[Q]Any way of hiding apps? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, is there any way of hiding apps in the apps drawer? There are a number of apps like license keys that are in the drawers which I obviously don't want to get rid of but also don't particularly want to see every time I open it.
My phone is rooted, but I don't want to use a different launcher, I like Sense.
edit. sorry posted in the wrong section - should've been in the general section. Can a mod move it?

Just to reply to my own question. If you have a rooted DHD and have Titanium Backup then "Freeze" removes an app from the drawer. I have hidden my license key for Touchdown for example (touchdown still works) and swept all that social networking vaporware out of the way as well. I haven't deleted, just hidden them to make updates easier.

More monologue.
Does anyone know what "Latitude" is called in HTC/Android speak?

I think Google Latitude is a feature on Maps that lets you share your current location with friends if you choose to.

Right, but it also appears as an "app" button in the app drawer. Does this mean I can't get rid of it? All that social networking stuff really bugs me.

Launcher Pro allows you to hide apps in the drawer (without root).

HTC Desire Doubts ROMs

Hi!
Friends, I'm new to the forum and am looking for some ROM that has the option to hide icons, music, files, etc.
Smartphone see more and more as a personal computer, but always have a friend from work, personal friend, a family that wants to move out of curiosity on the smartphone. So look for ROMs that have the option to hide apps, photos, videos, music, files, or all that this smartphone. Example: You want to hide the game Angrybirds for a child to not see him and be done with the device's battery. The ROM would choose to hide the icon so it does not appear in the list of applications and only be accessed through an explorer.
Has anyone thought about it?
Does anyone know of a ROM that has this option?
Thanks,
Roka
Try look for an app on the market. I am sure there is something out there. I don't think (like 99% sure) that a rom doesn't include this. Have a look for an app.
Normally in cyanogenMOD there is an option to hide apps in the app drawer that you don't use often. They are not deleted but are hidden when you simply press app drawer, although they are only one click away from be seen.
CyanogenMod uses ADWLauncher not the default launcher by Google.
download adw launcher from the market. or flash cyanogen mod which comes with adw installed. open your app drawer and click menu. it will say create new catalog. create 1 then choose which apps u want in your hidden catalog

[Q] App/Setting/Program to see what programs are called?

Hello.
Is there an app or program that allows you to see what is being "called"? For example, I try modifying ROMs to remove most sense apps. When removing some widgets that i think are excessive, it seems to disable a settings menu or something.
Is there a way to see what APK's are being called by what setting or app? ALOGCAT seems that it would work here, but it brings up a TON of extra stuff.
Any help?

I really don't think that an app drawer application is necessary, since you can just create a miui folder, name it "app drawer" and pull it to the main-bar at the bottom. You even can sort it by name or usage - It will behave just like sense's (2.0) app drawer.
Well, system apps can't be removed in miui - unless you change the launcher, I think.

Deleted google contacts app?

Stock 4.02 ROM rooted/unlocked.
So I was changing some stuff around on my home screen and dragged the "contacts" app that was in the bottom bar into the trash can. I was planning to just use the contacts I can see under the phone icon, but now I realize that only lets me dial contacts and not see all the contact info I have for them. Also, a few recent contacts I added aren't showing up online from my desktop. My phone says it's still succesfully syncing my contacts. I don't see "contacts" in my app drawer (but I don't know if it ever shows up there.) Did I uninstall the contacts app, or am I just missing a setting somewhere to make it display?
Well the app is called "People"... I'm assuming that's what you mean.
If you're on the stock launcher, there's no trash can for pre-installed apps. You can only see "App Info" to disable it. You can't uninstall with 1 drop.
If you're rooted and using a custom Launcher, it may have a "trash can" to long-hold onto to uninstall, and if you're rooted it may offer a full uninstall of system apps.
Gonna need more info here...

Samsung decided to remove the option to hide apps in the app drawer,
replacing it with an uninstall/disable feature instead.
Before, with the hide feature, you could simply hide third-party apps
that were barely used or that you didn't want others to see.
Now, you can only completely get rid of them.
I did this for the bloatware apps that couldn't be uninstalled, but also for some of the apps which I only use when traveling overseas which isn't more than once or twice a year. Guess need to wait and see how this new security works
Thanks dkb218
You can just disable packets and that is for all apps no root needed just pc or a paid app
If you disable them they won't show up in the drawer, but then again you won't get any notifications or messages until you enable it again. I think something like any package Disabler will work this way.
Add app to the secure folder and uninstall it from the app drawer.
