[BOOTANIMATION] Animated G2 logo boot animation - G2 and Desire Z Themes and Apps

I really like the stock G2 boot image, but without being animated, it felt very stiff and boring. So I added some animation to it. It's very simple, with the fading grey lines at the top and bottom moving to the left slowly:

}
(this is a low quality GIF, the actual animation looks better, I promise)
I made this mostly for myself, but it turned out better than I expected so I wanted to share it. This is my very first boot animation, so be gentle in your criticism. This is an 800x480 boot animation, so it should work on other devices with that screen resolution, though I don't know why you'd want a G2 boot screen on your Nexus One or Droid Incredible.
To use this animation, use adb or a root explorer app to put the file in /data/local and make sure it's named bootanimation.zip. The file is attached below, or you can download it from MediaFire.
UPDATE: I just finished the modified version of this boot animation that replaces the T-Mobile logo with the HTC logo. Aside from that, they're the same. The new one is attached below, or you can grab it from MediaFire.
Enjoy!

Very cool! I like this because it maintains the stock look but is much nicer than the static boot image. Also not too goofy or flashy like others I've seen. Downloaded and copied to /data/local/ with Root Explorer, reported, and worked great! Thanks !

You can do it 3 ways... through adb, terminal, or root file manager.

Made this real quick while waiting to be unloaded. Tested and works. Put .zip on root of sd, open file manager (have su permissions and mounted as rw) copy and go to system/media, paste. Enjoy! "Rooted!!" will flash. I think it's cool so I share.Peace

That's not a bad idea. I personally like the T-Mobile version, but I can try making a version with an HTC logo. Any preference on color? Should the HTC logo be green or the same grey as the G2 logo? I should have time to make that later today.

If I put this in data/local, then choose to delete it at some point, will I encounter any issues?

Absolutely not . If you want to go back to the stock boot animation
just use root explorer to move the bootanimation.zip folder from
data/local back to your sd card , Reboot and back to normal .

[BOOTANIMATION] Various

Here are some bootanimations I created. Some of these are pointless. I just made them to mess with my friends.
Feel free to add your own.
Im open to input, sugestions, etc....as I want to create a more smoother version.
::Instruction::
Download the zip and place it in /system/media
You should already have a file named bootanimation.zip...simply replace it with the downloaded one, of course renaming to bootanimation.zip
If it doesn't work in /system/media than
try in /system/local

I really really really like this I'm not complaining just providing some constructive criticism, the 2 things I would do to make this perfect would be some minor resizing as well as maybe removing a frame or to or somthing to help with smoothness I lags a little to much. But over all I really like this and I will deff keep for long time. I don't know how you guys do this stuff but keep it up! Hopfully you can create a v 1.0.1 of this a little smoother!

Is this variation any different than the one from this thread (Post #3)?
http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dr...related-wallpapers-boot-logos-animations.html
I've been running that bootanimation for a few weeks now and really love it (especially with the custom Joker Boot Image I use) but if this one is resized different or anything i'd like to know.
Yeah is pretty much the same except its rotated to fit full screen. I know it probably won't show much, but I want to create a version with as much quality as possible sized just right for our screens.
When I get to a computer ill be working on a another version, hopefully as smooth as the one from that post.
Thanks for all the advice and input, I really appreciate it. Keep it comming.

You don't. The easiest way is to use root explorer and rename the .zip to bootanimation.zip and copy it to system/media.

Its somewhat better, and works good enough for now....well at least on my phone
I'm still working on a better quality version. Hopefully I can pull it off. Learning as I go.
Let me know which version you like. I'm going to try and up the quality and smoothness of both. I'll most likely be dropping the first version since a good copy exist in the other thread from post 6th.
Thanks and enjoy!
just tried v1 and it was a bit laggy at first but after about 3 secs it went to normal speed and looked very nice im gooing to try v2 and see how that is.
dl version 2 right now
I can't seem to get this to work.. I stuck the .zip into the system/media (where my original .zip was). For some reason it still shows the old boot animation. I also don't have a system/local path..
Sent from my HTC T-Mobile G2 using Tapatalk
EDIT: I'm not sure if the system/media worked for everyone else...
But after looking around in the system files, I ended up finding a second bootanimation.zip in data/local
I moved the marvel zip there, renamed it to bootanimation.zip, rebooted, and it works fine now.

Run Only Once
This might be a noob question, so bear with me. Is it possible to make boot animations run only once? It doesn't make sense to me for a BIOS bootscreen to loop XD
EDIT: NVM! Did a quick google search and found that you can adjust the speed, pause times, and loop count by editing the desc.txt file.

Ohh... I will work on that, photoshop is being a bugger at the moment though, any image I edit in that doesn't work.
Personally, I think the white one looks ugly. Then again, I suppose your phone has an LCD screen so even with the black one you're going to have unnecessary backlight on it, but because my phone has an AMOLED screen I don't get that unnecessary backlight, which makes it look a lot better.

naming file?
So I read the big red line on the 1st page about renaming the files to hTC_bootup_one.zip and hTC_downanimation.zip but now in my system/customize/resource folder I have both the original files and the newly DL'd files. I cannot for the life of me delete the originals( it says cannot remove zip). I even tried to rename the new files to bootup.zip and downannimation.zip but either one tells me to rename differently. I was hoping that it would ask me to replace the original. No. If I long press the file and go into properties if says read and write abilities are allowed but as stated before, it won't let me. I even tried to delete the newly DL'd files and that won't let me. I then tried opening file explorer and deleted the 2 new files but low and behold it still in es file explorer.
So I was thinking maybe I should attack it by re DL'ing the new files and name them bootup.zip and downanimation.zip thinking it would allow me to replace the originals. No, that didn't workI just tried cut and paste to a newly created folder in my SD card thinking it would totally remove the originals and I would be left with just the new DL'd animations. Nope, it left a copy in the resource folder.
So now I have many files in my resource folder. I would like to clean it out and start over.
Is there anything else I could try?
NOTE: it was the rom that was holding it back. viper 3.7.4 has in the tweaks under advanced a setting for custom animations( both bootup and down). I'm assuming that this is why both file explorer and ES couldn't change it. Just a heads up for anyone else using this rom.

CyanogenMod 10 .qmg bootanimation

CyanogenMod 10 .qmg Boot Animation For Samsung Galaxy Note 3
As promised this bootanimation and the rest will be focusing on higher resolution files for our big screens to look nice and crisp
1. First and foremost obviously you must be rooted and have root explorer.
2. Download and extract the zip in the attachments to your phone or push them through from the computer. It contains the 2 files needed for a bootanimation.
3. It is also always good practice to backup your phone in safestrap made possible by Hascode, MANY thanks for that.
4. Once you have everything, open root explorer and navigate to system/media and backup two files "bootsamsung.qmg" AND "bootsamsungloop.qmg".
5. After backing them up to another location on your internal or external storage, delete them from system/media and replace them with the 2 files that you extracted from the zip. Reboot and enjoy a non-stock Verizon-Free bootanimation.
Of course this is at your own risk, but it worked for me.

If your boot animation files have a different name just rename the files in the zip to whatever your default boot animation files are named so it works. Assuming you're using a different device than the Note 3 that is. I think they may vary in file names from device to device, not sure....

[Mod] Boot Animation / Shutdown Animation - Oneplus Animated Logo

This is something that I found after an hour or so of googling for cool boot animations. I cant seem to find it again, and I dont think the thread had a preview video or gif, so I extracted all the images from the zip and made a quick video. Attached are two zips that you can just place in "system/media" with root explorer or an equivalent (Of course I would make a backup of the two zips that are there in case you want to revert to stock). Technically its the same zip just renamed, but it works really well for both startup and shutdown .
Also this may be a stock boot animation for one of the Oneplus devices, but I have no idea since this is my first time going Onplus lol. Anyway, hope someone besides me finds this useful :]

My 6T does not have a shutdownanimation.zip by default. Placing your file in system/media results in nothing. Is it only for the TMobile variant?

That's something I hadn't considered. Yeah I have the tmobile variant, but try putting it there anyway and see what happens. It shouldn't hurt anything.

Nothing happens when you put the shutdown animation zip in system/media. The phone shuts down as usual with the "shutting down" prompt

Can confirm. Nothing happened with shut down zip. I'm in tmo variant flashed to international version.

Interesting! Alright thanks to both of you for trying, I'll update the OP.
Will this removed the t-mo animations?
It works. I like this animation better than the current stock one.
Thank u OP, looks great, better than stock imo.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I have T-Mobile variant and I really just rooted to get rid of that awful pink garbage when I booted my phone. Fantastic find!
