Kingston 32GB microSDHC (class 6) - is it real? - General Accessories

I have just bought this for my Desire:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/32GB-KINGSTON...AsAccessories_MemoryCards&hash=item230c6c00d1
(scroll down a little cuz the listing is over, but u still can see the description)
It says that it's a brand new 32GB class 6 microSD card by Kingston, but I could not find anything about it on the net. The only 32GB Kingston cards I could find were class 4.. so, can it possibly be a fake? The seller is with 100% positive and is from UK.. What do you guys think? Maybe it's sort of a new product still to be introduced or something?

Chances are is it not a class 6 as Kingston does not list it as a product available from them.

10 Year Warranty ? I 've never heard As far as i know here we only 've 5 years Warranty for SDCards I don't know much about UK One

Well, I'd take it even if it was a class4, I would be disappointed though. I'll of course let you know about how it all went when the card arrives.
More opinions perhaps?

Sounds like a scammer.
Most high classed cards on eBay that are sold cheap usually are scams.
Say like you bought a 16gb card.. It would come as 3gb.

Well, then I just return it, and eBay offers buyers' protection, so I don't think I will lose a lot. Also, that seller really has sold a lot of things, has been on eBay since 2008 and has 99% positive feedback.. Do you really think he could be a scammer?
Also, 30 pounds is not THAT cheap, is it?
Here is feedback on the seller: http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=viraldarshna&ftab=FeedbackAsSeller
As you can see, I'm so hoping this is actually a good deal and not a problem sending things back and so on..

That is extremely cheap.
16gb cards go from 70+ USD (52 euros)

I bought one as well - mine is coming from Japan however =)
Ebay item=220707787049 (I'm not allowed to post outside links yet since this is my first post.
True though that Kingston does not seem to have such a product... we'll see when it gets here =) If you get it sooner, could you post a speedtest?

Yeah, I'll do that. Hope we both get lucky with these cards..

Yeah me too. Mine has just been mailed, in about a week I'll report back =)

well.. I bought a similar item, a Kingston 32gb Class 6 SDHC. It was cheap, so I had to try. Got it today, and tried a few speed tests, and only got about 2 mb/second
made a complaint on ebay, and the seller is now offering me to send him the card back, so I can get a refund... I'm more interested in seeing, if this really is a 32gb card.. so I start to copy... this is going to take a while, so I will be back with more results later

So, is the capacity real?

Ok, so I got the card. The markings look cheap and fake, the packaging - too. But the card is indeed 32GB. And, of course, not class 6. Mor like class 4, though at the very beginning the writing speed was less than 4MB/s. I can't make up my mind if I should keep it. If it's really a class 4 card, it's okay. But I'm afraid that it may corrupt my data or eventually go bad.. So, is it safe to call it a class 4 card? What would you guys do, would you keep it? Rememeber, it's price was under 50 bucks, so maybe it's worth the bet?
I attached the benchmark of it.

Ok so, isnt there some benchmark that tests if the full card is undamaged and writable? If it isnt, you still got a cheap 32 gb card... right?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App

Don't know if this test tests that. Dunno any other tests u can run on Ubuntu either.

It turned out to be a complete fake with less than 5GB available.. He is not getting his money. And nor is he getting that piece of **** back, for it belongs in a trash can.
I hope those *****es rot alive.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully I will be a bit luckier. I'll report back when I've received mine...

I bought that exact same card.
When the card arrived it was slow (around 1-2Mo/s instead of 6+) but after only 3 days of regular use it stopped working.
It wasn't recognised anymore by any reader (tested in PC, Wii, camera and Android phone) and I couldn't even format it.
So I had a close look at it and noticed the product number was SDC4/32GB which is in fact the product number of Kingston's class 4 32GB micro SD. (since they never produced any class 6 32GB micro SD, only class 4 and 10). Also the inscription was a bit different from what I could see on goole image for Kingston microSD.
Finally I sent it back to the seller who gave me back my money.
Here's a pic of the card: http : // hpics.li/09be9f2
Edit: As far as my opinion goes: this card was a fake, although it's just me and I can't really prove it.

Your picture is a proof.

So I just received mine as well, package looks real but no idea if it is... Will test it tonight, no computer nearby...

Lexar 32gb micro SDHC class 10 card...failx2

ok so I am now about to be on my 3rd 32gb Lexar class 10 micro sdhc card. I am thinking that the first two since they were in the same shipment batch that they were just a bad bunch of cards. Just wanted to put the warning out there to you guys. My cards will just show up as corrupted and will not mount. Having to use a forensic software to pull all the non-backed up stuff off right now.
Anyone else having any problems with them?
I havent tried Lexar but I did buy a 32gig Class 10 Patriot and it has worked flawlessly so far
I have the lexar one and it works fine.
just warning you...37 days into this card and it failed....the first one lasted a little over 2 weeks.
back up, thats all I am saying
I got one coming... i'll see how it goes

Thx. I decided to try the Patriot version instead (not that it has any better reviews, but a few Atrix owners have reported success with it). Cheers.
Been running lexar since first week had the phone, no problems yet. What batch yours come out of? Also, ordered from provantage, shipped from new jersey or georgia one, will have to double check.
couldnt tell ya. I do know it was the very first shipment of them that came into our store like a week or two after CES. Im just thinking it was just a bad first batch. 3rd one is going fine so far...
I got mine through Beach Audio via Amazon. It's been working fine so far.
I got my Lexar class 10 a few weeks before the Atrix, it has been in the phone since the first boot and has worked great.
There is a known issue with micro sdhc cards with the atrix. Just like with the windows phone. Motorola is supposed to be coming out with an update to fix the issue.

What kind of prices are you guys finding on these SD cards? It seems silly to me to buy a single 32gb card for $100~ when you can get 3-4 16gb cards for the same price.

Link to anything that mentions this known issue - this is nothing like Windows 7 -where the SD card slot was blocked at release.

The highest capacity model of any data storage device always has a higher per unit of storage cost than lesser models... but it also holds the most. You've got to pay to play.
If you wanted to have access to 32 gb of data, you wouldn't want to be swapping out two 16 gb cards as needed to get that capacity would you? To me, that seems silly.

And I understand that. For me personally, taking 15 seconds to swap an SD card isn't really a big deal, especially since with this phone (thank science), the card slot is easily available under the battery cover, instead of the battery itself.
But, if I can get a decent price on a 32gb card I'm all for it. The price difference just doesn't seem worth it (to me) to save the 15 seconds
If you want to carry all 32gb with you, where di you put the extra 16gb card? It gets old remembering to put accessories in your pocket.

Anyone else getting VERY SLOW transfers speeds with this card? Average I'm getting is 3.5mb/sec which is well below normal!! Therefore, it takes awhile to transfer a movie from my PC.

Like I said, it's really all about personal preferrence. I carry a shoulder bag around with me everywhere I go, so remembering accessories isn't really an issue. I always have my Lapdock, charger, bluetooth mouse, etc. with me at all times. This phone replaced any need I had for a netbook.
Still no word on prices people have got for these?

I have Clear & Present Danger and The Rock recorded on a Memorette video tape. I don't have a VCR though..

I always stick with high quality Panaphonic products. Or Sorny.
Yes, it's a well-known Korean manufacturer. The only question is: will you get original product of fake. I don't know how to see the difference when buying online.
Original Memorette cards should give you 11Mb/s write speed. Friend of mine bought this for $99 a time ago. You can find such cards for $45 on eBay but are they original...
Memorette 32GB
The 32GB MemorETTE cards can be purchased online for about $10 per card in quantities of 15.
How many people think that a $10 card with that capacity/Class 10 can actually exist in the year 2011?
I tend to think these are knock-offs.
Yeah at that price, what you are getting is most likely a 2 gb card that has been hacked to read 32gb. When you go to add your media or whatever, everything after 2gb is currupt and not really there since you ran out of space after the actual card size.

Hey, I bought this one as well, fake as it can be. I have also ongoing claim with Paypal regarding this. Looking at it afterwards it was too good to be true anyway.
I also had a bad experience with this product. I could put 32 gb worth of info on it but it would never read all of the info. I mostly used it for movies and I would put about 10-15 movies on it ( each movie about 1gb) but I would only be able to watch the first couple of movies once I put the card in my tablet. My computer and tablet would show that it had 32gb on it so I just though it was my device and not the card. I think I am screwed because I bought it 3 months ago. What Ebay seller did you Buy it from. Maybe if we all bought it from the same person then Paypal will allow me to open a case.

I just thought that My G-Tablet wasn't reading the card correctl or the format of the movies wasn't working so I kind of gave up. I should have done a search to see if others were having problems.
I have one of these - 32gb memorette sdhc. Does not work well in my HTC Sensation. pictures start disappearing, video doesn't play back, carded apps begin to fail.
Now here's the odd bit - seems to work fine in Lumix G2 camera. Pics, video all stay just fine. Even when i put this in my phone after - the lumix G2 pics stayed on the chip and could be viewed on the phone fine but anything taken on the andriod phone started to become corrupt after a hour or so.
Can anyone else do this test??
***** I now think this is because the camera does add extra data so its not going over the 2gig which these cards are most likely to be. Got refunded anyway *****

Haven't heard anything really negative about Lexar, so hopefully it's good.
But you have to be careful with those cards off of ebay, you can often get fakes. Make sure you check it right when you get it (use something like what's discussed here: How to spot a fake SDHC card... I believe there are also apps in the market).
Again, hopefully it'll be all good, but if there's any trouble, hopefully you can report it to ebay and get a refund.

Generally, Samsung cards are of very high quality. Not sure if you've ever used one but they are very reliable and are made to work. The class you pay for is the class you get.
There are other reputable card manufacturers of course, but with the widespread availability of them now, there is a much higher risk of a fake or being duped with a low class one.
As far as I know, rip off samsungs are rare if even in existence. I could be wrong.
As someone said Samsung makes good quality card, and this one is Class 10 so its speedier. I don't understand the shock/water resistent bit. Isn't flash memory shock resistent by nature?

I own this card and it is specifically rated for 1080p vid plaback and top transfer rates. You have to look beyond that someone stammped "Class 10" on thier card. If you don't believe me, buy a Wintech card and tell me how its treating you when your data is just gone one day and the card cannot be reformatted.
I payed $50 for this card and it is worth every penny.

Got my card in the mail today. What kind of speed test results do you get (using SD Tools)? I'm showing 5.1MB/s write and 8MB/s read. I also don't see any "card info" when in SD Tools. Was hoping I could see manufacturing information and a serial to prove this isn't a fake Samsung...
Real-world writing yields about 10MB/s write.
I always thought Micro SD cards were faster... then I remembered that just full-sized SD and CF are even remotely fast!

Fantastic find, I'd buy it if I didn't already have a 16 GB SD card...
Got my card today I am really happy that I bought this. It came unopened with it's original samsung packaging. Comparing with the one I bought from amazon... check the pics below.
Mistaken entry.
Ordered mine about 4/5 days ago and received it today. Although I had a 16GB (not from Samsung) and didn't use all of it up, I still went ahead and got this. Can't go wrong with it, glad I got it.
I got 10.22MB/s writing and 32.16 MB/s reading using the SD Card Tester app.
Transferring music over seems to be a lot slower than it was using my 2gb card though. Is there a preferred way of introducing a new sd card to the android operating system?

[Q] sd cards dilema

hey guys am looking to purchase a memory card but ive ran into a bit of a problem
these are the memory cards ive been looking at
this one is a sandisk ultra micro sdxc
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-mic...keywords=sandisk+micro+sd+64gb#productDetails
and this one is a sandisk extreme micro sdhc
http://www.amazon.co.uk/SanDisk-SDS...sr=1-5&keywords=sandisk+extreme+micro+sd+64gb
now the ultra is 64gb and the extreme is 32gb as thats the price range am willing to spend now the question is, is it worth it getting the extreme card as at the end of the day yes it has a higher transfer speed but its smaller than the ultra and for a mobile phone will i notice a difference in the transfer speed is it worth it getting the extreme one over the ultra? what do you guys think? as i carnt really afford the 64gb extreme memory card at the moment
micro SD
Currently I'm running on 64gb ultra from SanDisk, and it is fast enough for everything You would do on mobile device such as HTC One M8. If I was You, I would go for 64gb if You have them in more less same price range.
Two days ago I brought on popular auctions site extreme ver. of same 64gb micro SD I'm using currently, still waiting for parcel. It is from HK, so it might take up to three weeks to arrive, but if You want I can report back here (compare them both in every day use), price was very tasty like for 64gb.
The bottom line is, it all depends what You will use that card for. Do You need 64gb of extra storage, will You have dual boot, etc. I can't really see much difference between ultra and extreme in every day use.
no worries buddy il be using the memory card for storing pictures on and playing music that will be stored on the memory card am not doing fancy things with the phone like dual boot or custom roms or anything as am happy as the way it runs stock tbh

I'd probably go with the same advice. As long as the card is fast enough for Zoes (which Class 10 should be) its good for anything on the phone. And double the capacity for £7 looks like a good deal.

I'd be very cautious about buying SD cards from auction websites, or any source where the reputation is at all questionable. Sites like eBay are awash with counterfeit SD. Its just too easy to mark a card as higher capacity or speed class and jack up the price. The cards will even read the "fake" capacity on your device, but fail when you try to move files exceeding the actual capacity.
Personally, I would rather spend a bit more at a reputable vendor like Amazon or Newegg rather than worry about such things. Vendors that reliably deal genuine goods; and have a solid customer support reputation on the off-chance that something does go wrong.

Personally I like to buy things like SD cards from countries where they are made, in most cases You will have free P&P, and if You not tight with th time it is the best deal out there. This time I went for bit dodgy seller only because the price , it was very low - so I was prepared to loss all money. But if You have some sellers there who after 5000 - 10000 of sold items still have 100% positive feedback - You can't go wrong there. I used to sell on site like eBay, and I know it is very hard to make some people happy, even ed hen You will do everything right.
I have an unbranded 64gb class10 I got on eBay for about 10$ and its fantastic, the transfer speeds are are expected for a class 10 too.
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=151417801693&alt=web Plus the seller says they will replace it if it doesn't work properly. I have mine filled to about 75% about 47gb and have recommended the seller to at least 5 personal friends who all bought at least one and are satisfied. With eBay follow the seller rating if a seller has 500+ reviews with only a few naysayers then you should be fine, also look into return policies pick a seller who has a good rating, good return policy and good prices and your golden.

I'll agree with that (as well as some of the similar statements in the post above yours). I mentioned being cautions buying from vendors with questionable reputation. But obviously, eBay rating (especially very high, with a decent number of transactions) qualifies as "reputation".
And yes, I would not even bother buying products like this unless their is a good return policy. You also have to weight in the time/hassle of such returns, particularly for foreign sellers (not applicable in your case). For me, I'd often prefer to just buy from a vendor like Amazon or Newegg, where I know the probability of even needed to utilize their return policy is low. Just my preference, I'd rather spend a little extra to not have to worry about the time and hassle of a return. But I also recognize that everyone has different preferences in that regard.
