Question about OC - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ok I'm rooted and prior to I had the OC where I ran thru terminal.
My question is do I need to wait until a sense UI kernel to be compiled or does it go by the type of hardware since its still technically a G2
Or can I continue using the vision_OC.ko file?

Check the development section, already there are two kernels which have OC. I flashed BaconBits through ClockWorkMod, works great!

Are you using sense UI?

I didnt want to start a new thread since this is already about OCing and is fairly new.
I used the old kernel for the temp root and had my phone OCed to 1.56ghz and it was very stable. I'm using the bacon bits now and want to do the same thing.
Second question is more advanced. Can voltage be modified on the baconbits kernel? I love OCing stuff and I'd love to see how far this phone will go.
What I'm asking for is a line I can edit in a file to add the speed my phone is stable at, or a string of commands for terminal.

[Q] Stock ROM w/ OC kernel

First off let me say this i know about the search option, but i dont have the time right now to search all over the forum. So sorry about this but i gotta do it.
Could someone provide me with with a link to a stock ROM w/ a OC kernel if thats even available?
Again, not trying to be a noob but i just really need a straight up answer - thanks guys.

I dont believe ther is a stock rom with the oc kernal. You have to flash both seperately. Idk about the oc kernal, but the stock rom is in the rom bible.

For one, are you asking for a G2 rom in the slide Q&A? Because your sig says you are on a G2 not a slide. However, here are links to the rooted stock/wifi tether ROM w/ the OTA update and dumfuq's OC kernel:
CR_Mod: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747002
OC Kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=745805
With the kernel, if you flash 4.0 then you have to edit the init.d files to be able to boot, but if you flash 3.5 you won't have to. The only major difference is that 3.5 only goes up to 844 MHz and 4.0 goes up to 864 MHz. If you follow the instructions on dumfuq's original post you shouldn't have an issue editing your init.d files though.
Thanks man! It's for my bro-in-laws mytouch 3g slide so I haven't had time to browse this side of xda! Thanks again!

[Q] Overclocking

Hello,
I've been reading the forums for a while and i have a few questions about overclocking:
1) How and what and do i have to install to overclock htc wildfire? (I heard that i need special "kernel" or something and the "setCPU" program).
2) Can I overclock htc wildfire running on any ROM (by installing the "kernel" and "setCPU") or, I need to flash a special ROM (and then install the "kernel" and "setCPU") ?

you can flash an overclock kernel to any rom, such as HCDR.Jacob's HCDR.kernel. also, setCPU is not the only overclock app out there, but it is the best. setCPU is available on the market, and costs AU$3.50 or something. HCDR.kernel can be found here on the forums.

I am happy with this official froyo, just need to remove some htc app and a bit overclock...
After rooting, can I only change kernel, or I must use some of custom rom?
Thx

Yes, just flash in the kernel, no need to flash a custom Rom.

You cant install the kernel on the official FroYo devices because they cant be rooted. And, to flash the kernel, you need a rooted device.
What are the benefits of installing a different kernel?
It depends which kernel. you'll be able to overclock and underclock, experience better battery life etc.
Jacob kernel works very well on sunaabh ROM. WiFi works also great. My phone works stable at 710mhz and even 768 doesn't make any problem.

[Q] any guide for overclocking?

I have flashed Virtuous 1.0.1, I would like to play a little with oveclocking ,as it is written in ROM description it support oveclocking.
I am looking for some guide about flashing kernel and oveclocking or if somebody could even describe it here I would really appreciate it.
Additional for confirmation, I've read there are 3 kernels for virtuous: standard, advanced and shipped from HTC (default in virtuous).
I would like to overclock to safe frq ,I've read somewhere it is 1GHz. Probably it would be sufficient to flash standard kernel.
Ok so coming back to question how to flash new kernel and overclock our pocket PCs?

From what you stated, it seems Virtuous has an OC kernel already, just download SetCPU from the Market and follow the prompts.

ROM choice? (I like Sense)

I'm new to the Inc2 dev scene but am very familir with ROM's in general. I just unlocked my Inc2 using HTC's method posted today.
I like Sense but want OC and general ROM optimizations. Any Recommendations? I downloaded the Sabotage ROM and hopefully that's what I'm after until CM9 is in at least beta.

Well, sabotage is based on the stock ROM. If you're looking for higher sense versions, my personal recommendation is mikrunny.

Carbonite fusion deux is a themed version of the stock 2.3.4/2.1 Rom. It's one of my favs. It's smooth!
MikRunny 1.01 is a killer sense 3.5 Rom. The tweaks are awesome! It's probably my favorite sense roms. A lot of people hold this Rom in high regards. The Mik team puts out good stuff.

Currently installing Milk. Stuck at HTC white screen at the moment. Is a kernel included? I want to slightly OC and undervolt for battery life.
OC yes... UV I'm not sure. I OC to 1100 on mine and let er buck. The battery life is much better than stock, so I didn't mess with it to much.

Sorry yes a kernel is included.

Are you rooted? Or just unlocked bootloader?

Rooted. I was just running Sabotage until mik was suggested.
Did you do a full wipe? How long have you waited?
Sent from my ADR6350 using xda premium
Full wipe. Waited 20 mins on the HTC screen and pulled the battery and restored. Gonna download again and retry.
please let us know what the turnout is...
No luck. Back running sabotage. The WiFi is broken though...

Something's not right with my phone, obviously. I can't get mik to flash and wifi shows "error," on sabotage. Suggestions?
You're not s-off, that's your problems, that's whhy the mik Rom didn't work cause from what I gather u have to be s off to run anything other than stock kernels... Search the development section for the hboot downgrade tool then use revolutionary and u should be good to go man

i just installed MikRunny 1.0.1 and i am very, very happy with it. it's actually my first flash. i was content with my stock ROM, but was looking for that something extra. MikRunny is very fast and smooth, and i have zero issues or bugs thus far. it has my recommendation, as it it still feels stock, but that something extra is apparent, just what i was looking for. five thumbs up!

He wouldn't be able to have perm root without having s-off. And if he didn't have perm root then he couldn't flash a rom like sabotage. That wasn't his problem.
Depending on which EXT version the rom is running he'll need the superwipe zip that newt made. It makes sure that the correct partitions are wiped. Clockwork only wipes the default partitions.
EDIT: if he's still S-On he's always going to have problems in which case Jeremy is right. but it's more than just the kernel

Wrong. You can unlock without being s-off. S-off means security off. That means its not secured against bad radio flashes or something other than stock kernels. HTC unlocked but it still has security.

Kernel for HTC Desire 300

Dear all geniuous there, can i have a custom kernel having good battery life & Performance,Which also enable write permission on system files.
Please help i have search alot but couldn't find working kernel or trick?
Device=HTC DESIRE 300
Android Rom 4.1.2
Write permission can be accessed by root. You don't need a custom kernel for that. And then performance and battery don't mix really...it's an oxymoron
Now, it doesn't look like there's any development kernel-wise. If you'd like one, I can suggest you should learn how to. It's a fun process imho

Why i am asking because i guess with that only i can have S-off on Desire 300.
Because i have deleted so many bloatware from Custom rom but still Reboot and all things come back.Even not able to install Bus box.
Find and flash a busybox/superuser zip.
Busybox will work after that.
