[Q] Looking for the most recently updated ROM, that is still stock and rooted? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does anyone have the most recently updated ROM, that is still stock and rooted?
Just looking for something that is really stable and has as good battery life as the most recently updated stock ROM.
Also, I want an "as close to stock" rooted ROM as possible to play with making my own ROM. Any recommendations on how to get started?
Already did a search and couldn't find any recent Evo rooted stock roms. :/
Thanks!

Rom

Hey everyone, I just rooted my device and was looking for a custom rom and was wondering if anyone could give me any suggestions. I know all the roms offer something a little different depending on what the user is looking for, and was looking for a rom that had all the bloatware removed, optimized for performance and battery life, and maybe have a coll updated ui. Im looking forward to your suggestions
Also, since i just rooted it do i need to flash the radio before or after i put on a custom rom(or do i need to do before and after)
also.also, i backed up my system using titanium backup right before i rooted it, will this allow me to put back all the apps i downloaded on my new rom? if so, how do i do this.

Read the rom threads and this does not belong in this section. Ask in the Q and A forum
I installed fresh .3 and my battery dies in 2 hours without having even been used.
Probably not fresh's fault but just saying.

Rooted stock ROM + custom kernel?

I am rooting my 2.2 phone tonight and all I want to do is get rid of the damn 30fps cap, remove bloatware and keep everything else pretty much stock. Is it possible to load a custom kernel when using a stock rom or do I need to use a custom rom as well? I really like how sense integrates facebook into the contacts and don't want to lose that.
Also, any kernel/rom recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I have an 003 evo with a Novatek screen.

Most custom kernels work with any ROM, as long as they are for the same build! I put emphasis on this because if you use the wrong ROM/Kernel/Radio combo, you could brick your phone. So do so very carefully. Only use a kernel/radio if it is built for a specific build number.
So I need to find a kernel that is for the 3.26.651.6 build that I want to install? Do you know which kernel will work?
I've had good luck with netarchy's kernels(currently using v4.18). You can find them in the dev section. Using a stock ROM here.

i just flashed this today, so far i'm pretty impressed and liking it, especially since i'm also using Netarchy's HTC OTA froyo final build, both work perfect together so far, i've seen my fps so far bounce to 47fps, lol, sweet.
Thanks for the input guys. I used netarchy's kernel with the rooted 2.2 rom that got installed during the 2.2 root process. It works great and looks awesome, it's so smooth.

Hello Everyone;
I have a Droid X running stock ROM version 2.2 I have rooted to remove bloatware but have not done much else. I am interested in using setcpu but do not want to do so unless I can monitor CPU temp. I am wondering where to find the kernel for this, what is it called, and how do I install it step-by-step.
Sorry if this has already been answered but I have been searching for quite some time and can not seem to find the answer.
Thanks For the help.

[Q] Stock google roms

Sorry if this is a noob question but I did quite a bit of searching and could not find anything.
Is it possible to install stock google roms on a DZ? I would really like to install the latest version then have it update itself by OTA. My phone is rooted and currently running Cyanogen Mod 7.1.
Thanks!
Id stick with cm7 from my personal experience its close to stock android Rome and it runs remarkably well
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA App

Yes, it is possible to run stock android roms on a DZ, there are several different variants out there right now. Just for example there's virtuous g-lite (look in the dev section or on virtuous' homepage) which is currently on version 2.3.5 I believe. A more up-to-date rom seems to be this one: 2.3.7 (please read the op, some issues still remain).
Though, as far as I know, you will not be able to receive OTAs as these are pushed to your phone by your carrier. If you want to receive OTAs on a DZ you will have to revert back to a stock sense rom.
Any ROM that works on the G2 works on the Desire Z (as long as you are rooted and S-Off, which you obviously are if you are on CM7). So if you want, just go to the Developement section and you will find pre-rooted versions of the G2 AOSP ("stock Google") ROMs. But make sure the ROM is pre-rooted. If you install an "official" ROM that is not pre-rooted, you will lose root, and need to go through the whole process again.

[Q] Stock rom without bloatware for S3?

Hey all,
For a while now, I have been running a very cool AOKP blend on my s3 with all the latest bells and whistles. I am getting kinda tired of all the little things that dont work on this ROM. Does anyone know if there is a ROM that is basically the stock rom of the S3 except the bloatware is removed? Ideally it would still allow for root if possible. I just need a stable ROM where everything that worked with the stock rom works here.
As always, Thanks in advanced!
You can just use Titanium Backup to freeze/remove anything you don't want in the stock ROM. If you search, I believe there are debloated stock ROMs available elsewhere on xda.

[Q] Flash EVO 4G back to stock ROM

Does anyone have a working link to a stock EVO 4G stock ROM that can then be used to update to the latest stock ROM+radios+whatever? I've been searching around here and the Internet in general, but I'm having trouble wading through the sea of dead links to stock ROMs and links to ROMs that have been hacked to remove radios and whatnot.
I've been using the last good Evervolv JB ROM and it's just too unstable, and my radios and stuff are probably out of date too, so I'd like to try going back to stock for a while.
Note regarding root: It would be nice to be able to keep root, but not if it means having to use stock ROMs that have been modified to the point where it will be a pain to update to the latest stock ROM+radios+whatever. I can always re-unroot myself if needed.
Thanks!

I'm looking for the exact same thing... I'd like to go back to the stock HTC Sense ROM, but I've lost my old backup copy (long story) and having trouble finding a suitable replacement. Did you happen to save a backup of your stock ROM before switching to the Evervolv ROM? If so, could you send me the Zip?
Or, if anyone out there on the forum could help, that would be great.
I was hoping to get some benefit to a more recent version of Android, but all the ROM's I've tried thus far seem to have one glitch after another. I'd prefer to go back to a stock, or some slightly upgraded version of the SENSE IU. Any suggestions appreciated.
I downloaded this ROM as it looked like a good "SENSE-esque" ROM, and looks like most everything is working on this version.

Thoughts?
I don't have a backup of my stock ROM as far as I know.
I really wanted something close to stock, so I think I ended up settling on [Rom]TN_Elousions3.2_OTA_5.07.651.6_Deoxed_Stock_Theme.zip which is a moderate mod of the last stock ROM.
I ended up going through the S-OFF process as well to make sure that I had the latest radios and such.
It's functional, but between the Sense changes and the fact that it's Gingerbread-based means that there are some things about the UI that just aren't as nice as Evervolv. The upshot is that the battery consumption is lower and the hardware features work or work better (4G, FFC, camcorder, FM radio, etc.).
I'm tempted to try one of the last official Cyanogen ROMs just to see if I like the UI better than Sense, but I'll probably just stick it out until I get a new phone.
