Should I partition my SD card? - myTouch 3G Slide Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm running cyanogen and when I try to move apps to the SD card only about 1/3 of the apps will move there. Does partitioning allow you to move all of it?

[Q] How do I move apps to SD card?

I'm running cyanogen 6.1 and go to applications and then click on one and click move to SD card but only like 1/4 or less sometimes of applications get moved to the SD card. Is that all that you can move or is there a way to move more?
I just used ROMmanager to partition my sd card thinking that would fix the problem but it didnt
froyo's built in move apps to sd card doesn't move every part of the app. Some stuff still resides and gets stored in your internal memory. This is why people still use apps2ext in froyo on the slide. There is a pretty good tutorial on how to set this up manually if you don't have a cm6.1 that someone built it in to (or you can download one of the cm6.1 based roms with it built in). It will help alot. Just moving the dalvik-cache to the ext partition will free up a bunch of internal memory.

[Q] APPS2SD

Quick question.
I am running CM7 ggingerbread6, I have a 16GB SD card, a 512mb partition, and apps2sd installed. I have, I believe, moved the apps I want from my internal storage to my SD card. When I use root explorer, however, no files are on my partition.
Why is this?
Where does apps2sd save moved apps?
How can I transfer apps from my sd to my sd-ext?
Thanks in advance!
Apps2sd uses a file structure to store apps on the sd card. IIRC not the entire app, only a portion.
A2sd (darktremor) places the entire app on the sdcard, in the ext partition.
Here is a starting point for your search.

I scanned thru the links you gave but can you tell me the main advantage of putting your apps on the SDcard? Is there something other than just having more free memory on internal storage? thanks
While on the topic of apps2sd, what's the consensus of having /data on the sd too (dt a2sd).

CyanogenMod 7 and Widgets on SD Card

So, anyone got to work a Widgets installed on SD card?
I have 16GB SD Card (FAT32 15GB, EXT3 1GB), anytime i install a widget to my SD Card its just not showing up whenever im trying to add it on desktop (neither by tapping main screen or home/menu/add).
Even rebooting phone wont fix it.
Homever when i move the widget to phone internal memory it shows up without problem.
Is there any way installing widgets on SD Card and get it to work from there without any troubles?
This is kinda annoying TBH.
Or alternatively, is there any ROM that would "fix" this issue?
Well seeing as you have an EXT3 partition, anything you Get from the market will automatically install on that partition so there is no need to 'move to SD'
I think u didnt understand, i didnt mean its annoying to move apps from internal memory to SD card, i meant apps that installs on SD card like widgets doesnt work (you cant add them to desktop) unless you move them to internal phone memory (which is kinda small).
Widgets would NOT work, moved to SD card, it's android patform limitation.

[Q] Getting Ext SD Card to install apps

right now, I can't get my apps to install or move onto the External SD card of my S3 running CM10 or AOKP.
the only thing I have been able to do is run a mount script for my Rdio App so it thinks its putting all my data on the internal SD card and not the Ext SD card.
any idea, init.d script to somehting, can i partition my SD card differently?
