[Q] S-on after flashing custom rom? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I'm just curious to know what happens if you revert your bootloader back to s-on after flashing a custom rom.
Will it put your current rom into a locked state like how things are when you purchased the device? i.e. Will the phone become nand locked with the custom rom data?
I think this would be useful if you wanted to lock your phone up for the purposes of using the new Theft Aware app.

I believe eemc jumps in.
So big ass triangles on you screen, no boot and bootloader locked at ruu mode.

[Q] Bootloader and Rooting - Differentiate

Hi All,
I'm new to this XDA and i'm really dying to get a clear picture of what is a Bootloader?
and what does an Unlocked Bootloader and Unlocking bootloader mean?
Secondly does Unlocking the bootloader and Rooting are the same??
Switch off your mobile, press power plus volume down button together for a while, the white screen u will see is called bootloader or HBOOT.
now if u will read very first line u will get S-ON and this state is called locked bootloader and when u will S-OFF it u will get an unlocked bootloader....the process of unlocking is called rooting or to gain whole control of ur phone by offing ur security...

an unlocked bootloader means that you have full nand access and you can manipulate the images on your phone - flash them. you can, for example, flash a new recovery image / another rom.

[Q] HTCDev Unlock

Hi guys...
I am losing it here....pulling my hair out...
I have rooted and flashed roms on a Gnex and a HTC Incredible S and I have never encountered so many dam problems doing so...
The DHD is a pain in the rear. I have GB 2.3.5 and I tell you what...GRRRR haha
I gave in and went with the HTCDEV (Official Method) and I'd like someone to tell me what the F*&K that actually does....I thought it unlocked your bootloader....nope...
Theres a big UNLOCKED in the HBOOT but it means jack... I can flash recovery, then I try and flash CM7 for example and the thing wont boot...WTF??? So do i still need to go S-OFF anyway?? IF so, HTC WTF??? Whats the point in this stupid "unlocking" crap....so annoying... If anyone could help me understand this I would be much. much appreciative...
Thanks in advance...
you have to get ENG S-OFF before you can flash custom ROMs. Relock your bootloader and use AAHK (search it on Google, attn1 removed it from xda) to get super cid (SIM Unlock), root, CWM & ENG S-OFF

You don't need eng S-OFF to flash ROMs, S-OFF is OK. you need to flash the boot.IMG for the ROM separately when flashing ROMs on a HTC dev unlocked device. That's why I doesn't boot after flashing a new ROM. Relock it and use the advanced ace hack kit.

Thanks guys....
*sigh*.... I've been on this now for like 30hrs straight... I actually have root an everything and it still wont s-off.... I'm trying to downgrade now and that wont work either....goldcard and everything... I've looked for the Hack Kit too... I must be looking in the wrong places... I cant find it or I'm just too annoyed to see straight...haha
Just want to say i really appreciate your answers guys...
Sorry, I wouldnt normally ask but I'm just spaced...can anyone point me in the direction of the kit...probably not as its a little sensitive I know...just putting it out there...
Thanks again guys... I feel sort of lost now...like wtf ya know... haha
Cheers.
EDIT:
I did find something and it looks pretty bad...haha (Slow your bootloader??? jam you up?? I dont like the sound of that...haha)
Do NOT attempt to install earlier ENG HBOOTs on these models. AAHK now has Hboots that safely support fastboot image flashing.
Doing this WILL severely degrade bootloader performance on Inspires and DHDs and causes issues trying to install RUUs. In other words, it WILL jam you up. (Note: Issue confirmed on later DHDs – ignore at your own risk).
Sense 3, including those with RELOCKED HTC BOOTLOADERS (NOTE: NOT UNLOCKED – MUST BE LOCKED OR RELOCKED) is auto-detected in hack step. Option is given to download a GB RUU and downgrade or abort. This WILL wipe data.
6 days ago I decided to unlock my phone with HTC dev and I tell you what, that is useless! Fortunately I found a guide that save my life! Firts relock the phone then you have to downgrade with AAHK and finally always with AAHK you can unlock the phone and root it. That's what I've done, that was my first time so I apologize with you if I wrote something that you already know! Sorry for bad English!

QUestion. How do you relock your phone after HTCDev unlock? I love to know because I too ave spent too many hours working on this dam phone...
Anyway a work around for this is to find the rom.img of the rom you want to put on your phone and put it in your pc file where you have fastboot. Then flash the new ROM onto your phone normally. Then go into bootloader, fast boot and make sure you have fastboot usb set up. Then you neeed to open the cmd window and navigate to the folder with fastboot in it anf type in fastboot flash boot boot.img . Once this is done reboot the phone and your new custom rom will work fine.
However if someone can tell me hoe to rook and then use aahk I would prefer o use that and go o s-off....
HTCdev has instructions on relocking the boot loader. Basically the same step where you types 'fastboot oem bootloader unlock' or something like that, replace unlock with lock and it will lock it. If you want to use AAHK to get S-off, I suggest you run an RUU and get your phone to complete factory state before doing it. I don't know if it'll work by relocking an unlocked bootloader, so RUU seems to be the safest method (recommended by AAHK).

Going to send in phone for repair - Quick question please

I'm going to send in my phone due to screwed up wifi antenna and since my stupid provider has so far not released the RUU needed for my phone and i'm really running out of patience here i'm just wondering...
I'm on 2.15 (latest test firmware)
would it make a difference if i flash the 1.29 android revolution hd rom on top of that or should i just stick to 2.15 and send it in?
if i do decide to flash 1.29 would i be able to re-lock my phone despite being on android revolution hd or is it only possible to relock the phone while on stock rom?
Thanks in advance
Should i not be able to get my phone repaired i'm just going to destroy them verbally, and if that doesn't help me get any further i'm going to go get me a herd of goats and raid their shop. I'm so badass
In there eyes a custom ROM is a custom ROM.
If you relock your bootloader then your phone will not boot into android. It will just bounce into fastboot mode.
After relock you must run ruu

Did OTA brocked my htc one x?

here's the situation
i have recently bought refurbished htc one x
i wanted to update it with offical jelly bean update it showed me
th update downloaded and i proceed to install it, i was a long time on the installing icon so i left my phone, when i got back it wouldnt turn on like the batery was empty
before doing the update it showed around 50% so i wasnt thinking about it, but it seems i died during the update
now - i cannot turn my phone on, its stuck on htc logo, i can access bootloader mode, it says i have hboot 1,12
radio 5.1204.162,29
the bootloader is locked
could someone tell me in simple steps how to bring it alive? is it even possible?
I havent flashed my one x in a while, but try charge it as much as you can while in recovery or bootloader mode.
Then try unlocking the bootloader using htcdev and Hasoons all in one toolkit from the dev section.
That will help you get a custom recovery installed and allow you to reinstall another firmware.
Not sure how much you already know so I apologise if this is basic info haha.
Also dont forget to flash the boot.img if you go with a custom rom
Good luck

Return it for repair if you can. Unlocking bootloader is the hard way out if you ask me.

A ruu might be a way out, but it's a long shot because the ruu doesn't need a unlocked bootloader.

Try this first.
I completely forgot about RUUs. You need to get the one that matches your CID

Sending it for repair isnt really an option as i bought the device and now im leaving the uk.
so they would send it back to me as ill be in another country.
also i opened it as i had the anthena problem but i solved it.
software speaking, as that is the problem, is it harf to fix?
i had couple of androids and customized all of them, but im new to htc and all that ruu,cids...
i dont mind custom rom, right now i just want to recover any functionality.
So if the ruu is the easiest way out is there a newbie tutorial? as i cant find it
and is unlocking the bootloader, flashing a custom recovery ans rom is so complicated to other devices?
i dont.know.what do you nean by flashing boot.img while flashing rom
When you run an ruu the computer end of it walks you through what to do. Make sure you have latest version of htc sync installed and do exactly what it says. Also returning it is the best option under normal circumstances. I did exactly that when ota wrecked my shift

[Q] HTC One X bricked after trying to restore to stock or fixable ?

Hiya, call me a noob, a super noob perhaps but I was very new to the whole android custom rom experience. I was running viper custom sense rom but as it had become buggy I decided to try and revert back to stock. Following guides I read on here and saw on YouTube I ended wiping the phone and re-locking the boot loader and flashing the stock recovery however I didn't realise that there were specific ruu needed for different models. I live in the UK and have the phone on the network three so I'm assuming its sim locked to h3g. I don't know what to do (if anything) now to get my phone working as I cannot unlock the boot loader to try installing a custom rom so don't know what to do... Is this phone fixable or now a full blown brick ? Thanks Aaron
Why can't you unlock your bootloader again?
Just perform the same steps as when you first unlocked it
