[SOLVED] Where did my lockscreen clock go? - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a G2, not a DZ but it's running Sense (Virtuous 7.2)
I figure I'd find more Sense expertise over here (until the merger makes it a moot point )....
Anyway...
I was messing around with Launcher Pro and Widget locker. Decided I wasn't a huge fan of either and uninstalled them. Now my lockscreen clock is gone.
I'm talking about the big widget one with weather in the top half of the screen, not the little one on the actual unlock slider.
I've spent the last hour going through every damn settings page I can find and I'm unable to find a setting for this.
Things I've tried:
Reboot - nothing
Switching scenes and skins - nothing
Clear Sense data from "manage apps" - nothing other than having to rebuild all my home screens
Things I have yet to try:
Restore nandroid from before - I'd prefer not to.
Factory reset - same.
So... is there some way to turn this back on? It's a small thing but I really like that widget on the lockscreen.

If its not that one, apologies.

Yeah that's the one. I've removed and added it to my homescreen and that works fine, it's just no longer showing on my lock screen.

I've never had my home screen Sense clock showing on my lockscreen, just the time showing up on the Android slider on the lockscreen. Maybe I've missed an option though ?

LOL don't tell me that, now I'm starting to doubt my sanity... Perhaps I'm thinking the big ugly stock android clock????? Agh. I'm going to make a new backup and then restore that old nandroid. That'll tell me if I've lost it or not.
Thanks all.

You must have added the HTC clock/weather widget to the widgetlocker lockscreen.. stock HTC lockscreen only has the small clock on the bar

isnt the clock widget meant to "flip"?

Isnt the default clock widget meant to flip the numbers over, (so they flop down, hinged in the middle of the number?) like when the time changes?
This is what it shows happening on the TV advert for the desire.
Yeah you're right, whats the point in the look of it if it dont do dat?
Anyway I never used the big clock, I have a couple of little ones for my country and the country of my girlfriend. The 5th one along when you choose from the HTC clock faces, top right in the attached pic.

Quite right, i had to stare at my phone for a minute but it' strue, it doesn't flip. That said, coming from a Touch HD i can tell u that the clock flip was a huge performance drainer and a big problem in all roms. It took the devs quite a wile to be able to disable it so i can only guess this is the reason! No biggie!! i've had my desire for a while and hadn't noticed!!

HTC removed the flip animation back on the hero during a firmware update and haven't put it in any versions of the Sense UI since.
ah thats a shame, im sure the desire could handle it.
its just a bit misleading that in the tv advert it quite clearly makes a point of the clock flicking over

Yepp they removed it I am REALLY glad that they removed it, it is also on Sense 2.5/2.1 on WinMo too..and man that is annoying(it is cool first 2-3 times)..tnx God we have XDA who disabled this in WinMo
it lasted about 2 seconds on my phone then I got pissed off with it and deleted it.
JAmes.
this may sound like a silly question but how do you customise the clock? i'd like to try out other versions but cant see the menu settings to do it..
cheers,

Just remove the clock widget and add it again. When you add it you'll be asked which clock type you want.

Yep that was so annoying. Glad it isn't on the main clock any more, however all the other clocks jump back to 12:00 and animate round to the time randomly. Hate it.

[Q] shortcut to put phone in standby?

Hi all,
I'm not a fan of the powerbutton on top of the desire so I'm looking for a way to create a shortcut to put the phone in standby...
Anybody any idea how this can be done (e.g. using the "make your own" feature in bettercut)
I've found something called intent.ACTION_SCREEN_OFF but I have no idea if this can be used
Cheers
B
I'm interested too. Anyone?
Make that 3. I would be interested in any kind of app that would allow you to put the phone into or out of standby. The power button is kind of annoying in my opinion.
How about Lock Screen Widget?? its on the market
Payed app? Can't seem to find it on the free market.. does this put the phone in standby or does it just lock the phone?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Its definetly on the market(just checked), and it says "lock your screen with one click iPhone style"
or u can just press lock button on top of the phone
u mean: "lock screen widget", its on market for free =) i use it too..very fantastic app
ok think I'm going crazy... still can't find it on the market, can someone post the apk (if it's free)?
when I scan the link on appbrain I also can't find it
http://nl.appbrain.com/app/com.droidmania.lockscreenwidget
cheers guys

Lock screen Widget , fantastic .Just one tap on ICON on screen , the screen is locked .
ok just found out why I couldn't find this one, apparently it's for 2.2, I'm still running 2.1
cheers
b
anybody any solution for 2.1? I don't want to upgrade to 2.2 yet...
cheers
B
Try LOCKENABLER. Despite this application has 6 second count down before dimming the screen, it perform similar funcation as LOCK SCREEN WIDGET but works for 2.1.
Lock Screen Widget is the best way to put the Desire in standby without pressing the switch hardware button.
doesn't work in combo with widgetlocker... anyhow the delay doesn't do it for me, any other options?
right beside battstatt is lockscreen widget, but with invisible icon
just mark it for you with launcherpro+

I guess 2.2 is worth the upgrade if you want to use your phone features to a new level, and a lot more apps. Plus, with the forthcoming release of Gingerbread, 2.1 will be (almost) let down.
f.
well my 2.1 is running perfectly - not a single thing bothers me - and I've read people having issues with 2.2 so I'm not sure about upgrading at this point

~~~calling all techs~~~
I DO NOT want a lockscreen on my HTC EVO. I already uninstalled the htc lockscreen then I was left with a transparent vanilla lockscreen that you slide from left to right. I dont want any lockscreen. please help.
Did you perform any Google searches at all? I found this in, literally, 5 seconds:
Bye Bye Lock Screen
all of these no lock apps work only half the time, so I'm so tired of dealing with lock screens. I have already used no lock app, and it worked 60% of the time then my lockscreen kicks back in. just want to uninstall all lockscreens even the vanilla one
Switchpro has a toggle that disables the lockscreen. It's in there as "auto lock screen". Works just like it's supposed to.
so I dont want to use anyones half working apps to block my lockscreens. I want to literally go into a file on my evo and uninstall all lockscreens, HTC and Vanilla
Switchpro works great and works 100% of the time.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Go get a flip-phone.
No, really, I'm dead serious. Go get an old flip phone and use that.
You would probably have to decompile the framework and find the file.....probably the services.jar file....but that's just my guess.
come on I know some of you are tired of having an app that trys to block your factory lockscreen only to have it kick back in sometime. For example if you have LockBot pro lockscreen running, it does a ok job trying to keep your factory lockscreen not to kick in. So I just dont want any kind of lockscreen running. that way my lockbot pro can run without any issues
this has been hell for awhile now, all people keep saying is to install some half working app from the market...everyone of those dont work all the time, I've test just about every one, and my factory lockscreen shows its ugly face after a while
Like I said...No HTC or Vanilla lockscreens... this is the vanilla lockscreen I'm talking about that kicks in after the uninstall of HTC Lockscreen I'm left with this:
and dont have Tmobile I have sprint this pic is the only example I can find of the vanilla lockscreen
Yeah, It will require some code editing. I don't believe that there is a simple uninstall. Try decompiling the services.jar and see if you can find the lockscreen call.
No Lock app from the market, works like a charm.
Post your Galaxy Nexus home screens
It would be great for people to share their home screen setups, I'm interested to see what is possible with ICS
Unfortunately I can't attach my screenshot as I can't post external links yet.
You can take a screenshot within ICS by pressing the volume down button and power button at the same time.
After using the official (landscape) Samsung dock...
I was thinking, a great launcher app would be when the phone is put into the dock, the launcher activates a setting and a specific layout of icons that you would want to use with the phone (while in the dock) comes onto the screen automatically.
Thoughts?
I like it. Sort of like a car dock app.
Something like a big clock in the top 2/3rds and a row of icons on the bottom.
Yea exactly.
I just got the idea because I have a custom layout with ADW Launcher and I have something like 5 rows and 6 columns and so when its rotated the icons on the screen are pretty hard to press so sometimes I hit/launch other apps.
So this concept would help me out a lot.
It's interesting that the 2.1-2.3 clock app had exactly what we are talking about. It wasn't customizable though.
They got rid of it in 3.0+
That is pretty much exactly what I was thinking. If there is an app in the play store that does this I'd pay for it.
How about this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.DevBob.DeskClockPlus
Does the GNex not do this on its own when inserted into the landscape dock (when you are running 4.0.4 and higher)?
It does. We are just talking about alternatives.
EDIT: To add to this. The stock ICS clock removed the quick launch icons and weather and just displays the clock now. (which I'm sure you already know)
Sure, you can press home and go to the launcher but it would be nice to have the features of the old clock app with the ICS look.
All it does is just show a clock that is intended to use at bedside. Once you touch the home button it brings you to the launcher you are using.
You can with this app. It requires an add-on purchase though. Here's the quote from the app description.
Optionally, you can purchase an extension that will allow you to add additional buttons docks and choose your own applications to launch from Desk Clock Plus. Swipe left and right on the dock or on the time and weather to re-arrange the layout. You can also swipe the time and weather panels to reconfigure the clock's layout.
I also, sent the dev a message on G+ asking if he had any plans to base off the ICS clock or add an ICS theme.
