Mugen Power batteries in early 2011? - myTouch 4G Accessories

According to a rep I emailed, Mugen Power is making extended life batteries for our battery eating HTC Glacier that should be released sometime early 2011. For those who don't know Mugen Power, they have a reputation for making extended life batteries for every popular smart phone on the market.
Typically they'll make 2 different batteries for each phone, one that aims to fit like a stock with an added 400 or so mah, the second tends to require a custom backing and can often be double the stock mah.
Honestly? I can't wait. ^.^

In the tests I see Mugen did absolutely terrible. In my experience they *can* make good batteries, but have terrible Q.C. The 1st batt I received for my N900 only lasted about half an hour when fully charged. The second lasted over two days on a charge, when stock couldn't even last one.
They seem to be very much a "luck of the draw" kind of company.

posted this in the seido innocell thread as well:
dunno where i saw it (somewhere here on xda prolly N1 forum) but some guys put every aftermarket battery for MANY phones up against HTC's stock batteries the astounding results:
NO aftermarket battery from ANY mfg. has EVER beaten HTC's stock battery...
(this is referring to batteries that fit in stock battery enclosure)

I disagree fella, I myself can verify that Mugen power LiIon battery is superior comparing mAh to mAh against stock HTC batteries. I mean its not just BS they do have respected branch in the market when it comes to manufacturing batteries which is durable and long lasting which is tested by many. But for it to work you have to completely discharge it few times I normally do it for 2-3days before actual use for optical performance.

Now keep in mind the stock battery is 1230 mAh and the Mugen power stock size battery was 1300 mAh. So the only difference here was 70+ extra mAh yet after extended test and usage I can respectfully say I got 3-4hours extra with Mugen than the stock size which is alot when you compare the batteries and its only 70 mAh extra which is nothing.
Now keep in mind from those SS the TBattery 0.60 does not verify the actual full mAh as its preset to the max of stock battery which is bug in the program. At the beginning to me it did seem the stock battery was superior as time went on and after many full discharges, Mugen power battery come on top.

It's here

Both battery's are listed but aren't shipping till Feb. 18th. They could be manufacturing them. 1650mah is the normal sized one. I think I will get that one.

Chinese 3500 mah batteries actually 2 batteries stuck together!

I bought two of these Chinese 3500 mah batteries for like $20 from eBay. They were charging like 1500 mah batteries and not lasting as long as they should. I figured, what the hell and tore one apart. Here is what I saw:
Not one solid battery but two stuck together with a metal strip connecting the two. Is this normal for this type of battery or is it supposed to be one solid piece? This looked very jerry-rigged to me.
The serial number on it is 044060A. Do your own research on that but I came up with just the fact it is a Chinese battery as one would expect. When I went to the site that sells them it did not indicate the mah of the battery. Very odd because how would you know what you are buying? It did confirm the 3.7 voltage however.
Here are pics. Please forgive my dirty fingernails as was putting down hardwood mulch in the garden all day

There could be a wire connection somewhere in those two, but yea man... Sad to say it looks like you may have gotten a rip off.
Sorry man.
Any way you can take it somewhere to get it tested fully?
Wow thats ghetto!
Would you mind posting the link for the auction? Perhaps as awareness to the rest of the forum to not buy from.

Lol, can't recall what auction I bought these at.
However, I am pretty sure that all of these $5 3500 mah batteries are pretty much this.
My guess is they get all the seconds (defective) batteries from this manufacturer, solder them together, put a pretty package on em and sell em on eBay.
most large batteries are made this way, take apart your cordless drill battery and it will be smaller batteries linked together, hell take apart a 9 volt and see what is inside so it is not unusual to put batteries together like this

Ok, cool, didnt know. Was just wondering why it was performing like a 1200 mah battery and not a 3500.
Wow. I have bought two 3500mAh batteries on ebay... so far so good. I can go for almost 2 days without charging with normal use. The stock battery had to be charge about 3 times a day.
The sellers (ebay) were: wanshopping and feitong2009. My only compliant was with feitong2009 which took a month to get the battery which was coming from Hong Kong. I normally get Hong Kong products in about 2 weeks.

How long does it take to fully charge your battery from empty? Divide minutes by 60 then multiply by 650 and you'll be close to your true mah.
Mitchell's EVO
Nothing too surprising about it being two cells connected in parallel internally. If the internal cells are supposed to be 1500mah like stock then the battery should have a 3000mAh total capacity. Even if they kind of suck at 1200mah each, 2400mah is still a pretty big improvement over 1500mah.
Oh, and if you weren't getting the performance you were expecting from the battery, did you try wiping your battery stats? The percentage meter on the phone is going to act a bit wonky if it is calibrated for a much smaller battery. I've got one of these batteries and after wiping the stats it shows a definite improvement over the stock battery.
Did you wipe the battery starts when empty or full or does it matter?

Clearly the writing on the outside of these batteries are lies, since they do not last as long as they should.
However, for the cheap price - it does supply you with those extra critical hours you might need.
Also, the charger is very handy and also works with the stock battery! (hopefully does no harm!)
I ordered a 3600mAh battery from eBay last week. I don't suppose you have tried one of those yet have you?

About this battery, do you seriously expect it to make a difference? You won't be able to fit any case on the phone either. On the other hand, 16$ isn't the end of the world..
(Also, how do you charge them both, suppose you'll need a cradle of some sort?)
Thanks for posting, never did think these sketchy batteries were any good.

Re calibrating the 1900mAh battery today, will post updated stats later.
Added the re-calibration of the 1900mAh. First reading wasn't bogus, the battery lasted even less second time round! ~6 hours!
So in other words, whatever it's rated at, cut it in half if its cheap crap.

After 3,5 hours of use (some Wifi/phonecalls) still on 100%!!! No way with stock LG battery... nice one.

I've read those are pretty good for use, typically better than stock batteries, but that they tend to drain a little more quickly when the phone's in standby than stock batteries. Regardless, I bought a couple. They're cheap enough, I'll give it a whirl =) worst case scenario, a couple extra backup batteries for me!

Have you actually put the battery through a few full charge-discharge cycles? Without putting it through a few days of use first, it is not really possible to tell how the battery performs compared to the stock battery.
It seems fishy that this battery is the same size as the stock 1800 mAh battery, but has a 30% increase in capacity...

been looking for something like this for a while. Should be great if you could give us a complete review & comparison. Thanks
I did not have much time the last days, here a short update.
Battery meter shows 100% for a long time, after some reboots it will go down to 90% but no change in battery meter if i dont do a reboot. Later the phone will shot down without any warning.
I will try to fully drain the battery and charge it in my phone with stock LG charger, see how this works out. I charged it with the 3rd party charger, that comes with the battery.
Also no success with battery calibration (because it won't charge if meter shows 100%) and clean battery stats in CWM.
Hi Cromson, can you test the battery calibration with Stock ICS, thanks!
To me, a battery that can't actually report its battery level (and has a questionable third party mAH claim) isn't worth ANY amount of money.
Just buy a second OEM BL-49KH battery and swap them out if you are concerned about extra bulk, and if you aren't get a Hyperion "3800" mAH battery.

The fact that it cannot actually report battery level is highly suspicious. The Hyperion 3800mAh has no problems reporting accurate battery level.
So are there any other alternatives to fix the battery life? It's really horrible...what roms are you guys using?

3500mah same size as 4500mah, possible?

I know I also posted this thread in the Q&A section, but "apparently" that's not the right section to post it in...so I'm putting it here as well.
Hey guys
In short: bought a 3500mah battery for my phone, love it. Saw a 4500mah version on eBay and looking at getting it. Is it possible for them to make a battery the same size as the 3500mah, but with 1000mah more juice? Or is it a scam? Everything looks the same size, and the back cover looks identical.
I bought a TPU case for the whole thing to protect it for my 3500, so if it won't fit with the 4500, I don't really want it.

those 2000mah~3500mah are just BS, the real MAh is like 1500~1900,
your better off buying 5 1500mah or 1800mah on dealextreme for 2-3$ each that is real 1700 mah..

You're actually quite wrong. There was a thread on here about the 3500mah battery that I have. Someone did a test on it and it was in fact actually around 3200mah...less than advertised but still double the stock battery...and I am getting double the usage out of this battery than my stock.
Don't buy cheap batters , they are bad.
try 2000 Mah samsung battery , 2450 Gold Battery , Momax 2600 Battery . Mugan battries
and any expensive battery
i've tested momax in galaxy s1 , it's perfect
now i'm using 2000 mah battery on galaxy s2 , not bad but it doesn't double the battery.

Well maybe some are lucky, i wouldn't spend so much for a bigger battery ans bigger device. I would go for 5 1800mah batterys(50 '5 stars rated) and an external duel charger, on D.E. for around 8$. That's more then 15k mah and you never have to worry about charging your device

Anyway those are your opinions...I'm happy with my Chinese battery and pretty sure I'll remain happy with it.
If you're not going to answer my original question, please stop posting in my thread. This is not a debate of name vs. no-name brand batteries.
Bump...anyone have experience with the "4500"mah?
İ dont think so, i use 2500 mah but same 1500 original battery
I bought this battery from ebay.
http://www.ebay.in/itm/SAMSUNG-GALA...TTERY-3500mAh-BACK-COVER-DOUBLE-/270936599914
Although it claims to be 3500 mah but sadly it is only 1650 mah
My opinion dont buy Chinese batteries...

Why do you say it's only 1650mah? I bought one identical to that and it's been amazing...at least 2x the battery life of my original Samsung.
Good, with the batery, the phone is really horrible !
