Try Sam Firmware site.
Doesn't look like they've got the exact firmware but you might be happy with something else under the "Asia" group of firmware.
You will need Odin to flash this. Instructions are on the website. And you will need to create a login (simple, nothing much requested to create a profile).

Could someone provide modem file for this firmware???

Ok will definitely try it. Too bad it's not JPO, tho. So after flashing this, is it ok to put in an optimized kernel and stuff?

I got the phone up and running altlast yay... but via recovery mode.. still very eager to upgrade... but with this NZ version if possible

Have you got any way of posting the rom? I have tried upgrading via the keis registry hack and it tells me that the original jj1 is not ready for upgrade.
Any help would be appreciated. I am on the Telecom network.
Cheers.

Be great if the modem from the TNZ could be extracted!

For ROM downloading, try this guy here:
http://www.modaco.com/content/i8000...41/samsung-mobile-firmware-queries-downloads/
I think he's ok. I once sent him 6 euros for a query and a download request and he returned them right back, because my specific ROM wasn't available.

Thanks for the link mate

I'm watching this one as well. After bricking my I9000T already trying to get to 2.2 I'm ikely to try this soon (when I get it back). Not game to do it on the wifes phone
Do we know if this is official TNZ branded firmware, or generic/unbranded?

@all, will this get the official froyo on my 850 next g telstra(australia) I9000T? and can you plzz tellme how to upgrade with kies hack? sorry im a noob, plzz help me out..id be greatful. cheers

Open up 'regedit' and go to the 'HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB' key. Then delete all the keys below it (i.e. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6...).
Then open Kies and connect your phone so that it is detected by Kies.
Close Kies and run the EXE that you download for the Registry Patcher (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=835628).
You should get a prompt to set the patch to 'True', select your sales code (not sure what Telstra is sorry), the current versions you want to report etc.
I haven't gone any further than that personally as I don't have 'my' phone back and the risk of problems from doing the wife's is just too frighting LOL.

I'm with Telstra (GT-9000T) and I flashed this with Kies and the reg patcher. Works well, 850 band still there had to put the Telstra info back in for MMS and Internet.
This had a "telecom" splash on start up and two apps from the the same brand. Still much better then the 26 Telstra puts on.
Hope this helps.

Guessing the two apps were 'Y!X TWorld' and 'Your Telecom'? That is pretty much the Telecom customised firmware then. While I hate customised firmware I'm pretty keen to get to 2.2 so perhaps the wife's phone will succumb afterall

And Flash Player .
I was really surprised when I got the phone home a few weeks ago that I couldn't immediately update to 2.2, seeing is it has been out for months and all. I guess that's one of the annoying things about each hardware manufacturing trying to put their personal touch on things. Might look at the Nexus S for this reason a bit later...

Please note this is NOT a full flash so do NOT select repartition when flashing otherwise it won't boot.
Anyone try this yet? Any benefits or features of note?
Is Kies picking any updates up yet?
So far, so good.

Interesting. Here's a reminder of the build details for JK1 (dial *#*#44336#*#*):
PDA: P1000XXJK1
PHONE: P1000XXJK1
CSC: P1000OXAJK1
BUILD TIME: 01/11/2010 20:10:05 KST
Change List: 589527
Should I go through the pain of re-installing all my apps, settings and root-tweaks just for the sake of a build 9 days more recent than JK1 ?
Going from JJK1 to JJK5:
If you select only "PDA", no PIT file/repartition, no Modem, no CSC and this file the update will not delete your user applications/data/...
Only thing I needed to do after was to re-root it.
PS: But better be safe than sorry and make a backup anyway

Had to re-root, used the z4-Mod app this time (last time I did it entirely manually, via the shell). Reboot...all fine (so far)
EDIT: the system apps remained with their latest updates, but my XDA-sourced Gallery3D apk (in /system/app/) was replaced with the JK5 flash...not a big deal, I'll just overwrite it again, if the sensor bug comes back ! UPDATE: yep, Gallery sensor bug still here...app replaced !
EDIT: AdFree had to be re-activated (no big deal, just something to think about after flashing).
Upgraded from JK1 to JK5 too, without issue.

Dave

Have you noticed any signicant differences between the two versions? Any noticeable improvements? Worth doing it? I always like having the latest but with this being setup just the way I want it, I don't wanna risk not being to do it again. Thanks

Grabbing ROMs from unknown sources, without any change-log whatsoever is a little risky...the only reason for doing it is intellectual curiosity, and the confidence to restore the system if anything fails.

I was quite worried about flashing the PDA component over my nicely-configured Android machine (which took me some time to get how I wanted it to be)...so I made a full Titanium backup just in case (apps+data), and I took notes of the few changes I made to the core system. As it turned out, the transition to JK5 was very smooth, everything that's visible on the surface remained the same...I guess the real changes are buried under the hood...god knows exactly what changed !

[09/03/11][ROM] HTC Hero stock ROM 3.36.405.1 [NANDROID]

This is rooted stock ROM as it comes out of the box with latest OTA. Nothing is changed, except root access.
It is simply nandroid backup image of stock ROM, clean with root access, as I'm not good at ROM cooking. As far as I know Villains are already working on VR13 anyway so if you want flashable ROM just be patient.
For the reference:
latest OTA version fixes Peep security issues and also patches a lot of other system files
ROM is very fast (fastest Sense ROM I ever used) even with default kernel (Neocore:34fps @710 with Flykernel)
very stable, nice low memory killer, even under intense use, like listening music and browsing, Rosie stays in memory
compatible with Flykernel
/system partition is full so if you need busybox you will need to remove some apps.
boot.img is not modified so ro.secure=1 is set to 1. Functions like adb root or adb remount won't work. I started to look into it, but I got lost so if some devs are willing to change it then you are more than welcome.
INSTALL:
unzip file to sdcard/nandroid/[phone_serial_number]/
reboot into recovery
do your ROM backup
do full wipe
restore this ROM from backup
when you use 1st time adb shell, su, don't forget to click "Allow" for superuser

----------------------------------- OTA -------------------------------------
edit: as far as I know it brings update for peep client. Looking more deeply whats inside teddy bear it seems that it patches a lot more files. Also seeing that 2nd major version number changed from 32 to 36 I guess it brings more than some minor updates/bug fixes.
OTA_Hero_HTC_WWE_3.36.405.1-3.32.405.2
P.S.Btw, don't install OTA update on rooted phone. In the best case it will pop an error, in the worst you will loose root access to your phone.

Interesting. Might HTC have a surprise for the 2.1 hero owners? It's just 6 megs though so maybe a small update to Sense? Found a guy on a swedish forum that also reported that they found an update... interestingly.

Its small size because HTC uses patches instead of changing whole file.
That Peep update is only for the HTC WINMOBILE phones. Didnt see an android one in it.

also got a similar update today on my german T-Mobile G2 Touch.
downloadable here:

couldn't install it though (phone is rooted)
anybody able to change it for rooted device?
thanks
Is it possible to change the file for a rooted device? Because I don't like the idea of installing the original ROM again and lose al my settings and apps.
Ok.
To install this, you need to have all the files identical to that way HTC shipped it
So don't try to flash it. If I get time, I will look at making it safe and usable by patching against a clean ROM manually
just checked for updates on my orange hero uk and its there

Not really got anything interesting to comment on yet tbh...
Just deodexing and optimising. I'm not sure if I can get it out tonight or not... Depends on the upload time, and whether or not I will do it then, or upload tomorrow... Even then it might be evening Depends on how much time I get at my PC...
Nothing major yet that I've seen in it though.
I got this update on gsm hero, not rooted, rom 3.32.405.2 I think from htc. This update breaks my phone. After the reboot it stays at the "HERO" screen for ever.

Oh, no rush. Whenever its ready. Btw you could just release clean untouched version, rooted with busybox and leave it odexed.
Ok. I couldn't bear to see the hideous mess it was from HTC...
I deodexed and optimised it fully. I rooted it, and busyboxed it.
But, I got tired and put wrong busybox in it, so it broke.
I will look at it again tomorrow.
Will see about a stock version too, but my upload speed is useless so I will need to see what I can do

[Q] New to HTC... stock rom or network stock rom?

Ok, might seem a strange question but I come from a Samsung Galaxy S and I'm still feeling the HTC very different...
So my situation is this... I'm at Portugal but I bought an HOX (international version) from a British friend locked to O2. I've network unlocked it (ebay code), unlocked the bootloader and rooted it. It still boots up with an O2 splash screen. I tried googling for the latest HTC stock Rom as that would be the way to go about with the Galaxy S but doesn't seem the way to go with the HTC.
That's a bit of the reason why I'm posting this because I'm not even sure what to ask exactly or google for. So here's my main questions/issues...
Am I right to assume that the stock rom on my phone is not an HTC stock rom (like the thing that would come with a sim free phone) but a O2 stock rom? And the reason I'm asking this is because there is a "news" tab on HTC UK, France, etc advertising an OTA update to Android 4.0.4, Software number: 2.17.401.2 on 8/10/2012 (I thought it was today but now I think it meant 10th of August as there are other threads about this dating from then).

So the version I have is Android 4.0.4. with Sense 4.1 but the software version seems older than what is announced on the HTC site: software number 2.17.206.2. Why is that? Because the rollout to my phone is made by O2 and not HTC?
If my assumptions are right, how do I go about flashing a stock HTC ROM because I won't be able to update OTA anymore? I'm assuming that since I'm not in range of the O2 network.
Sorry for the long post but like I said I don't even know how to formulate a short question and gad to give you the broader picture. Any help would be much appreciated!!
Yes, you still have a carrier branded ROM, unlocking the bootloader and rooting doesn’t change the it. You have to flash to change the ROM. Since you have already unlocked the bootloader, you might as well flash a custom ROM to get the most out of your phone.
Head over to dev section, there are many sense based custom ROMs like Revolution HD, maXimus, Viper X etc. The first two already have JB versions (based on a leaked HTC JB ROM). I use Viper X because it has lot of customization options, but they haven't released a JB version yet. Or you can go completely AOSP with Cyanogenmod.
Viperx here as well and enjoying every minute of it. Almost too many possibilities if that's even possible. I
I'll have to take a look at the those custom ROMs, I know it's a bit silly owning a droid phone and being a bit afraid of that stuff but I never had a very good experience with those... always my fault though.
I do realize that a custom ROM is probably a must with this phone, as its been a beast tamed by a lot of software issues that brings it down.
Just a couple more questions... If I fail miserably installing a custom ROM and have to roll back, it will go back to the O2 ROM or is it possible to flash a sim free HTC one? (I already know half the answer but anyway...) Never mind... first pinned thread on the dev forum
And because of such possibility, how does OTA updates work? I'm assuming the phone connects to some kind of HTC server that has the approved carrier update? Or is it done via the carrier, hence rendering my phone virtually impossible to update unless I go to the UK?
Thanks for the help so far guys!
The phone connects to an HTC server using the Internet, not some magic GSM data transfer system, so it doesn't matter where you are in the world, provided you have Internet access from your phone.
Sounds like you have the latest version anyway (for now).
You can't install an official unbranded ROM, but since you're unlocked, you can go with a custom ROM. You can't get the official JB leak because your CID won't match.

Thanks Ben, I spent a great deal of time yesterday looking for your first answer. It's probably so evident I couldn't find it anywhere Again, it's my long years with the Samsung to be blamed... you updated it with the rubbish Samsung Kies (a serious PITA) or via Odin plus whatever ROM.
I've also learned a lot by going through the tutorials here, especially that we still don't have the S-off so that's why things aren't so simple yet.
I was considering the JB with Sense+ too but my CID is (I think) O2---1... so no, it won't work :crying: But Viper X looks good, especially because you can get it very close (or similar) to the stock look. Part of the reason I'm loving the HOX and not regretting getting the S3 is because how simple and clean it looks, without all the gimmicks and clever ways of doing this and that. It might not be so intuitive (at least I'm not used to it yet) but I've already realized it's a lot more to the point than the Samsung stuff.
Well, now running ViperX 2.7 and although I have most tweaks turned off, it's great to have back stuff like the percentage of battery, quick settings like internet network and sound profiles when long pressing the power button and quick settings for stuff like bluetooth on and off from the drop down bar.
Best thing is probably not being dependent any more of O2 updates but still having those with an OTA.
Couldn't still figure out how to make the drop down notification window solid and not transparent. You can tweak the notification bar transparency but not the window? (sorry, these things aren't probably called what I'm calling them but I think you know what I mean).
Thanks again for the help guys!

Ive also been looking to root my galaxy sgh s730m since the day i got it , but havent had much success at all
i did happen to find an unlock for 21.99$ it works great , but would love to have this phone rooted !!! ive tried the process of the ICS Root (Binary) but it failed and did not work , so i guess were stuck for a bit
I've actually used Kijiji today and found someone who said they can root the phone. The they are charging $25.00 I will get it done over the weekend and post back to let you know how all is. I'm gonna try to ask him what program or softwares he used to root this phone
Sent from my SGH-S730M using xda app-developers app
The kernal in my Samsung Galaxy Discover has the last 3 characters listed as "LJ5". A kernal similar to LJ5 which works in a Samsung phone under the ICS enviromnment ma y work.
Has anyone tried the Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v18 method yet? This file which works in Samsung Galaxy S2 and other phones rquires no flashing of kernal.
There are several sites which claim to unlock the Samsung Galaxy Discover with prices ranging from $7.29 to $14.99 to $20. But it would be more challenging to root the phone and have superuser privilege to do changes.
I tried that one as well and got a mounting error
Did the mounting error occur before or after you run "runme.bat" ?

Well i wanted to bring my phone in to get rooted on saturday , but friday night the phone had turned off and wouldnt turn back on again , i have no idea what happened so i returned it to the store and got a different phone , i am done with android for the time being because it seems everytime i get an android it bricks itself or there is some sort of problem with it ,
i will be buying a samsung galaxy s2 though in the next few weeks , im sure that will be easy to root !
so as for me getting the phone rooted , that isnt going to happen unless i do come up with a way to get the discover again , but probally wont be buying it ...
Sorry for the inconvienice
Here is a mobile odin log I got.
But now the phone is unusable, wrong kernel or ramdisk I don't know (touchscreen problem)
Has anyone made progress with this? This phone is hurtin' and needs root...if not then a hammer...
What version of android does this device run? If you are running ICS you can give http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2066041 a shot. Please also let me know, so I can add the device to the supported list, if it works.
well I ran two different versions Polaroid all in one 1.6 and 2.0 and they both seem to work fine with loading up and recognizing the phone however 2.0 said the phone was already rooted when it wasn't, there wasn't much I could do as seen in the screen shot below

I then tried 1.6 and that loaded up as well and asked if I wanted to root or root with google apps and framework so I choose just root it and it asked me to restore and rebooted just fine and said I wasn't rooted, so I'm a little confused. another screen shot below
also I should note that I am a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff, so I may have done something wrong or missed something

Thanks for the tip! I tried it out but I got stuck at the waiting for phone to connect part. I'm sure I could get further, but I've lost all patience for this handset.
Rather than pull my hair out trying to fix this broken out of the box value phone, I returned it to the store for something a little more user (and battery) friendly.
Great can you upload a dump somewhere please, I bricked mine trying many ways and there are no stock rom anywhere.
I need, boot, recovery, and system.
Thank you

It's great to hear that you have rooted successfully the SGH-S730M. For me, I have bricked mine. It is appreciated if your can share the boot, recovery and partition image of your phone to us so that we can repair the brick.
It is fairly easy to backup your ROM:
1. Download and install ROM Manager from Google Play (the free version works great).
2. Run the program and click on "Backup Current ROM" and click OK - remember to have your external Sdcard inserted to have more space for the backup. By default the file name of the backup which will be created is your current date.
3. Look for the folder "clockworkmod" in the sdcard, in there you will find the folder backup, then in that folder you see a sub-folder with all backup files.
For me, I need the file "recovery.img" so that I can restore my blicked recovery of my Galaxy Discover.
Looking forward to hear from you the soonest.
Pls mail me the file to [email protected] or give the link so that I can download
Thank you in advance.

Sorry, folks. Been working on it for almost 6 hours with both romdump and ROM Manager. ROM manager cannot backup because "phone is unsupported". With romdump I am having "segmentation fault".
If you guys have anymore ideas please throw them in.
BTW, that unlock-root worked and it is very simple.

[*] I flashed BL AP CP and CSC with positive results.
[*] Click the start button, sit back and wait until its done.
[*] Embrace the Dark Side.

Somethings to note;
This zip is a monster 7.7gb.
I could not dirty flash and had to do a full wipe.
I could not update Galaxy apps over WiFi, only on LTE. (it may be a network issue unique to me, ymmv.)
Initial boot took FOREVER. It felt like 10 minutes. Loaded on your device its close to 35gb once booted. So what I' saying is be patient on first boot, because activation took another 10.

Thanks for your work.
Compatible devices?
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
@6h0st this is untouched (not rooted), from Samsung, so theoretically there wont be any knox problems. @speedyjay I'm not sure if there are any flash restrictions between devices (other than Snapdragon vs Exynos). I haven't had any issues as of yet, but I could be both very wrong and extremely lucky. I can say with 100% confidence it works great on N975U & U1 as this is a U1 firmware on my U device.
Still uploading 20% as of 0015 PST

Truthfully, I realize that I should have put this thread in General. Honest mistake, I haven't been active in several years. Mods, please shift fire as needed, thank you.

From OP it looks like stock.
Hey guys, I've moved this to the general section for now given it's not exactly a rom and more of a stock firmware. Also any update on a download link? I realize you may have gotten excited and decided to draw up an op which I totally get. It does take quite a bit of time and effort to make one. My guess is that you had hoped it would be uploaded by the time you made it and it either failed to upload or took too long. As I'm sure you know XDA doesn't really like the whole place holder thing so let's try to get the link set for people. Please ping me here when you get it all set. If we can't get the links resolved soon the thread will be of no use and have to be closed. So fingers crossed you can get this sorted out shortly
Almost 8GB???! Great Scott! Does it turn our phones into a cybertruck?
Morning, @Negan. Thanks for the move. AFH failed, I was up until 0200 trying to up the zip, but AFH misfired. I'm uploading to Mega now and should have a proper working link in about an hour or so. Thanks for your patience!
Edit:
Upload complete and hash verified. Enjoy folks!

See this is where it all began... *#1234#* had me on 3 different versions & when I would try to update it would say "unsupported version goto service center blah". So I fired up Odins other half (Frija) and pulled the latest version for the N975U1 with XAA region to minimize bloat. What I downloaded was this 7+gb firmware (that rocks btw), and now it says I'm upto date. Ill know in January when the new patch drops!
Thanks for sharing this with the comunity. A few questions and concerns, first (question), can we revert back to stock non-dark side rom from this?
Second (concern)-you uploaded to mega, not everyone has a mega accnt, an accnt is requiered after certain file size so getting it from there in a no go?.
Third (question), I checked using frija and samfirm, both showed the same firmware with same file size (7+Gb) using diferent CSC's, TMB, USC and XAA, Are they the same?, meaning they ALL are Dark Side edition.
Sorry to bother you with all this, but my note 10+ is on at&t and we all know how difficult the process is for this specific carrier because of the online firmware availabilty and teh specifics on how and what to flash we we switch firmwares.

Not a bother at all! Ill try and answer in their order:
1. Being an ATT device, I think the only challenge is finding the proper stock firmware for going back. I would suggest that you have a copy of the ATT firmware on hand before flashing, in case things go sideways. That being said however, reverting back to any other firmware or rom should be like replacing any other rom/firmware. Because this is stock that has been heavily themed by the OEM in preparation for joint release of the final Star Wars movie, 'Rise of Skywalker'. I think worst case scenario would be you spend all day downloading and flashing different roms until it works.
2. Easiest solution: Open a free Mega account if you want to download it. Or dont make one and don't download. All the choices belongs to you. Finding a (reliable) file host for a file that is sooo big is incredibly difficult. AnonFiles, HugeFIles and a couple more still require the uploader to make an account. I already had a Mega account so I used it.
3. I don't know, I would bet yes if its 7+gb. Happy flashing!
I started with an Unlocked note 10 plus SM-N975U1 downloaded the zip from Frija used odin it booted with the dark side theme applied and December patch.
Also you can use the default theme which is what i was use to. Thanks

Probably not, it's merely 5Gb.
Downloaded and installed. As expected, a wipe ( or using CSC, not Home CSC) is required. Since I got the 10+ I haven't done a clean install , so besides the visual dark theme, it feels like the phone is responding quicker. Pretty sure it isn't placebo, but a result of starting all from scratch. Thanks for the link to Mega to download. Feels a bit like the good old flash OCD days ..
