water dammage supposdly - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

hey guys i was using my touch pro 2 and when i was charging it,it just stopped working. i never dropped in a toilet but the indicator is red......what do i do to use it again and i didnt drop it in water

Try to do a soft reset. How low did the battery level get ?

The humidity sensor could have just been exposed to excessive humidity, or other environmental factor that made it turn red. If you didn't get the phone wet, the charging issue is very possibly not at all related to the moisture sensor.
Make sure you are using the wall charger, not USB; since USB will not provide a sufficient charge if the battery is discharged too low. Let the phone sit on the wall charger overnight and see if the phone will power up. If not, you might have a bad battery or other hardware issue.

yeah i did that and it didnt turn on. i think its humidity and now im mad cuz it doesnt work.what should i do

As far as I know the indicator is red when you get it. It should be red with a criss cross pattern and when it gets wet it bleeds into the squares in the criss cross pattern. Does anybody know any different. Also check the moisture indicator under the battery.

It is a white sticker with a criss-crossing red pattern on it until it becomes wet. Then it bleeds the red ink over onto the sticker as was mentioned. If it hasn't done that, then call it in for warranty repairs.

HTC provides a 15 month warranty on all devices. Try giving them a call. It takes way longer than going through the carriers, but worth a try.

Galaxy Nexus dropped into water! Australians in melbourne look here!

Hi guys ! I hope Im posting this on the right section, anyway posting this on behalf of my friend,
He dropped his Nexus ( still under warranty) into a toilet handbasin which has water in it . He turned it off and took out the battery and cover to let the phone to dry overnight. His speakers weren't working at first , but after a few days, they were fine.
The problem is :
i)Charging is inconsistent now. Phone doesn't charge even it is plugged in , sometimes it does. He have to keep on trying till it says charging AC)
ii)Phone hangs A LOT
iii)Reboot more than usual
iv) Shorter battery life
Question :
i) He wants to return it to Vodafone Australia but not sure if they know the phone had drop into water? Is there a way to know?
ii) Is there a way to fix any of the problem?
iii)(For australians in melbourne) If he can't return it to vodafone, any good service center to recommend?

ii. Try soak in rice overnight. Should be done after the drop. Anyway u can always try. It works on my Nokia .Dont know if it work on smartphone.

Hey thanks ! kind of been a week already . Think it still may work?
Chances are permanent damage have been done.
Put it in silica gel next time, i think it absorb water better, but remember to bake it first before using it.

Think he can return the phone without getting caught? I heard there's a red tape some sort of water indicator inside the phone. Is that true?
Yes there is. If you take the battery out, at the top of the 'slot' that the battery rests in theres a little white piece of "tape", that normally has just X's on it. Not sure what it changes to if it gets wet, but thats how they would tell.

Notice the square XXXX inside the phone. Its on the right frame just above the place where the battery is.
My friend checked his, the indicator still okay! sent back to vodafone!
Correct me if I'm wrong, but 99% of the time that indicator is white and BECOMES red when there's water damage. As in, red Xs means water damage.
Edit: After thinking about it and using a bit of common sense, yeah no - red Xs has to mean water damage. I also checked my own phone (with no damage) and, as expected, white indicators. I have the Sprint version so maybe some small, tiny chance it's changed, but neither of mine are X'd and I bought it brand new.
Editagain: Did some research. Apparently my indicators are reverse to everyone else's, but they could still deduce that the problem is water damage - it's not too hard to determine for someone with a bit of hardware experience. I wouldn't get too excited.

Dropped in the Toilet!!!

I was washing my face in the morning and the phone was near the sink. When I was leaving the washroom I tried to grab the phone and it slipped through my hands and went inside the toilet. I grabbed it within 2 seconds and gave it a quick dry with towel and turned off. Took out the battery and spen and put it in a rice.
I owned sgs1 and sgs2 for years and no such thing happened but this 1 month old phone just went swimming. Damn!
It has been 24h so far and I will wait another day to try to turn it on. I hope nothing is damaged. I am pretty sure it will work but afraid that something might be damaged such as camera, speaker, vibration or any other small thing. I really don't have any tolerance to have any kind of damage. Hope it will recover just fine. I will let you know tomorrow.
one quick question though, should I close and seal the rice bag tightly or let it aerate?
If I remember correctly it's recommended to place the phone in a bag with uncooked rice. It's suppose to help remove moisture.
You will probably be ok, seeing as you got it out so quickly. The same thing happened to my old Galaxy S2 about a year or two ago and it still working just fine.
My current rule is LID DOWN.
You dont have to seal it as long as its dried well and just let the rice soak up as much moisture as it could. Check the liquid damage indicator (circle litmus paper located just above sim tray) and check if pink or white. Also check the litmus paper on your battery as well since it could also be the battery that may be the problem. I would also highly suggest to go to your nearest Att device support center so they can determine if its your battery or your phone (free service) so you wont have to waste money buying a battery. If they still cant turn it on with another battery then your phone may be kaput.

I also remember quickly seeing something pink near the sim tray and seemed odd to me but I don't know what it that means? When its pink does it mean it took water? which color it should be on a new phone? Also if that indicator changes color is it gonna turn to its original color when its dried?

Yes that's the liquid damage indicator. If moisture gets in contact with that litmus paper, it'll turn pink and that'll be an indicator for the service technicians or warranty services to determine if it's out of warranty. On new phones, the litmus paper will stay white and won't ever turn back to white once it has been in contact with water. Since now that you know it's pink, it doesn't always mean or show how much your phone has been affected by water and that's why I suggested that you take it up with the AT&T Device Support Center to see if they can at least replace the battery (if that works).
Go to this website to check where the nearest location is (www.att.com/dsc). Otherwise, you can call Warranty Services (operated by AT&T as well) through 1-800-801-1101. Tell them your problem that it can't turn on and ask them if they can send you a replacement battery via mail (being that you're still "under warranty") but DO NOT tell them that you have water damage, otherwise they may notate it on your account and may not send you a replacement battery. If you do decide to go to these centers, granted they still might notate it if it's water damage but they'll still try to help you by trying to replace a battery either onsite or expediting the shipment of the battery via mail (1-2 business days).

I think you misunderstood me. My phone was working when I turned off to dry it and I still haven't turned it on yet. I will wait 48h total before I try to turn on again. I don't know yet if everything works.
Is it possible to send the phone to service so they can replace the indicator after they check everything works perfectly? is it even possible?
The thing that I don't understand when I remove the battery cover, back of the phone was dry. The indicator on battery is still white. I don't understand how it changed color so suddenly and the battery indicator didn't even tough it seemed dry...

I may have misunderstood, my apologies but like I said, if the device shows a pink on the litmus paper, your warranty has just been voided and no they cannot replace the indicator. If you send it in for replacement, you'll just be paying full price for the phone plus you'll get a refurbished unit (in my opinion, it's not worth it). It's better to just take it to those cell phone repair shops and see if they can repair the internals for a cheaper price but sometimes that isn't worth it as well. Just keep letting the rice soak as much moisture as it can and if it still turns on, more power to you. However, you still want to check the litmus paper near the contacts of the battery to make sure if it's white. If it's pink, the battery may be affected and can cause problems with either battery life or power issues (not being able to supply power efficiently to device and may cause it to restart or power on/off).

It's just the placement of the indicator that allows it to be more prone to contact with moisture and since the battery wasn't affected, it was probably just hiding well that it didn't make contact so you may not need to have your battery replaced. I'm just concerned about how your phone will function after it has been in contact with water so if you start seeing weird things happening on your phone, I suggest you start backing up all your information while it still works because over time, depending on the severity of the moisture exposure and if worse comes to worst, it may not turn on for you.
I've been experienced with these problems since I used to work at the AT&T device support center and I've heard a lot of people who came in with those problems and it does really suck to see their reaction when they know that they've lost all their data especially when we can't turn it on for them.

Had that happen to me also. If you heat the rice up in micro wave as it is placed in a sock it will be a lot more effective. I have used that method many time the heat will help pull moisture out. You Google it to about rice in a sock lol. Heat it up pretty warm put it in it let it sit and keep repeating. And for a safe measure on the day I was planning to boot it back up it sat in the sun for a fee hours and the damn thing was so hot it worried me. But kinda like with an old school distributer cap even though it looks dry its not. And I think the sun beating down on that screen for about 4-6 hours took all little patches of moisture out. And that is my method for when phones enjoy a swim lmao hope it helps

thanks. I tried as you said put rice in a sock and used it to heat up the rice bag. I also think will be more effective. I am also thinking if I force the water evaporate inside the phone so fast isn't gonna cause some condensation issues possibly condense on the screen? well I already did. big day is tomorrow...

No, the rice acts as a desiccant, it will pull all the moisture out of the air. The heat will help pull it out from under chips and other surface mount components.

After keeping the phone in rice for 48h I turned it on for the first time today and so far everything works as normal.
I tested both cameras, sensors, spen, speaker. I only had a little buzz coming from the speaker but after blowing some air it turned to normal. no problems so far.

[Q] Missing Water Damage Sticker

I have 3 s3's on my account. I have had intermittent problems with 1 of them lately. It would not charge. No matter what cords I used even swapping out the battery with another s3 this one phone would not charge. So for a day I just charged up my battery in one of the other s3's and swapped it back and forth. When plugged in it would show it was charging but it could sit all nite and % would go down. Well I was cleaning the battery connectors with a q-tip and some alcohol trying to figure out if maybe it was some sort of connection issue. In doing so I touched the water damage sticker with the qtip thats on the phone under battery. It slightly changed the color. I wasnt sure what it looked like before so I checked my other s3 and it had no sticker in that spot. Had the little square outline where it would go but no sticker. I purchased this phone brand new so I know it was simply not there to start. My question is this. Due to my problem with charging Samsung is covering the cost to send it in for repair/replace. I know it never had water damage and any hidden stickers inside the phone will back that up. But my worry is because of the slight change in color from q-tip alcohol would I be better off just removing it like my other s3? I know some people say that the removal of those stickers voids warranty but that would tick me off seeing how if I ever have a problem with my other one that never had the sticker they would void it.
EDIT: I should also add that after a day the phone started charging again fine. This has now happened 3 times. Will work fine for a few weeks then all sudden the no charge issue comes up again. Then going away on its own. I just dont want to keep going like this and have one day after warranty is up it not charge again.
my sprint gs3 also has no stickers.. can anyone verify what is up with this? is there more hidden ones in the phone itself????

Mine had the charging problem and I received a replacement free of charge. As for the water damage sticker idk how that's going to work for you. I will tell you this. When I took mine in they looked at it for 10 seconds and then just said we'll send your replacement in the mail but then again all techs are different

[Q] Strange issue , really freaking me out ;)

Ok just 2 days back got this used E4GT , the phone was said to be having a voltage too high issue and apart from that everything was supposed to be good
But looks like i was scammed
any ways the phone has multiple issues
1... when u turn it off it repeatedly keeps cycling b/w blue and red LED , and shows charging battery icon , when there is no charger attached
and regardless of how many times you press the power button the phone wont boot,
to reboot u ll have to connect it to charger and then press the power button.
2.. whenever i plug it in to my PC its detected alright and does what it is supposed to , but when the usb cord is removed , it keeps showing the usb icon as if its still connected.
3.. the blue lights turns on itself and keeps flashing
4.. i saw that voltage too high error just once
is there a way out , and i am also noticing that the phone is losing charge faster , it came with 2 xtra batteries , the og is swelled up so using the generic samsung og looking battery

While you're at it clean the battery contacts and pins in the battery housing. Also new batteries would benefit you as you have no idea what the previous owner did.
If there are still issues after that try doing a complete restore one click to get back to completely stock with root to rule out any possible tweaks or corrupted files causing problems:beer:

Or the previous owner dropped it in water which would cause your problems. My old epic took a serum with me in the river and did the same issues yours is doing.

As I was reading the OP I had a feeling there had to be some kind of water damage causing all of this.
I say take it apart and clean everything up really good and before you put it back together completely, hold the battery in place and try to boot it up. I never had water damage but my volume rocker was sticking so that it would boot into safe mode or download mode if I held only the power. I took it apart and cleaned up the volume rocker then pressed it about a dozen or so times, then held the battery on the pins to see if it booted up normally and the rocker was working then after I had it fixed, I snapped everything together and put the screws in.
You don't want to put it back together then have to take it apart again.

What some people have done (I haven't) is take it apart and let all the parts sit in a bowl of rice, which will draw out the water.
What I did, but wasn't with a smartphone, was take it apart and let the parts sit in front of a fan for 24 hours, and it worked fine after that.
If I the warranty is voided then you should be OK to do this. Search Google for the following "e4gt replacement parts". I'd replace the USB port if I were you. Its like $10 or $20, but at least that part's new.
Also most likely water damage.

Once water damage has set in and corroded the damage is nearly irreversible. The traces on the board become permanently damaged, hence the issue he's having.
Circuits that aren't meant to be touching have been bridged by the water, electricity flowing through the circuit now causes the minerals to oxidize, creating a white powdery substance. If that substance sets too long it can bond with the traces and PCB. At this point the circuit is damaged and "cleaning" off the corrosion will sweep away the oxidized minerals and the traces to the board that bonded to it.

Yep, I'm aware of everything you said. I was just giving a suggestion also for anyone reading this thread to follow - if the damage had just happened within a day and it was taken apart and dried immediately. In this case it's very likely it's too late, but it's good knowledge to spread that it has worked in some cases. I also don't assume anything, since the phone in question isn't in front of me.

1... when u turn it off it repeatedly keeps cycling b/w blue and red LED , and shows charging battery icon , when there is no charger attached
and regardless of how many times you press the power button the phone wont boot,
to reboot u ll have to connect it to charger and then press the power button.
2.. whenever i plug it in to my PC its detected alright and does what it is supposed to , but when the usb cord is removed , it keeps showing the usb icon as if its still connected.
3.. the blue lights turns on itself and keeps flashing
4.. i saw that voltage too high error just once
is there a way out , and i am also noticing that the phone is losing charge faster , it came with 2 xtra batteries , the og is swelled up so using the generic samsung og looking battery

I had the same problem before but I never dropped it in water but regardless, it would do everything that your E4GT is doing. For about two months, whenever it would do that, I would take the battery out for 10-20 minutes and put the battery in. If it rebooted by itself, then I would take the battery out and put it back in and kept doing that until it didn't reboot by itself. The problems would go away for about two weeks then come back. When I got tired of doing that, I decided to upgrade to Jelly Bean and that fixed it (was on ICS when the problems were occurring). If you're already on JB, I would try downgrading to ICS. Changing from one JB ROM to another doesn't fix it

Question Z fold 3 won't charge

So sitting in my hot tub switching songs and I turn to look at something and dipped the very bottom portion of the phone in the water the outside screen turned green and turned off I put it in rice for 3 days the outside screen does not turn on anymore but the inside screen did.. and now will not hold a charge and the battery has died.. it says it's too cold and needs to cool down before it can charge. are there any remedies for this? I'd like to get the rest of the stuff off the phone or get it fixed
Power down and do not restart or attempt to charge.
The battery should be disconnected asap.
It needs to have the cover(s) pulled and dried out first.
Rice is useless. Tik-tok, time is not a luxury you have. Corrosion never sleeps.

This actually happened a couple of weeks ago.. and I don't know how to pull the covers
If the water is outside on the port it wouldn't be a problem but it's internal (display failed). Get it looked at soon.
If you never removed the cover(s) before now may not be the time to learn. If salt or brine water got into it it's already dead, fresh water may be salvageable.

It's hot tub water which is soft water but these things are supposed to be water resistant

Obviously not. Regardless of their IP rating I always assume my N10+'s are not safe to water exposure.
Try using a hair dryer with the cool air setting to blow the Type-C port for a while. Then try again. If that doesn't work then try a different cable

The display was effected meaning the water is inside. Trying to power it on will only do more damage.
