Headphone controls player pro - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

amazon.com/gp/aw/d.html/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/187-6053214-3652931?a=B002K4GBEI
I'm thinking about buying this headphone adapter so I can easily control player pro without going in my pocket.
Any reply would be helpful
Thanks

There's already a control on the headphones that came with your G2.
^_^

I lost the ones that came with the phone and I don't wanna buy a whole set of headphones because I have a nice pair. Do you think this will work?

I'm sure it'll work.
I use my white iphone headphones with the g2 and they work perfectly to control music. squeeze to pause/play/answer, double click to skip to next track

Headphones with volume control

Does anyone know of any that work with the Captivate?
I will try my old ones from my iphone but I'm almost certain they won't work

I would expect bluetooth to work. The interface is entirely different.
I guess I was just spoiled with the setup that came with my Nokia N97. The wired headset allowed you to use whichever 3.5mm jack headphones you wanted, and had controls for volume, next & previous, pause/play, stop, and phone answer/hangup. Plus a lockout switch, microphone, and antenna for FM radio with RDS. When I tried it on the Captivate, I had sound, but it was very hollow and about half as loud.
I also learned that when you unplug the headphones, the music automatically pauses and the virtual 5.1 surround, if enabled, is disabled and has to be selected again after connecting the headphones.
I do like the design of the stock Captivate wired headset, but the low end frequency response just isn't there. Seems like anything below 150hz is inaudible. I'm still using the earbuds that came with my Pioneer Inno portable XM radio and they're my reference by which I judge all other earbuds. I'm not sure what company made them (maybe Pioneer?) but they are the best ones I've used yet. Granted, I haven't tried anything from Shure, Bose, or the like.
I've been using my Ultimate Ears TF10vi, and the play/plause button works just fine but they have no volume control, so can't comment on that specifically.
I also haven't tried to use the mic yet, so I don't know if that works or not - I heard the Galaxy S had some weird issue with the wiring that made it incompatible, but haven't tested with the Captivate.
I am very surprised that the ones provided by Samsung didn't provide a volume control..
I am too. The volume rocker still works while playing and the screen is locked.

Tested my iPhone's headphone... only play/pause works and I was surprised it did!
Does anyone think the Skullcandy 50/50 earphones would work?

All buttons work, and the sound is actually good.
Looking at them i was like "" then I was "" after seeing the price.
I figured what the heck and got them, figuring i could return them.
After using them for awhile, I give them "".
If you have a big head, these probably will not be what you want.
I am in no way a fan of the box club, but the price is right.
I've been using my wife's that came with her HTC Aria and they have play/pause and forward and backward buttons on them and none of them work.
On a side note, I hate the in-ear headphones, anybody know of a good pair that sit on the outside of your ear, like the old iphone ones?

The stock Blackberry headphones work. No volume control on them. Just one button. It works for calls and music and it's not in-ear.
Here it is on the Android Central store. Nevermind... Can't post links yet apparently. Go to the Android Central store and click on the Captivate and take a look at the headsets.

Media controls

Hello all, thank you for any advice given. Many headsets have built in buttons or even full sets of media controls.
I have a portable amp and IEMs hooked into the vibrant. Wow it sounds great!
However, there is no way for me to control the music without taking the phone out of my laptop case. It can be a real pain in the subway.
Are there any sort of media control remotes that I can plug in line to skip tracks, pause, etc.? I was also wondering about blue tooth, but I am a little worried of battery loss.
Thanks again for any advice!
Sent from a Samsung Vibrant.
Not sure if you would be able to control the music if your are running through an amp. I'm sure if you checked out amazon or ebay there are line in remotes that might work. If you still have the stock headset you can see if the controls work through the amp.

Yes, I would use it on the line in side before the amp. I have been searching everywhere, but I can't find them. I guess I don't know the term I would search under.
Does anyone have any links to this device or what I should search under?
Thank you for the advice about the headset, but I am using IEMs that don't have controls built it. So I would need a separate in line controller.

I just ordered a set of Zagg Smartbuds they have a mic in line volume and music controls some of the music players support control functionality, cubed does, thers an app called droidshuffle that extend remote functionality. I got a 50% off coupon, just enter their contest and theyll email you a code. $27.00 shipped is damn good for those.

This is a tough one. All I can think of is using a bluetooth remote, but I don't even think they make those or have compatible ones for the phone.
Have you tried asking the Head-fi.org community? I think you have a better chance of getting an answer over there since it is filled with audiophiles that have used all types of equipments for home, portability, etc.
Ya, for some bizarre reason I've been hesitating. Maybe it's because everyone I'm there I get distracted. Lol

[Q] Bluetooth STEREO Headset A2DP

Hi, I am planning to buy a bluetooth stereo headset mainly for listening to music.
Therefore, I want the headset to have A2DP and the headset button's can function properly and sync with the captivate.
My first choice is the motorokr s305... I want to verify first if the buttons (play/pause, volume up/down, and mainly NEXT/PREVIOUS button) are working properly with captivate...
By priority, I want to be able to 'next' and previous my songs, mute/volume button, and then play/pause button...
If there are any other recommendations, please let me know!
TIA
I have been using the sony ericsson hbh-ds205 for a couple years now and it works perfectly with captivate. Has all those features your looking for but the best part is you can plug in your own headphones cause it has 3.5mm jack. Which is great cause i can also hook it up to my home stereo system via rca to 3.5mm and hook it up to my car stereo. Has Mic and the play button is play/pause/and answer. With a clip too, to clip to shirt or wherever. Music quality is excellent too
Battery life is great too 8hrs continuous music playback (i think) and like 15 days of standby. Seems like more though I get two days of music listening at work on one charge.
Check it out. Might be hard to find now. I only saw em on Amazon and eBay. I recently got another one from eBay for 40 bucks cause my wife put it through the wash it still worked too just wouldn't hold a charge after that.

T-Mobile just got in some Plantronics Backbeat 903+ stereo headsets. I bought one and it works great with my Vibrant and Captivate.
Works great with Pandora, track forward play/pause and volume up/down.

Wow dude just saw that i think im gonna get that now for sure cause im such a fan of the old one and the new one has even better battery life full buttons instead of a rocker and caller id...sick! Im sold im convinced these are the best bluetooth devices for music listening. Thanks for the tip!

so, with the sony erricson one, you pause play volume up and down using the thing that u clipped on your clothes? i dont like the idea of touch volume control, but i almost never adjust my volume so it will not be a problem with me, lol...
im going to think about this headset, very interesting! the only down for me is, i dont like plug type headset because i dont know why my left ear cant "plug" the headset in, it always came off, even though i already put smaller rubber cap thingy so it can fit in (my left ear hole is smaller than my right one)

Bluetooth headphones

I see Motorola makes blue tooth stereo headphones. Has anyone tried to use these on the xoom?
Yeah,
They work just as good as they work with everything else with the xoom (which isn't bad but not that great either) My main complaint is they have swappable ear pieces that keep falling off.
Jvward
PS. I am talking about the S9-HDs for the record.
I have a pair of the S305's and really enjoy them. They work with my G-tab (so im sure they work with the xoom) It's great not worrying about wires.
I have the S9-HD too...and it works great with the xoom.
I've got the s9. Sounds fine but too small for my head. They go around the back of the neck and keep getting pulled out of my ears. I really like the Jabra pendant. I think the model is BT3030.

I have the Jabra BT 3030 Dogtag pendant and it ROCKS!!!
The best part its that you can use your favorite ear buds with them.
My buds of choice the Klipsch S4's.
I also have the Altec Lansing Backbeat 906's, they are cool but don't sound nearly as good.

I've had these for 2 years or so, but holy **** I paid 80 total for the headphones, an extra battery, and a 3.5mm to bluetooth converter. Wow, 300 bucks now...
I've got the s9, I like them. It does talk some getting used to if you have been using the in ear ones as these seam to sit more on the ear than in them.
Another S305 user here and I love them. Sound is good, the fit works well over long hours of use from yard work to workouts, and the price is great.

I have the LG HBS-700's and love them and they are comfortable as all get out.
I have had S9's for a couple of years. Work fine with the Xoom.
I have the Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980 and they work great with the Xoom. The media controlls are great and work with the Xoom too. I like this headset since I can pair it with phone for headset use and the Xoom's audio at the same time.
I bought these from Best Buy for my Nexus One last year.. they work great on my N1 and Thunderbolt... haven't tired it on a Xoom but assume they would."

I also have the best buy rocketfish headset. Not very stylish, but they work well and are comfortable. My only caveat is that I experience some slight visual stutter when watching video while using them. Not sure if it is happening to others or if the headset is to blame, tho.

Love the LG phones...the best sound and great, wearable design.
Moto S10's confirmed to be working here as expected.

Hi all,
I'm using my tried and tested Nokia BH-500 Bluetooth Headset with my Shure EC2g in ear phones with excellent results for both Music and Video and all the functions work perfectly with it. Although it doesn't alter the volume on the Xoom it does have its own volume control which increases the volume available from whatever its attached to. The only thing it won't do is control anything but the in built music player if I try using it with Lithium Player it just launches the Xoom music player. For video playback I'm using VPlayer and it works fine for sound but no other controls work with it, I now no longer feel I need Lithium as the Music Player on the Xoom does a great job and I like the Album art view it gives and just don't really feel the need for the widget Lithium play gave me any longer.

ive had the dr-bt22a's for a long time now and they are awesome at work.

Bluetooth Headset?

Which is the best bluetooth headset which works with Galaxy Note? I want one can let me listen to music, talk in the phone and it has buttons to control volume & songs changing. Please kindly suggest some, thanks.
I have the SE MW600, I didn't get my Note yet but I have read in this forum it works well with the note.
A very nice BT headset with Called ID Display as a bonus
I'm using a Blueant T1 (http://www.myblueant.com/products/headsets/t1/) and it works fine with the Note.
I make no claims to how good it is compared to other BT headsets as its the only one I've owned, but it certainly works more than good enough for what I need.
EDIT: Wait, you need song changing too? Cancel the T1... it has volume up/down, and a voice command button (which doubles as accept/end call) but no media buttons.
yes, I need to one change songs with it as well. I want the Bluetooth headset as two side in-ear, I listen to mp3 alot, but the original headset has a cable and it always blocking me, that's why I want a bluetooth one.

so, Sony Ericsson is working for Samsung? How's the sound? I am picky in sound.
Oh well, for me, the sound is pretty good. But I am far from being picky
I have SE MW600, its voice quality is not that good (far end usually complains from low voice). in addition I'm facing trouble with it with me nexus one (It hangs up if I receive a missed call without till I restart it again). I think it's not good with Android as I tested it on non-Android device it worked good
I use the Nokia BH905, which is quite pricy, but the sound quality is excellent and works fine with the Note.

Yea, they do work with the standard music player, never tested it with Spotify, although they ain't seperate buttons (long press next = ff, long press last = rewind.)
Just got the note today and, for me, if works great with the mw600.
Voice quality is great by my standards and track info shows but not caller name.
I have ordered the JayBird Freedom headset. I mainly want to use it for music and audio books. Once I have received it I will provide some feedback on how well it works with the Note.
I use this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052XQFKE/
It's convertible meaning you can use it in your ear as a typical BT headset, attach the provided stereo headphones for music (includes a mic) or there is also an adapter that allows you to plug in any headphones you want. I drop the BT unit in my shirt pocket while listening to my Bose QC15's. Powers them quite well (9-hour battery life).
Highly recommened, especially since I got them for $10 after rebate.

I'm a big fan of the Sony Ericsson MW600, but I don't like the slides-volume-thing...
I hope WP7.8/WP8 will soon get an update so all mics/music controls work as they should (or as they do on an iPhone, which has set a standard for lots of accessoires).
