Easy root for the Desire?

Hi,
I see the Evo has a simple root process with a program now ( XDA News on main page ), just wondered if anyone is working on a similar program for the Desire as i'm a bit nervous of rooting my phone with the current method, thanks.
There really is nothing to be nervous about! There used to be problems with older methods, but the new method now is virtually foolproof.
Give it a try and if you get stuck or panic then post here for help.
Simple things to remember are follow the steps in whatever guide you use, and let the process finish, be patient as sometimes things look like they are stuck, but they are not!
There is virtually no risk in rooting the Desire now.
Hi

Hi.
A very good Tutorial with Videos is this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1016084. Take a look and remember to read it all before starting.
If you have any other questions feel free to ask them here. I'll try to answer as much as I can, but other members can help too.
I used the thread mentioned above when I came to root my HTC, everything worked perfectly.
Step-by-step instructions.. can't really go wrong

[Q] Any hope of a 2.2 root program?

First, before anyone flames me for being a lazy ingrate, I want to say I recognize that people put in alot of hard work to get 2.2 rooted, to get the instructions posted and to answer the many questions thrown their direction. And I realize these were all done without any promise of a specific reward or compensation. I am very grateful for that, and join everyone else in a big THANK YOU!
The problem is that I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed. My old Diamond could testify to my failed attempts to cook my own ROM (even using a fairly straightforward kitchen). So, I'm worried I'm gonna brick it if I try it.
So, I have two questions:
(1) Is there anything about the 2.2 root that would prevent someone developing a program like the one-click program for 2.1? If not,
(2) Is someone working on it?
I'm not in any hurry to do it, just would like to know if it's something to patiently wait for or if I need to consider taking the risk.
Thanks.
This video tutorial is based on the exact steps in the guide on this forum. It's not that bad.

You can do it ..trust me ...I did it under the influence of 2 bottle of robotussing...I was compleatly tripping out...and still managed to get from 2.2 stock to cm6 rooted..just follow instructions you will be fine

you have been told "what to do" show some pride, suck it up and read.
it is super simple.
if you do not understand then stop or you will be worse off.
just read you will be surprised how easy it is
I love it when someone is handed detailed instructions then asks for instructions again.

first of all i'm not a dude, second i did the guide of the rooting, i managed to do everything but there's a stage where the option doesn't appear in the recovery section. All i ask is for help. If you don't intend to help then don't bother replying.
Plug phone into USB, turn on debugging mode, run revolutionary, enjoy root.
Honestly, it's that simple. The people on here that are telling you that you "shouldn't bother rooting" if you have to ask this question are not saying that to be rude at all. It's a simple fact that rooting gives you privileges to sensitive system files that, if you dont know what you are doing and can't follow simple step by step instructions, can cause you to do extreme damage to your phone such as bricking. Again, it's a very simple process that you will be repeating very often while flashing various ROMs, kernels, and radios. If you aren't comfortable enough following the millions of step by step guides here on the forums then, for your phone's safety, you shouldn't be rooting. Keep reading the guides, scour the forum for the billion of other posts like yours, and then root AFTER you understand the ENTIRE process start to finish. I know you're eager to root your phone but such sensitive things should not be done without full understanding.
Again, nobody is trying to be rude to you at all. It's just that those of us more experienced in the subject know what can happen when inexperienced people try to blindly root, and subsequently flash, a bunch of stuff on their phone. Please try to take a step back and understand this.
Did you download the fastboot drivers and make sure HTC sync is not installed on your computer?

[Q] HTC EVO 4G to Virgin Mobile ?

Hello!
I was wondering if someone could provide me with step by step instructions on how to change my htc evo 4g to virgin mobile service.
I have downloaded a few things already :
1. EVO FLASHING TOOLS. rar
2. VM MMS ROMS.rar
3. VM-official-cm-7.2.0-RC1_Patcher.zip
Will I be able to use the data and internet?
But I have NO IDEA what to do with them. Also, I apologize if this is a repost of a forum already stated. I searched and couldn't find any solutions.
Anywho, any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you root your phone yet? You probably need to start with that so that you can start flashing other images on to your phone. I've never seen those files ( I just started looking because I'm trying to do the same thing ). But a few Google searches wised me up. If you haven't rooted your phone yet, do that first.
Good luck.

LG G2 Please HELP!!

Hello everyone. I've been trying to root my LG G2 for about 6 hours now. I've followed numerous guides and watched tons of videos. I am now stuck on a black screen with yellow text asking me to "send the package you want to apply." I dont know if this is a driver issue (in which case I am unable to find or install my devices specific drivers,) or if I have already ruined my phone..... if someone could take a few minutes and skype me so that I will be able to better explain / take instructiuon I would be very appreciative. I'm new to this and have rooted and installed custom roms on 2 other phones that were a cake walk so I figured this one would be as well...... oh how wrong I was. Anyway thanks in advance and pm me for my skype info or try to type instructions. Just hope I can keep up and follow correctly. I'm unable to use it while this problem persist so i'm trying to get this figured out as soon as possible. Thanks again!
This is the forum for the G3.
