If you're talking about cooking WinMo ROM's, this isn't the right section. Babijoee has pointed you in the right direction if what you want is to run Android...
Read the first few posts and the last few posts of the thread. Plus, that giant thread has a ton of answered questions in it, just please search that thread.

Depends on what you did and what you didn't do. You shouldn't have waited hours and hours, once your timer hit 10 minutes, you should've manually rebooted into WinMo but either removing the battery and re-seating the battery or locating your nearest reset button (if you have one).
Make sure you format with something other than windows. I've used both Minitool Partition Wizard Home and SD Formatter (both free for personal use) and found them to be both useful in their own way. I also find it better to use a SanDisk 2GB, not required but your experience may very with anything else. Usually a format (fat32) will fix most issues if a reboot or deleting of the data.img does not (best if you have not been able to boot into Android). The other thing you can do is to make sure you are using the correct startup.txt and that you have the entire package you downloaded earlier and extracted to their appropriate places:
Should look similar to this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
In addition to this, if you want the most up-to-date files, it's best to download THIS and extract the contents of that file to the andboot folder AFTER you delete the files zImage and modules-2.6.27.46-01222-g9825e75.tar.gz (located under the andboot folder) and try again. You'll find there is a lot of trial and error but if you still can't get Android to run and you don't have any more time to waste, then perhaps you should just wait till it is better suited for mass consumption.

Your problem should get solved if you delete data.img and run again haret.exe
If you will have problems after doing that
go on http://glemsom.users.anapnea.net/android2/htc-msm-linux/
download a good file(check comments) and extract in your storage
rename zImage_lettersandnumbers to zImage and overwrite the old zImage you have in the folder where you set up android

A few words of advice
The key here is that if you don't find a working build, to continue deleting data.img (it will most likely be the culprit) and even formatting every-so often (if the system is waiting on the microSD card more than it should). For good measure, an initial boot (one without a data.img file) will take up to but no longer than 10 minutes (15 minutes should definitely be more than enough time). I find it's best to start off with a clean and completely stock build until you have an idea as to what you are doing or attempting to accomplish and can at least trace whats gone wrong back to the adjustments you've made. Once you find a working build, why not make a backup of it just so you have a point of reference? Mind you, it will not be perfect, yet! . I usually keep mine in an archived file just as it is on the microSD card. Also, if you ever find yourself stuck, there are several if not hundreds of F.A.Q.'s littered about XDA about this project.

The first file is SP_AllowCertificateInstall.cab do not extract the .cab just place on phone and run with file explorer to device memory then follow the other directions, may take more than one go on the whole process to get it working.
Good luck.

Waste of Time
Before anybody starts refering me to other "stikys" i have followed all the neccessary steps to do a hard reset and ran the sda unlock and i still get the error 270 corrupt file error. I have tried everything and still no luck. So much hype surrounds ookbas 6.5 and i have yet to test it out. Any help would be nice.
i did both of the SDA unlock and installing the SP_Allowcertifcateinstall over and over again and still got the error 270 at 3%. But before posting this, i did the sda unlock install, restarted, then did the Excalibur USPL- CID BYPASS (boht files attached)..and followed evrything in the readme file, then after getting the white screen, simply disabled the usb connection and then ran the romupdate and it worked for me..
hope this helps

if you like not to bite you to fix it via a memory card. changes you ruu_signed.nbh to HERMIMG.nbh. you know how he is and not as you write here. turn off the phone. and to enter bootloader using the buttons on the left side of the phone and right side. written on the keys is ok and the second is a button-down / power key. the two buttons pressed and the current bootloader does not start. when to place. so sorry. Sorry but my English is poor
It seems that you're using Vista or windows 7. Try to find a windows XP computer and up that rom again.
Some ports are opened!
Lemme xplain this... osmetimes the drivers of our pcs gets closed and opened constantly in some proceses and in the upgrade it happends so... softreset your device it must go to bootloader reconect your phone and try again... if not works...
Do the upgrade via SD: as the guy upper tell you change the nbh name as he says and copy the file to your CLEAN!!! micro SD 1-2 Gygas it doesnt works in MicroSD bigger than 2Gygas ok? insert the SD and reenter to Bootloader it beguns to upgrade... be sure your batt has enough charge... more than 50% MORE than that! i suggest.
Mine does the exact same thing everytime, on Windows XP, here is what I do now.
Run it, and when the phone gets to the red, white, green, etc screen, and says USB across the bottom, unplug the USB cable, and plug it back in, this works everytime for me.
it is easier and a lot safer to use sd card flash
thanks...
i'll try all of your suggestions... if nothing happens , hopefully not... what ROM is stable? ROM does not freezes up... thank you and have a good day.
nothing
I tried the SD card upgarding... after updating it froze up welcome part.... nothing happens... by the after the Updating Complete what will I do?
redo the same thing but first.... upgrade the stripped original att
wait till the bar reach 100% and start boots... then unplug the sd card...
perform a hardreset let it boot... the upgrade again with sd card wichever rom you want and unplug the sd card when the bar reach 100% and start boots... then when it is in welcome splash image... perform hardreset!!!
I will write this f·$"n leyend in my siggy!!!!!
helloo..
How do i do the upgarde stripped original att? and were can DL the file... and can i do using SD upgrade..
almost all the chefs (include me) we have at first post of our roms thread a link to it... just DL it unpackit rename it... and copy it to the sd inserted and follow the steps... i told you! oh if mine doesnt works, try yours... seems that works fine
oh charge your battery dude.

NO WAY!!!!!!
You are not hardspled!!!!! what happend Tho you have unlocked your device!!!
Man how could you upgrade the SPL in that way!!!!!!??????
I think that your phone goes off because you dont have enough battery to upgrade.... or maybe its just that the SPL is not unlocked!!!
Man this is serious!
you need an XP you need your battery fully charged
try to get a new USB cable... and try to get a ROM that match to your Carrier and country... this is no good... check the Siganture of CRCinAU he has a repository of shipped original ROM.
waaaahhhh....
I basically download the ROM version from www.HTC.com... Here's the direct site of the download:
"http://www.htc.com/sea/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=37&cat=2&dl_id=197"
ROM info:
Release Date:07/21/06
ROM Version:1.23.707.4
RF Module Version:1.06.00.10
Protocol Version:32.37.7010.01H
-----------------------------------------------------------
what is repository shipped...?
what are the steps I need to do fix the issue.?
do we need everything for that guys? hahaha well i think we must to help
go here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Available Original Shipped WM6 ROM Versions
or here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
search for your carrier and or language that match to your country...
and try to upgrade with the activesync!! not SD
Once you get it... enter to Bootloader and start the upgrade... make it on XP!!!! nad with many batt!!!... unplug your sd card and the sim too (dont think its fine but for prevent issues.)
how could you do it without hardspl!!! thats because of not read... and do things without ask.

No you didnt...
Well the PC gets an error so... why try to upgrade instead of try again the hardspl?
in fact is not the problem here who has the true or who cant read...
the important thing here is to know how you fon can be restored by the original shipped rom for dopod
so
try then one by one
we only need that the rom boots!!! to apply the hardspl.

basicly ive upgraded this unit and now have no gsm ive downloaded the software that i was advised but nothing works says files are corrupt or damaged , sometimes the link doesnt work . i need the factory rom for the orange spv m2000 i think can anybody help me pls
thanks.
since it seems to be the old problem, there was no need to open a new thread, you could have bumped the old one.
also, the answer is still the same. you can find shipped roms at http://xplode.tk
the fact that the wm2003 rom, offered in my tut thread, is corrupt, is aready known. i will fix that some time.

you cannot just download and double click it, i thought that was self explanatory. you need to right click the exe and extract it, in it you will find the ruu and the roms, then you take a custom ruu, like the Chef_Tony RUU from my signature and use that to flash.
also, since you are using windows 7 to flash the device, you need to install another driver and deactivate usb connections in wmdc. use d-two's tutorial on windows 7 flashing here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5456317&postcount=6
or simply use a windows xp computer and follow the tutorial in my signature.
ts ts, just doubleclicking the exe, if it was that easy, there would be no need for a 30 step tutorial
i had extracted the files to a folder .. anyways ive got more picks to show this error . after doing what was said .

done everything the pdf asked with success yet i still cant extract my orange rom as pictures above show.
you didn't do everything from the instructions, you are still using BAupgradeut.exe.
you were supposed to use MAupgradeut_noID.exe.
also, i don't see the TEST MODE watermark on your desktop, which can mean several things:
1. you use windows 7 32 bit and everything went fine
2. you use windows 7 64 bit and removed the watermark already, also fine
3. something went wrong during the installation or you skipped a step.
you should straighten these 2 things out before attempting to continue.
also you should put the device into bootloader mode before flashing, charge the battery to 100% and remove both the sim and sd card, just a general advice, i don't know, if you already did that.
the problem, the ruu gives you, however, is not solvable with any of the tips given above. the extrom from the rom you downloaded, seems to be corrupt. the extrom is the file called ms_.nbf and contains carrier-related cab files like a custom wallpaper, dialer skin and other useless stuff. here are some ways to get rid of that problem:
1. resize the partitions using mtty and flash without the extrom:
1.1 with a full battery and without sim and sd card, put the device into bootloader mode
1.2 disable usb connections in the wmdc
1.3 start mtty (look it up in the wiki or through google)
1.4 select wceusb or usb, 115200-8-1-N-N-N, press ok
1.5 hit enter, so it shows USB>
1.6 type task 28aa
now, the partitions are back to factory defaults, close mtty and disconnect the device, still in bootloader mode
1.7 delete the ms_.nbf or move it to another folder
1.8 in bootloader mode, start the ruu and flash the rom and the radio rom.
method 2 is easier:
2. crc errors appear during corrupt downloads, maybe your connection speed fluctuated, maybe you use a wi-fi connection which swallowed a bit or two, or the file was actually corrupt to begin with, try another mirror, or maybe even another rom, there are many different english wm2003 roms at xplode's archive, your carrier is not important.
2.1 flash it using maupgrade, bootloader mode, without cards...
followed you last instruction to the letter and all is GOOD
thank very much

CUBOT GT72E (MT6572) BRICKED (Help Thread)

Hello, first than everything I'd like to thank you all in advance... Now to the problem in hand, I recently got 2 CUBOT GT72E Phones, one of them I flashed with was supposed to be a STOCK Firmware:
http://blog.geekbuying.com/index.ph...for-cubot-gt72-mtk6572-dual-core-smart-phone/
I used SP Flash Tool for this, the process went seamlessly and when I got to the final OK Green Circle and then disconnected and tried to turn on my phone, it wouldn't turn on or do anything at all, I inmediatly freaked out and tried to find out how to solve it... So after some reading and learning, trial and error, I have found out the phone is not fully bricked and that there might be a solution.
First I took the battery out, connected the phone and put on the battery again and managed to install "MTK USB Port" Driver, the computer successfully detects the device as it, though when trying to reflash the "STOCK" Firmware or some other Backups and previous "working" Firmwares I stumble on ERROR 4032 - ENABLE DRAM FAILED!
After some more reading I think the reason might be a wrong PRELOADER, or so it seems to be with many other devices of other people that had the same problem.
So then I had an idea, I considered myself an idiot for flashing a PRELOADER without backing up the previous Firmware beforehand, but I have another working phone, exact same one, came on same shipping, same stock ROM, so well I then decided hoping I wouldn't end up bricking the second one, to try and backup the Stock Firmware from my working phone, so after Rooting it I used MTK Droid Tools and successfully made a Backup that included what I'm almost entirely sure is a working PRELOADER.bin, I also downloaded some other Backups and Readbacks that meet the same criteria and that I assume work as well, or so they should.
Now... I feel I'm pretty close to REVIVING this bricked phone, just a few more issues and I'm running out of help online just by reading, I'm hoping someone can directly help my case.
After making the scatter file for my backup of the working phone using the firmware.info, and trying to load it into SP Flash Tools, it fails to load the PRELOADER (Fail to load ROM file: PRELOADER) and it apppears in red letters in list.

If I double click PRELOADER on list and pick the working file it keeps saying it fails, what can I do to avoid this, or is there any other tool, I have already tried MTK Flash Tools, I manage to load the PRELOADER.bin in it, but as I go ahead and "Download" it just gets stuck on the Download DA 100% Red Bar until it finally stumbles back on ENABLE DRAM FAILED!
I've tried mixing it up and using the other backups that should work as well, I have checked and they fill all the specifications and criteria for the specific phone, and what happens is that, even if I'm able to properly load the Scatter file with the PRELOADER and everything, when I try to flash it, it goes ahead and fills up the Red Bar and immediatly after that it does nothing and just stops, leaving the Format, Firmware Upgrade and Download Buttons enabled again, the Red Bar remains on the bottom but no change at all.
Now what I guess might be the missing piece would be to be able to fully load the backup I made from the working phone to flash it successfully and reviving the phone. I'm also considering I might have the wrong driver or somehow I'm not accessing the download mode on the phone needed to flash it properly. I've heard something about META mode, holding Volume UP and without battery, I've tried that, though PC identifies it with the same driver, so I'm not aware if I should be using another driver, and uninstalling and deleting the previous one first before trying...
So in conclusion I think I need some help with two specific things:
- Pinpoint the Driver needed for my CUBOT GT72E a MT6572 device.
- Find out how to load the backup from working phone into SP Flash Tool.
I'll also leave the detailed specifics of the phone (the working one) from MTK Droid Tools

I don't mean to be pushy but this sort of things tend to get me very anxious and worried, I'd love some help or even replies trying to contribute, I'm doing my best and even if I'm not an expert on Phones and Android Devices, I think I can handle myself with some advice, shouldn't be too hard so just give it a try, any advice or hint will do.
This seems like a good phone, the working one I've been using so far is doing great, it's the first cheap Dual Core device I've seen and I'm really looking forward to developing custom releases for this one, I mean to contribute to this community, but if I can even un-brick this one I don't think I'd be of much help, hurts my pride a bit, I think I can do it, I just need a little help, I'm not giving up just yet so please I'd appreciate you avoid comments like "You blew it" "It's hard bricked, just give it up" or "Return to supplier"
This is a thread that explains how to unbrick MT65XX devices, so before you refer me to it and just paste the link, I've read it and found it really helpful, quoting this thread (Added on Nov 23, 2012 - MT65xx is truly UNBRICKABLE) Please refrain from telling me to give up, I haven't seen a successfull post of Cubot GT72E Unbricking and I intend to be the first one, yet I've seen many posts on both Cubot Forums and other sites of people having bricked their phones by using this "STOCK" Firmware, finding a solution for me is allowing me to help others to solve this as well
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1943442
I'll try and contact "rua1" who has developed all this tools and seems like an expert to see if he can help me.
Again thanks for taking the time to read this thread, I look forward to your replies.

If you have 2 phones then you are in luck.
Use the mktool and sp flash to make a full backup of the working phone and use the back up and to restore the soft bricked one.
Loads of guides on how to do it.
Use this guide to backup the working one forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438752
Managed to unbrick - lost imei & baseband
I managed to revive the phone using the "Stock" firmware, it's scatter file, but writting the preloader from my other phone, the ROM had no Developer Options to enable USB Debugging, I installed an update through recovery and it was now there, rooted it, but now I've lost IMEI and Baseband on it, I also had WARNING NVRAM = ERR 0x00 on Wifi, but managed to solve it by Hex Editting the WIFI file inside data\nvram\APCFG\APRDEB with the right MAC Address.
So far so good, but from all the methods I've seen and found to write IMEI into device, none have worked...
I assume there is a problem regarding "pttycmd1" and lot of files that are on the dev\radio folder of the working phone and that the unbricked one doesn't have, strangely though I can't seem to copy the "radio" folder or any of the files inside it with Root Explorer or any other root file explorer, it simply gets stuck on the first file, permissions on the folder and files are fine... So I don't know what the problem might be or how to sort it out...
Some threads I've seen online suggest flashing the SEC_RO.img from a backup (I'd use the one from the working phone). Yet I'm not sure if I should or could do it, strangely the only Scatter file that works is the one from the "Stock" firmware, should I try loading that scatter file, only ticking SEC_RO.img and loading the one from my backup into it and hit Download?
There should be no harm in it, but I wonder if it would cause both phones to have the same IMEI...
In conclusion and to make it clear, I have revived the phone but it seems somehow NVRAM got formatted and I lost IMEI, Baseband and pretty much everything you'd lose when you format NVRAM...
Any thoughts?

Should be fine, extract the recovery and sec ro from working phone and flash.
Tried it
Well I did it with the SEC_RO.bin, and even managed to flash the NVRAM.bin after some pretty annoying scatter file editting, the only scatter that works is quite more complex than your regular scatter, but I managed to do it, so I know have the same files in the "radio" folder and etc...
Still can't manage to recover IMEI or write it with any tools...
I didn't flash the Recovery.bin from the working phone, would it make any actual difference? Just asking... I'm still quite new to all of this...
Recover IMEI
Any clues or thoughts on how to recover my IMEI?
IMEI doesn't remain
I managed to Write the IMEI with this tool, check this screenshot:
However when I reboot the phone IMEI's remain "Invalid", I'm assuming the phone is rolling it back, when I had problems with the Wifi WARNING ERR 0x00 I had to not only Hex Edit the WIFI file with the correct MAC Address but also change it's permission to only read to prevent the phone from rolling back to wrong file, is there a way to prevent the IMEI not being stuck to the phone? Perhaps formatting the NVRAM before trying to write the IMEI?

Zenwatch (WI500Q) firmware needed...

Hey all.
It seems like this section of the forum hasn't seen any visitors for some time, not surprising given the age of the original Zenwatch. However, I am posting this on the slim chance that someone with one of these watches might see it and help a brother out.
My Zenwatch was bricked years ago following a corrupted OTA update, and hasn't seen the light of day since. Recently though I found the watch, charged it up, and gave it another go. The stock firmware was still crashing constantly leaving the watch unusable, but I managed to install the Asteroid OS on the watch and now it works, albeit in a very limited fashion compared to the official software.
Now that I know that the watch itself is OK, and it just needs the stock firmware to be installed, I turn to you. Asus were unable to help me, as they no longer have access to the original firmware (or more likely, they're unwilling to share them with an end user), I am hoping that someone on this forum still possesses one of these watches and can create and share a backup of the OS, as it now appears that this is pretty much my last chance of getting my watch working properly again.
So, any retro watch owners left in this corner of the t'interweb?
Hi! I have this watch with stock firmware. Tell how to do the backup or send manual and I'll do it.

helloworld1337 you might be about to make a lot of people very happy!
I'm not sure how to extract the firmware from the watch, I'll have to do a little research in to that, but I don't think it's a particularly complicated procedure. Give me a little time and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Thanks again!
OK, I think I understand how to do this now, but as with any image copying / rooting process, only proceed if you are happy to do so, there is always the slim chance that rooting a watch can have undesired effects, but mine rooted without any issues. So, here we go...
Files that you will need...
KingRoot - https://kingroot-pc.en.uptodown.com/windows/download
ADB & Fastboot - https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
ADB Explorer - Can be found in the Microsoft Store. It only gets a 1* rating but we only need it to look for files and delete created images once we're done with them.
Next, connect your watch to your PC via the charging dock and a suitable USB cable. Now comes the technical stuff which I hope I have understood correctly...
1) Enable developer mode on your Zen watch. You do this by going to settings/about and tapping on the version number 7 times. This should enable the developer options, one of which should be to enable USB debugging (I can't tell exactly where this option is as my watch is running Asteroid OS, but it should be in there somewhere).
2) Extract the ADB tools to a known folder. Open a command prompt in that folder. Type the command "Fastboot oem unlock". This should unlock the bootloader on your watch.
3) Install and run KingRoot, this will root your watch granting you access to all the files on it. Again, this step is done at your own risk, I did it with mine and it worked perfectly, but it would be remiss of me to not give a warning at least. It takes a little while to complete so be patient.
4) Open ADB Explorer and hopefully your watch will be listed in the left-hand panel in the devices list. If it is, click on it and then click the browse button, this should display all of the accessible directories. In my case I see "Internal storage" and "Root", open "Root".
5) At this point we are looking for a folder that contains all of the partitions listed by name. On my watch it is in /dev/disk/by-partlabel, but again, I'm running Asteroid OS. Another possibility is /dev/block/platform/dw_mmc/by-name, but have a browse around the dev folder and subfolders, somewhere in there should be folder with lots of files, some named "boot" "recovery" and "system". Make a note of the path to these files.
6) In the command prompt type "ADB shell", the cursor should change to a # symbol (the first time you do this, type "mkdir images", this will create an images folder on your watch that'll just make things a little easier to navigate in the next steps, you only have to run this command once).
7) Type "dd if=/dev/disk/by-partlabel/boot of=/images/boot.img" but change the "/dev/disk/by-partlabel/boot" to match the path that you found on your watch earlier. If successful this will create a "boot.img" file in the /images/ directory. This can take a while depending on the size of the partition, just give it some time and it will eventually go back to the # prompt (boot and recovery are about 16mb, system is about 500mb so takes longer).
8) Type "Exit" which should return you to a normal command prompt. Now type "ADB pull /images/boot.img", this will copy the boot.img file to your PC (into the same folder as the ADB command file).
9) Use the ADB Explorer program to go to the /images/ folder on your watch and delete the boot.img file, it'll just free up space for more images.
10) Repeat steps 6-9 for the "recovery" and "system" partitions, naming the created image files recovery.img and system.img respectively. Don't forget to delete them off your watch after you have copied them to your PC as the system one takes up quite a bit of space.
11) Take the three image files (boot.img, recovery.img and system.img) and upload them to a sharing site of your choice, then let me know the links to them.
I have tested the above steps with my Zenwatch and have successfully extracted and then re-flashed the images. With luck, and the images you produce, this will allow me to re-flash my watch back to factory standard, then I'll see if there's somewhere where I can host them permanently for anyone else that may need them, as I suspect that I am not the only one looking for them.
Fingers crossed!
Hi!
I got problems with ROOTing.
Tried Kingroot, kingoroot - failed at exploiting. Also looked for TWRP, but all links dead.
ED: Failed means that process went to the end without results.
Yeah I've not been able to find TWRP anywhere either. It's gone midnight now and I'm turning in but I'll see what I can find tomorrow. Bear with me, we're almost there.
Just to check, have you done these steps?
On your watch, head to Menu->Settings->About and tap on Build number for 7-8 times until it says you are a developer. When it does, the developer menu should be unlocked on your watch.
Head to Menu->Settings->Developer options and enable ADB debugging. Without this, your computer will not be able to communicate with your watch.
Yeah sure. I also went to the fastboot mode by swiping from right top corner to left bottom at boot, or sth like that and enabled bootloader by oem unlock. Kingroot has problem with rooting because device is unsupported. It tries many root strategies but all of them are unsuccessfull. It's Marshmallow 6.0.1 - m1d65s build.
We could try Kingo Root, an ironically close name to the other app, but beggars can't be choosers at the moment.
Kingo Root, the king root android app for free.
Kingo Root is #1 one click root solution so easy to use. Take your android phone by your control! You will love this feeling - the freedom.

I tried it on my watch and phone but they're already rooted so the process didn't succeed (obviously), but it could be worth a try.
As I mentioned before I tried both with no success.
Listen, I don't really care about this watch, its laying on my shelf and getting dust.
PM me address and I'll try to ship it to You somehow.
Obvously it's weared and has burnt pixels but stilll working and may be the donor - maybe somehow You'll manage to download the software and share with others.

For anyone following this thread, the stock firmware files are now available HERE.

Hi BR.
Yup, I eventually managed to work out a somewhat unconventional way to access the storage on the watch, something which I would not have been able to do without your generous donation. I also apologise for not letting you know that it arrived safely, that was an oversight on my part I think caused in part by the dejection that set in from repeatedly failing to root the damn thing .
However, between us we have succeeded in creating the firmware files, and are now able to offer them up to anyone that needs them. I'd call that a job well done .
