Push to answer NOT Slide to answer - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Hi all,
I was wondering, is there a way or app to change the way to answer the touch pro 2 /tilt 2? I know everyone loves slide to answer, however i like my answer or reject soft button. Anyone know of a tool to have buttons instead of the slider?
Thanks.

You could try S2U2. If you activate the caller id under the S2U2 settings and turn the slide to answer off, you will get the answer and reject buttons. The screen won't be the same, but it will give you the buttons instead of the slider.

I hate the slide to answer on the phone because every once in a while when I take my phone out, the screen flips causing what would normally slide to answer to be a slide to reject.
I have missed MANY calls because of that crap. I hate it.

The phone application is not normally configured to change orientation according to the G-Sensor. Its possible that the phone application was somehow added to the G-Sensor whitelist due to a mod you made. You can remove it from the G-Sensor whitelist (use this forum's search function), which I recommend, since having the phone app on the whitelist causes all sorts of issues.
The other possibility is that you are using a case that has a magnetic clasp, which is causing the phone to think the hardware keyboard is open (this is triggered by a magnetic sensor). There is a registry edit to prevent this.

[REQ] Lock the 4 touch sensitive buttons during incoming call

I've been looking for a good app that would lock the 4 buttons on an incoming call and do nothing else, but so far I have been unsuccessful. All the apps that are capable of doing this usually come with several strings attached, one of which is usually a whole new interface for the dialer.
What I am looking for is simple - when a call is incoming I want the 4 keys to be locked, but the screen to remain unlocked, so I can use the slide to answer part of the dialer.
Does such an app exist or if it doesn't, would somebody with the appropriate skills be able to write one?
LockMeLite 1.3 does this. Only other thing except that is it locks the screen when you wake up the phone, so it is not so 'heavy' application like s2u2 for example.
Thanks, but I was aware of LockMeLite. And as stated in the first post, this app forces screen locking on me. If I was able to disable the screenlock and keep the button lock during call active I'd be a happy camper.
Well, you can disable screenlock on incoming call, and if screenlock on power button press is so much of an issue for you... maybe if you ask the developer kindly, he will disable this feature just for you (or in the next version)

I was hoping for that kind of program too The best so far is AE button and put call/hangup on double tab. Wish someone could make a prog just to disable buttons on incoming call
I'm looking for this kind of app too !!!

I think during conversation, the keys became unlock. It only lock when you have an incoming call and before you pick up that call.
Try TouchLockPro (link in sig). Version 2.6 is the first release which is usable on the HD as the sole locking utility. It is very configurable, so I think you'll achieve what you want.

disable answer key

is there a way i can disable the answer key on my tp2 so it can stop picking up calls in my pocket. i dont like using s2u2 it drains my battery for some reason and on top of that it crashes when picking up the phone
Thank you all for your help
you can you use keyboard config to not have it do anything...
explain this process and what do you mean by not have it do anything only slide to answer?
if you use the keyboard config you can just make the answer key stop working...if you are on a cdma phone i can make a cab for you if this is what you want!!!
ok how do i get to keyboard config?
i'd like to only have the slide function, there has been several times when i hanged up the phone before i could answer, when i was grabbing my phone from my pocket.
is there anyway to disable the regular answering buttons?

Phone answers itself when removing from pocket

I keep my desire in my shirt pocket with screen facing my body. The problem is touch screen seems to work through my shirt, so when the phone is ringing the motion of me removing the phone pulls down on the lock and answers the phone.
Is there anything that can be done to reduce the screen sensitivity so it doesn't work through my shirt touching my skin.
Thanks
Yeah have the screen facing outwards LOL.
put it in a case for protection too like the pdair pouch or the sena ultra slim pouch
stitch a layer of thick material e.g. denim, onto the inside of your shirt pocket
Dude, its android (freedom). Change your lockscreen to something else
I think the app is called lockboot.
It should give you the option of default android lock, or iphone lookalike lock, or a few others...
Anything that unlocks with a side swipe instead of a down swipe should fix your problem.

Sorry mate, i was a bit quick. Only one "o"; "Lockbot". I havent tried it yet though, but since it changes the lockscreen i assume it changes your answer swipe too...
I don't like having the screen facing outwards so that's a no no.
The thing is I like the default lock screen and didn't want to make my phone look like a iphone copy, was hoping I could reduce the sensitivity of the touch screen.
I will look at some other lock screens hopefully there are some that don't look too iphoneish
Thanks
I totally agree with the iphone unlock being ugly, but I do think the default android lock is nice, and it has a right angle swipe...
Dunno about the sensitivity change, reckon that might affect the whole phone. But someone here in the forum can probably offer some advice. Good luck.
so you have you phone in your shirt pocket, when you pull it out it unlocks, so you have the phone bottom down.
if you put it bottom up then when you pull it out of your pocket the touch will make it slide from bottom to top which will not unlock it right? there is your solution.
+ there is the possibility of making the "phone pull out motion" very cool when you pull it out with the bottom up.

That would probably trigger automatically setting the phone to busy and disconnecting the call or forwarding to voice mail, I think that's what sliding up on the lock screen does.
How about dont put it in your shirt pocket?

LockBot have many lockscreens, iPhones, Nexus One, Eris, .. you can even make your own customized lockscreen in that program, pretty nice, have a go at it, its worth it

Thats right, this way i have cancelled 4 out of 5 recent phone calls.
The default screen unlock in the Desire is the most stupid i've ever seen. If you put your phone upwards in your pocket, you answer all calls by grabbing your phone from your pocket, if you put it in upside down, you cancel the call automatically.
If only 1 engineer at HTC called another with the phone in his pocket, they would have noticed this. It's 'HTC quietly stupid' on this one. I have installed Lock 2.0 for now, but will keep looking for a better solution.
Can't turn it upside-down as it will then reject the call. will give the lock app a go later tonight.
pwhooftman if you find a good lock app then please let me know.
thanks

Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
just installed lockbot, well work the few pounds and now have flan style unlock which requires a more precision touch to unlock.

Having recieved a call while using lockbot I still have the same problem.
When using lockbot and you recieve a call the phone unlocks itself and I see the slide to answer desire screen which was my initial problem.
It looks like I need to replace the slide to answer bit rathe rthan the locking sceen.
Can somebody who has lockbot confirm that you still get the slide to answer even with lockbot in use.
Thanks

I had the same experience. Lock 2.0 gives me a iphone like left to right slider for unlocking. When i receive a call , i get the (traditional) green "answer" and red "Deny" buttons. So no unlock slider when receiving a call, but onscreen buttons which are far less accidentally pressed.
No Lock
I had this preoccupation also and installed the No Lock app. This way I also get the green/red buttons.
I gave up on lockbot as the phone would not fully go to sleep mode, I could wake it pressing any key.
Gone back to the standard lock screen for now and I just take the phone out of my pocket very carefully.

Im switch from WinMo to Desire and Im very angry because my every call when I take phone from case(case which came with TyTnII and phone is horizontal position) is droped. Im prety shure that I do not touch screen with finger on hand, because I take phone on top and bottom and take it out from case.
This is realy annoying...
I've sent HTC an e-mail to, at least, make this problem known. Maybe they will put an anti-pocket screen lock in next firmwares.
I've used the No Lock app to disable lock. Unfortunately it possible to wake the phone by pressing any key.
Is there any application that disables screenlock but locks the keys (besides power, off course)?

[Q] Workaround for vertical swipe - answer/reject call

I've had a good search and this problem's come up quite a few times but I haven't found a working solution. To answer/reject calls the Desire requires a vertical swipe. This obviously causes problems when removing from a pocket. First off an F- for HTC in Product Design. You should test your products before producing them!
Ok, so what is the best solution? I don't understand the technology well, so I'm not looking for any complicated solutions - ideally I'd like a tested app. Can anyone recommend one from experience? Otherwise can anyone recommend another solution, other than orientating or holding the phone a certain way? Everyone's obviously in the same boat here. Thanks.
It's a capacitive screen.
You shouldn't be sliding the screen even if the screen slides against your pants. Don't put your fingers on the screen when taking it out.
It's the simple answer you don't want, but you're probably not finding any other results because it is that simple.
Slide to answer is similar to slide to unlock however, so you might have more luck finding workarounds that change the unlock mechanism and see if they happen to mention ways to change slide to answer.

When I used Sense ROM (switch to Oxygen some time ago) I used WidgetLocker with the option to hide an incoming call activated. I basically added an vanilla style slider (slide to right to unlock) over HTC's slide down to answer.
Is not a perfect solution because
- the program it's not free
- you have to swipe twice (once to right, once down) to answer a call
But it saved me a lot of trouble with answering too soon or rejecting calls
You could also try Incoming Call Plus, I didn't had the chance.

I hope for mankind's sake that you are not a designer. Ps it occurs too when removing it from a slide-in case, where my fingers have no connection with the screen.
@dboy - is it simple a matter of installing an app and then you have 'slide right to unlock' and it won't install anything else on the phone?
Has anyone tested Incoming Call Plus?

You install the apk and you get an alternative lockscreen that, among others, features slide right to unlocked on incoming call.
It has many other options: place any widget on lock screen, unlock by trackpad, custom sliders, show/hide notification bar, allow/disallow interactions on lock screen
Like any other market purchase you have 15 minute to decide if you want to keep it or click refund.
I use Lookout to make sure no malware lands on my phone, and so far I had no problems, it only changes my lockscreen.

Not with mine. So you're saying HTC design gets an F- for not testing the product with your particular conductive (there's your problem) case in your particular situation? That seems rather blunt.
If you don't want to try out Incoming Call Plus/whatever you could replace your case with a nonconductive one.
You can solve it with WidgetLocker as someone already told you.
Before widgetlocker I also saw sometimes that the Sense slider moved when I took the phone out of my pocket or my slide-in case, but never as far as it would accept the call.
Now I am using WidgetLocker with Sense slider but it does not use this vertical swype to accept calls. Does anyone know if there is an option to activate it? I would like to use the vertical swype in combination with WidgetLocker.
Thanks

WidgetLocker -> Menu -> Settings -> Popups -> Hide Incoming Call.
If check it should hide the vertical slide beneath a horizontal one. Uncheked it should show only the vertical slide.

If I check it, WidgetLocker hides the call and I have to unlock first, then get the screen with the green and red button to accept/reject the call. If i leave it unchecked this screen will pop over the widgetlocker slider. But its both not what I want . I would like to have the slider (that you can slide down for accept and up for reject) poping up when someone is calling me. Is this possible in WidgetLocker or not? Cannot find any option to activate it, just got the normal slider but without this function.

i am searhcing for the same answer..an ideea anyone?
If you're having problems with pocket answering calls, try this app. I've asked the developer to add some sort of incoming call protection, which he did. It works great for me. Before answering/rejecting a call, you have to short-press a precise software button. There's no way it can be pressed while in the pocket.
Later Edit: The feature is also be present in the free version, so try that one first.

[Q] Unintentionally rejecting a call

Hi,
Sometimes, when my DHD is in my pocket and it rings, I take it out of my pocket and, Unintentionally, rejecting the call (it seems that I am touching the screen).
Any idea how to stop it from happen?
Hi, I use Call Confirm App as I used to have the same problem, thankfully not anymore now.
What is the name of the apps?
Thanks
Call Confirm App
I installed it but it is good only for outgoing calls.
I need an app for incoming calls.
Oops sorry about that still haven't got rid of my hangover yet.
Only other thing I can suggest is get a leather-ish flip case.
I use one I got off the "bay" and it does the job OK.
Del.
Thanks.
No app?
I have exactly the same problem.
If you like, you can check my theme here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=911474 and especially its last post... but I havent found any "full" solution yet.
I have the same problem too.. :/ The only solution so far is to pull it out from the pocket very carefully without touching the screen. That just annoys the hell out of me.
I believe this will solve your problem. It's in the market and it allows you to delay button presses, to prevent accidental rejections. Check it out.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/easy-answer-button-free/org.nsd.easyanswer
Via the XDA app for the HTC Inspire
you have several options, but unfortunely none of them are great! =oP
this "slide" is a part of htc framework, so it can't be changed (if you wanna stay with sense)
so, when i'm with sense i prefer widget locker, it's a really great app, "solve" this problem by put a unlock screen over the original one (so, you pick out the pocket, unlock the phone/widget locker, see who is calling and slide up/down to answer/deny, basicaly you need to unlock you phone twice)
other idea is simply disable the lock screen and use widget locker to unlock the phone, the idea is:
- Disabling lockscreen you will get a incoming call with no slider, it will be replaced by that simple two buttons "answer" and "decline" (the same you got when the phone rings and you are using it)
- when lockscreen is disabled, the screen goes off, but any key turn it on again, so, you use widget locker to solve it, and let the option "over the original answer/deny call" ticked (but it won't stay over anything, because lockscreen is disabled)
you can also try http://www.appbrain.com/app/proximity-screen-off/com.itsme4ucz.screenoff
that app has a option that let your phone with screen off when it is in your pocket, using proximity sensor.
regards
my screen goes blank.. but the call is still pending sometimes.
