Hey guys! Just grabbed an Innocell for $45 on eBay, read through several threads and had a couple questions. First, I did not get a charger with it so whats the best way to charge it with my evo, Laptop USB or Wall USB, or should I drop a few bucks on a charger? Second, will it charge completely in my phone(and without blowing up)? Third, what is the heat like, with my stock battery it gets hot enough to make the kickstand & back of the phone pretty warm(only if I am say playing a game while charging, surprisingly it doesnt get warm using GPS like some other), so just wondering what the heat with this bigger battery is like.
Well when I purchased my extended battery it came with the external charger bundled with it. There have been debates all over about what is the best way to get a full charge without that initial 10% drop off. I always use the external one to charge my battery with great results. Haven't tried using USB but this battery, even without a full charge is still a beast. I'm a heavy user and I still haven't been able to kill it.

So I just got this battery hm around Wednesday or Thursday, and I have let it die down to around 10% or less and recharged it overnight several times and I still only see a slight difference in battery life. I am (I would say) a moderate user and I know some people say they get around 2 days on heavy use so I wonder what I'm doing wrong..? I ran the SU command to delete the battery.bin file to wipe the stats while it was fully charged, then let it run the whole day again only getting around 12 hrs (probably would have been shorter, but I have juicedefender running, and I was at work for 5 1/2 hrs of those 12) and then I stuck it on the charger at about 7:45 and then around 12 it was fully charged and I of course turned it off, then back on and it said it was around 80% so I let it charged to full, reset it again then when I turned it back on it said it was full. I took it off the charger and within minutes it dropped 1% every minute or 2 and now around 15 minutes later it's at 86% and I'm not even doing anything, just sitting here with the screen on and Skype is running. I've only drained it/fully charged it a few times maybe 3 or 4 should I just keep doing that or did I just get a crappy battery? It's better life than the stock, so I can't help but think that it's not crappy just not fully calibrated or "worn in" yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I too have a cheapo extended battery from eBay, for the first week I hated it, but finally I actually just let the thing completely die to wear the phone shut down and wouldn't turn back on, then I recharged the battery completely in a standalone charger(also ebay), then put it back in the phone and used normally, charging and discharging and now I can't even dream of going back to the OEM battery, my battery life has much more than doubled. I use my phone like most here with CM7 up to date on nightlys and I'm happy as can be. I also like the ext back on the cheapos much better than the seidio flavor.
So you use the wall charger from eBay to charge it? I don't want to take my battery out to charge it though every night, let alone turn it off because I use it as an alarm clock :X. I've read a whole bunch of different ways of how to charge it in your phone and most people even one of the legitimate companies (Seido) who sells it, says that if you let it go an hr or 2 after the light turns green its good to go, but I don't believe it charges after the light turns green hence why the charging icon on the battery goes away. people may "think" it does but I honestly don't think it does and if anybody can prove otherwise I might have to buy the external charger :/
Yes get an external charger, Preferably 2 batteries and 1 external charger.
I just ordered a wall charger for like $15 I hope this works. I'll just charge my extended battery at night and use my other battery when the extended is charging

I used the external charger just once to "calibrate" the battery it seemed? Since then I've not taken the battery from the phone and just charged it with the phone charger(plugging it in) and I have noticed a huge change in run time.
How do you charge it though now that its calibrated? Do you just leave it on the charger for a few hrs after it hits green or do you have to turn the phone off and back on then stick it on the charger

Yeah, its been about a week and my battery still can't even hold a charge, even if it isn't fully charging. It dies quicker than my stock battery. I told the guy I bought it from, and he said he'd send me a new one so I'm back to the stock battery for now until I get this one next week :/

i have two of those things and they work perfectly. plus, i don't have to kill the phone, open her up and swap batteries. additionally, it'll charge two devices at a time. bonus!
Hmm see that's what I'm trying to get rid of lol having to plug it in all the time. Plus I actually like the bigger back, I personally don't like the thin size of the evo I feel like I could drop it at any time.

How are you guys getting so many hours? I only get like 8 Hours on my heavy use and i bought a 3500mah extended battery wtf? I'm also using the net Netarchy sbc 3.2 more havs and mym rom with setcpu running profiles. What am I doing wrong? I even have juice defender running aswell.
I had my 3500 extended battery and at first it wasnt too good. But after switching to an external charger for all charges and completely letting the battery die out im getting a whole days worth of heavy use with no worries.
No rooting or any battery controls.

Okay, been kicking around with the 3d for a month and decided to keep it. I am giving my ex the evo, but it looks like its not charging. After a complete battery drain does it take a few hours before you see the charge light?
Are you using the USB charge? It might not be getting a full charge due to the power restrictions from the usb. Why not try using a car or wall charger. Worst case scenario, give me the phone so I can try to fix it and I can keep it. lol

funny... been using the wall charger. I pulled the battery for 5 min and replaced -- still no charge light. Switched usb cords. Don't know why the battery would die after only a month of no usage.
It looks like you might have to get a new battery. You could still give it to me so I can get the evo and then have it fixed for myself lol but it's only because I have a spare battery.
The battery is completely drained. the phone wont charge it on its own so as to not damage the battery further. Take it to sprint, they can "boost" the battery to get the phone to charge it again.
When lithium ion batteries aren't in use they should be charged then stored in the fridge in an air tight bag. EVO batteries have circuitry designed to protect the phone that will resist charge if need be.
It is nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.
I was wondering if it was possible to have the primary source of power be the USB port versus the battery. I tend to leave my devices plugged in a lot more than I probably should and figured if I could do this it would save on messing up my batteries. It's kind of like having a laptop plugged in without a battery (if you don't really take it out).
Doesn't really help, but if you charge your battery to 100%. you can pull it out as it runs on the usb port from then on. Only worked a few times for me

ive had this happen alot, make sure its plugged in for 10 min but eventually it turns off

That's not what I was trying to get at. I was trying to avoid using the battery versus continual draining/charging it. I tend to use it as my hotspot at home for my primary internet connection and sometimes music.
My thought process was if I didn't constantly use the battery I'd keep phone temperature low and not mess up the battery.
Have you ruined batteries in the past by charging them/depleting them? Honestly, I have mine on and off the charger constantly. Today I used my phone to listen to Pandora most of the day and about half way through the day I video chatted with a friend and had it on the charger. I took it off the charger, ran around a little bit away from my house and then came back and it currently sits on the charger again.
From my experience with it, I've never had any issues with keeping it on/off the charger periodically through the day. I am also using a 3500mAh extended battery, but I did the same thing on the stock one.
I understand you are trying to keep temperatures low and play on the safe side, but unless you are noticing unusually high temperatures or something, I wouldn't worry about it being on and off the charger.

Yeah, if you're worried about the battery crapping out, I wouldn't. I've had mine on charger every night or every other night, and it's still like new.
Heck, even if it did die on you, you can get a brand new OEM battery on eBay for less than $6 shipped.
Quick tip on battery. If you go online and sprint chat with a representative, just tell him or her your battery life is no good on your phone. Then he or she will tell you go to buy one then get back on chat and sprint will credit your account. I bought $60 battery extended with case and got credited $60 on my bill
Plus now I can charge one night and last two days!

I would just like to share some of my experiences with a cheap 3$ eBay battery (like this one), as well as ultra-cheap 2$ USB chargers.
I bought this battery early January to supplement my GS3's main battery. At first I used it as a backup battery, keeping it in my bag in case my main battery dies. This worked great for a couple of weeks until I could no longer be bothered to swap out the battery every time I needed to charge the other one. So I ended up leaving the eBay battery in full time. At this point I have grown to trust it, seeing as I hadn't had any issues.
Months went by like this, but by the end of March, I was scratching my head as to why my phone wasn't lasting as long as it used to. I guess this change was so gradual that I didn't notice it for long. Now this past week, the battery has had even more trouble holding a charge. It took hours to recharge, and barely lasted with me listening to music, chatting on fb and checking reddit several times a day. It got to a point where one night, it only charged to 90%, and then the next night it charged up to 45%. It also would only charge a few percent at a time when daydream was on.
Now yesterday, by the time I got home ~16:00, the battery died. I plugged it in, but it wouldn't charge - a battery with a warning symbol icon lit up when plugging it in. After a few minutes of fiddling, I managed to get my phone to turn on, but then it almost immediately turned off. A few minutes more, I managed to turn it on and finally charge using the original charger. After an hour, it didn't even reach 20%. This enraged me, causing me to finally hot swap the battery to the original one. Surprisingly, it charged up to 70% in less than 1 hour. Quite a nice change.
Since this morning I've been using it more than normally (large FTP download, streaming youtube), and I still have 60%
I suspect that the low quality anode within the battery corroded very quickly due to the high stresses involved with powering the phone, and charging rapidly. The thing that I often see online, is people being afraid of batteries blowing up or damaging their phones, but this is highly unlikely. The phone has the battery charging circuit built into it, and it will regulate the CV and CC charging cycles itself. It shuts off the phone when the voltage drops too low, and it wouldn't go over 4.2v because the phone wouldn't charge above that. The only damage that a cheap battery can do is to leak or vent inside a phone - hence the need for proper circuitry in the phone.
I also have experiences using absolutely the cheapest batteries in some of my other gadgets. Both of my cameras use the cheapest batteries I could find on eBay - without any problems. Ironically, for my point and shoot, the eBay batteries last longer and display an accurate time estimate. With my DSLR, the 2 batteries that I bought (originally to make a cheap power supply for long timelapses), they work identically, charge identically and fit perfectly. I also bought some protected 18650 batteries for various LED projects I was working on, as well as for my flashlight, but about half of them are now dead - I suspect due to the protection circuit. So yeah, those are my experiences with ultra cheap batteries.
Now, as per the chargers, I mostly use only el cheapo dealextreme or eBay ones. I've had no issues with charging my old iPhone, my SGS3, tablet, and my el cheapo 20$ Huawei phone. However, they don't work well with my Raspberry Pi, iPad and my mom's Android tablet (the touchscreen glitches big time).
So yeah. I don't know what the purpose of this is. Just had to speak out .
Has anyone used this with their phone yet? If so, have you noticed any difference in battery life? I feel like when I started using them with my note 5 my battery went to crap.
Also, does anyone have a particular thoughts on fast wireless charging?

I've got a wireless charger that I got with my note 5. That battery sucked compared to this phone. Never considered it being the charger that messed it up.

I think the battery seems worse because you're not fully charging the phone. I've noticed that when I completely charge the phone overnight I have great battery, but when I just fast charge it to 100% and unplug it the battery doesn't last as long. Kinda like how when you put $25 in gas into your car, it'll show full on the gauge, but we know it's not the real full level because you can put another $45 in gas in.
That being said, I do use the Samsung charger overnight to charge and I don't think I've seen any real differences.
