50% of the time. The downside to this is as the protector will bend and wrinkle making smooth application difficult. Application tip: take the back off your aria and place the phone on a washcloth. That will allow the water that is forced out to run away from the phone and be caught by the washcloth.
Look
After application your display will appear off for a few min, but as the water evaporates, that will go away. The next day the display will be fairly clear, and not much worse then the hard plastic sticker screen protector. In my case the protector was not quite smooth, but that could be my 5 failed application attempts. While this is slightly annoying, is not a major issue.
Overall
This is not a bad screen protector, but has quirks that you may not like. It is better then the default at&t protector, but as new "hard" protectors come on the market, it will fall to you confidence and personal likes and dislikes as to if you choose this protector.
I tried this and totally ruined it. It looked like crap when it was on, with lots of gray areas, and the bubbles wouldn't all come out.
I tossed it in the trash and just chocked it up to more money wasted, because I read on the web that they will fight you tooth and nail if you try to get a refund.
When I did it I had that problem, but I pulled it off before it stuck, added more water and tried again. It really did take like 5 tries to more or less correctly apply the stupid thing.
Just installed mine. It seems a bit cloudy. I didn't think application was difficult, but the necessary use of water is unnerving. Hopefully it clears up as it dries.

Just got mine in the mail and applied it today. A bit difficult but it's pretty good. Just got that cloudiness like others have mentioned. I'm guessing these are fine, tiny bubbles. I read in a few places the cloudiness will take sometime to dry up (about a week to cure completely). Apparently this material is tough stuff and if the cloudiness disappears, it'll all be worth it xD
Hope it clears up. Keep us posted. Still trying to decide which screen protector to buy.
Great review. You almost have to install these things in a clean room with robotic surgical devices to get them perfect.
I ended up going to bestbuy the other day and getting a zagg for an incredible. It was just a smidge bigger but came out damn near perfect. It is almost the exact size in width and the speaker is perfect, but the bottom is just about a 1/2 too long, so I had to trim and use a hole punch. Super disappointed in zag for not releasing the right cover. Jessica from zagg tells me that they have a cover the they are not releasing it yet and have no release date in sight. grrrrrr. I know the hd mini zagg is supposed be a good fit to, but bb did not stock that cover.
A few days on, and the cloudiness persists...anyone seeing any improvement?

That's interesting, given that it's on their web site and I didn't see anything that said it was not yet available. Of course, they might tell you that AFTER they take your money. But I could just be cynical.
Post Script: I've got the Invisible Gadget Guard, and it's ok. What's perfectly applied is fantastic. But there are some places where it looks like there are small air bubbles underneath. Reapplying simply changed the pattern. They were originally annoying but, 2 days later, are decidedly less so. However, positioning is a pain.

A quick check in here.
I purchased mine on Ebay from a seller called jusage. I paid a cool $7.67 for the Invisible Gadget Guard film PLUS car charger (generic 12v cigarette lighter adapter to micro-USB), and FREE shipping. A pretty good deal, in my view.
Unlike Zagg's, the kit includes neither a vial of "Apple sauce", nor a swath of chamois, not a squeegee. But I installed Zagg's films many time before and am quite comfortable with just a sauce of water (with one 1 tiny drop of dishsoap), a credit card, and a microfiber towel.
The fit is ideal. All cutouts are perfect. The film went on without any issues. After having dried overnight, the film is invisible now.
Same here I got the Gadget guard from ebay with the charger.. Only took 5 mins and let it dry good to go. And the charger is not a to much of a POS!!

9 days since I first installed, and all the cloudiness is gone...in fact, I had forgotten about it all week, and actually thought of it this morning and had to look for edges to see if it was even on there! Patience is key, but I have to say after a week, you can't even tell I have it on there.
Fit = perfect, no bubbles, no cloudiness...
Definitely giving the Gadget Guard 5 stars...highly recommend.

Ditto. I put mine on about a week ago. Application was easy. It is certainly not "invisible" as I can still tell it's there. The cloudiness is gone, it did take a while. There are no air bubbles like you would see with cheap protectors. It was easy to install, I ordered it from amazon and paid a few bucks more than most people, but I'm happy with it. Now, if only my amzer argyle case would ship...
I put the invisible gadget guard on about a week ago, I wouldn't say I'm having issues with cloudiness, as much as little pin sized dots all over the place, in clumps (which could be the so called "cloudiness"). its definitely not air bubbles as air bubbles would be bigger. Its causing a little pixel distortion on a plain white screen.
As I said, it has been almost a week and no real improvement.could anyone tell me if this is the same issue they are having or had? Or when these god forsaken dots will go away?!?
This was the first experience I've ever had with invisible gadget guard. I have however, applied three invisible shields (on other devices) with no such issue.
Thanks in advance for any input!

Overall I like it. Cloudiness disappeared but there's like two specks of dust under the guard. Just as long as it does the job, I'm not complaining.
Got the free car charger too. Hehe
I also purchased the Aria protector combo (screen + back + car charger) from jusage on eBay. Best-offered him $12 shipped which he promptly accepted. I ordered it the same day I ordered my phone from AT&T, hoping it would arrive at the same time or before the phone did. The phone arrive first, 2 days before the Gadget Guard.
Having read and viewed the installation instructions and video online (I was also sketchy about the water application), I decided to keep my phone untouched in the box until the protectors arrived. When they did, I washed my hands thoroughly before opening the box and removing the plastic from the phone. I washed my hands again before beginning the install of the protectors.
The fit of the film for the screen is dead-on. The fit for the back is okay, with cut-outs for the camera and htc logo. Make no mistake, due to the rubberized material, it's tricky to install the back film. I decided not to use water on the back (did on the screen though) because I wasn't sure the rubber wouldn't absorb the water or allow it to dry once the film was applied. I was meticulous with the application, using a credit card to slowly ease on the film from top to bottom before using a microfiber cloth (microfiber = no lint) to wrap the edges. When all was said and done, it looked pretty good. I had to peel back and re-install one edge of the screen to get rid of a pesky air bubble, but the back was pretty solid on my first try.
The next day, one of the top edges was peeling back. I pressed it back down and it re-adhered itself, but about 20 minutes later, it began peeling again...just enough to catch some lint. I tried 3 more times to clean it with water and reapply, but each time it would peel up. Finally I decided to just cut it off.
Today, two days later, the opposite corner started to peel up.
I emailed jusage through eBay and explained the situation to him. He replied the same day, apologizing for the trouble and saying he was sending me a replacement back film at no cost.
I'll update when I've received the replacement back film, but overall, I like this product. You can't beat the combo deal of a front and back protector film AND a car charger, all for $12 or less shipped to your door.

Zagg screen protector

Has anyone tried the zagg screen protector for the vibrant? I watched few scratch videos and it looks like it is very durable. What I didn't like is the part where you have to apply it wet. Has anyone tried them on vibrant or any other phone?

Mine shipped on Friday, I'll let you know as soon as I receive it and install it on the screen ... I got the easy kit, full application only to realize that I really only care about the screen ... the back is anyway cheap plastic and the phone already comes with a backup back cover ... meh, spilled milk ...

I have changed over to the Realook and I couldn't be happier. Much more clear and much smoother.
I have the Zagg Invisible shield (screen only).. I will say it works as advertised as far as protection....
my disappointment is that my screen no longer feels like glass... its harder to use Swype because the screen is kinda rubbery and ur finger(s) dont slide as easily.
ALSO can't swear it's the reason... but trying to (for example) move the cursor when ur texting.. like trying to go back and add a ".... the precision is off... i have to try several times to get the cursor in the right place (makes me miss having a trackball).. I dont recall if this problem existed before i got the shield.
Damn, I wish I had read reviews like these before I dropped closed to thirty bucks on this crap. The protector needs to "cure" but already I can see a couple small (1cm and 2cm) straight vertical lines that at first looked like cracks (I had to throw away that pair of underwear). "Fortunately" I read the recent posts to this thread and found out it's not a problem with the screen. I thought perhaps all the squeegeeing messed it up.
The positive: it protects the screen from accidental scratches and acts like a oleophobic coating that should resist oily fingerprints (I don't know about you but I need that, bad).
The negative: the screen is no longer smooth to the touch so gestures are a little buffered but more consistent (without the shield, it would be best when the screen was clean but it would get jerky when the oil built up); the crisp picture is a little dull.
I don't think the hassle is worth it but I bet when you get that first scratch you'll wish you had the shield on. The grass is always greener on the other side.
Last but not least, at $30 for a piece of plastic, Zagg really needs to deliver perfection. This is just shameful.
If you like the Zagg, you might try www.bestskinsever.com since they're basically the same exact thing, just half the cost. I had them on my G1 and liked it. They're presently working on a Vibrant skin.

Just request a full refund. They should honor their money back guarantee as long as you're still within the time period.
Just received mine and really am not disappointed with the product it is a little less glass like but is not hard to use swype, clarity seems the same and screen response is about the same I could tell a little drag with the screen nothing crazy,i will say onr thing that confuses me is the back cover does not even cover the edges which is very word to me considering that's the most likely part it will land on. I'd give it an overall 7 out of 10. For the price there are better alternatives but it willdo the job. As far as the vertical line problem I cannot comment on that as mine did not have that problem.

I took it off ... got tired of looking at the wavy pattern of the plastic and the two "imperfections" on the shield ... I'd rather look at scratches. Plus, trying to swype only to fall short of the letter I was aiming for got old quick (the skin loses momentum from the extra resistance that the membrane introduces).
Anyone who claims their screen looks roughly the same after the Zagg Shield treatment is smoking something that he/she should share with the rest of us.
I also contacted Zagg regarding a refund ... let's see how that goes.

Go get the Realook and you'll be very pleased. Search Realook Vibrant on Ebay and get it from the seller "realook". Shipping is free and super fast (I got mine in two days and other have reported next day delivery).

Thank you sir! I will check it out.
BTW, folks, if one searches for Samsung Galaxy Gorilla, one finds many references to the Galaxy S phones having a Gorilla screen that is scratch-resistant (which is an understatement for the kind of abuse they can withstand). Sounds to me like many of us wasted time and money to protect something that didn't really need the protection. Just my two cents (albeit very, very late).
Good luck to all with their screen protection strategy.
Ghost Armor...
Ghost Armor...look into it! thinner than invisible shield so it's more responsive and doesn't get that orange peel...same lifetime guarantee, overall better product!
Well I got my 2 zagg screens, applied first 2 nasty vertical lines on the screen. removed it next day. Applied second thought what are the chances in getting two defective screens... same thing but this time only 1 line. Keeping this one on until my realook arrives.
Love my screen. Invisi sheild ftw

I thought I'd input my 2 cents on this topic:
I got this directly from the manager of the 3M distribution facility for my area...
3M owns the patent for this kind of protection film.
Clearbra, Zagg, BestSkinsEver, basically anyone saying their product was designed for military use (on helicopter blades), they are all getting their materials from 3M. The only difference between vendors is the measurements they take, and ultimately the template they use for the application.
It sounds like Realook is a different material since it doesn't have that same rubbery feel to it, so they are probably not getting their stuff from 3M.

Having had both on my Vibrant I can tell you that they are definitely different material. The Zagg is flimsy rubber feeling material that requires water to install, the Realook is a harder plastic feeling material that appears to cling to the screen as it touches it.
After having both on the phone I can say without a doubt that the Realook is the superior product. It goes on easier, it's transparent, and it feels like the original glass.
Side note... I showed a buddy my phone the other day and he was playing around with it for a few minutes watching Avatar and playing a game. As he handed it back to me he said "you going to put a screen protector on there?" I said "It already has one". He looked again and he still couldn't tell that it was there, even after I told him.
Realook for the win!

Who is running nekkid???

I just pulled off my clearfreak cause I messed up the install and I have 2 more coming from the ebay sale, but I've noticed that even the clearfreak takes a bit away from the "nakedness" . I mean damn this screen is sexy and responsive.
Just wondering if anyone is using their phone on a daily basis without a screen protector, gel skin, or neither. How do you like it? How is it holding up?
**Might give away those two Clearfreak SP** haven't decided yet, but let me know.
I bought mine on release day when the store opened and mine is naked as a jay-bird. My concern is being stupid and throwing it in my pocket with keys or something like that so I ordered the RealClear (or something like that) screen protector. I also think its a little hard to one-hand-hold because its fairly slick so I am going to look for a gel/rubber case soon.
I've been using my Vibrant for 2 weeks now without any sort of protection on it and I have to say that the phone is very durable. I dropped it a couple of times and returned with no scratches. I'm soon to get one of those Mesh cases though, just for the appeal .
Had a Realook but it made the capacitative buttons along the bottom less sensitive. I took it off and am debating on going back to a screen protector. If my screen gets scratched up that bad I will just call Tmobile customer service and tell them I need a new phone because my phone is sucking down batteries in less than 2 hours. Works every time!!!!
I was running naked for a while but then I got one of the gel skins form TMO. Been using it on and off. I love the phone naked but I feel like im living on the edge without a case to protect it.
I tried a wet install one from ebay but it had bubbles and felt tacky...I have a amzer I went to put on twice but cannot get every tiny strand from microfiber off screen...Iget stuck with a few stubborn ones...So I been naked for a few weeks now and 0 scratches but i'm very anal and wash my hands dozens of times and handle it like it's an infant.

Dropped my first phone less than three feet on to a tile floor, on the third day I owned it. Screen looked fine (no cracks) but wouldn't work. Got a replacement, and still running naked. I just can't bring myself to cover this sexy bastard up.

Thanks for the replies! Yeah im loving the nekkid feeling. Im sure I'll decide when I get the other 2 sp's in. Definitely not gonna get rid of the gel skin. Not that its a bad thing, but it does make the phone twice as heavy and twice as thick. I'd just like to think that if I dropped the phone it would give some cushion to avoid a corner drop/crack screen.
I guess it comes down to:
Sexy ass phone thats, super light and has an extremely bright screen VS. protected investment... LOL
Had mine for a few weeks, i started out with the t-mobile gel skin and screen protector but instantly realized after putting it on that it was horrible and blurred the image and ruined the colors of the screen. I do like the gel skin though. It gives the phone slightly more thickness and heft, which i prefer, and i think it makes it more comfortable to use.
for the screen I started using just regular kitchen plastic wrap as a temporary measure, but i actually like it quite a bit. it is super thin and clear so the screen looks just as good as usual and is quite resistant to smearing from your fingers. You can drag your finger across the screen and hardly see anything at all. It also wraps around the sides of the phone and keeps little bits of crude from getting in between the chrome-ish bezel and screen. the biggest problem with it is that it just isn't very strong, which leads to replacing it every 2-3 days because of all the little nicks and scratches it picks up. you also need the gel skin in order to hold it on and and keep it from moving.
Android Streaking (Naked)
I ran my G1 Naked for the last year and a half using the "sleeve" that it came with without any issues, scratches, etc so I figured I'd do the same with the Vibrant.
I found a nice semi thick cloth sleeve case with a drawstring so it doesn't fall out when dropped and as a bonus it helps keep the screen clean of fingerprints, debris etc. I have dropped it onto tile from waist height 10 or so times and the case dampens the falls enough so far. I just hope I don't slip when it's not in the sleeve.
Streaking here since i bought it on friday it was released.
I've never had a condom for any of my phones. it's like covering up your Ferrari with a car bra. What's the point?
As we say in the car world, "She ain't a trailer queen, she's built for driving. Drive her."
Exactly!
I was running nekkiddd for a week.
Just bought the clearfreak and after 3 days with it I hate it!
Returning my phone to her original self.
This phone is staying as nude as a newborn.
Only device I have ever put in a case is my iPod touch, as that damn polished metal back scratches so easy and can drastically diminish resale value.
did anybody try the Carbon Fiber Protector Shield Full Body Skin on amazon
Mine has been case and screen protector free for a week now. I've also drunkenly dropped it on 3 or 4 occasions from ear / pocket height. There is no sign of drop not even a scratch. I've noticed the chrome ring around the screen is very durable (i think it might be metal?). And the phone is so light drops don't seem to effect is as much as big metal devices. The screen seems very tough and thick (much thicker than a nexus one screen).
So far im pretty impressed with the build quality considering the "cheap feel" in the hand. I guess we need to stop associating heft with quality.
My only real concern is breaking the volume rocker or power button. They seem extra cheaply made.
Realook. You cannot see its there. And I don't have any problems with the capacitives. Screen is as Vibrant as without it. It truly is invisible and un-feel-able.
right now I'm running nekkid. I wouldn't mind getting some type of case for it though, just in case of the accidental drop, or if my daughter throws it across the room like she did my MT3G (only received 1 small dent on the T-Mobile logo =) )
As for a screen protector, I would like to get one, just have been seeing mixed reviews on them.
i've had mine since launch and its still naked because the god damn USPS sucks a fat nut and wont just drop my THREE DOLLAR EBAY GELLI CASE off in the freaking mailbox because for some reason it ended up getting "signature required"
i pulled the lanyard off an old camera to be safe, i'm so paranoid im going to drop it.

it is soft plastic, no idea how you havent scratched yours. i have been extremely careful with my phone and noticed a small divot in the edge, i havent dropped it or put it anywhere that it could get scratched, no idea where it came from.
Happy to see most are not throwing money away on screen condoms, I have been naked since day one, screen is as new as when i first unboxed, This screen will not scratch PERIOD. For those you think that there is no differance between naked and using clear or ghost condoms, Just stop it, there is a differance, No matter how clear or ghost they claim your still putting a layer of material on the screen and it will effect the clearity, This screen is gorgeous and ment to be naked. BTW I have a TMO gel case incase i drop the phone and they are perfect together, Gives the phone that umph it was missing.

It's official: Vibrant has Gorilla Glass

Really no need for a SP unless your phone goes through hell, or you like plastic.
Check out the link. Now, all I need is for www.seidioonline.com to make a sexy, sleek case.

I hate screen protectors. I really really really really do. But I can say that even though we have gorilla glass you should get a real look. My first Vibrant had a screen protector or two and I said who needs em. I had my nexus naked for six months without a single blemish........same day I took my sp off, I got a nasty scratch down the left side of the glass. Thing is my phone is in a body glove case, and I never put in a pocket with anything else.
You can get reallook for 11.00 for two protectors. They really do look like nothing is there. Much better than the clear freak. even when the screen is off.
From a guy who hates screen protectors, I say get one. You can never be too careful with a 500 phone.
Gorilla glass isn't indestructible. A SP, especially one as unobtrusive as a realook, is probably a good idea just incase of some sort of disaster. That being said, this phone is pretty tough. I know a few people who have dropped their vibrants from iphone shattering heights and escaped unscathed, a testament to the excellent build quality and light weight of this device.
I don't see the word "Vibrant" anywhere in that article. Did you do some further research and find out that they used the same gorilla glass in the vibrant as they did the I9000?
Also, I've had my vibrant for exactly a month now and I have been very, very careful with it. I've been handling it like a damn newborn baby, especially the first couple of weeks. Somehow, and I have no idea how, I got a small grouping of fairly deep scratches in my screen within the first few days of taking it out into the world. This is happened even though I was taking my sim card out and putting it in an old Moto Razr while at work (I haven't had an account with Tmo for a couple years and that's the last Tmo phone I had) and wrapping the thing in a soft cotton clothe while in my pocket.
I personally am a little skeptical of this gorilla glass or the fact that the vibrant even has it.
what is taking seido this long.. they were able to make one for epic which came recently.. but not our Vibrant...!!!
Patiently waiting for the white slider to be available. Also still waiting for SGP to respond to my inquiry. I still want to know if this case has been redesigned for the Vibrant/non Korean Galaxy S's. I'd really like a case without the antenna cutout.
The pictures on the website still show the Korean version of the case/phone. I hope they didn't just relabel these
Just chatted with a CSR at Seidio.
She says they have no plans to make cases for the Vibrant. Not even a maybe...
So...
I just read this thread yesterday and thought "wow, that's awesome" and then today my "gorilla glass" screen got a big ass scratch on it.....
That hurts...Did you get the scratch from regular use ? I've heard good things about gorilla glass...
I went to the employee release (they gave out vibrants to everyone who attended) and samsung flaunted at the fact that the vibrant had gorilla glass. They even went as far as grabbing keys, nails, etc to test the screen...I'm surprised it was a small mystery after release. In fact, I thought everyone knew....
I carry my vibrant in an otherwise empty pocket all the time and I still managed to get a small scratch just above the display area. $11 is a small price to pay for peace of mind.

I have a Realook and can't tell it's on there so I'll keep it just in case. If I could tell it is on there I'd take my chances but I can't so it's one more form of protection to cover an expensive investment.
Yeah, I keep my phone in a seperate pocket away from metal, and there is a small scratch on the glass...No idea how this happened...cuz the worst it could have come in contact was is keys(even then no pressure would of been applied in this scenario for the key to scratch) or the plastic edge from my other phones case. Should it of fallen the raised edges from the gel case would of kept the face off the floor, and in the two or three falls it didn't hit any sharp edges of any kind either.
So prob best to get protection regardless.
I've managed to get an ever so small scratch as well. Didn't notice it till I was cleaning it thoroughly for a SP, but hard to believe this is some special glass considering I had been very careful with it.

I purchased realook because of all the great feedback. I took it off within a minute. It made the screen have a rainbow color on it and when I read text it strained my eyes.
As soon as I peeled it off the screen was easy on my eyes.
I had a clearfreak for about 3 weeks and started thinking:
"If I always have a screen protector on it when will I ever get to enjoy my SAMOLED screen without it?"
I mean I know it's protected with a SP but why always have it covered and never get to see it in it's full glory. I don't know maybe it's just me. I would hate to scratch it but with a SP I would never get to enjoy it completely to it's maximum potential.

You should have been more patient because the rainbow effect disappears overnight. The Realook screen protector is virtually invisible on my Vibrant .

I agree, mine disappeared after a few hours as well
I've had my Realook on there for a week and it still has the rainbow look to it...terrible. Debating taking it off

Took screen protector off

Anyone else a daring and adventurous guy like me, living the dangerous life with no screen protector.
But still sport the pocket protector to keep the nerd alive jk.
Just got sick of my screen always being covered up, I did have a good one from Otterbox, it was very clear, and went on near perfectly with no bubbles, but when gets greasy hard to clean off, it seems to attract grease almost. Now with the naked screen, it doesn't seem to get nearly as greasy at all, and the image of the screen with no protector is even sharper and clearer. Look out "Retina Display" I am looking at you.
I know I may scratch the screen somehow, but not too worried. Anyone else take it off and like going naked ? Hey now !!!
my friend had his Evo for months without a screen protector and he never scratched it until he put the oem htc protector on it. it did look very nice compared to mine (with the protector on)...but i KNOW i will scratch mine so mine stays on!
i tried it haha i went out golfing with it in my pocket and i guess there was a lot of pressure on my pocket on my downswing and it put a big crack on my screen
Daring, daring people...
Took mine off six months ago. No scratcheson the main screen. My camera glass cover has a few scratches though.

I have been running mine with no screen protector since day1. No scratches at all. I don't abuse it or anything but I'm also not extremely careful. I personally just couldnt stand the rubbery feel and the degraded image. As a side note I actually apply some carnuba wax (very carefully) every couple of weeks and it helps a lot with the grease etc. Even makes it ultra slippery.

good idea with the wax... gonna try it myself, haven't used a screen protector since July and my screen is like new
Running it nude here too, had a TINY thin scratch under 1cm long from my keyes. Luckily the screen kept getting dust under it so sprint replaced the glass for free.

I like my screen protector from Otterbox. I'm not brave enough to go naked at this point. I'll wait until I've owned the phone a year and I'm closer to the replacement. Of course, I do pay for the insurance... Hmm. Perhaps I should ponder this more.
I don't use screen protectors because they don't feel right when it comes to touch, and they degrade the picture quality. Not only that, but glass is harder than virtually all metals so the chance of it getting scratched are pretty low. The only thing you really have to worry about is sand, but if your phone won't ever be exposed to sand then there's nothing to worry about.
IMO screen protectors are obsolete for capacitive touch screens. For the older plastic screens that were used for resistive touch screens though, it made more sense.

Same here...I hate protectors/cases...have you ever rocked a case and protector, and then every once in a while took it all off to clean it up? Remember that feeling you had looking at it all cleaned up and in its true size right before you put all of that **** back on??! It looks a million times better! Why cover it back up??!! I've had mine naked since release date and for the exception of a few hair line scratches on my camera lens (no effect whatsoever on the quality of pics/vids), its still perfect!
I fumbled mine over this weird ornimental bronze ashtray and dinged up my otterbox screen protector in about ten places. I thought for sure the phone was done while it bounced across the ashtray, but the protector took all the punishment. They immediately sent out a complete replacement case (regardless of me telling them what I did and asking where I can buy just the screeny, awesome customer service). So I had the damaged protector removed for the three days I waited for shipping... and there is NO WAY I'm putting another protector on, this glass feels awesome, doesnt collect finger funk or microscopic finger scuffs. More responsive, image is sharp, the phone just feels slicker and faster. I still have the commuter case on the body at work but at home I gotta strip it down completely and revel in the sexiness of this phone. I'm done caring what happens to the phone now, just like the rest it will look like an old turd in two years and I'll be sporting something new anyway.
I'm starting to feel the same way... I've gone caseless the past two days. Maybe I'll take the screen protector off today.

i also like their screen protector, not much friction when sliding around finger
Currently naked and oh does she feel amazing lol
No case or screen protector and I sport it in my left front pants pocket all the time.
I had a nice slimmer case by sedio I think and then the corner clips broke so it was coming apart. Ordered a Otterbox case and was like omg... I could throw this thing like a baseball and I bet it could take the beating. Had the Otterbox on for a few weeks then I got tired of that oil slick effect under the screen protector and once it was naked there was no putting the clothes back on!
I am a little upset though, since taking it out of the case there are now 3 small pieces or dirt under the screen and its only been out of a case for maybe a week. The Evo I have is a replacement since my mic stop working on my original phone. It does have that screen separation issue.
I haven't used a screen protector since Day 1, which, for me, was back in early November 2010. I still don't have any scratches on my screen and agree with the op's sentiments that some screen protectors dilute the quality of the display.
I'm very careful to never place my EVO in my pocket with anything other than my Bluetooth headset. No spare change, no car keys, et cetera. I've also found that some relatively inexpensive microfiber cleaning clothes from Target are spectacular at removing fingerprints and grime from the screen when it does become dirty.

I had a HTC Hero for about 1.5 years, completely naked since day 1. When I got rid of it, I only had a couple of small, barely noticeable scratches. It wasn't babied at all and it was dropped a few times. The only thing I used to clean that screen was whatever jean or shorts I had on.
Now if I can only get past being paranoid with the EVO ; there's nothing better than rockin' a naked phone.
I stopped using my case a few weeks ago, and haven't had any issues. Yesterday, I picked my wife up from the salon. While we were driving home, I had her answer a text for me. When we got home, she forgot it was in her lap, and just got out of the car. It hit the concrete right on the corner on the backside and scratched all the way down to the red. She got very upset about it, so I pretended it was no big deal...but DAMMIT! It was friggin MINT before that!
A month ago I peeled off the Zagg protector Best Buy put on when I bought it back in October. Not going back. Looks better, feels better.
Ahhhhhhh, freballin'
I went back to a screen protector already
Was at WorstBuy, looking at misc stuff, and this hot chick was pimping the Zagg bullet proof screen protector, well a few shake of her boobs in front of me, and I was sold. I am sucker.
Actually I LOVE this screen, has a weird sticky feel to it, very good traction on the finger, and even better doesn't seem to attract any grease, I like this much more than the clear Otterbox protector.
Combine this with the best case for the EVO, the Case-Mate "Tough" and this phone is ready for 2012.
